Begin posting rosters now. Please submit one, while the more detail is better, anything is appreciated. Naturally, the more detailed rosters get a higher roster bonus, but don't let that detract you from posting a basic roster if that is all you have time for. Example rosters are as follows:
Highly Detailed Roster
Detailed Roster
Decent Roster
Basic Roster

Notice that the roster have the RP Permissions Box. This is a summary of what that is all about:
You are pretty much able to do as you please if you are the first one roleplaying a game, but be aware that each nation has a set of rules, called RP Permissions, and they look like this:
Choose my runscorers: Yes/No (Can they choose who scored your runs?)
Choose my lineup: Yes/No (Can they pick a starting lineup at will for you, or must they stick to what you have created?)
Follow my pitching rotation: Yes/No (Can they opponent choose any pitcher, or are they supposed to follow your rotation to a tee? It can be good to check their prior game RP to see if they mentioned their starting pitcher for the next game as well).
Godmod scoring events: Yes/No (This allows the opponent to be very detailed and specific when describing how scoring events transpired).
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No (Is the opponent allowed to say your player got hurt? Some nations will say yes with a disclaimer of only saying they are hurt, and not saying what was hurt or how badly someone was hurt.)
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes/No (Can the opponent completely do whatever they please in regards to injuries)
Eject my players: Yes/No (Is the opponent allowed to eject your players?)
Godmod other events: Yes/No (Other events refer to unusual or crazy things, such as, perhaps, the outfielder's arm was suddenly able to extend 50 feet and they took away your potential HR. Some nations that may be open to crazy things but do not want to be caught off guard may add a disclaimer to TG them any ideas first)).
Use DH at home: Yes/No (Every baseball fan's favorite argument. Is the DH used at your home stadium?)
Other: (Are there nation specific tendencies that you want your opponent to abide by? List it here). An example is: Newmanistan is very aggressive on the basepaths and speedy baserunners are commonly looking to steal both second and third. This is the place to put that information.

Note: If your opponent has roleplayed the game before you, you are expected to roleplay it the same way, although you still can have some flexibility: For example, did your opponent RP a three run double, in one inning.... that really should have been called foul? Did the umpire blow a called strike three on the opponents big slugger before they hit the big homer? Those are things you can still have flexibility with.

The importance of roleplay:
Now, begin roleplaying! Every matchday is a new opportunity to obtain RP bonus. The more RP bonus you get, the better. While a nation's beginning rank is very important to start, RP bonus becomes just as important. It is possible to do well in this tournament in your first try. I made the finals in my first Classic. Schiltzberg won the whole thing in his first. It can happen, but at the same time, it happened because we roleplayed to a high level as often as we were able. It did not just fall in our laps.

Hosting Cities:
So let’s move on now to the cities hosting the games.

1) Tundra Falls (Tundra Falls Proving Grounds)
What is the Proving Grounds? It is simply a marvel of the world. A football, soccer and baseball stadium, and indoor arena (to host hockey/basketball or other sports) are lined up in a row, each in itself being a state of the art facility in its offerings. These stadiums, however, make up the infield of a 3.5-mile auto racing super speedway. So it is many facilities, within one facility. Additionally, there is a horse racing track that surrounds the indoor arena, and a racing road course throughout the parking lot.

Each stadium has there own individual capacities, but in reality, if for example, the baseball stadium is sold out, fans can then sit in the grandstands of the auto racing facility and watch the game on giant “diamond visions”. As the grandstands of the auto racing facility completely surround the stadiums, it is possible for over half a million people to be in attendance.

All domestic Newmanistanian championship events, from high school level on up, are played at the Proving Grounds, and it is possible for all venues to be hosting events simultaneously. It is Newmanistanian legend (which is RP’d to be fact), that Spirits look over the Proving Grounds, and if Newmanistan gets a “lucky bounce” once in a while, that there was superhuman reasoning for it.

It has hosted many interregional championship games, including the Classic, and will again this year. Tundra Falls is in the south east of the empire, about 100 miles northwest of Pocono City.

Field Dimensions: LF: 383, LCF: 399, CF: 415, RCF: 402, RF: 377. Wall height: 9 feet.
Capacity: 61,000 (Baseball Stadium only, overflow seating possible).
Real Life USA City Equivalent: Think Green Bay and the passion for Lambeau Field.
Real life city is provided as a cultural comparison

2) Pocono City (Emperor Michael IV Stadium)

Welcome to the Capital of Newmanistan. It is located in the south east, and has something for everyone. You can get a sense for a lot of the history of the Empire here with museums galore that feature the Royal Family, but also other cultural features.

Any stadium named after Emperor Michael IV is going to be a visually stunning facility, and it delivers exactly that. While the Proving Grounds attracts people and fame due to its history and lore, this is truly the most modern stadium in the Empire. Every now and then, members of the Royal Family will be in attendance.

Field Dimensions: LF: 359, LCF: 390, CF: 408, RCF: 390, RF: 359, Wall height: 8.5 feet.
Capacity: 66,000
Real Life USA City Equivalent: New York City with the Washington, DC political vide thrown in.

3) Loudon (The Jungle)

The city of Loudon is the third largest city in the empire, and is located in the northeast. It is generally considered the anti-Pocono City because it is a place where people can go to be completely away from the government. Therefore, Loudon is a bit more liberal, overall. The stadium is home to the Loudon Leopards, and “The Jungle” used to just be a nickname before becoming its official name since everyone referred to it as such. It gets LOUD. Though that should not surprise.

Field Dimensions: LF: 362, LCF: 371, CF: 385, RCF: 375, RF: 349. Wall height: 8 feet, LF-CF, 10 feet, CF to RF.
Capacity: 54,000
Real Life USA City Equivalent: Chicago

4) Jessicaville (Empress Jessica I Stadium)

Back in the day, the nation of Secristan was Newmanistan’s neighbor to the east. When Secristan ceased, Newmanistan took over 2/3rds of the land (with Cassadaigua, who was on the other side of Secristan, getting the other 1/3rd). Jessicaville was formerly Amherst, Secristan, what had been Secristan’s capital. When it was taken over to become part of Newmanistan, the Emperor re-named it Jessicaville in honor of Empress Jessica I, one of the greatest rulers in our history. The stadium is formerly Amherst Stadium (Secristan had a name for it which I forget), which it means it did host the WBC 12 championship games. Since it has been a long time, this is now like any other city in Newmanistan and no longer has the Secristani influence.

Field Dimensions (modern day): LF- 390, LCF- 392, CF- 415, RCF- 393, RF- 372. Wall height: 8 feet.
Capacity: 68,000
Real Life USA City Equivalent: Los Angeles

5) Putnam Lake (Jeremy McAllister Stadium)

Named for Newmanistan’s greatest soccer player, this southwestern city is the smallest of the eight hosting events and may not offer a ton other then its great beaches.

Field Dimensions: LF- 340, LCF- 359, CF- 392, RCF- 370, RF- 338 Wall Height: 11 feet.
Capacity- 55,000
Real Life USA City Equivalent: Miami

6) Southport (Keisler Stadium)

Named after the great Stacey Keisler, the greatest pitcher of all time (in our opinion of course, though she’d have a very good case for the title), this South Central city lives and breathes baseball. There are monuments throughout the city for Keisler and other Rockets players. Tickets for the games will sell out within hours, even if the Rockets are not playing.

