Should Native American Nations be made independent countries

So I had this idea recently while I was at work and it really got me thinking. In my state we have several native American reservations, one being located just outside Mount Pleasant, and each is home to the Ojibwe people. Native American tribes are often referred to as nations and the reservations are given alot of legal leeway in the states, like different regulations on hunting and fishing or the establishment of casinos. Each nation elects its own leaders and representatives and has official tribal governments. But what if, just for hypothetical proposition, in an act of reparations for the past oppression of the Native Americans, we granted independence to a particular native American reservation or all native American tribes in general? What if we took white pine reserve out in the Dakotas, closed the other Sioux reservations nearby, and granted an amount of land equivalent to that of the other reservations to White Pine, and then moved in the other reservations' populations? Do you think it would be a good idea to allow a native American reservation and furthermore a nation to declare independence from the United States? My opinion is mixed, since I believe in self determination but also could see economic issues due to the inland nature of a reservation like White Pine, but other people I'm sure have different opinions. Does anyone here live in a reservation? Let me know down below.

Yeah, about five seconds after posting this I started noting the similarities between this idea and Bantustans and said "oh shit."

One difference would be that we wouldn't force people in this scenario to go move there. If someone lives in Minneapolis and is Sioux, and White Pine becomes its own country, they could still live in Minneapolis and be a US citizen.

On the one hand, I like self-determination. On the other, I don't like cutting out parts of your country and turning them into small, poor states which kinda reek of solving a problem with your country by removing it from your country, not solving the problem by solving the problem.

I mean...probably not, unless they're dying to secede. Even then, with the corrupt governmental institutions in most reservations, in addition to a high reliance on the federal/state governments, I don't see something like that working all too well for everyone.

If certain nations wanted to, they should go for it. However, I doubt many nations will if they got the opportunity; especially those nations which own and operate casinos and other entertainment ventures. The hassle of customs is bad for business, especially when it's the casinos and such breathing new life into, or at least keeping food on the table in a lot of these places.

It's not legally the case at all. A nation does not a country make. Hungary as nation existed centuries before the modern borders of Hungary were even dreamt of. Same with Poland, Russia, and China.
