Catholicism in YN

Postby Grande-Louisiane » Mon May 04, 2020 10:17 am

In Louisiana, the Roman Catholic Church is the state religion, and the Federal Kingdom is officially "Catholic and conservative." In practice, Catholics make up the commanding majority of Louisianians (about 3/4), though considerable syncretic, Protestant, non-religious, and Jewish minorities exist and enjoy equal political and religious rights since the 1960 amendments to the Faith and Expression Act of 1907.

What about your nation? Is Catholicism official, illegal, or non-existent there?

In The Allied Tribe, Catholicism is the most common religion. Our Catholic population is mainly Roman Catholic, but we have other Catholics as well. Roman Catholicism is unofficially the main religion in The Allied Tribe, although we also have a large Sunni Muslim and Christian Orthodox population.

All organized religion is banned in the Adrestian empire. So yes, Caholicism, but more specifically the Holy See and the clergy that run it, would certainly be banned, although the religion has never been practiced in Adrestia.

Catholics make up about one third of the population of Al-Rum, although in Al-Andalusia this rises to almost a half of the population, mostly concentrated in the northern and eastern extremities of the province and gradually reducing in numbers the closer to the Mediterranean you get.

These Catholics are split into two rites. About two-thirds of Catholics adhere to the Visigothic (or Latin, with liturgy celebrated in Latin or Gothic) rite which remains fully linked to Rome. About one-third adhere to the Mozarab (i.e. Arabic speaking) rite, which retains links to Rome but has become increasing detached. Mozarabs generally live in major urban areas and are very Arabized in culture and outlook. Mozarabs are typically more loyal to the regime.

Catholic Christianity is the official state religion of Portugal (this one, not the RL one). It enjoys special protection and treatment in law. For example, the police are not allowed to make arrests in a church without the permission of the parish priest, or in a monastery without the permission of the abbot. Only the Corpo d'Inquisidores (religious military police) has standing law enforcement powers on Church property, and authority to arrest clergy. In addition, clergy members have the right to have all their cases heard in ecclesiastical courts instead of the civil courts.

Roman Catholicism was the only accepted religion between 1576 and 1936, a testament to the legacy of the Spanish Empire here, and remains the monolithically most common form of Christianity practiced by the religious population, which is in itself a majority that counts as 92% of the populace be them regular attenders or lapsed Catholics.

HOWEVER, the heavily syncretic, that is culturally mixed, form of Catholicism that most Palmerans practice also synthesized many traditional native beliefs focused on Animism and ancestor veneration which resulted in a lot of anti-Dogmatic practices. So it is best to say that Folk Catholicism is the most prevalent form of Christianity in the Palmeran isle.

Roman Catholics make up around 30% of Shurdington's population; the established Church of Shurdington, formed by a separation with Rome in 1850, considers itself part of the Old Catholic tradition. As with most religions, Roman Catholicism is tolerated and there are no restrictions on members of that church.

I mean there's a chance the Holy Church acknowledges it as a lesser religion to manipulate to get the greater populace in the fold. However there is one true God, the Scorched God. To quote Death Grips to sum up the eventual attitude the Church will take towards "Catholicism": "I close my eyes and seize it; I clench my fists and beat it; I light my torch and burn it."

Roman Catholics only make up 8% of Thermodolians. Like England, Thermodolia split from Rome in the 1400s and established their own church.

However due to the massive distance between Rome and Thermodolia the pope had no idea what happened until 1502.

Roman Catholicism makes up 68% of Christians in the country (Christians account for 75% of Religious people), thus Roman Catholicism is put as the "Official Religion." Although, this does not mean that it is the mandatory religion that everyone must follow, just that it is the majority religion of the country (HUElavian Constitution allows for Freedom of Religion).

The Confederation is a higly non-religious nation. The Constitution didn't expect state religion, and mandate the complete separation between the State and religion.

Actually, under an unofficial statistics, the Catholic are the 0.40% of population with ca. 438 000 members, who identified as Catholic Christian.

Although the British pacifiers who occupied the land which composes of modern day Xaojie were Anglican and set up Anglican churches and cathedrals, Catholicism still composes a sizable amount of the nation's Christian demographic. Catholicism is the most prevalent in Canton Province where missionaries from Kouang-Tchéou-Wan and Macau spread in to convert people to Catholicism before the occupation first happened and the four provinces were still just provinces of the Republic of China. This catholic population continued to live on in Xaojie. There are several diocese networks with sizable populations of people adhering to the denomination, an Anglican Church of Xaojie, a Methodist United Methodist Church of Xaojie and the Roman Catholic Church.

Catholicism is legal here, just any other religion, but they are not the majority. The largest religion in Kedri is the Church of the Sea God, while Protestants are the single largest Christian sect within Kedri.

Catholicism is a foreign and imported religion in Feyrisshire. While there have been historical missions of Catholic missionaries to Feyrisshire, such missions won very few Feyris converts, and Catholic missions sent during the 16th and 17th century gradually lapsed into obscurity.

Catholicism in Feyrisshire has seen a revitalization since its modern opening but most Catholics in Feyrisshire tend to be foreigners, such as Filipinos, Americans, Canadians and European diplomats, businesspeople, foreign workers or expatriates. Catholic churches and Catholic clergy, by consequence tend to foreigners as there are very few Feyris followers of the Catholic faith in Feyrisshire.

The views of the Communist Party of Feyrisshire to Roman Catholicism in its jurisdiction can wildly fluctuate, from outright hostility to careful suspicion. The Catholic faith in Feyrisshire is regulated by the Council of Religious and Spiritual Affairs. Government intervention has spurred the establishment of the Feyrisshire Catholic Association and the Apostolic Prefecture of Feyrisshire but these are viewed by outside observers as a ruse for the Communist government to better regulate Catholicism in Feyrisshire.

Missionary activity and proselytization of Catholic clergy to Feyris girls is banned as "reactionary religious fundamentalism" and the observance of Catholic Masses are monitored by the government. Feyris girls themselves have a negative view of Catholicism in general, seeing it as either an unnecessarily dogmatic and superstitious faith, a foreign import or simply as a dangerous competitor to Kyrieism and Ryeifinism.

Catholicism is legal, albeit highly rare in our nation, most Christians in our nation are either Protestant or a member of the Russian Orthodox Church.

However we will note that Reginald D. McFatton, Jr., Prime Minister from 2006 until 2018, was a practicing Roman Catholic.

A slim majority of Bulgurdians (30%) adhere to Roman Catholicism, compared to the 28% of all forms of Protestantism. To emphasize religious unity within Christianity, no denomination of the religion is the official religion, with Christianity in general being the official religion of the Kingdom. However, the country has historically aligned itself with Catholicism, as all rulers of the Kingdom from it's birth have identified as Roman Catholic.

The national religion is Feline Catolicism, which is a syncretic religion combining traditional cat-herder paganism with the Roman Catholic religion brought over by the Spanish.

The cities are closer to mainstream Christianity, while the rural areas are pagan with a thin venerr of Christian window dressing.

The church jealously guards its autonomy and is closer to the Old Catholic Church of Utrecht than the Roman church.