Field Dimensions: LF- 385, LCF- 401, CF- 423, RCF- 390, RF- 377 Wall height: 9 feet.
Capacity: 60,000
Real Life USA City Equivalent: Dallas

7) Olympia (Gladiator Stadium)
A typical large city, and the biggest city in the northwest of the Empire. This is not typically a tourist destination for people, and is generally just awarded these events so our citizens in the Northwest can have a convenient location to travel to.

Field Dimensions: LF- 350, LCF- 360, CF- 380, RCF- 360, RF- 350. Wall Height- 7.5 feet.
Capacity: 51,000
Real Life USA City Equivalent: Seattle

8) Centralia (The Firepit)
Located, wait for it, in the center of the Empire, Centralia is the industrial capital of the Empire. It’s not the biggest city, but these blue-color fans are very supportive.

Field Dimensions: LF- 342, LCF- 369, CF- 388, RCF- 355, RF- 344
Real Life USA City Equivalent: Pittsburgh

Dimensions:
Left:
335 feet
Left Centre power alley: 375 feet
Centre: 415 feet
Right Centre power alley: 358 feet

Note: Kate Schmidt's No. 9 is retired and will not be issued to any other Stars player.

Manager: 14 Geoff Yancey
Bench Coach: 15 Brad Howland
First Base/outfield: 46 Joey Musgrave
Third Base/Infield: 20 Lyle Menifee
Hitting Coach: 49 Chad Rossinger
Pitching Coach: 57 Nolan Channing
Bullpen Coach: 36 Calen George

STARTING PLAYERS
C: 4 Matt Lopez (rocket-armed, great defensive catcher, not a great threat offensively)
1B: 10 Cody Frazier (Sarzonian gold Glover on defense, line drive hitter who hits well for average and can occasionally go yard)
2B: 11 Ian Danielson (speedster, led Sarzonia with 64 steals in 92 games. Hit a career-high .326 with 11 homers)
SS: 5 Christine Andersen (Only committed three errors with a fielding percentage of. 992)
3B: 32 Jose Garcia ( Hit a career low .240 with 15 dingers. Sat out the last month of the season with nagging injuries)
LF: 19 Jodie Schein (hit .298 with 12 Homer's. Good at sacrifice hits and bunts)
CF: 16 Ryan Brady (five-tool player who led the league with a. 348 average. Hit 26 homers)
RF: 24 Kenny Evans (here for his rocket arm in right. Only had four assists because baserunners don't challenge him. They know better. Hit 20 home runs in 99 games)
DH: (also a pinch hitter/backup first baseman) 44 Luke Brinkley (He's here for his bat, plain and simple. He hit 22 homers in 61 games after being traded to an Incorporated League team, which uses the designated hitter. Hit four in 24 games beforehand)

BENCH
C: 8 Pat Sakata
SS/3B: 13 Art Mannigan
UT: 6 Desmond St. John
OF: Matt Sain
OF: Frank Spencer

STARTING ROTATION:
41 Mark Conroy (RHP; hard throwing, nasty curveball, devastating change; slider is hittable)
22 Uriel Jimenez (LHP; soft tossing, control pitcher. Gets by with sinkers and sliders. Also throws a palmball)
34 Jeff Parrish (LHP; hard thrower with a plus fastball and a terrifying slider. His change up is too close in speed to his fastball to be effective)
29 Jamie Pearson (RHP; Primarily a sinker-slider pitcher who thrives on keeping the ball down. Tends to do worse when he strikes out a lot of hitters)
55 Brian Lynch (RHP; Throws a lot of offspeed and breaking balls, but can sometimes bring his fastball to the mid-90s in a tight situation. Would be used in relief in the knockouts if a five-pitcher rotation is not necessary)

BULLPEN
30 Dima Ostrelov (LHP; can give three or four innings so he'll be the lefty long reliever. Mixes speeds and has a Andy Pettitte-quality pickoff move)
43 Alfred Wagner (RHP; he throws mid-to-upper 90s, but runs out of gas after about 50 pitches, so he typically pitches as the righty long reliever)
47 Carnie Weston (RHP; she relies on control and keeping the ball down. Typically pitches in a middle relief role)
50 Myron Daniels (LHP; Fastball/slider/curve, often used to get one lefty hitter out)
15 Scott Lassiter (LHP; fastball, curve, slider pitcher, often used as a setup pitcher. Can close if needed)
49 Tyrell Douglass (RHP; fastball typically in the high 90s to low 100s; also throws a change up. He typically closes)

Starting lineup w/o the DH:
Danielson
Schein
Brady
Evans
Frazier
Andersen
Garcia
Lopez
Pitcher's spot

Lineup w/DH
Brinkley hits cleanup. Everyone else moves down one.

At the previous World Baseball Classic, Sarzonia were a great unknown. Their manager was making his first appearance as a manager after serving as the bench coach for World Baseball Classic-winning manager Khalil Dennis and serving as hitting coach before that.

The team hadn't played together as a team before, only having faced each other instead of playing with each other. It would take time for the team to begin playing like one.

And now? Sarzonia are no longer the unknown. They come in ranked 28th among baseball playing nations after winning their qualifying group. They bring in some regret after blowing a two games to none series lead in the first knockout round, but they also bring a team free of the uncertainty surrounding the SARS 2 novel Coronavirus. Pitching coach Noah Channing tested negative for the virus and was put on a ventilator as a precaution. He recovered from the symptoms and said he's ready to go.

"It was scary for a while," he admitted. "I got terrific care at the hospital and I'm excited to be back."

So, too is manager Geoff Yancey, who guided the Stars to the knockout round despite being a first time manager and despite the team's being unranked at the start. He brings along a now experienced coaching staff including Woodstock Mountaineers manager Brad Howland, who served as bench coach and does so again.

"Brad was invaluable to me as a first time manager," Yancey said. He added that Howland also brought him back to having a strong relationship with Dennis, his predecessor as Stars manager and his closest friend.

Yancey said the Stars would keep the same team that managed to qualify for the knockout rounds in the previous edition, saying that the disappointment of losing a series they only needed to win one more victory to capture and advance.

"We were close to our goal," he said. "You always want to win when you're knocking on the door of doing just that. Now we've got a task of bashing that door in."

About the Team
The Kalactanians are back again! This time they will be loooking to improve off the relatively unimpressive performance that they put up before. They are looking to return to the playoff glory that came with the Round of 16 and World Baseball Classic 42. Last time, in a group with Ko-oren, Xanneria, Equestria, Quebec and South Newlandia, they finished 3rd place and missed out on making the playoffs for the 5th classic in a row. What will come of the team this time? We will find out over the course of the next 2 months. The team has many new faces that will be important to this years team, including the standout Second Baseman Bobby Williams, who is 19 years old and one of the best players on the team already.

Pripet Socialist Republic U-21/College All Stars
Image

Baseball is the national sport in the Pripet Socialist Republic. Everyone wants to become the next Sean Krivacha or another all-star baseball player. In the socialist nation, Baseball is absolutely huge. According to a survey more than half of the kids in the nation of 7 million play the sport. The PSR is a socialist-communist republic, that has laid-back democratic laws. Everyone gets an equal chance to succeed in the nation, as every person earns a fixed government salary that gets added on to their own. Baseball facilities are free to use, so kids always have a chance of succeeding at the sport.

