Hello and Welcome friends to "Legacy"

The Empire of Victoria XI has stood for centuries in service to humanity on the galactic rim. The empire came to being as a response to the chaotic anomalies that ravaged the Arcadia Gap and cut the region off from the core of mankind's cultural and political centers. Ever since this second empire of mankind has sought to weather the storm, ever vigilant against possible external dangers. After the alien powers in the immediate vicinity were conquered and the reality of their distance from the rest of mankind set in. Decadence took the place of vigilance, maneuvers became parades, and despite the separation of distance and time this empire began to look all too familiar to the one in mankind's heartland. A detail which became an all too lethal reality for Queen Victoria XI, whose untimely and "accidental" death on New Years day in the year 4539 has created a brewing succession crisis in the empire.

"Legacy", is an RP where Players will develop a House or Chapter or Colony of the Empire of Man, ruled by the late Victoria XI and with the heir being too young to take over the empire sits on the knife's edge of uncertainty. Victoria's Rim will soon fall into strife and it will be up to the players to chart the path.

Creating a House, Colony, or Chapter.

This RP is supposed to be free and simple for players joining in. Every "WHITE" circle in the map above is a open and available for a player to claim. Below is an example and acceptable nation. I encourage you to follow along with this example and develop your nations to the same quality. Hopefully we can get a big enough turn out that each spot is filled with a player (21 in total). I also encourage unique systems, there are alot of stars out there not all of them with a "golden world" in them. Another thing to note this is the "Empire of Man" I would like human characters however I am not opposed to developments of other species that are on the planet as well as your Human population. For example, the example has a population of Robots. Subservient entities that one day might be a little less Subservient and more independent.

Ontairs Rim:

Ontaris Rim is the name of the solar system in which the planet Elysium resides. With 13 major stellar objects within the solar system, the gas giant Olympus which Elysium revolves around is 3rd farthest from its sun Ontaris. The other stellar bodies are listed in order going from the center out;

Ontaris A is a Class A star. Relatively young star boasting a blueish-white colour.

Promethus B is a significantly smaller Class A star orbiting the larger Ontaris A in a stable orbit.

Infernus is a small Molten world that is without an atmosphere and the planet is covered with lava lakes and constantly erupting volcanoes.

SAA298, SAA3450, and SAA2192 are asteroids of significant size residing in the asteroid belt that surrounds Ontaris, Promethus, and Infernus.

Olympus, Elysium and Isolla's Stone all reside on the far side of the asteroid belt where both Elysium and Isolla's Stone revolve around Olympus (With Isolla's Stone orbiting Elysium). Elysium receives significant light from Promethus B (PB) and Ontaris A (OA). As a result, Elysian nights are never dark during half of the Elysian year, but instead are more like Earthly dusk. At the closest point in its orbit, PB is about 2,300 times as bright as Earth's full moon; at its furthest point, it is still one hundred and seventy times as bright. During the other half of the year when PB is in the daytime sky, many Elysian nights are illuminated by both Olympus's huge disk and the reflected light from Isolla's Stone. Truly dark nights are uncommon. Olympus occasionally eclipses PB and OA at night for about one hundred minutes, but the light reflected by the planet still keeps the night from being dark. When PB shares the daytime sky with OA, at its closest it adds about half a percent to the total illumination. When the 2 stars are close together in the sky, the effect of PB's more blue light is unnoticeable. But, as they separate over the years, an Blue tint may be seen in areas shadowed from OA's direct illumination. At its most distant, PB is about 2,700 times dimmer than OA and does not produce noticeable lighting effects. However, it still appears as a blindingly-bright tiny blue disk in the sky. Because of its high axial tilt (29°), Elysium exhibits considerable annual variation in the day-to-night ratio. In addition, its elliptical orbit produces seasonal temperature variations and a range in daytime illumination of about ten percent. Also because of this, the fog and cloud cover that would normally cover the planet is reduced to only low altitude areas which frees up one of the most beautiful night sky with both Olympus and Isolla's Stone clearly visible during sun set and dawn which instead of the horizon of Elysium signalling the start of a new day like it would on Earth, Olympus would show it as Elysium orbits out from behind Olympus.

