The Future of China

Postby Australian rePublic » Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:44 pm

In the past few years, Xi Jinping's reign of terror has seen problem after problem, after problem. From protests in Hong Kong, to massive droughts and water crises, to the most recent, global problem- Covid-19. Covid-19 is particularly nasty for the CCP, because this effects the whole world, not just China itself, and the who world is pissed with the calamity and pestilence which was grossly mismanaged by the CCP. From The CCP seems unable to control the Hong Kong protests, is receiving bills from all around the world to demand compensation for Covid-19, and bases its entire legitimacy on its ability on its economic growth. Given that the economic growth had started to stagnate before Covid-19 crisis, and many, who are pissed with China, are moving their industry away from the totalitarian state.

This begs the question, what do you think is the future of China? What do you think is the future of the CCP?

I think that the CCP's days are numbered. The CCP was already struggling to hold on to Hong Kong, and I saw a state-run propaganda program implying that they may have conceded defeat on that front. Countries which used to kiss-up to China are now really getting the shits with the way they've handled Covid-19. Lay people, who were ignorant to the CCP's scumminess have no woken up to the scumminess, thanks to Covid-19 Combine all this with the fact that most modern-day totalitarian regimes have a life expectancy of approx. 70 years, and China has just reached that milestone, I think that it's the beginning of the end of the CCP's reign of terror. I just hope that whatever replaces them is better. I would say that I hope that they're not worse, but from the oppression of ethnic minorities, to the disgusting social credit score system, to the debt traps set by the Belt and Road initiative, to bullying neighbours in the South China Sea, to actively going of their way to avoid preventing a deadly to spread globally, I don't see how any regime could get much worse.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."

The only way China can feasibly and realistically see regime change is when the Chinese people rise up and destroy it. Tiananmen proved that peaceful protest wasn't going to work. China's nuclear arsenal prevents liberation via invasion without risking total annihilation. Chinese industry dominating global trade through monopolies on manufacturing strengthens it's position as an economic power.

The only way the PRC falls is if the people topple it. Bad as COVID-19 is, I don't think China's mishandling of it has what it takes to push the Chinese people to take action. This is a state that isn't afraid of gunning down it's own people in cold blood. Any rebellion will need wide-spread popular support and heightened resolve.

..which these days is nigh on impossible given tracking and surveillance. If anything the virus has strengthened the CCP hand given the extent to which they now monitor and record your every movement.

Meanwhile..

China has also been flying regular fighter patrols near Taiwan, which China claims is part of its territory despite having never governed the island. In mid-March the People’s Liberation Army sent warplanes across the median line of the Taiwan Strait, and briefly approached Taiwan. The move, which analysts said was at least partly to intimidate Taiwan, prompted Taiwan to scramble fighter planes to intercept.

China is also sending military flotillas past Taiwan and Japan on a semi-regular basis. Last week a six-vessel strike group led by China’s only aircraft carrier sailed through the Miyako Strait and past Taiwan, under watch by the Taiwanese and Japanese defence forces.

In January, a military flotilla, again led by the aircraft carrier, passed through the straits of Taiwan.

I will honestly not be surprised by an invasion of Taiwan, maybe a low percentage chance but this past few months has really pissed China off given last year's election results, the whole WHO thing and then people pointing to Taiwan's relative success in containing the virus.

Anyway, it's 2020.. bad juju year.

China won't last forever, obviously, nothing does. I don't see it falling soon or easily, however. Hopefully I am wrong on both points and one day the Chinese can enjoy life free of the monstrous CCP.

Would it, would the US at this point go to war over an island.. I suspect the CCP is very much calculating that.

Like I say, I put the percentage chance as low, just I wouldn't be surprised. The point is that the CCP is absolutely strengthening its grip on China not loosening it.

China is the next sole hyper power on the planet.
The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

For what has been shown of after the pandemic there, things seem to have gone right back to the way they were before CoVID19 so I don’t foresee any changes to the CCP or China in general. How the world views political relations with China however? That may change.

What people? The priority for China is internal stability, and a good victory, something Xi Jinping has stated as his personal ambition, would bolster the morale of the faithful.

CCP has done a good job turning the people of China around into thinking an authoritarian government is a good thing, especially in comparison to the disastrous handling of the virus in the West. Basically handed them a PR victory on a platter.

I am 100% confident that the CCP will maintain their rule over the People's Republic of China for at least a few more decades.

The Communist Party of China will endure. They still have many developing countries ensnared in their belt and road debt webs whose corrupt leaders would have no problems with living rich off Chinese money while their countries become Chinese colonies. Domestically, they will probably survive by just becoming more tyrannical and stepping up their brainwashing and misinformation propaganda efforts to make it look like all their problems are caused by the Americans, Japanese, and those "reactionaries from the rogue province of Taiwan."

Actually they've kind of got worse, as noted their surveillance is fully ramped up under the guise of monitoring the virus, they're buzzing Taiwan, they've completely broken the One Country Two System in HK, arrested plenty of dissidents..

..what will be interesting is the upcoming June 4th anniversary of Tiananmen, I can absolutely tell you the people of HK will be out in force, would be good for the whole world to turn out and show their support for better freedom of information and less general dictatorial repression.

A lot of it stems from recent times, with the US basically abandoning its allies and interests in the rest of world in a number of cases. China is taking advantage of that and it at the very least makes them appear to be a rising power.

Ultimately the US will be fine, they have something China doesn't, space and resources. India's continental collision with Asia however many millions of years ago screwed up a huge amount of China turning much of it into desert.

So it's really about how isolationist the world goes and, I'm afraid, the anglo world at least seems to be going increasingly isolationist.

So China will also be fine, it's just the rest of Asia that has to worry.