Why we have the college team
The PSR Olympic Council announced that only amateur players will be allowed to play in international competition starting during WBC49. Therefore, the same team that played in the International Baseball Slam will be representing the national team in the WBC this cycle. WBC 50 will be in question, wether the team will play an amateur one, or a professional one.

Eject my players: Yes (Through in Daskelian baseball is extremely rare, as discipline is very much the norm in sports. Proceed with caution)
Godmod other events: Yes if it's exciting and credible
Use DH at home: No. DH is currently not used in Daskelian Baseball

Daito Kyūjō
Team Overview

Team Daskel is back from the last WBC. The experience through defeat served good for the team, who now, under the instruction of the former Taihō Kōkō coach An Takashi, are now aiming higher than ever. The roster stayed mostly the same, with the addition of a new star of the Daskelian baseball scene. Now in the bullpen, the team counts with the presence of Kanao Tōru, right-handed ace pitcher of REI Kuji, who amazed everyone in the last Daikyū Summer Tournament.

The Daskies play in the Daito Kyūjō, one of the biggest and oldest stadiums in the country. the "Daikyū" has a capacity of 60.000 attendants. Its trademark feature is the all-dirt infield.

Baseball in Daskel

Baseball is one of the most dominants sports in Daskel. However, baseball history didn't start with it's professionalization, but with a rapidly developing high school baseball federation. Baseball in Daskel started around 1909, when the sport arrived to the coasts of Kuji Bay. Since it's insertion, it spread through every prefecture of Daskel, creating a vibrant culture of colors, sounds and, of course, loads of baseball. The natural course of the activity lead to the creation of the "Federation of Daskelian High School Baseball", who watch over pesky head coaches, rough kiddos, and tiger parents who strive to see their children turn into the next professional baseball phenomenon.

The National Tournament is held every year in November, start of the Daskelian Summer. In that tournament, 30 schools teams battle in the burning sun, not only defending the pride of their high school, but also the pride of their entire prefecture. It's usual occurrence that other prefecture teams cheer for their final representative, in and out the stadium.

One big custom of Daskelian baseball is to bow in front of opponents before and after the game, and we'll absolutely see that in this tournament. Watch out for daskelian fans! They know how to make a good atmosphere, bringing music and entire brass bands to the stand.

The Se Vende Skooma Cool Dudes

The 9-inning game is not as well regarded as the test of physical endurance, mental fortitude, grace under fire and personal values as the 120-inning, 5-day Test Baseball format that remains the heart and soul of Se Vende Skooma’s professional sporting landscape and it’s intersection with the broader popular culture. However, the format and rules are familiar from years of Little League and high school ball, and a selection of promising Test players, blocked from regular playing time for various reasons, have been designated from their clubs for this unique opportunity to pick up some experience against the best Little Leaguers the world has to offer.

The “Cool Dude” is the beau ideal of Test Baseball, immortalized in movies, plays, highbrow TV dramas, bildungsromans and Horatian odes. The classic Cool Dude is a combination of natural athlete and disciplined trainee, plays at least three positions, sincere but good-humored, intense but sporting, tolerant of all viewpoints except the Designated Hitter, well-read, a good cook, dabbling in at least one form of fine art and always aware of his own mortality.

SUPER-LLAMALAND TIGERS: WBC49 ROSTER

What happened to Super-Llamaland in the past decade? Why was nobody able to enter the country for ten years? What were the mysterious space-time fluctuations, detected by Hicañan astrophysicists, that surrounded the missing nation until its reappearance? Was Dominic Kastner’s name always spelled that way? The international community is still trying to figure things out, but one thing’s for sure - the Tigers are back.

Fully aware of the challenges Super-Llamaland faces as an unranked nation a decade behind on baseball tactics and sports medicine, Sofia Rasmussen has opted to bring a younger - but still star-studded - roster of players that she believes she can train into a championship-level core within a few Classics. Whether a Llamanean Baseball Association that’s accustomed to constant success is willing to give her that time is still unknown. Still, the “Cubs”, as Llamanean media has taken to calling them, still take after the WBC42 championship team. They play with energy and heart, make spectacular plays on defense, play whatever position is asked of them, and emphasize contact-hitting and pitch command above pure power.

Rasmussen takes after her mentor Laurent Mårtensson, emphasizing novel defensive schemes, a variety of unorthodox baserunning strategies, experimentation with relievers’ roles, and elevating the role of analytics in the clubhouse. But she’s still relatively inexperienced as a manager, and there are concerns that she might try to do too much.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: Yes, within reason
Follow my pitching rotation: Yes
Godmod scoring events: TG for approval
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but I determine the severity
Godmod injuries to my players: TG for approval
Eject my players: TG for approval (Llamaneans don’t get ejected often)
Eject Buck Fuchs: Yes
Godmod other events: TG for approval, unless they only involve Buck Fuchs
Use DH at home: Yes

Derrick ARMSTRONG, #1, 25, C-1B, S/R - Apple Valley Vipers
Dominic KASTNER, #12, 33, 2B-SS, S/R - New Llama Wizards
Miranda GRAY, #33, 22, 3B-LF-RF, R/R - Rogers BC
Summer HUANG, #6, 24, SS-2B-CF, S/R - South Bryant Chariots
Gabriel ACOSTA, #10, 23, 1B-RF, L/L - Vargas City Lions

Noah SLATER, #16, 24, C-1B, S/L - City of Dinschria
Caitlin ROSARIO, #18, 23, SS-2B, R/R - East Llama Kings
Ian HART, #64, 25, UTIL, S/R - Nikcoro Suns

Starting catcher Derrick Armstrong takes after his manager on defense, but unfortunately, nowhere else. He has a cannon for an arm, a natural instinct for framing pitches, and a .237 career batting average in the LBL. While his power makes him a threat at the bottom of the lineup, his free-swinging tendencies make him one that’s easily dealt with. Corner infielder (and occasionally outfielder) Gabriel Acosta, expected to start at first, is one of the few traditional sluggers on the team, hitting .285 with thirty-four home runs last season. And while he also struggles with plate discipline, he distinguished himself from other potential starters by his defensive prowess and versatility. The middle infield is probably the strongest area on this team, featuring veteran Dominic Kastner and reigning LBL MVP Summer Huang. Kastner may have lost ten prime years with the Tigers, but the former number-one pick will be motivated as ever to lead his national team to another championship. On the field, injuries have taken away his speed and moved him to second base, but he’s compensated by becoming an even better hitter, slashing .307/.414/.521 last season while maintaining solid defense at second. Huang compensates for Kastner's declining range and speed by covering an incredible amount of ground in the field, whether she’s at shortstop, second base, or center-field. With a bat in her hands, she’s an incredibly effective - if overly aggressive - contact-hitter with doubles power and strong baserunning instincts. Finally, Miranda Gray at third is one of the most disciplined hitters on the team, and an underrated defender at the hot corner - although her inexperience and small-market team make her less of a hot commodity than the other starters.

