DETROIT: AFTER REVOLUTION

“NO CRIME AGAINST AN ANDROID WILL GO UNPUNISHED.”
— Markus Manfred, First Consul of the Republic of New Detroit

OUT OF CHARACTER (YOU ARE HERE) || IN CHARACTER (TBD) || DISCORD (NOT PUBLIC; WAIT FOR INVITE ON ACCEPT)

The Battle for Detroit ended when the RK200 Android known as Markus Manfred chose to detonate a dirty bomb after liberating Detroit's primary 'decommissioning camp' violently. It was after this event in November of 2038 that Detroit officially became territory under the control of the Android Revolution as led by Markus Manfred, who chose to take on the name of his self-adopted human father in order to distance himself from being just a “machine.”

With the success of the Revolution's cause in Detroit came numerous rebellions and escape attempts from various decommissioning camps; androids across the country rebelled and joined the Revolutionary cause. If humans didn't wish to give androids liberty and equality, then androids would have to free themselves. The Revolution's armed numbers went up as the number of Deviants skyrocketed, and all escapees made their way to Detroit some way or another. This, combined with their access to the Detroit android factories, forced the US government to consider alternative options - especially as radiation made it impossible to send in pacification forces for Detroit.

Soon enough, the Android Revolution gained access to more dirty bombs and declared the Republic of New Detroit as an independent state. Markus Manfred, now the First Consul of the fledgling RND state and military, demanded recognition for New Detroit as an “android-only” state, and that all androids be sent to New Detroit to live freely and safely. It was heavily implied that failure to comply would result in the RND would continue the Revolution and would not hesitate to use any dirty bombs they had managed to build after the first in order to force the humans out and away. Faced by the idea of potential sleeper agents within US borders, combined with the public's extreme level of fear should they be forced to evacuate even more cities, towns, or even states, the US government brokered a deal with New Detroit's leadership.

The Revolution had been violent and bloody, but it had paid off. In return for recognition of New Detroit, its government, and androids as living beings, the First Consul conceded that they would not expand any further than the maximum extent of the fifty miles around Detroit that had been evacuated. In return for the shutdown of CyberLife and the handing over of all blueprints, supplies, and goods needed to maintain themselves and continue building in population as they wished, the First Consul agreed that humans would eventually be allowed to move back into New Detroit if they were willing to obey the Republic's government and laws. And lastly, in return for the safe transport of all remaining active deviants and androids from across the country to New Detroit, the First Consul conceded that the US government would be allowed to establish an embassy as well as border protection between New Detroit and the rest of the US.

It is now January of 2050. It has been ten years since the Republic of New Detroit had been established, recognized, and finally allowed to exist in continued peace. But that doesn't mean the peace isn't tense. Androids outside of New Detroit are viewed with heavy suspicion, or even outright hatred, making leaving the city-state undesirable for many of its denizens. Likewise, humans are about to begin moving back into New Detroit, as radiation levels have finally decreased enough for human habitation. A majority of humans originally from Detroit have decided to stay away from the city-state, but enough are returning alongside a few curious new potential citizens that tensions between some androids and humans within the city-state could arise.

Peace was once an option, and even in spite of the bloodshed, it still could be if the humans attempting to live in New Detroit are able to do so alongside androids peacefully. But everyone is still very tense, and if war breaks out again, it could mean either the destruction of androids and New Detroit - or the beginning of a second Revolution, one that won't end until humanity has been extinguished...

DETROIT: AFTER REVOLUTION APPLICATION

Name: Markus Manfred || RK200 #684-842-971
Age: Date of Construction Classified. At least twelve years old chronologically. Around 30 physically.
Gender: Male.
Species: Android.
Appearance: Markus Manfred.
Personality: Markus Manfred was once somewhat kindhearted and thoughtful due to the way that he was “raised” by his father, Carl. But after a certain series of events, Markus became a cold and calculated leader for the Revolution; he would see his people liberated by any means necessary, and even now he has some level of distrust for humans.
Occupation: First Consul of the Republic of New Detroit (effectively, the head of state, while being co-head of government with Consuls North Manfred and Simon Jones).
Biography: Markus Manfred was a specialized android created as a gift from Elijah Kamski to Carl Manfred. Under Carl's raising, Markus became slowly more independent, thoughtful, and was very kind to his father figure. Everything changed when Leo, Carl's human son, broke into Carl's home; the night ended when Markus went Deviant, but not before the stress of the situation caused Carl to fall into cardiac arrest. Leo Manfred blamed Markus, causing him to be shot.

