How is banning drugs suddenly decreasing stratification?

Recently I just answered an issue which concerned drug use. Naturally I chose the option where all drugs would be banned, and suddenly my socialism completely spiked.
How does the prevention of drug-consumption increase your chances of being a socialist?

The game doesn't track "socialism", it tracks "economic freedom". If the government intervenes to restrict the market in any way, such as by banning the sale of particular types of goods, that's considered to move you further away from a capitalist economy, even if social equality was not your main purpose.