Off the bench, Noah Slater offers a stronger, more patient bat at the expense of lacking Armstrong’s finesse behind the plate. Caitlin Rosario is a slap-hitting middle infielder best known for her speed (and, to a lesser extent, defense), who should be able to competently spell Kastner or Huang up the middle. Finally, Ian Hart is a jack-of-all-trades utilityman who, while not the greatest hitter who could’ve filled up the bench, is definitely the most versatile and the best teammate.

Tyson LONG, #9, 21, LF/RF, S/R - Nandaozhou Sharks
Lily SCUTARO, #11, 24, CF, R/R - New Llama Wizards
Liam DESJARDINS, #28, 23, RF/CF, L/L - BC Nikcoro

Ivy WERNER, #25, 25, LF/CF/RF, S/R - New Llama Cyclones

Tyson Long, the first overall pick of last year’s draft, could be the next great Llamanean slugging outfielder. His prodigious raw power hasn’t entirely converted into in-game power yet (although he still hit twenty-two home runs in his first season), but his plate discipline, long at-bats, and ability to hit to the opposite field defy his young age. Lily Scutaro is, despite being three years older, a little less polished in the batters’ box. However, she makes up for it with supernatural instincts in center-field, where she’s won a Gold Glove in all three of her LBL seasons, and on the basepaths. Scutaro is also a surprisingly powerful hitter for her five-seven height. In right field, Liam Desjardins is a pure contact hitter with limited power but excellent on-base ability. Desjardins has average-at-best range despite his speed, possibly due to the fact that he was a catcher when drafted and is relatively new to the outfield. However, he differentiates himself with his cannon arm, and made many a highlight reel for gunning runners down at home plate.

Because “infielders” Hart, Gray, Huang, and even Acosta are all capable of spelling any of the starters in the outfield, Sofia Rasmussen has opted to only bring four “real” outfielders to WBC49. Ivy Werner, the sole reserve outfielder, is quick on the basepaths and solid defensively at all three positions, and could be used as a pinch-runner or defensive sub for the slower Long. With a bat in her hands, her biggest skill is her plate discipline, but she also has doubles power and a propensity to hit into the gaps, especially to the opposite field.

Note: For the playoffs, Rasmussen will use a four-man rotation, with Wladecki available out of the bullpen.
Genevieve STRAUSS, #21, 32, R - New Llama Cyclones
You’d be forgiven for thinking ten years ago that Genevieve Strauss, with her triple-digits fastball, scintillating slider, and incredible confidence, was going to be a national team and Mendel Mets legend. But although she kept all three of those, injuries and an inability to find a third consistent pitch defined her first decade in the LBL, and after a brief bullpen experiment went south, Strauss was traded to the Cyclones. There, she’s found a second wind, experimenting with a shaky - but occasionally excellent - circle change to go with a mid-90s, high-spin fastball, a high-80s slider, and much-improved control.
Cedric WEI, #27, 25, L - Xingcheng Renaissance
Wei’s fastball tops out at ninety-two miles an hour and lacks movement, but “The Surgeon” has made three All-Star teams off of his incredible array of breaking pitches. An expert at getting hitters to chase, Wei offers a late-breaking slider, a splitter, a curveball, and a changeup that will leave even the most skilled hitters confused, and has an innate sense of what pitch to choose to throw off the hitters’ timing and line of sight the most. While he’s vulnerable to the home run - usually hit when he’s trying to sneak a fastball by somebody - Wei is one of the most underrated pitchers in the LBL.
April BENDTNER, #34, 25, L - South Bryant Chariots
April Bendtner has a fairly similar fastball-curveball repertoire to her retired older cousin. However, aside from the mid-90s cut fastball, electrifying curveball, and consistently solid changeup, Bendtner distinguishes herself with her excellent command of the strike zone. Bendtner hammers the strike zone relentlessly, relying on changing speeds and the movement of all of her pitches to induce weakly-hit ground balls for the Llamanean defense to handle.
Isaac COLÓN, #50, 23, R - Svenssonsford Dynamo
Isaac Colón is an electrifying talent, and it’s undeniable that he has national team ace potential. In fact, ever since Colón was fifteen, he was being hyped as a future number-one pick, and after two seasons of college baseball, he was drafted and immediately promoted to the LBL. The talent is clearly there - Colón lights up the radar gun with a triple-digit fastball, and his screwball and changeup both have incredible movement. However, injuries have limited Colón to just 295 innings in three LBL seasons, and a tendency to get upset with himself and lose control (which has, admittedly, improved since his rookie year) when things start to go sideways has held him back when he has been healthy. Is the solution to that “make him a starter on the national team?” Sofia Rasmussen evidently thinks so.
Savanna WLADECKI, #54, 20, L - Derrierton Surge
Last year’s Rookie of the Year, Wladecki originally wasn’t supposed to be in the majors at all after being taken in the fourth round. But injuries forced her into Derrierton’s rotation, and although her fastball never rose above ninety miles an hour, extremely high spin and pinpoint accuracy ensured that even a relatively pedestrian-seeming fastball-slider-changeup combination was able to stymie hitters for her first season. Is it sustainable at higher levels of opposition? There’s only one way to know for sure.

Note: these are their recommended roles, but most of these are elite Llamanean relievers and can fill other roles pretty well. In the Llamanean baseball leagues, roles tend to be flexible. The relief ace, not a closer, is usually the best reliever - not just limited to the ninth inning, but to the most high-leverage situations. These are all OOC role descriptions; ICly, there is no distinction between relievers. Specialty pitches are marked with one asterisk (or two asterisks for emphasis).

Long Reliever: Simon CHU, #84, 17, R - Central Sherbrooke High School - fastball, slider, curveball
Long Reliever: Jaden OLIVERI, #42, 27, R - South Falls Athletic - fastball*, curveball, changeup
Left-Handed Specialist: Courtney MIKKELSON, #37, 25, L - New Llama Wizards - fastball, sinker**, slider, changeup

_______________
Starting Lineup, Defense:
Catcher: #16 Nicholas Lux, 5'10", 225 lb, 23 years old
1st Base: #7 Abraham Leinhardt, 6', 205 lb, 27 years old
2nd Base: #13 Philip Franklin, 6'1", 195 lb, 26 years old
Shortstop: #2 Leonardo Harrison, 6'2", 217 lb, 24 years old
3rd Base: #6 Maximus Tillman, 5'11", 190 lb, 31 years old
Left Field: #41 Tim von Kuhn, 6'3", 240 lb, 33 years old
Center Field: #30 Stephen Reichenbach, 5'10", 185 lb, 25 years old
Right Field: #22 Rubin Graves, 6'2", 205 lb
DH: #42 Wolfram von Kuhn, 6'4", 245 lb, 35 years old

-Leonardo Harrison is a fluid athlete and is on pace to be one of the best players in Ranorian history...not that that's saying much. At shortstop, he's the centerpiece of the defense, and he's been playing professionally since he was just under 17 years old. Unfortunately, Ranorian baseball isn't a huge draw, but he's hoping to change that, and to be the first player with a one million+ per year deal. He's currently at the end of his contract, and will be making 45,000 handels off the National Team in addition to his 870,000 Handel deal. 2nd best hitter in Ranoria last season.