Marble is a barren planet null and void of life.

Hyperion and Helios is a Gas Giant and Frozen world with Helios ice ball orbiting the much larger Hyperion gas giant.

Tumbleweed is a barren planet in an unstable rotation yet remaining in orbit thus its name "Tumbleweed"

Grimwallder is the first planet discovered in the solar system by a astrologer, Dr. A. Grimwallder.

Planet of Elysium:

The planet of Elysium is a Tepui World (Hot and Wet Climate). A mountainous and rocky world with a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere. The hydrosphere is mostly low altitude seas with rivers and waterfalls feeding into them. Which in turn causes a considerable amount of fog and cloud cover. Therefore in the higher altitudes, standing water is rare with plants relying on mist, rain and sometimes only fog to sustain them.


With this in mind, most Elysian Cities are small compact areas occupying the little areas of man made flat regions. Where whole cities are built up along a cliffs edge and up mountain sides. Even the capital city where the government of the planet resides: Ravaryn, has dug into the mountain as well as built up the mountains side to accommodate more people.


Culture of Elysium:

The notably Martial Meritocracy of Elysium has developed a culture that stands apart from its original roots on Tallis (Throne of the Late Victoria XI). As part of the human Empire of Man, Elysium has developed to meet the harsh realities of the world they settled on. From the original landings on Elysium. It was generally accepted that they would no longer be known as Tallisan's but Elysian. Captains and Colony Leaders put forth the motion to develop Houses. The Houses are familial groups from each colony ship. Out of the five original ships 5 houses would be created; House Kastor, House Isolla, House Larkin, House Aaryn and House Iversen. These Houses were to develop their own cities, infrastructure and government. This incidentally created the Elysian culture as well. With each city and composition of equipment, personnel and supplies the 5 original cities could be built. Each house would specialize and develop their "home cities" as best they could. However this didn't come easy to the Elyisans. With limited space in which to land their colony ships a communal nomadic culture was developed. The space for building and infrastructure could only be pushed so far before they wouldn't be able to build more, to avoid this each House ended up developing "sub-houses" to develop their own cities on neighbouring plateaus or mesas. Each sub-house would support their Familial House to their home city and their Familial House would be supported by them in return. These Houses would focus on the requirements of their Familial House freeing it from that burden so it could focus on its specialty. For example;

House Kastor is the most industrious of the 5 main houses. Its colony ship was in charge of bringing the Tallisan engineers and Militia to Elysium to protect the colony from outsiders. Among these engineers were Mechanists, those that excelled at Robotics. These Mechanist developed and field tested the first Elysian robots to assist their home city of Veluca. This allowed House Kastor to be the first established City weeks before the other houses. They were also the first to develop sub-houses to send out to assist other Houses to develop their cities as well. Once completed these sub-houses returned to Veluca to find that they were to remain outside the city and they were to develop their own cities to quickly further House Kastor's control over the area they landed in. Normally this would have been a major upset to normal humans however the pioneer spirit instilled into them from the start allowed them to understand the reasoning why. The city was full and wouldn't be able to accept the sub-houses back from their months of being away. Developing new cities on nearby area's would support the growth of their Houses' standing.

The other two traits picked up by the Elysian people were the ability to learn quickly skills that would be required once they arrived on Elysium which was developed on Tallis during the selection process of pioneers. The second was after landing on Elysium, the natural ability of all Elysians to develop an almost perceptive ability to see what they were building from plans that were drawn up this was also known as Spatial ability that is the capacity to understand, reason and remember the spatial relations among objects or space. This was the stepping stone to develop a Nation state of natural engineers. This along side their trait for quick learning the Elysians were able to establish themselves as a strong vassal of the Empire of Man before the death of Queen Victoria XI.

