Our previous comment from the last Senatorial elections remain valid in this instance:

We can vaguely recall when there was a referendum on whether to retain Vladimir Katayev as President-for-Life. What motivates the Utadarstani government to hold a Presidential election now, and how does the PLP with 13/60 Senate seats get to have the Premier?

The opposition parties are all loyal to the government and only exist to create the illusion of democracy in Utadarstan. Vladimir Katayev has stated multiple times that he will accept the election results regardless of the outcome, though foreign leaders are skeptical of these claims.

Incumbent President Kanan Hamid of the ruling National Front encourages Utadarstan to respect the will of the voters, while also warning that instances of fraud will be strongly condemned by the international community. Ironically, President Kanan has also been accused of holding fraudulent elections and ruling Jacharia as an authoritarian dictatorship.

Leading opposition figure Lam Ming-yeng, who has declared victory in the yet to be decided presidential election, has urged all Utadarstanis to boycott the election, pointing out that a minuscule percentage of Utadarstanis have Internet access, and has also offered asylum to Utadarstani opposition leaders due to the threat of arrest, torture and extrajudicial killings should they remain within the country.

When asked about the topic, President Kanan refused to endorse any party. Lam similarly refused to make an endorsement, despite having made previous comments supporting Green leader Ivan Gachev after his resignation in 2017, seen by many pro-democracy activists as forced.

The People's Liberation Army's cybercrime department (officially nonexistent) is suspected to be hacking the election in favour of the Maoist People's Liberation Party in an attempt to expand Jacharia's sphere of influence.

We don't support anyone officially, because we believe Utadarstanians should decide for themselves whom to vote for. Of course, we would love to see the elections being more fair, but that is just our opinion. We will however finance any campaign that supports secularism, humanism and atheism.

President Li Wong Chen supports Robert Siyalov, but we think Utadarstan is a dangerous communist regime using this election to distract everyone from what's actually happening behind the borders. Vladimir Katayev is a dangerous dictator who is probably developing nuclear weapons.
NOTE: This nation takes place 3 years in the past, which is 2016 right now.

The Jacharian government's stance on the Utadarstani election remains unchanged following Ivan Gachev's surprising first round victory, though President Kanan Hamid encourages Utadarstani voters to exercise their voting rights come 25 April.

The opposition provided an official statement congratulating Gachev on his victory, while stating that the Green Party would have likely won a higher percentage of the vote had the election been held to international standards.

Meanwhile, the attention of Jacharian troll factories and the PLA cybercrime department was turned to elections at home, which were narrowly won by President Kanan despite massive irregularities. The head of the cybercrime team, who remains anonymous, has pledged to aid the Katayev campaign in any way possible.

An intern with the Ko-orenite foreign ministry is tasked with responding to the Utadarstani elections.

Basically, the government supports Gachev's Green Party, but is also suspicious of the legitimacy of the elections - and wishes to include a note on how the ministry doesn't exactly know Gachev's, or his party's, stance and reputation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indocia gives its full support to Ivan Gachev and the Green Party, but doubts the legitimacy and integrity of the elections and asks election officials to allow foreign observers into Utadarstan to ensure that all Utadarstanis are able to exercise their democratic rights freely.