Tim von Kuhn: There's a reason he's hiding in left field, that's for sure. Von Kuhn is deceptively quick, but he's here because he can swing very, very hard. He and his brother, Wolfram, have won plenty of championships off of sheer batting prowess. It's made for some exciting championships to be sure, especially if both happen to be playing defense, as opponents will pick on their ineptitude for fielding while they hammer away homers. Tim von Kuhn has been playing for the QBO's Moncton Dinos for most of his professional career, while Wolfram was never quite good enough to get out of Ranoria.

Nicholas Lux: Lux is a youngster for sure, but he's no less adept for it. Expect a good hitting percentage (.331 hitting last season), and more than enough homers to keep you on your toes. Much faster than his frame would have you believe.

BENCH
Catcher: #77 Philbert Kelsin, 6'2", 210 lb
Shorstop/Bases: #19 Arthur Jackson, 5'9", 175 lb
Outfield: #55 Damian Horace, 5'11", 190 lb
Outfield: #51 Judas Acker, 6', 200 lb
Outfield: $59 Tristan Feng, 6'1", 205 lb

Pitchers:
#60 Tommy Verona - Big arm, tends to throw the fastball almost every time. Brother of 4x all star RFL QB Paul Verona. 100 mp/h capable pitcher. 6-8 inning guy, above average ball control. Verona has been playing for the California City Dodgers of the QBO for most of his career
#86 John Stallone - Big arm for a Ranorian, expect a decent curveball, poor ball control. 94 mp/h tops, more of a 5-8 innings guy
#68 Sylvester Wayne - Throws a lot of sliders and curveballs, and has a knuckleball that approaches 65 mp/h. His tricky style often results in a good deal of walks, however. Stallone fancies himself a closer, 4-6 innings
#64 Erin Phelps - Fastball pitcher, expect the 88 mp/h to 93 mp/h range. he can hit 95 mp/h but tends to throw a lot fewer strikes doing so. 5-8 innings.

Northwest Kalactin Olympic Committee Meeting
A tall man walked into the room, this person was none other than Javier Pratt, Olympic Skier and the Vice President of the Kalactanian Olympic Committee. He sat down, and started up “Men, we are here to talk about the future of National Team Sports in Northwest Kalactin. We have jurisdiction of all Olympic sports outside of World Championships and Soccer, Gridiron, Baseball and Basketball. We have something large to talk about, concerning the eligibility of athletes that will participate in the Games. The Pripet Sporting Council already does not allow professional players to play in the WBC, and while we aren’t taking it that far, we have some things to consider here. We are thinking about, well returning to the time when we only allowed amateur players to participate in the Olympic Games. We want your input on this.”

A man came out from the back and started speaking, “Why do we only want amateur athletes to participate in the Games? Why shouldn’t we be sending our best players to play in them year after year?”

Javier responded “Well, many people have been concerned lately, that it ruins the competitiveness of the Games, and the true Olympic spirit that is supposed to come with it.”

“Well why should that stop us from sending our best athletes to the games? We will have a very unlikely shot at winning any medals, especially if we try to restrict it to just amateur athletes. You saw how we played in the last games, while sending our best delegation we were only able to win 2 medals, along with a victory in the Ultimate Frisbee Demonstration Event.”

“Anyone else want to provide their opinion on this?”

One of the members of the second place Bandy team from the XIII Winter Games stood up, “I’m not sure I like the idea of making the Olympics and amateur only competition, the idea of the games is to send the best athletes in the nation to go and compete with others, and if we aren’t sending our best mean out there, what’s the point of joining the Olympics? We will get our asses whipped year after year.”

“We will talk about this at the next meeting, for now, all of you go back home and think about this, we will be making a decision about this soon enough.”

As the men filed out of the room, one of them stayed behind, and said “Javier, do you have any idea what you are getting into? Back when we only allowed amateurs to play, we got destroyed. A lot. Don’t do this Javier, just don’t, it is a horrible idea.”

Falisiand is one of the newest nations in the NS Sports landscape and had their international debut in ISB XI where they barely missed the playoffs by 2 games. Falisiand's first domestic league, the FBA, has also caught the attention of other countries while it's regular season is about to end. Here is the roster for the Falisiand Bison.

Stadium: We put up a poll asking if our country should use Howard E. Ulysses Stadium again or if we should use a bigger, grander stadium, and the poll said the bigger, grander stadium so, the stadium we are in is one of the biggest stadiums in Falisiand, with a capacity of 41,160, Libertad Insurance Field, the home of the Bison City Bison.Image

Coaching Staff
Head Coach: Saif Neilson -29, Head coach of the #1 seed of the FBA, the Clutchington Jays, is dominating the FBA and looks to have a bright future
Hitting Coach- Hayden Manuel- 49, Was the Head Coach of the Falisiand U22's in IBS XI
Pitching Coach- Josiah Guerra- 36,Head Coach of the Westside Trouts, the team that has allowed the least amount of runs in the FBA, so far

Roster
Starters

C: 27 Ryan Grantham ( His draft stock skyrocketed after is elite performance in the IBS, he was one of the clear stars on that team, great leadership, his contact is still elite, his power got a bit better, making him a decent power hitter, and his speed went up from 28.5 ft/sec to 29.1 ft per sec)
1B: 73 Kodey Kenton ( also on the IBS team, he became good friends with Ryan Grantham, his power was elite having 15 home runs in the IBS, though he still has issues with contact, 19.2 ft/sec)
2B: 99 Amaan Pruitt ( star player of the Libertad Gamers, ho have the T-2nd best offense in the FBA, he is a skilled all around player, he is 3rd in the FBA MVP race with his .289, 88 hits,48 RBIS, 19 home run stat line, his team has been eliminated, but he is still fired up for baseball)
3B: 11 Leroy Pratt ( a great contact hitter with little power, but his true skill is on the field, where is is a certified Platinum Glove award winner, being the best fielder in the league, he plays for the Reverse Town Rampage)
SS: 02 Junior Brown ( a Power hitter, is 2nd in the FBA in home runs with 25, plays for the Liverton Scarves, a decent contact hitter too, 23.9 ft/sec)
LF: 17 Aidan Singleton ( An all around player, he is average on every statistic with a .256 avg, 56 hits, 23 RBIs, and 9 home runs, he runs 26.6 ft/sec, plays for the Lake City Yankees)
CF: 87 Richard Mcbride ( One of the best players in the FBA, he is an all around great player with a .308 avg, 2nd place 102 hits, a league leading 60 RBIs, and a league leading 27 home runs, he is in 1st play of the FBA MVP race, plays for Clutchington Jays)
RF: 56 Ciaran Krueger ( another elite contact hitter , he leads the FBA in hits and avg with 108 hits and a .304 avg, has 52 RBI's, and 9 home runs, he runs 29.2 ft/sec, he is 2nd in the FBA MVP race and plays for the Falisiand City Quarters)
DH (just in case): 72 Anita Goodman( a decent power and contact hitter, he sucks at fielding though which is why he is at DH, plays for the Isotown Storm)

