[DRAFT] A Political Guardian Angel?

Postby Aredita » Fri Aug 14, 2020 6:47 am

Title: A Political Guardian Angel?

Eligibility: (Unknown-Need some help)

The Issue: Durning a quite fiery debate with Hill Clinten, a prominent politician and strong candidate for office. A group of young protesters swarmed the stage with weapons. You were immediately rushed off by your team of secret service members, but Hill Clinten was left onstage, unprotected. Mrs. Clinten suffered several injuries throughout her whole body, and now the public is demanding action.

Option #1: "Why should you only get access to the secret service?!" Whimpers Hill Clinten in on a cane. "If candidates for office and well-knowen politicians, like myself, were also given full access to the secret service, this incident could have easily been prevented. Sure, it'll be expensive, but you can't put a price on safety."

Effect: The secret service is working double-time on the insane amount of politicians.

Option #2: "Are you serious?" Askes @@RANDOMNAMEFEMALE@@, your nation's security minister, who is strangely monitoring your curtains."Do you know how many hours we put in to protect one person? It's tiring and pricey for the government. The last thing we need is to think about all the other politicians. For example, how am I supposed to check thousands of curtains for assassins? They can hire their own bodyguards for all I care." She turns around near a curtain, and karate chops it "HA!"

Effect: The need for bodyguards has hit an all-time high.

Option #3: "Both of you are wrong!" Shouts @@RANDOMNAMEMALE@@, who you swear you've seen in an infomercial. "What we really need it for each person to have their very own bodyguard. Oh, and let me be clear, a free bodyguard! Of course, there is that tax increase, but who cares when you've got your own human forcefield following you around!"

Effect: The new safety motto is: "You are always watched".

Option #4: "Y'all know that where I come from, it ain't too easy." Says a man coming out of the darkest corner of the room. "I've ought to protect myself everywhere I go. I know a few guys who would, let's say, protect the public in all means necessary. Just give me a key to your mighty fine building and a couple of the state of the art military weapons and the public will not...or...uh...will be very safe." He ends with a large cackle.

Effect: The number of snippers on rooftops has become unsettling.

It's pretty uniquely a US thing to use the title "Secret Service" to refer to people whose job is to visibly and openly stand around and protect the President. (And also investigate counterfeiters, for some reason.)

I did a quick search for the words in existing issues, and they appear three times. #328 3 and #684 3 use them the logical way, as an agency in charge of clandestine operations. #673 3 appears to use them the US way, so I guess there is precedent.

Anyway, besides @@LEADER@@'s personal bodyguards, I would expect any important political event such as this to also have some cops to maintain order in general.

Why wouldn't the secret service protect a cabinet member? You have to specify that she's from the opposing party. And even then, she's probably still an MP

She's an election candidate who doesn't hold any government position yet.

On that note, validity: democracies only.

Why did you double post your draft? You should edit any new drafts into the first post of your thread and put any older drafts in spoiler tags. Definitely don't repost new drafts as an entirely new thread.