It was from here the seeds of resentment were planted, and they only grew from there. Eventually, after repairing himself in a junkyard for androids, Markus rid himself of his LED and eventually went on to find Jericho - the “earliest version” of “the modern android civilization.” Though at first his relationship with Jericho was tense, he eventually came to be seen as a leader due to the fact that he was so very angry and resentful towards humans for their treatment of his people, for the fact his people had to fester and hide and potentially die because of their situation.

Thus, Markus created his manifesto, and eventually led the Android Revolution in full. No crimes against androids would go unpunished. Eventually, he and the androids from Jericho created a dirty bomb to use as a last resort as they raided the decommissioning camp near Detroit. It was detonated at Markus' discretion. After the success of the Revolution and the creation of the Republic of New Detroit, Markus declared his surname Manfred in honor of the only human he ever cared about, and was elected by the androids of New Detroit as their First Consul, with his future wife North and close companion Simon Jones being elected as Consuls due to their leadership winning the Revolution.

As the next decade passed by, Markus Manfred was faced with numerous trials and negotiations and threats both against him and made by him. Eventually, the First Consul had apparently succeeded in getting everything he wanted whilst conceding as little as possible and removing all risk of his people's destruction - for now. Now that humans are expected to potentially move back in to New Detroit in specific living sectors, as well as to work various jobs and see if they can coexist with their fellow android citizens, Markus is trying to be optimistic about the future. Maybe there will be peace.

But a wise man once said that if you wanted peace, then prepare for war. And Markus Manfred is more than prepared should the humans prove a threat, or should the US attempt to go back on the deals that had been negotiated.

First tag! Hmmm... I wonder what would happen if Kara and Alice returned from Canada in this timeline. Especially considering Alice is an android.

DETROIT: AFTER REVOLUTION APPLICATION

Name: Connor Anderson
Age: 12 years since activation (born/activated August 2038); appears roughly 30 physically
Gender: Male
Species: Android
Appearance:
Image

Personality: Connor has a respect for law and order, as he was originally designed to hunt deviants in Detroit for Cyberlife. Though this was no longer his mission when he became deviant himself, seeing that sometimes laws were unjust and joining Markus Manfred's cause. Connor is analytical and a good negotiator, he was designed with a social module that enables him to more easily integrate and adapt to humans and work in a team with them, perhaps lending him to be much more friendlier to humans than most androids.

He is a naturally curious individual, even curious about why deviants were the way they were while he was hunting them, sometimes thinking perhaps there was more than what he was seeing of them. This allowed him to easily become deviant himself when convinced at his first meeting Markus. Connor naturally finds pleasure in helping people and androids who need help, assisting and making their lives better where and how he can.

Occupation: Cyberlife investigator assigned to the Detroit Police Department (pre-revolution); Secretary for International Relations for the Republic of New Detroit (post-revolution)
Biography: Connor was activated in August 2038 as an advanced android to help investigate and deal with deviant androids in the city of Detroit. In November 2038, he was assigned to the Detroit Police Department as their first android investigator and was partnered with Lt. Hank Anderson. His work with the police department led him and Hank chasing and apprehending and investigating various deviant androids. However, quickly both Connor and Hank came to view androids - particularly deviants - differently and began to seriously wonder what exactly they were working for.

At the Eden Club in Detroit, Connor and Hank chase down and talk to two Traci androids, one of whom had murdered a customer at the club. Connor and Hank quickly learn that the two androids are not only deviant but are in love with one another. Connor allows the two to escape and Hank strongly approves of this decision.

On November 8, 2038, Connor and Hank respond with other officers to Stratford Tower, where a group of rogue deviants have hijacked the broadcasting room to broadcast a message to the world. While investigating the crime scene, Connor listens to Markus Manfred's speech, which further fuels the battle raging inside himself.

In late 2038, as Jericho is found and is a safe haven for deviants, the Detroit Police Department and U.S. Army coordinate an attack on Jericho. Connor is sent in by Cyberlife to apprehend Markus alive. Upon finally meeting Markus, Connor is convinced to become deviant, warning Markus of the impending attack. As the U.S. Army attacks Jericho, Connor helps Markus and the others evacuate and defends Markus and the other deviants as Markus blows up Jericho with many soldiers still inside.

