Star Wars: Retaliation (Reboot, OOC, OPEN)

Postby The Imperial Republic » Sun Mar 22, 2020 8:45 am

The year is 19 BBY. The Clone Wars have entered their third year, leaving behind it hundreds of star systems ravaged by the galactic warfare between the Grand Army of the Republic and the Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Despite the bloodshed, destruction, and death, there is hope: in a desperate attempt to recover from it's losses, the Separatists launched an assault on the capital world of Coruscant, resulting in a costly victory for the Republic. With the death of Count Dooku and mounting success in the Outer Rim by the Republic, it appeared that the war would come to a close within months.

However, the Jedi Order, the defenders of the Republic for thousands of years and the generals and commanders of the Clone Army for the duration of the war, will not live to see the end to the conflict. After a failed attempt to arrest him by the best Jedi Masters the Jedi High Council had to offer, Darth Sidious, known publicly as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, has declared Clone Protocol 66, or Order 66, to be enacted. It was not long before the Clone Army turned on its former field leaders, killing thousands of Jedi within hours. Unknown to most, one of their most promising members would see to the end of their Order and lead the 501st Legion into the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, shedding his former title of Jedi Knight and donning the mantle of Darth Vader. Known as Operation: Knightfall, the Grand Army of the Republic ensured the sacking of the Temple and the deaths of so many Jedi traitors. Despite the formal destruction of their organization and their home, Some Jedi would survive, either through luck or sheer will.

But, what if, instead of disappearing into the shadows, the Jedi stood firm against this new Galactic Empire? What if they fought back to prolong their survival, even if it meant the end of the Jedi forever?

This is where the RP begins. You will be assume the role of a Jedi approximately one hour before Protocol 66, stationed at the Jedi Temple or anywhere of your choosing. Once your allies turn on you, you will be responsible for your own survival and Should you manage to do so, you have two options: hide or retaliate. Flee or Fight. Will you be the stubborn flame that will do what it must to keep the Jedi Order alive or will the embers of the Light finally die out and allow the Darkness to shroud and rule the galaxy?

Rules
  1. No Godmodding: Essentially, you are not invincible, you do not have infinite knowledge and you are no Grand Master.
  2. Be Realistic: As the name suggests, your kind have just been labeled traitors to the Republic after the failed assassination by the Jedi on the Chancellor during a time of war. Most of the Republic civilianry will see you as traitors and turncoats. You will not have a large number of allies left. You will be, for the most part, alone. Of course, there will be those sympathetic to the Jedi and refuse to believe Lightsiders could do such an evil thing. They will be few but they are out there. Your best chance will be to locate those allies or seek out Jedi survivors.
  3. No meta-gaming: Do not use information from the OOC to your advantage in the IC. Enough said.
  4. Limited forces: Though transition to the Galactic Empire will take months, you will face the full power of the Grand Army of the Republic, your former allies. Those that ally themselves with you are placing great peril upon themselves. You will never have an army, nor a fleet that can contend with even the smallest of Republic flotillas, but you have each other and small groups of soldiers and starfighters.
  5. No Canon characters: No one can RP as a known character from Star Wars (Obi-wan, Darth Vader, Chancellor Palpatine, etc.) except for the OP or Co-OP. If you wish for one of those characters to make an appearance in your post, then telegram me and I will be more than willing to do so.
  6. Limited number of characters: You can create more than one character, but I put the limit at two.

Punishment for violating the rules are as follows:
First Violation- Warning
Second Violation- Final Warning
Third Violation- Ban from the thread

First SW RP I join. If there is any problem with app, do tell. :)

Character Full Name: Yang Su-Wei

Gender: Male

Race/Species: Human

Age: 35

Physical Appearance:

Image

Homeworld: Dantooine

Personality: Stoic. He prefers not to talk, especially about his personal life or emotions, and tends to be a private person. He tries, and manages most of the time, to remain calm and in control of himself. When he encounters a problem, he prefers negotiations and scheming to action but, if necessary and there is no other alternative, he is willing to use as much brute force as is necessary to solve the problem. If he believes that achieving his goal will overall be beneficial for everyone, he is willing to compromise Jedi principles to do so, albeit rarely and only after convinced that there is no better course of action. He is well-versed in military tactics as a result of his experiences in the Clone Wars.

Biography:

Yang Su-Wei was born in Dantooine to a family of farmers. As a young child, it was discovered that he had force abilities and he was taken in by the Jedi Order for training. He trained as a Padawan under Zel Keraz, a (male) Twi'lek Jedi Master. He managed to distinguish himself not so much due to his lightsaber of force abilities (though he was slightly above average in both), but due to his remarkable emotional self-control and his ability to assess in a logical, cold manner each situation.