Bench
Util: 49 Patrick Walton ( he is a good contact hitter with decent power, he can play anywhere effectively, he plays for the Bison City Bison)
C: 12 Kyle Maxwell ( a good power hitter with decent contact, has a good fielding ability too and can run 25.3 ft/sec, he plays for the Eastside Herrings)
IF: 80 Theodore Bartlett ( a horrible hitter who's good skill is his fielding and speed, he runs 28 ft/sec and plays for the Anderson Hokies)
OF: 82 Scott Hancock ( a decent all around player, he runs 24.5 ft/sec and plays for the New Denton Destroyers)

Starting Pitchers
RHP: 62 Xerxes Anscom ( the other clear star in the Falisiand U22's, he is a master of control who throws a 89 MPH fastball, a 79 MPH nasty slider, a 71 MPH 12-6 Curveball, and an 85 MPH sinker)
RHP: 89 Kyron Burnett ( a velocity pitcher, he throws a fastball that can go from 98-101 MPH, a 91 MPH slider, a 85 MPH curveball and a 89 MPH change up, he doesn't have as much stamina as the other pitchers here with his most innings being 7.1, he plays for the Eastside Herrings)
RHP: 91 Austin Wilkerson ( an all around pitcher, he throws a 95 MPH fastball, a 84 MPH slider, a 82 MPH changeup, and a 76 MPH curveball, he plays for the Wendleton Socks)
LHP: 93 Keaton Holman ( a control pitcher, throws a 93 MPH fastball, a 82 MPH slider, a 77 MPH changeup, and a 72 MPH curveball, he plays for the Clutchington Jays)
LHP 85 Rufus Hammond ( a velocity pitcher, throws a 94 MPH running fastball, a 93 MPH Cutter, a 86 MPH slider, and a 77 MPH curveball, he plays for the Liverton Scarves)

Bullpen
RHP: 86 Marvin Gill ( a clutch reliever and the most likely to be the closer, he throws a 99-103 MPH fastball, a 92 MPH slider, and a 87 MPH changeup, he plays for the River City Mets)
RHP: 47 Harvey Moon ( a control pitcher, he throws a 94 MPH four seam, 90 MPH two seam, a 82 MPH slider, and a 79 MPH curveball plays for the Wendleton Socks)
LHP: 32 Frankie Goodwin ( a velocity pitcher, he throws a 98 MPH four seam, a 94 MPH two seam, and a 86 MPH slider, plays for the Falisiand City Quarters)
LHP: 23 Grover Massey ( an all around pitcher, 94 MPH fastball, 81 MPH changeup, and a 76 MPH curveball, plays for the Isotown Storm)
SP (switch pitcher): 40 Logan Vinson (didn't do well as a starter in the IBS, but still wanted to play for the WBC, so the coaches moved him to bullpen, for being a former starting pitcher, he can waste more innings than the average reliever, he still throws a 92 MPH fastball, 66-74 MPH knuckleball, an 86 MPH circle changeup, and a 90 MPH gyroball, he is still very unpredictable)

Falisiand International Team

Postby Falisiand » Sat Jul 11, 2020 10:22 pm

Neilson says "Chemistry is the key"

As the clock strikes midnight for the sign ups, the roster reveals and the group reveals begins, and Falisiand has already revealed their roster, showing what they believe, and what many other believe, which players are the best of out nation. We see some familiar players from the IBS, but most importantly, we see the MVP front runners and some major stars on their too. With Falisiand U22s missing the IBS playoffs, we ask Neilson what makes this team better than the IBS team, and what is the key to making the WBC playoffs.

Neilson: Well, this team has more experienced stars on it, and they also have more people with major league experience, but of course their are nations like Jeckland, Northwest Kalactin, Super Llamaland, and many more more experienced nations, theirs always a chance of losing, but right now, the only thing I think is the key to winning it all is chemistry, chemistry is the key. We have so many players who've faced off against each other and I think that they already gained the respect of each other, we also have so many people who have played with each other * the camera points to Ryan Grantham and Kodey Kenton sharing a laugh with each other* I think that the more we play games with each other, the more we hang out together, the better this team becomes.

That is all we got from Neilson today, but now we wait as the Falisiand International Team/Falisiand Bisons wait for the other nations to reveal their rosters. That will be all for today.

Notes on the team
The team uses a lot of pitchers per match. At the same time, it's not uncommon to see the starter go deep into the sixth, seventh inning. Using 4-5 pitchers is a decent minimum (for any Ko-orenite team). The team is very aware of speedy players prone to steal bases. The Dragonflies lack fast players, and compensate for that by shifting the defence, and plenty of pickoff attempts. Players are selected for defensive prowess first and for batting second, so mistakes in tagging players are rare.

At the same time, offensively, the Dragonflies can lack firepower. Sure, the batting is deep enough, with several fast players that can reach first base, then a few players that can clean up - but on the whole, for a team ranked this high, there's not a lot in threatening batters. The first 1-2 are OBP monsters, the next 2-3 are RBI monsters - on a good day. On a bad day, only one each of the OBP and RBI greats can pop off. There's a lot of threatening to steal bases, too. Bunting and sac flies are not too common, but players are generally left to their own decision-making whether they want to attempt them.

Culturally, there is a divide between the Western players (those with Hispanic-sounding names), from Finisterre, and the Eastern players (those with Japanese-like names), from Yoshima. The former want to work together as much as possible and are often from a working class background. The latter are extremely defensive of their home state (a group of islands off the east coast), and can be a little arrogant. There have been independence movements. Other names (French, Dutch, Gehrennan, English) are from other regions of Ko-oren, and typically don't occur in baseball very often. They are mostly just happy to be there, but are also usually most in favour of a unified Ko-oren through and through.

Weakest position: right fielder, short stop
Strongest positions: catcher, relief pitching

As with most of this sport, there is some competition between Finisterre and Yoshima. This extends to the home venues as well. Series of three matches are usually scheduled per region (ranked by how often they're used):
1) Katashi: the city of Katashi has several ready venues, including the Katashi Dome (the largest venue of the nation) and Maesaki Park (smaller, but more frequently used by domestic teams). Sometimes even the Heisaka Grounds are used (one third the size of Katashi Dome, to give you an idea).
2) Finisterre: the entire region has several big stadiums and they're almost always sold out if the Dragonflies come to visit. The Citadel (Santa Teresa), Ventovente (Ferrovente).
3) Rest of Leleia: the regions west and east of Katashi don't have the same population as city of Katashi itself, but has a lot of scattered towns with a proud baseball tradition. Twin Field (Nitoya), Obsidian Park (Suvira)
4) Rest of Ko-oren: not everyone plays baseball all the time, yet there are a few diamonds here and there. Le Losange (Aminey), Honrothru-din (Senoren), Vamada Océanique (Étouille), Naminaka Park (Schemerdrecht).
5) Alara and Etena islands: the northernmost islands of Yoshima are baseball-crazy as well, fans come from all over the island just to see a match. Uvesaki Field (Echizen), Vidari Stadium (Teragaseki), Vusodalo Stadium (Teraoka).
6) Selesi island: the second-largest island of Yoshima has only a few venues, being the least densely populated part of Yoshima, but the few places they do have are popular. Ginofruit Field (Arakura).