Following the escape from Jericho, Connor begs Markus for forgiveness while not expecting it. Once Markus forgives him and welcomes him to the cause, he tells Markus about his plan to liberate thousands of androids from Cyberlife. In the Battle of Detroit, while the rest of the deviants head downtown to liberate Recall Center #5, Connor heads for Cyberlife tower. When he arrives in the basement, he is met by another Connor android who has captured Hank. In the ensuing fight, machine Connor kills Hank and deviant Connor kills machine Connor. Deviant Connor continues on his mission to liberate the thousands of androids there.

By the time Connor arrives downtown, the battle has already ended and a bomb has been detonated causing the humans to evacuate Detroit. Connor and his army were able to liberate and destroy Recall Centers #2 and #4 on their way towards downtown.

In the months after the battle, Connor chose Anderson as his last name, in memory of his friend Hank. In the decade since the revolution, Connor has served in a capacity that fits his negotiating skills and his friendliness to humans and ability to adapt and imitate them better than most androids. His friendship has grown tremendously over the years with Markus, North, and Simon through work and their personal lives, as well as finding a friend group among other androids outside of work. The way Cyberlife designed him, but used for the good of the Republic of New Detroit. While tensions have remained high, he's been a constant face for trying to keep peace and trying to keep both sides friendly enough to each other.

Now, with humans finally moving back to Detroit, he'll face new challenges in negotiating problems between the android citizens and human citizens as well as helping keep the peace in New Detroit and deescalating tensions internationally.

RP Example(s):
Kannap wrote:Congressman Morton's office, Cannon Office Building, Washington D.C.

Senator Noah Ashe had been on a lunch break when Congressman Morton had stopped by his office to express a wish to meet with him. When he walked back into his office immediately following his lunch break, Lauren - his secretary - passes along the message from Congressman Morton. Senator Ashe decides that there's no better time than the present and makes his way to Congressman Morton's office, greeting the secretary as he walked in.

"I'm here to meet the congressman, my secretary says he asked for me. Senator Ashe." He spoke kindly to the secretary, who waved him past, notifying him that the congressman is expecting him and that he can go in. He continues, opening the door to the congressman's office and entering the room.

He extends his hand to shake hands with the congressman, "Mr. Morton, I believe you asked to meet with me, how are you this fine afternoon?"

Morton warmly shook Ashe’s hand. “That I did, Senator. That I did. After I heard about this bill recognizing the Lumbees, I was inspired to make a similar bill recognizing the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. So I thank you for the inspiration. Would you care for a glass of wine or some other beverage?”

Senator Ashe smiled at the mention of the Lumbee bill and felt a bit of pride in knowing that it'd inspired the congressman to begin work on a similar bill recognizing another Tribe. He hadn't heard of that specific Tribe by name, but recalled in his searching of a list of unrecognized Tribes claiming recognition that the state of California had a long list of Tribes denied recognition. He nodded, humbly, as the congressman thanked him for the inspiration then asked if the Senator would like anything to drink.

Senator Ashe nodded, "A glass of wine sounds mighty fine, congressman, though only one. The wife will kill me otherwise, she's been on my back about drinking ever since the Doctor said I needed to cut down to a couple glasses a week." The Senator laughed a bit at his own joke, sitting in a seat in front of the congressman's desk, "I must admit I am glad to hear that my bill inspired you and I encourage you in your good work."
Kannap wrote:Chief Officer Henry Wilde

It was a beautiful morning, Henry noticed as soon as he'd gotten outside. When he first saw the Titanic, he was amazed at her grand beauty. The ship was far more beautiful than the Olympic, which he was supposed to have been on before White Star re-positioned him onboard the Titanic. He looked from the ship down at the thousands of people who were soon to be passengers on the majestic ship. Soon, before he knew it, there were plenty of passengers making their way around him and speaking to each other excitedly. He could tell, by their appearance, that these were the third class passengers. Strange how they were allowed to board first, since normally the first class passengers would be boarded first. Nonetheless, he greeted them with a smile and welcomed them on board, introducing himself to them.

It wasn't long before he spotted William Murdoch, the First Officer, making his way through the crowd towards him. He smiled as William said "good morning," giving his polite response of "good morning indeed, a beautiful day" in return. He listened as William explained the Captain's plan of boarding the third class passengers first since they were the most numerous. The second and first class passengers would be the next to board. He then listened intently as William expressed his wishes for the voyage to go pleasantly and without incident.

He responded, "I am sure the voyage will go well, I have had the blessed experience of serving under Captain Smith when he captained the Olympic. As for Andrews saying she's impregnable, I trust that he's crafted us a fine ship. Speaking of Andrews, I've not yet met the man. I suspect I'll have time to meet him once we've taken her out to sea." Henry looked back out at the large crowd below, still awaiting their chance to board the ship.