In the Clone Wars, he distinguished himself as a Jedi Knight by taking part in numerous battles, though he preferred staying behind the lines and directing the Clone troops (acting as a field commander) rather than actively engaging in battle: thus, he saw relatively little actual combat compared to other Jedi, but he gained far more experience on battlefield tactics, taking an active role in organizing battle strategies and engaging with logistics, finances and other technical aspects of warfare.

He is now in the Jedi Temple, awaiting for his next assignment...

Lightsaber:

Image

Force Abilities:

He is exceptionally good with mind control and force push. He has also mastered Jedi breathing, allowing him to withstand (for a limited period of time) poisonous gas.

Preferred Saber Style: Form V: Shien / Djem So

Secondary(Second favored, Optional) Saber Style: None - Yang has preferred to focus on one saber style to master it completely.

Location (Prior to Protocol 66): Jedi Temple

RP Sample:

I haven't played in many character RPs. Here is a post from one character RP I've been: https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?p=36624886#p36624886

And a link from a political RP I've been: https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?p=36610103#p36610103

Not much action, but my character will generally try to avoid combat. I've also written some SW fanfic in the past.

•Character Full Name: Martius Shan

•Gender: Male

•Race/Species: Human

•Age: 35

•Physical Appearance:
Image

•Homeworld: Brentaal IV

•Personality: An honorable man and devoted adherent to the core tenets of the Jedi Code, those who come to know him will find that Martius is a devoted and loyal companion.

•Biography: Born into a family with a long history of a strong connection to the Force going back countless generations, it was no surprise when Martius was discovered to be Force Sensitive. He was brought to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant while still an infant, and was raised by the Order. Like many younglings he trained under Master Yoda for much of his youth, until completing his Initiate Trials at the age of 10 and becoming a Padawan. A natural with a lightsaber, he caught the eye of the Echani Jedi Master Meetra Fenni, who would go on to select him as her apprentice. Eager to impress his new Master, Martius was extremely diligent in his training with Master Fenni, and learned a great deal in a short amount of time. Meetra was impressed enough by Martius' performance that she even began to train him in the Echani martial arts in addition to his Jedi studies.

After learning the basics of the lightsaber forms, Martius decided to focus his studies on Form V Djem So, which he studied with his master and further supplemented with the Echani techniques she taught him, and Form III Soresu, which he learned from the Jedi Battlemaster Cin Drallig alongside a number of other Padawans. When not studying on Coruscant, Martius accompanied his Master on a variety of adventures (and the occasional misadventure) ranging from mediating negotiations to battling pirates in the Outer Rim. While studying for his Trials he also became very interested in Galactic History, particularly when he learned that an ancestor of his named Satele had once been none other than the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. History continued to be a major point of interest for him, even after successfully completing his Trials and becoming a Jedi Knight, to the point that he even once considered becoming a full-fledged Jedi Historian.

The ever growing troubles with the Trade Federation and the increasingly popular separatist movement would, unfortunately, keep him too busy to do so however, and while he still studied as much as he could while in transit or during a rare break, much of the next few years would be spent in skirmishes and (typically unsuccessful) negotiations with the groups. Things would soon come to a head when Martius received a message from his former Master requesting that he join her and her Padawan in a Jedi Strike Team that was being assembled to rescue two Jedi and a Senator who were being held captive on the planet Geonosis. Sadly, though Martius and Meetra both had seen more than their fair share of combat by this point, the small engagements they were accustomed to simply could not prepare them for the scale of combat they would face on that dust-covered world. Though Martius would survive the battle, thanks in large part to ARC Commander Maverick, the clone who would later become his XO, his Master was not so fortunate. In the wake of Meetra's death, Martius began devoting every waking moment to honoring her memory and sacrifice by doing everything in his power to preserve the Republic and the Jedi Order by winning the war they were now faced with, and putting an end to the Separatist uprising once and for all.

The death of Meetra also left her Padawan, Arven Visz, without a Master. Feeling he owed it to his Master to finish the young woman's training, Martius requested to be made Arven's new master and the Council gladly agreed. As the Clone Wars officially began, Martius was made a Jedi General and given command of the 53rd Legion, and new Padawan at his side, he set off to combat the Separatists. His devotion to the cause and desire to find justice for his Master would serve him well over the next two years as he led the 53rd in battles all over the Galaxy: from the crystalline skyscrapers of Christophsis, to the shadow world of Umbara, the dense jungles of Felucia, and most everything in between. Martius, Maverick and the 53rd all fought valiantly in each engagement they found themselves thrust into, and the Jedi General received numerous commendations for his actions in the war.

About a year into the war however, Martius became quite worried about Arven; though she was a good student and progressing well in her training, he noticed a great anger gradually building inside her as she combated the Separatists. No doubt this was due to the death of Meetra, a pain he understood only too well, but as her anger continued to grow unchecked he worried it might draw her towards the dark side. As his methods of emotional control didn't seem to do much to help Arven, he contacted Master Windu to ask if he could help teach his Padawan to better control the darkness growing inside her. After meeting with Arven, Windu agreed to help, and took her under his wing for several months to help train her.