Postby Ranoria » Sun Jul 12, 2020 4:02 pm

Nashville, Tennessee, Ranoria

"No, no, tell them no!" Leonardo Harrison paced the facility, pinching the bridge of his nose as he held the phone to his ear. "I don't know how many times I have to say this. One million per year, end of discussion. I'm an MVP, and a two time runner up, they're never going to have anyone better. Look, I hired you because I'm off representing our country in the Classic. If they don't want to pay me, I'll take a deal somewhere else. I don't want a long-term contract anyway."

Harrison opened his eyes, free hand moving to his hip as he listened to the person who could only be assumed as his agent respond. "Right, right. I'll talk to you later."

Practice had ended hours ago, but he planned on taking this competition over, and in order to do that he would need to put in extra work, plenty of it.

When he walked into the batting cages, he wasn't surprised to find Nicholas Lux already in one of them, hammering away. If he were being honest, Lux had just a bit better of a bat than he did, while he wasn't quite as good on the defensive end.

Either way, Harrison thought as he picked up a bat, he's damn good at that, too.

Both players were anomalies. Ranorian players were more apt to go play in another country when they realized their talents could be better appreciated, and compensated, elsewhere. It was a self-fulfilling prophecy though. With little talent, the quality of the games diminished, and as that happened viewers were less inclined to watch. Harrison himself was hoping that Ranoria's strong sense of nationalism would draw viewers towards the World Baseball Classic. If that happened, there was a good chance that they would start tuning into domestic games. The league could expand, and he would be paid handsomely for it.

Wham! One pitch, one solid hit.

But he couldn't do it alone. If his team faltered too much, no one would want to see that. He couldn't do it on his own.

And that's where Nicholas Lux came in. Lux had been a pro at 17, just like himself, and was one of the best players Ranoria had to offer. He was the most consistent bat they had, if not the strongest, and was strong down the middle. Between himself and Harrison, as long as their pitcher was adequate, they would have a fighting chance.

After a solid streak of hits, he finally missed, cursing. Lux had yet to miss one since he'd walked, if he was correct, but he was also forced to acknowledge that his worry over Lux stealing the spotlight had spilled over into his own performance. And that couldn't slip, not if he wanted to get paid.

Crack! Another hit. One to end on if he hadn't just gotten started.
Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<

Tikariot's baseball history is not very deep yet, but it is quickly growing. Known for its enthusiastic football (soccer) scene, baseball has never even been on the horizon for Tikariotians, but in an attempt to diversify the national sports landscape, Premier Minister Rodney Vicarage had encouraged the founding of the TBL (Tikariotian Baseball League) to begin building the sport in Tikariot.

While the level of quality wildly varied within the inaugural season, it has begun to attract a small yet fervent following and now the TBF decided to make the jump onto the international scene for better or for worse. Officially called the Tikariot Thunderforge, the team became known for its nickname Devil's Rejects during the recent International Baseball Slam XI, where they had set out to show all the naysayers that this team is more than just a ragtag band of rejects that failed at succeeding in other sports. And they did so in impressive fashion, winning the title in the first ever event they participated in.

The national stadium, better known as Oceanview Park, that will host some matches of the group stage is part of Port Rhovanyon's Sports City, a large area close to the ocean front, where several sports facilities are centrally located. The proximity of the 36,000 seater stadium to the ocean front has proven to be a challenge for both pitchers and hitters with a tendency for unpredictable wind currents to interfere with play, leading to a Park Factor of 125.

With Port Rhovanyon being a major transportation hub, visitors to Tikariot's second largest city can both rely on Luke St. Germain International Airport and the city's expansive harbour to travel to and from the group matches.

ROSTER

Starters
LF #12 Michael Romanov, 27, R - Avanaroch Nightwatch
Tikariot's biggest offensive threat, Romanov has been the runaway home run leader of the TBL. With an incredibly powerful swing he has been dubbed the 'Romanov Rocket' that also has resulted in several doubles and even triples as well as a few injuries in opposing players when hit by the ball. Defensively he is less reliable, mostly due to his lack of speed, even though his arm is very capable. During the International Baseball Slam he proved himself as the team leader with his experience and competitive fire smouldering inside him.

RF #33 Yosvani Fernandez, 24, L - Alcassar Eagles
Also called the Iceman, Fernandez is one player that will not crack under pressure, even if he is one strike away from the team losing the game. His composure has unnerved opposing pitchers many times and while he is not the most powerful of hitters, his aim is uncanny and he can spot holes in the opponent's defense easily. He rose to prominence with his incredible catch in the third game of the semis of the International Baseball Slam, where he stole a surefire homerun and sealed his team's road to the finals.

3B #26 Foster Fleming, 17, L - Avanaroch Nightwatch
Before the International Baseball Slam, Foster Fleming has been one of the budding stars of the TBL, but he surpassed even the most optimistic expectations during the event, garnering the title of Rookie of the event. He promises to grow into an all-rounder, who can contribute both offensively and defensively. Blessed with a strong arm he can cross the diamond with ease and precision also is always good for a home run, unfortunately he is not the most disciplined player and tends to get distracted more than he should. Despite his young age he is, however, the league leader in stolen bases.

C #22 William Carruthers, 26, R - Tikariot Thunderforge
One of the biggest enigmas of the Tikariotian team, Carruthers personifies genius and insanity like no other. He calls the game with the best of them, being one of the TBL's base stealers' nightmares, if it was not for some inexplicable easy errors that some attribute to a few too many stray balls hitting him where they shouldn't. Same goes for his offensive game, which can either be magnificent or go horribly wrong.

CF #67 JJ Bernardetti, 20, R - Port Rhovanyon Paladins
Has a cannon of an arm being able to reach any of the bases from almost anywhere on the outfield, but still has some issues with the precision of his aim. Spotty hitter, often either scoring the homer or going for the strike out.

1B #88 Bronson Ghirardello, 23, R - Tovaca Tigers
Possesses incredible reflexes, which serve him very well on first base, however his arm is his biggest weakness. He will get the ball where it has to go, but lacks the power to go for the quick throws. His reflexes also help him at the plate being able to adjust to the opposing pitcher very well.

2B #7 Vincent Pelmore, 22, L - Oriannor Mountaineers
A rock solid player both offensively and defensively. He will get the job done very unspectacularly and rarely will excite the crowd, but he is as dependable as they come.

SS #2 Carlton Baines, 24, L - Emerald Coast Phantoms
If there is something Baines excels in, it is speed. He reads the game extremely well and manages to to reach balls (and sometimes bases) that he rationally should not be able to. On the plate he is sketchy at best, adopting an all or nothing attitude that so far has not been to his advantage. When he does make it to a base, though, he uses his speed to steal them very efficiently.

Reserves
OF #20 Steven Marangoudakis, 25, R - Baraldhur Behemoths
Marangoudakis is the designated hitter of the Tikariot Thunderforge, but has excelled offensively during the International Baseball Slam as one of the biggest surprises in the team. With a good eye for the ball and a powerful swing, he can hit with the best of them. The defensive side is his biggest weakness so far, where is average speed has gotten the better of him more than once, but he has been running extra shifts with the fitness coaches to improve in this sector.

OF #52 Kieran Fletcher, 18, L - Tikariot Thunderforge
Fletcher is somewhat the opposite of Marangoudakis, being blessed with speed and amazing catching skills, however his offensive play is sketchy and has so far kept him out of regular first team action.