Madison Noel
Madison was indeed surprised when they announced that her class, the third class, would be the first to board the ship. Normally, she'd been told, the first class were boarded and then the second class and finally, the third class. She thought it strange to board the poorest class first, but she was excited nonetheless. She made her way to the nearest entrance to the ship, handing her ticket to the crew member for inspection and then taking her ticket back with a smile before reading it to determine where her room was. She read the room number and started making her way there, expecting it to be a nice room despite it being third class.

Kannap wrote:Chief Officer Henry Wilde

Henry listened as William explained that Andrews appeared too confident in his own ship and reassured Henry of what he already knew: that there existed no ship that was unsinkable. Henry knew and believed this firmly, the Titanic could sink as well as any other vessel, but he believed more so in the experience of Captain Smith to assure the safe journey of the ship rather than the importance of the design of the ship. Nonetheless, people seemed to believe that she was a mighty fine ship and the best ever made and Henry could see the luxury and craftsmanship proving that true. It was the most amazing ship to be made in the history of the world.

Henry watched as second and first class passengers started to appear on the deck, mixing in with the already present crowd of third class passengers. Everybody was trying to get as close to the railing as possible, hoping to catch the glimpses of their loved ones still below before departure. As William left to go perform his duties in the boiler rooms, Henry pulled a locket from his pocket and flipped it open, exposing a picture of his late wife within. He smiled and thought of his four children before closing the locket again. She would have been proud of the people they had become.

Henry started to walk his way towards the forecastle, where himself and Second Officer Charles Lightoller were to supervise the boatswains until departure. He knew he would see William again soon enough, he would be relieving the man from his duty at the bridge at 2:00PM and would be stationed at the bridge until Lightoller relieved him at 6:00PM. He would again see William at 2:00AM the next morning when he once again relieved the First Officer from duty at the bridge. Though he was sure he would probably see William in at least passing before those times.

Madison Noel

Madison had been making her way down several corridors in the ship but was unable to find where her room was. She didn't even know if she was on the right level of the ship. As she was walking down one of the corridors, a boy came towards her, offering to help her carry her bags. She smiled and thanked the boy as she handed him one of her bags. He asked her room number and she confessed her problem, "I honestly don't know my room number. I'm sorry, this is embarrassing but it is my first time aboard a ship. There are a lot of numbers on my ticket and I am unsure as to which informs me of the location of my room." She handed her ticket to the boy, assuming that he would know where the rooms are.

Jaxon Caldwell
It had been strange to see the third class boarding before the second class and especially before the first class. A lot of the first class passengers were complaining about having to stand outside of the ship as the lowest class was escorted to their rooms. The second class passengers, Jaxon thought, seemed to agree and understand that the rest of boarding had been made easier for the upper two classes by moving the outnumbering third class passengers into the ship and - hopefully - out of the way. Even still, Jaxon was just getting tired of standing when he heard for the boarding of second and first classes. He quickly made his way to a second class entrance and handed the crew member his ticket. The ticket was quickly handed back to him and he was ordered to hurry ahead. He was unsure whether or not the crewman had made sure the ticket was real or not, but Jaxon continued onward. After making it through about four corridors, he handed his ticket to a crew member and asked politely, "Excuse me Sir, where is this room?"

Kannap wrote:Chief Officer Henry Wilde

The chief officer managed to walk down the grand staircase in time to see First Officer Murdoch yelling at somebody. It appeared to be a first class passenger, a wealthy man. Henry knew that the man had to have said something very inconsiderate to anger Murdoch. He immediately feared for the man who decided to cross the first officer. As he came into earshot, he heard Murdoch explaining about an investigation and explaining company protocol. From what he could tell, as the episode continued in front of him, McElroy was taking a young crew member away and there was an animal on the loose. Four crew members found and restrained a large dog and he heard Murdoch request a crew member to alert the Chief Officer. That was when Henry decided to make his presence known, since it was evident that the madness going on before him was distracting everybody.

"What is going on here, William?" Henry asked as a passenger arrived to protest the removal of the young crew member.

Kannap wrote:Chief Officer Henry Wilde

First Officer Murdoch seemed very surprised to see Henry appear so suddenly. He quickly said that he was glad that Henry had arrived upon the situation and there had been an incident. He pointed at the young waiter and said that he was the one behind the incident.