Martius meanwhile was assigned to retake the planet Garos IV in the Mid Rim, and proceeded at once to the world with his Legion. The fighting was brutal, and though Martius was badly injured by Separatist artillery he refused to leave the planet and continued leading his troops from the frontlines. After giving an inspiring speech, Martius personally lead a final push into the enemy's command center, driving the last of the Separatist forces off the world. For his actions on Garos IV, Martius was awarded the Cross of Glory and given a brief leave to recover from his injuries.

Once he'd healed up he was reunited with his Padawan, who thanks to Master Windu's training had managed to get her anger under control. Having successfully accomplished that task, Windu informed her he believed she was ready for her Trials and Martius happily agreed. With her experience in the war, Arven easily passed her Trials after which Martius proudly prepared her for her Knighting Ceremony. A short time later, the High Council informed Martius that, for successfully training a Padawan to Knighthood and his tireless service to the Republic, they were bestowing the title of Jedi Master upon him and promoting him to the rank of Senior Jedi General. Thanks to his extensive study of history, he was also offered a seat on the Council of First Knowledge which he gladly accepted, allowing him access to the Holocron Chamber and Holocron Vault.

Martius studied the incredible knowledge made available to him whenever he could, and took a particular interest in the histories of the ancient conflicts that had been recorded by Master Gnost-Dural. Utilizing the knowledge gained from his studies, Martius adopted new tactics, often preferring surgical strikes and diversionary feint attacks to conventional tactics, which helped lead his Sector Army to numerous victories in the Outer Rim Sieges with minimal casualties. Martius' final assignment was to liberate the planet of Ord Radama, though the battle was to go far from how he'd planned it...

•Lightsaber: Martius uses a crossguard lightsaber with a blue blade and a songsteel hilt

•Force Abilities: As a Jedi Guardian, Martius' Force training primarily revolved around developing abilities to use in combat and to better supplement his saber forms. As such, he is highly skilled in abilities such as Force Strength and Speed, Force Jump, Telekinesis, Tutaminis, and Precognition, though his general skill in most non-combat related Force abilities (such as Force Heal, Force Cloak, Beast Control, etc.) is comparatively lacking. As a Shan, Martius also has an innate talent for Battle Meditation, though it's an ability he has yet to discover (at least consciously).

•Preferred Saber Style: Form V Djem So

•Secondary(Second favored, Optional) Saber Style: Form III Soresu

•Location (Prior to Protocol 66): Ord Radama

•RP Sample: Previous iteration

Here's the OP's application

•Character Full Name: Vrudun Tumara

•Gender: Male

•Race/Species: Zabrak

•Age: 26

•Physical Appearance:
Image

•Homeworld: Iridonia

•Personality:
As a Jedi Knight, Vrudun has become one with the Jedi Code, living by it's tenets and dedicating much of his time to meditation when not in service to the Grand Army of the Republic. As so, he is disciplined and determined to completing the mission over all.

•Biography:
Vrudun was born in 45 BBY on Iridonia and like many of his fellow force-sensitives, was found by Jenassa Artine, who was only a Knight at that time. After approval from his parents, Vrudun was removed from Iridonia and taken to Coruscant, where his new life as a Jedi Initiate was set to begin. He was placed within Wolf Clan, given his Initiate robes and sent on his way.

Early life in Wolf Clan was fun for Vrudun. He worked hard to overcome challenges, intense studying, and endless hours of listening to his Jedi Clan Leader drone on and on about the histories of the Order, early interpretation of the Force, and the Jedi Code. His favorite portions of this time was learning of the different forms of Lightsaber combat. He made many friends during his time in Wolf, including Shingi Gynkaff, a Rodian initiate. They weren't the first two Initiates to get into trouble, but they were certainly memorable, especially when the deemed it a good idea to attempt to climb the exterior of the Reassignment Council Tower. They got half-way before a Master below noticed laughter from above. After being retrieved by the Temple Guard upon completing the climb, they caught serious flak for the attempt and were punished for months on end, such as quarters confinement and custodial duties.

Vrudun's Jedi Initiate Trials were no challenge for the Zabrak. The first test: memorization of the Jedi Code, was a breeze since his clan recited the motto once in the morning, in the afternoon and before bed. His second test was construction of his lightsaber and a test of lightsaber combat with a hood, which Vrudun failed once, then succeeded on his second attempt. For his third and final test, he was sent to level 1316 with Jedi Master Jenassa Artine to assist Coruscant Police with a murder case. Vrudun was instrumental in using the force to determine the species, height, weight, and appearance of the murderer and three hours later, the perpetrator was caught. It was then that Master Artine decided he was ready for the next step. Upon graduation from the Initiate Corps, Jedi Master Artine, the first to discover him and set him on the path of a Jedi, accepted him as her Padawan. He was saddened to discover that no-one had accepted Shingi as his Master and he had little choice but to join the Jedi Service Corps as a member of the Exploration Corps.