OF #33 Søren Christensen, 21, R - Morannon Militia
Not picked for the International Baseball Slam, Christensen is a solid outfield allrounder who, while not known for any particularly outstanding skills, will get the job done wherever the coaches stick him, making him a very dependable squad player, something that might be worth gold in an event as big and long as the WBC.

OF #4 Blair Consigliere, 26, L - Silicon Triangle Wizards
Blair Consigliere is somewhat of a dark horse in the Tikariotian baseball scene. He has incredible talent both offensively and defensively, but has trouble channelling this talent into consistent performances on the field. He also is known for sometimes hitting up the bar a little too much after a win, which has been a thorn in his coaches' side for a long time now.

IF #6 Corey Allen, 24, L - Paladon Citadels
Allen is small, but quick, making up for his lack in size with speed. Given his stature he has had problems with high balls in the past, but if any ground balls come his way, he's your man. Offensively he has a strong swing, just lacks a bit of precision.

IF #16 Stuart Hernandez, 22, R - Fort Viljan Northmen
Dependable allrounder with a strong arm and precise throw. He is known to mar excellent performances with sometimes very avoidable errors, but if he is on par, he can double play with the best of them. A solid hitter he is not known for many home runs, but his precise swing has him high in the double statistics in the league.

IF #26 Domenico Carsullo, 33, R - Avanaroch Nightwatch
Carsullo is stricken by the curse of age and the late formation of the Tikariotian Baseball League. A wily veteran he can play any position in the infield and perform well, but his age has caught up with him and he unfortunately is past his prime. If he is well rested, he has the potential to be a star player of the team both on offense and defense, however don't expect him to lay down a string of consecutive games.

IF #71 Hamish Shawcross, 19, L - Port Rhovanyon Paladins
One of Tikariot's most promising young players, Shawcross' career has been hampered by injuries, with his right knee being his achilles heel. Having had to undergo two surgeries so far, both coaches and fans are hoping that his knee will finally hold, also thanks to extra fitness sessions with fitness coach Tiffany McFadden. If that is the case, he has the potential to be a starter in pretty much every game.

C #27 Rutger Heidenfeld, 26, L - Soharr Scimitars
Heidenfeld is the almost polar opposite to William Carruthers. Where Carruthers is quirky and unique, Heidenfeld is the grey mouse that nobody hardly notices. He is not known for any flamboyant plays, but while he does not show the flashes of brilliance the starting catcher is capable of, he does not have any of the defensive liabilities either.

Starting pitchers
RHP #4 De'Andre Stevens, 31 - Paladon Citadels
The oldest player on the team, Stevens was instrumental in the establishment of the Tikariotian Baseball League, having played abroad in the past. Equipped with a lethal fastball and wicked slurve, he can mix things up with a good changeup here and there, but lacks consistency in them. The International Baseball Slam has cemented his status as #1 pitcher in the Devil's Rejects.

RHP #37 Patrick Lundgren, 21 - Tikariot Thunderforge
Lundgren has the hardest pitch on the team, but while his fastballs should require a gun licence, he is prone to wild pitches that have spelled trouble for his catcher more than the coaches would like to admit. He has been improving his curveball over the last season and is also quite capable with his slider.

LHP #72 Graham Pettersson, 28 - Avanaroch Nightwatch
While not excelling in any of his pitches, Pettersson is a wylie veteran that is very unpredictable with which kind of throw he'll come up with next. He works extremely well with Carruthers in calling the game and this unpredictability is his biggest asset.

LHP #18 Garrett Yarbrough, 25 - Baraldhur Behemoths
Yarbrough has the potential to become the team's top pitcher with a very strong fastball and excellent ball control with both slider and curveball, with the occasional sinker, but his biggest weakness are his nerves. Whereas Pettersson is unpredictable for opponents, Yarbrough can become unpredictable for his own team once things begin to go sideways. He has been working on it under the tutelage of Stevens, but it definitely still is a work in progress.

RHP #9 Jayson Carfield, 20 - Xanark Sluggers
Originally a long reliever during the International Baseball Slam, Carfield has been promoted to starting pitcher after Anthony Garcia had shown major inconsistencies in his play. A versatile pitcher he has a strong curveball and slider and passable palmball. Despite his age he has has a very calm demeanor, which has helped him during high pressure situations.

Bullpen

Image
Istria City Baseball Diamond, in Istria, Moravica, Banija. Capacity of 41,000

The stadium is located in Rukunbi, a working class neighborhood in Banija's largest city that is about 4 miles away from the beachfront. It has fairly large dimensions, and is consequentially known as a pitcher's ballpark. It is 440 feet to homer to straightaway center field, while it is 350 feet down the left field line, and 370 feet down the right field line. In left center it is 399, and in right center it is 410 feet. However, the spacious ballpark puts pressure on outfielders and advantages speedy baserunners. All home games will be played at this ballpark.

The team used the same roster in WBC 41, WBC 42, and WBC 43.Ever since the disastrous WBC 45, they've overgone an overhaul, with this being the first time no players from the WBC 41/42/43 rosters are being used in a major tournament. While they were able to maintain the same core for WBCs 46-48, a number of players have retired out, giving a pathway for the next generation to take the reigns for the Banijans.

WBBL = Western Banijan Baseball League, Banija's top-flight professional baseball leauge.

Eject my players/coaches: Yes
Godmod other events: Yes (As long as you don't kill anyone, go ahead)

Style Modifier: -3
Park Factor: 75
Other: When we are pitching, they induce a lot of ground balls. The strike out rates aren't terribly high for Banijan pitchers, but they play solid, fundamental defense, and they have strong arms all over the diamond. However, while Banija's rotation is one of the strongest in the multiverse, the bullpen leaves much to be desired, especially the middle relievers, who are well known to be the team's weakest link. For the knockout stages, we'll have one starter in the 4 man rotation available every game for an inning or two out of the bullpen. That is listed in the rotation. If those guys are brought in, it is for an absolute maximum of 35 pitches, however many outs that takes.

Left-wing Utopia

Team Zwangzug, known as the "Zebras," were an early force in the WBC but have since faded from relevance. They competed consistently through WBC31, but since then, their only appearances were in WBC 39 and 40. This did, at least, see Felix Wainwright break the alleged radio announcers' curse. Which doesn't mean we'll necessarily have competent announcers, or any announcers at all; just that we could have some capable of holding down the job for multiple cycles. If we wanted to.

Like their distant ancestors, the Zebras are a defensively-minded team overall, eschewing many power hitters in favor of patience at the plate. Pitchers, likewise, tend more towards finesse than speed. There is no DH used at our home stadium, the Worm Hole (located in Spenson). They tend to be somewhat new-mathy with regards to not bunting, not stealing very much, etc.

Manager: Wenjie Liu (f). Claims to be affiliated with the FTC Secret Squirrels, but given that we can't even be bothered to scorinate our league, we can't even vouch for that. She knows what she's doing, though. (No relation to number 19.)

Factbook is ludicrously out of date by now and just linked for tradition's sake. If you RP first, please follow my lineup and rotation (or ICly justify any substitutions). Feel free to pick my runscorers, RP injuries to my players, and eject my players. You can be relatively creative; however, if you want to do something like literal godmoding, or something that would cause harm to my citizens/in my country, please telegram me first.
