[PROPOSED] Commend Kyupaa

Postby Romaco » Wed Mar 11, 2020 7:24 am

I submitted a proposal to commend the most populous nation. Population growth needs an active government, so Kyuppa is the nation that has been active during the longest in NS

You can find the proposed resolution here: https://www.nationstates.net/page=UN_vi ... 1583918131

The Security Council,

NOTING that maintaining a constant population growth is needed to ensure economic stability and a mass of people of assured working age,

AWARE that a high population represents a significant challenge for governments, due to the increased demand for resources such as fresh water and food, faster than the rate of regeneration, and a deterioration in living conditions, which can lead to political instabilities and popular revolts,

OBSERVING that Kyupaa has become the world's most populous country, with a population of more than 38.000 billion people, while it has managed to maintain, among others

  • The 10th best weather and the 8th most beautiful enviornment in the world, becoming the 8th most popular tourist destination,
  • The 11th most compassionate, 6th nicest and the 5th most cheerful people of the world,

RECOGNIZING the efforts that a nation have to do to achieve such population in these conditions, and at the same time promoting peacefull solutions, becoming the 14th most pacifist nation in the globe,

INSPIRED by the promotion of the civil rights, even at the cost of the nation's economy, with policies like the creation of a Universal Health Care system with a paid maternity leave, the prohibition of zoos or the legalization of the same sex marriage,

OBSERVING that, despite this high population, Kyupaa has maintained a democratic political system, opposing the corruption by delegating part of the government power to the local authorities, establishing term limits for the elected representatives and a proportional representation of the citizens in the parliament of the nation,

PLEASED of the commitment of Kyupaa with the international law, being a member of the World Assembly and a signatory to an international climate treaty, the adoption of the worldwide used metric system and the opposition of the use of Weapons of Mass Destruction,

SEEKING that the example of Kyupaa serves as inspiration for the whole world,

Hereby commends Kyupaa

Two things
1. You should've drafted this on the forum, I think it would've far more likely to gain support
2. I don't think this person is worthy of commendation

No drafting on the forum = no support from me. Having read the submission I am unconvinced of the nominee’s worthiness for a Commendation.

Opposed. I don't believe in commeding nations based on statistics and issue answering only. It could be an effective add-on to a roleplay commendation/condemnation, but I don't advise doing SC proposals solely on statistics.

I don't see how this took any skill or work to achieve.

I am going to openly be against this as I don't believe in a system where there is 0 personal freedom. It's incredible how much people are oppressed in your nation. I'm simply against as it doesn't really suit my personal criteria for a nation to be commended. Ummmmm, also why didn't you draft this on the forum first. I think you would have gotten a lot more support

Kyupaa's biggest achievement is having high population, for which you only need to log in every 28 days.
They have 6 top 10 stats (including their only first, population). Kindjal has 9 firsts, and five more in the top 10. The magnitude of stat achievements here is in no way comparable.

Wow, way to shut this whole thing down in one move. I'm half impressed and half suprised.

Anyways, you didnt bother forum drafting first, and beyond that, Sherp has a point. This is of course an impressive feat, but still not worthy of a full commendation

I mean if we are going to be commending people for answering issues, why not for logging in?

It's awfully difficult to log onto your nation. Have to remember the password and all that. And doing it for a long time is very impressive.

My suggestion to the author is to let this resolution fail to make quorum and then come back and draft it.

Compared between issue-answering and this one... Yeah, I'm gonna have to say no to this one, Chief. I don't think it's working.

Also as others have said... Probably should have just put it here for Drafting.

I see my biggest problema is that I didn't draft it in the forum. It's my first time writing a WA resolution, I'll do next time.

I wanted to commend him because keeping active a nation during so many times requires big effort (how many of you have had your nation "ceased to exist" due to inactivity?). I know Kindjal deserves it more, but it's not incompatible with commending Kyupaa, I think

No, I think your biggest problem is that you have failed to convince people that just logging in is Commend worthy.

You've completely ignored my actual point in favor of addressing the snark, which is a decent strategy, but doesn't address the fact that one first badge does not equal ten first badges, nor does 22 top 1% badges equal 34 top 1% badges, nor does consistently answering issues with the right goal and achieving in that goal equal logging in.