For many years, Padawan Tumara and Master Artine served throughout the Galaxy, including Ord Mantell, Vandor, Tatooine, Ryloth, Felucia, and Mygeeto, mostly on good-will missions or relief aid assistance.

When Jedi Master Mace Windu led a strike team of 212 Jedi to Geonosis to free fellow Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padawan Anakin Skywalker, Tumara and Artine were spared the death of nearly all of the Jedi at Geonosis and were instead kept at the Jedi Temple in case they were needed elsewhere. With the reveal of the Grand Army of the Republic and the beginning of the Clone Wars, life would very soon change for the two Jedi.

As the Clone Wars raged on, Jedi Master Jenassa Artine and Padawan Vrudun Tumara were made Jedi General and Jedi Commander, and placed in command of the 404th Battle Corps, with Clone Commander CC-5754 "Taz" in second-in-command. The two Jedi participated in the Battles of Ryloth, Mygeeto, and Umbara. Padawan Vrudun eventually became friends with Taz and two ARC troopers, ARC-5569 "Pack" and ARC-5678 "Jazz". As they participated in more and more battles, Vrudun would come to see them as brothers, eating meals with them and fighting alongside them.

Padawan Tumara was eventually promoted to Knight after his valiant service alongside his Master, who recommended him for the promotion. Though no longer his Master, Jenassa pushed for him to stay with her in the 404th Corps. Her request was denied and Vrudun was soon transferred to the 53rd Corps and promoted to Jedi General. Though he would miss serving alongside his Master, they would stay in constant communication. Days before the Purge, in coordination with the siege of Mygeeto, Tumara's 53rd Corps was placed in charge of invading Metalorn, a planet vital to the Techno Union. After a brief but hellish orbital battle between Republic Venators and stock and reserve Separatist cruisers, the Republic begins their initial landing in the refinery city of Denkoll, facing hordes of Separatist battle droids and Skakoan militias alongside his first-in-command, CC-3787 "Cutt". The fighting was heavy but would be nothing compared to the chaos that would accompany Protocol 66.

•Lightsaber:
Image

•Force Abilities:
Force Jump
Vrudun has the ability to augment his jumping power through the Force, allowing him to easily launch himself up thirty feet or more.
Force Push/Pull
Like every Jedi, Vrudun can push or pull objects and people.
Force Speed
Vrudun can manipulate the Force to enhance his agility and speed for a short time, though the more he uses it the faster it drains him of stamina.
Force Stasis
Through extensive training with Master Artine, Vrudun has received a proficient experience in controlling Force Stasis, the ability to momentarily freeze two or more opponents in stasis. Though it drained Vrudun physically, it was only to be used in a worst case scenario because of the toll it took on the Knight's body.

•Preferred Saber Style:
Form III: Soresu
In Vrudun's time, lightsaber to lightsaber combat was becoming more and more rare. As such, Jedi needed to be able to deflect blaster bolts in order to survive. As such, Vrudun has mastered Soresu.

•Secondary(Second favored, Optional) Saber Style:
Form V: Djem So
Despite the decline on lightsaber combat, Master Artine ensured that her Padawan would be prepared for any circumstance, including fighting another lightsaber user. Djem So was chosen as Vrudun's secondary style. Because of Djem So's focus on strength, Vrudun completed very strenuous physical training.

•Location (Prior to Protocol 66):
Within the city of Denkoll on Metalorn, fighting through to the City center, where the Separatist-aligned Skakoan militias and Droid Army command have established a battle command post.

•RP Sample:

Previous Star Wars RPs.

This sounds interesting. One question, though. Can more than one Jedi be present on the same battlefield? Like if I wanted to post my Jedi on Metalorn, just on a different section of the planet?

Hmmm...On one hand, I like Star Wars RPs...on the other hand, I'm not sure I can do a Jedi very well...On the other-other hand, it could be a fun learning experience...on the other-other-other hand, I'm involved in a number of RPs at the moment...On YET ANOTHER HAND, they're all pretty slow-paced and I should have time for all of them...

Sighs deeply, rubs chin

Yo, Brusia, if I do decide to app for this RP, would it be kewl if I took the role of your character's former Padawan? If not, that's fine. Likely won't affect (effect? Affect...probably) my hard decision on if I should join or not.

Welcome! Yep, just a brief example of your writing would be fine (maybe an introduction to your character, if you'd like). And if you have any questions about the app or the mechanics of the RP (or about RPing in general), please feel free to send me a telegram and I'm happy to answer what I can :)
