Anime (or your universe's eqivalent) in your nation.

Postby Zeganas » Mon Mar 23, 2020 10:43 am

Anime, we all know about it. Some optional questions below if you wanna answer.

How big is anime (japanese (or equivalent) animation) in your nation?

Is it made within your nation or is it from another nation?

Is it not called anime but has the same animation style as anime?

Is it banned even?

In Zeganas's universe there is no Japan but the closest thing we have is the republics encompassing greater Saishikara, which has a population of 270.5 million people. Its culture is unique compared to the rest of the United Republics but in some regions there has been a merging of Baristolan (our universe's equivalent to Europe) and Saishikaran culture. And anime is no exception.

Anime is very popular across the whole nation and the style of animation has been adapted to "regular" cartoons and tv shows (in the same regard as netflix in real life has adapted shows for live action) in the last couple decades.

Considering our nation's large Japanese population, anime and anime-influenced animation is highly popular in the Democratic Republic.

While broadcasts of some early English dubs of series such as Astro Boy, Speed Racer, and Gigantor were broadcast on Gandoorese television in the 1960s, it would not be until the 1970s when the 'anime boom' is considered to have begun in our nation, as the more serialized and somewhat more 'serious' stories of some anime proved to be more popular than Gandoorese cartoons that existed at the time, most of which were episodic comedies without any real overarching plots or anything.

As one would expect, both old and new Gandoorese animation studios would attempt to mimic the popularity of these foreign cartoons, with some merely trying to ape the art style of some series and yet others attempting at a more 'serious' story while retaining a more Western-style of design.

In the modern Democratic Republic, many animated TV series are influenced by Japanese anime, although it should be noted that, just like within Japan, the term 'anime' is often used to refer to any animated series or movie from our nation, even ones that don't particularly look like the stereotypical depiction of what an anime looks like.

This is only semi cannon as of right now but Purpelia is the home of Anime style animation in my region. Semi cannon though. Not yet certain.

On the other hand much of Purpelia is basically Japanese Porn Cartoon / Comic come to life, right down to people being unsure if a fishmongers is or isn't an adult toy store, so I guess you could say... well something. And that's a hard fact.

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The above post contains hyperbole, metaphoric language, embellishment and exaggeration. It may also include badly translated figures of speech and misused idioms. Analyze accordingly.

Anime does exist in HUElavia's Universe, created by the Yamoto People. There are some animation studios in the west in the Japanese areas that produce anime, and it is very popular in the country. A vast majority of the youth enjoys it a lot, and a small amount of adults enjoy it as well.

There are several channels on HUElavian TV dedicated to different genres of Anime.

Anime is considered cancer by most people in Ruritane. Most people who like anime belong to the Cult of Moe and/or support the independence of the Nyaa Republic. So yeah.