Once the Houses of Elysium had developed enough the Capital City of Ravaryn was developed to serve as a seat of power. Each of the Houses and their sub houses worked to create the first star-port on the planet on an exceptionally large Mesa. The seat of government and main military base resides there as well. This with the help of Militant members of House Iversen with their strong martial focus and House Isolla with their mercantile prowess allowed for the development of the population base of Ravaryn. House Aaryn developed the smaller outlining cities which would feed into the larger one. Finally House Larkin developed the governmental system and how each of the houses would provide to the whole. Eventually the Grand House of Ravaryn was created and a member from each house would live with their families in Ravaryn and help run the main facets of the Elysian government and planet.

Economy of Elysium:

The Economy of Elysium was support by House Isolla more than any other house. They bartered the items, equipment and even the robotic synthetics developed by House Kastor out to the wider empire. This allowed for House Isolla develop a tidy sum of credits after the Development years. House Isolla has remained nomadic, even more so than the other houses. As no one not even the sub-house: House Novak, the ones assigned from House Kastor to help build their home city. When they arrived House Isolla were nowhere to be found and their original ship gone. The landing zone had been cleared and a few structures remained at the site. As they approached, they found a few denizens and a holo-panel which a simple virtual intelligence was housed. House Isolla had brought several merchant ships with them and had quickly developed clandestine landing zones near each developing house. It seem even the large colony ship was already back and out of systems to the other planets under the Queen Victoria XI's control and was trading and bartering what they had. The merchant ships were supplying and exploring the planet beyond where the original Houses landed, gathering resources. This went against the original agreement among the Captains which was pleaded by House Isolla denizens to the House Novak members not to tell. House Novak's leader Ibrahim Novak decided to wait until House Isolla's Captian had returned to talk the matter over with him. They eventually did when he did return with a ship laden with supplies, grade A foodstuffs, weapons and ammunition. He pleaded his case with Ibrahim to not tell anyone what he had done and swore and Oath to protect House Novak if things went poorly for them if they were found out. They were of course, months later and House Isolla ready with supplies at their clandestine landing zones gave a huge hoard of Credits, food and supplies. This placated the Houses, but awoke something of an idea. The landing zones were revealed and each house gave extra Goods that they created on the planet to sell to the wider Victoria's Rim and other houses on the planet. This was the creation of the Elyisan's Economy and trading guilds.


Government of Elysium:

In the absence of Queen Victoria XI and her grip over the empire the Government. The Great House of Ravaryn with its 5 Ministers and 25 Councilars, each representing ever House and their Sub-Houses. This small group represents the entire population of the Planet of Elysium. This created the standing government of Elysium. Each of the leaders of the Houses got there from experience and the ability alone. While the system has a great possibility of misuse this was idea was lessened by the Communal Familial Group that made up each house. If the misuse of the system got out the whole family's reputation would be tarnished. This developed the idea to teach civic duty and personal responsibility to each Elysian child which reduced this significantly.

Elysium Now:

In the current state of affairs, The Elysian's are at a crossroads. Do the A. strike out and develop their own nation, or B. stay true to the Empire of Man. It is known that with Queen Victoria XI's death there is a gap in the usual line of succession and there is no one old enough to take her place. Some Elysian's want the Houses vie for control over the empire or at least the sector they reside in. Some suggest a period of isolation. One thing is clear: conflict is on the horizon and the governing council has restricted its goods for the time being to their region in space. They have also called upon the Houses and Sub-Houses to raise their militias and house guards to protect their holdings on the planet and in their solar system.

Regiments of Victoria's Rim

Now part of the inspiration for this RP was Victoria Miniatures, a growing company from Australia. The creators their create Guardsmen alternatives for the War-hammer 40K universe. However they themselves have a different perspective a removed section of humanity as I am attempting to portray in this RP. Its only right to help you guys with your Nation Creation with something solid. Each of these Minitures below have be sculpted and painted by the fellows over at Victoria Miniatures (and you should totally check them out, this isn't a promotion its my personal opinion).
