Mental patients : Dangerous or Not ?

I’ve got a question to ask. Do you feel mental patients are dangerous ? I don’t. However, I know we aren’t trusted by people as a whole.
How did you come to your opinion about mental patients ? Have you been attacked by one ? Do you feel there “demon possessed “ ? I know this isn’t long, but I would really like to know !

I was murdered by a patient of a psychiatric hospital just a few days ago while out walking my dog. This is more than enough reason to conclude they are all possessed by demonic forces from beyond the stars.

I feel we are not, usually. But people believe we are dangerous somehow. I have been seve rap mental institutions, and I hav e never seen any violence there. So why is it we are we blame for it ? I really don’t understand the discrimination against us . When ever some nut shoots people, they instantly blame us and again, I got to ask “Why” ?

The vast majority of people with mental health issues are not dangerous to anyone. They're just people with a health issue, much like someone with asthma and the like.

There is a deeper concern here than just them being a danger to them self and others. It's the effect their presence on the street has on the overall safety and health of the community. The Broken Window phenomenon is a well known thing after all. So really it all boils down on how disruptive they are (or not) to society around them and not how violent they are. And that is going to depend on the individual.

Not dangerous.

People with mental illness are generally not dangerous. I know this from my anecdotal experience and professional encounters. I think the greatest danger comes from the fact that our communities aren't very equipped for supporting people with mental illnesses, let alone physical disabilities but that's a separate matter entirely.
