Weren't you just recently saying crazy options should go at the end? Just that completely-silent cameras are useful for some people doesn't mean it makes sense to mandate all cameras to be such. And any reasonable camera already has a feature to disable the flash, it's just that a lot of people are too stupid to use it. Not being capable of a flash at all would lead to a lot of photos being made with poor lighting, which would be a less serious but far more common problem than anything these people are talking about.

And yes, banning cameras that take less than ten minutes is also a crazy option, but it's at least one that makes sense in terms of the (weird) viewpoint of the person suggesting it, unlike this one.

Actually, wait a moment, I think option 1 is crazy too. What about video cameras? Those don't "click". Do they need to make a loud whirr for the entire time they're running? Goodbye, @@DEMONYMADJECTIVE@@ film industry. (And yes, you can still use video cameras for anything you can use snapshot cameras for. Just use video editing software to extract the one frame you're interested in.)

So okay, yeah, I guess the crazy options are at the end, because they're all crazy options.

Option 2- why specify a female? Men can be domestic violence victims too

Men can be voyeurism victims too.

But both are more often female, and in this case having both speakers be the same gender helps to emphasize that this is not actually a gender politics issue, despite initially sounding like one.

Yes, I 100% agree with you Aussie, men are indeed victims of abuse too, also most men don't report their abuse to authorities, so the true numbers are vastly under reported -- suck it up and don't forget to pay the bills -- is how the majority deal with it.

Trotterdam wrote:Men can be voyeurism victims too.

Probably true as well.

However, it is also fair to acknowledge that in both cases women are more often the victims.

By choosing both the main speakers to be female, I was attempting to achieve a moral dilemma for the reader. If you had one victim male and the other victim female, I believe it would be less for the reader to ponder. So, two female victims with opposing needs is what we have.

Why would it be less for the reader to pinder? Unless you're suggesting that men and women are unequal

I'm not in disagreement with you Aussie, it's how society, generally, sees these matters.

I would probably drop the smile part, or perhaps change it to something that sounds better with "Following new legislation in @@NATION@@"

Also, does the shutter sound also apply to videos? I assume it does, but if it doesn't, then it would be much easier to take a video of someone in the shower.

Isn't the full name 'video cameras'?

I'd also personally be wary, Aussie, of always being the guy who asks "What about ((privileged group))? They also suffer ((thing that less privileged group suffers))!"

It's not a good look. You might imagine it comes across as clever challenging of assumptions, but actually it mostly comes across us as being unsympathetic to the majority of victims.

Go type "voyeur cam" into google, and see what proportion of the hits relate to men being spied on.

Eh, I sorta respect what he's trying to do. I do agree that some feminists can get excessive in making it look like men are inherently evil while women can do no wrong, and it can be worth calling out. The problem is that he has absolutely no self-awareness, and posts the same "think of the men!" line regardless of how applicable it is to the issue at hand.

And in this case, he brought it up on one option while completely overlooking that it applies just as much to another.

Candlewhisper Archive wrote:Go type "voyeur cam" into google, and see what proportion of the hits relate to men being spied on.
That sounds like a really bad thing to type into a search engine. At least if I don't want to see the actual naughty pictures those voyeur cams took.

You changed the opening to be about voyerurism instead of cameras, but all the options are still "what to do about cameras", not "what to do about voyeurism".
