War rages on. The revanchist Rykalan Empire, under Emperor Earlon Balkor, has undertaken the momentous task of reconquering the old Imperial Provinces. Having subdued the nomadic Steppa and the chivalrous Scormish, Emperor Earlon has turned his eyes to the last major threat to his campaign: the Kingdom of Edithar. Hoping to secure a quick victory over the fiercely independent Edithans, Emperor Earlon has decided to face the army of the Grey Wolf, Alderkung Wulfvar Redbane, at the strategic fortress of Gryfort. Both sides are in need of mercenaries, although to pick the losing side is death for a mercenary. The ambitious may choose to side with either the Rykalans or the Edithans, hoping to be rewarded with land and titles after the war, while others may choose to sell their sword to the myriad of other conflicts across the continent. Perhaps to the King of Cavleon, who is beset on all sides by enemies, or to the Celestial Emperor of Dao Wu in his campaign to civilize the barbarians of the continent. The choices are endless for you Soldiers of Fortune.
Hello! Welcome to my RP, the Soldiers of Fortune! In this RP, you will not command armies or rule nations, but be a humble, or not, mercenary, looking to sell your sword to the many powers of the continent in exchange for that shiny coin. While over time you may be able to lead a mercenary company and even perhaps make a bid for land, at the beginning you are no one special, merely one of the many desperate souls looking to earn their next meal fighting and dying for the nobility and those wealthier than you. You are free to travel anywhere for work, as long as you can afford a carriage or are willing to risk walking. Know that you, unless you take a hit to be from a noble family, are lowborn, and should tread carefully when speaking with those of noble birth. If you say the wrong thing or look at them funny, a noble may decide to kill you, and your only options would be to fight, surrender, of flee. Upsetting the nobility will also hurt you pocket, considering these will be your main employers. With that done, lets look at the rules.
Both the Rykalan Empire and the Kingdom of Edithar are hiring mercenaries for the Battle of the Gryfort and future battles. Rykalan pay: 10 silver per mission. Edithar pay: 10 silver per mission.
King Parther Andragon of Cavleon, under attack from the Umassid Caliphate, the August Imperium, the Glorious Empire of Lapyrus, and the Rykalan Empire, is offering a hearty reward for all mercenaries who join him in the defense of his kingdom. Pay: 15 gold per mission.
The Principalities of Midzya and Dzeka are embroiled in a bitter war over a perceived insult at Prince Mislav of Dzeka's birthday feast. Midzya pay: 12 copper per mission and food. Dzeka pay: 5 silver per mission.
The four Terynirs of Cynfeltch are engaged in a brutal civil war for the throne of the kingdom. The largest of the Terynirs, Cailhad, is facing an alliance of the Terynirs of Cynflech and Midflech, along with the Terynir of Pheofhanver. Cailhad pay: 15 gold per mission and the title of knight. Cynflech-Midflech pay: 5 silver per mission. Pheofhanver pay: 10 gold per mission.
Celestial Emperor Sho Han is hiring mercenaries to assist his divine armies in subduing the remnants of the Steppa nomads, along with expanding his divine realm into the lands of the Eiramath elves. Dao Wu pay: 20 gold per mission, Imperial jian, and dragon helm.