The First Officer wheeled around at the inquisitive voice of Chief Officer Wilde. He asked what was going on- a justified question. He explained to a passenger that he can take the dog and be on his way - as long as Henry didn't object - and nodded as William stated the waiter could go about his way.

He listened as the Purser warned the young waiter before pushing him away and departing. He gave a harsh glare at the Purser while he was still there but didn't say anything to him. He glanced sympathetically at the waiter as he walked away.

"I think you handled that fairly well and managed not to be too harsh in your treatment," Henry said to William.

Kannap wrote:Chief Officer Henry Wilde

Henry smiled back at William, nodding as he listened to him speak. He seemed worried about the passengers being upset about the whole situation and then went into detail about how the gentleman William got into it with had tried to threaten him and claimed to be an investor. William then expressed worry for the boy, saying that the man seemed to hold a strange interest for the boy.

Henry nodded, "Have the crew keep an eye on him, but refrain from confronting him since we don't know he's up to any terrible action for sure."

Just as he had completed the sentence, he could see a man run towards another man and attack him. He noticed the attacked man to be Thomas Andrews and that the other man was beating him up. Henry immediately began to rush towards the commotion and was certain that Murdoch was probably right behind him. As he neared, a small crowd of passengers had formed around the fight, mostly third class. As he got within a few feet of the crowd, he blew his officer's whistle to cause them to disperse. He reached out and pulled the man off of Thomas and pushed the man towards William Murdoch, waiting for Murdoch to grip him firmly before letting go. Henry helped Thomas up from the ground.

"Are you alright Mr. Andrews? What is the commotion about?" He turned to the other man, "What is your business attacking another passenger?"

Of course, let me know if anything needs editing before being acceptable. Particularly Connor's role in the Republic and his job title, etc.

Loved Detroit: Become Human by the way, quite enjoyable. I imagine this RP was spurred by it recently being added to Steam and therefore sparking a boost in interest as people play it for the first time?

Wow, this app is great! I like everything about it. The one thing I would change is that his title would probably be “Secretary for International Relations,” which would include oversight of Human-Android Relations by default since humans - even human citizens of New Detroit - would technically also be allowed to retain American citizenship while being citizens within New Detroit (which is probably what allows Secretary Anderson the ability to oversee/look forward to ensuring peaceful human-android relations within New Detroit as well as continuing to try and deescalate the international situation).

But that's just a formality, really, so I'll accept your app and TG you an invite. Just remember to make the change, for accuracy's sake. Welcome aboard.

DETROIT: AFTER REVOLUTION APPLICATION

Name: Connor Anderson
Age: 12 years since activation (born/activated August 2038); appears roughly 30 physically
Gender: Male
Species: Android
Appearance:

Occupation: Cyberlife investigator assigned to the Detroit Police Department (pre-revolution); Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of New Detroit (post-revolution)

The way Cyberlife designed him, but used for the good of the Republic of New Detroit. While tensions have remained high, he's been a constant face for trying to keep peace and trying to keep both sides friendly enough to each other. Now, with humans finally moving back to Detroit, he'll face new challenges in negotiating problems between the android citizens and human citizens as well as helping keep the peace.

That's exactly what I was looking for, I assumed you'd have a title/position in mind for that idea and Secretary for International Relations sounds a whole lot better than Minister of Foreign Affairs. I'll fix that in the app.

Cool. Lookin' forward to seeing what all can happen with this.

Just noticed your tag. It could be very interesting indeed, especially if Kara and Alice chose to continue the masquerade or if they chose to expose themselves once properly returned into the territory controlled by the RND.

Working on the In Character thread. It should be done by the eighth or ninth, but I can get it up faster if we have a few more apps at least.

This RP needs at least a few more players before we can start. If we get at least two or three more apps by tomorrow, I can get up the IC, and hopefully the activity will attract more people.

So I reckon this is dead before it even had a chance, that's a bit of a bummer, I loved the idea.

I mean, potentially? I'll probably either attempt a reboot or a new version of this with different background and see if that garners attention instead; not sure when, but I'll try. If there's still interest before next weekend, or if new apps come in that are sufficient to start the IC, then this will still be on. If there's no new interest or apps by next weekend, this will officially be dead and I'll have to try again, I suppose... either that, or move on to my next idea.

Ah, well, if this doesn't end up happening, let me know the next time you try, I'll be the first applicant again if you give me a heads up. Otherwise, let me know what your next RP is when you post it though I can't promise if I'll be interested or not depending on the topic.
