[Abandoned] Repeal: "Commend Helaw"

Postby Servilis » Fri Jul 10, 2020 2:20 am

Security Council Resolution #258 “Commend Helaw” shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

The noble Security Council,

NOTING that all statements regarding Helaw are well and true,

DISSATISFIED that the commendation does not go far enough,

HOPING that another proposal will take note of Helaw's record of Easter Eggs,

HEREBY retires Security Council Resolution #258 "Commend Helaw".

This is just a post to inform people that the resolution does exist and I'd like you all to check it out.

The noble Security Council,

NOTING that all statements regarding Helaw are well and true,

DISSATISFIED that the commendation does not go far enough,

HOPING that another proposal will take note of :
a. Helaw's record of Easter Eggs found, amounting to a number of 13/12 Easter Eggs, which is more than there are obtainable,
b. Helaw's record of Authoring Issues, of which they have Authored 5, 2 of which they have edited,
c. Helaw's record of Editing Issues, of which they have edited 16,

HEREBY repeals Security Council Resolution #258 "Commend Helaw".

Just submit a second commendation commending them for the easter eggs instead of this crap.

I have checked it out and it’s poor. While it’s legal you have done very little work in providing reasons why the Commendation should be repealed. Just a lazy badge hunt as far as I am concerned.

Obviously no support.

Isn't that illegal, you have to repeal legislation before editing it.
After this I'm going to commend them.
And possibly if there's anything that is worth mentioning I'll add that too.
Provided it makes it into Quorum, of course.

Yes I realize that, and if the resolution fails, I'll do more research into making a better resolution.
I mean, it's been 2 years since Helaw was commended.
They've probably made more Issues and such.

You know what, you're right, I should probably scrap it for now.
I'll add on to it later.

None of their issues besides the petitions one count as they were written when they were an editor, making it illegal.

You don't have to repeal, but if you repeal you can avoid duplication.

Why didn’t you do more research for this proposal? And the length of time since Helaw was Commended is irrelevant.

Edit: Also if you wish to pursue this, draft here first before submitting. You will get feedback and advice on the content.

If my second attempt fails, this will become a draft, and upon it just being seen as weak by the community, I will stop any attempts to make it a resolution.

A read of the rules would be helpful, because I’m pretty sure the present attempt is illegal.

I’ll give you a hint - read Rule 1.

I mean you are correct, but not entirely, as prior actions are exempt, even then some change might have still been made prior to Helaw gaining said titles.

I don't see a point in repealing and replacing a well written commendation just because the nominee may have done more since they were initially commended.

Otherwise we'd be writing a lot more repeals, because commended/condemned nations have a tendency to continue making notable contributions past the point where they received the shiny badge.

Against.

EDIT: Do you have a replacement, by the way?

Nope, guess I'll have to cancel this resolution.

Illegal - Rule 1. Any editing of issues is done as an Issues Editor. You cannot mention that. Further, you can only cite authored issues that were "written, submitted and published" prior to them becoming an Issues Editor. So if you're wanting to cite further authored issues, tough.

Then there's a question of whether reference to "Easter Eggs" is a Rule 4(c) violation.

That doesn't leave you with much.

If you write clauses like this:

DISSATISFIED that the commendation does not go far enough,

HOPING that another proposal will take note of

But then don't even bother to draft up a replacement, you do a disservice to a nominee you freely admit is worthy. And it makes me question motive.

Absolutely no support.

I forgot to update the title of the thread, since yesterday, the repeal was abandoned,
