Yes, this is just a feature of NS, it's unchangeable.

However, you can make Factbooks about your nation. In them, when you detail what your nation is like today, you can include what your population is for your "Tough Little Country" idea. You can elaborate on the Tough parts in the Factbooks as well, and let you be more detailed than just the basic NS states.

You can delete your forum post if there hasn't been anyone who commented below you. Click the 'x'between the 'edit' and 'quote' on the top right corner. However, if you're too late, you can edit your forum post and change its content to —DELETED— or whatever.

No you can't. Frankly the population is just a measurement for how old your country is. More frankly you shouldn't be too reliant on the game's version of stats when it comes to forum roleplays.

It is technically possible to freeze (but not decrease) your population by update surfing at major update (midnight EST, 5am BST, 1pm Taipei time) - that is, if you are in Region A and that region has not updated yet, move to Region B which has already updated and stay there while Region A updates.
