2024: THE LONG PEACE [IC| OPEN | EU PLAYERS REQUESTED]

Postby Atrilan » Thu Mar 05, 2020 6:28 pm

The Long Peace -- The period of time after the end of World War II, was defined by the nuclear age. The ability to completely obliterate the enemy, and in the process face certain retaliatory obliteration, locked the world into a state of non-confrontational diplomacy between the powers of the world. However, in recent years, this ideal has begun to be challenged by the shifting state of global politics; marking the world by fear in rapid social, political, and technological change. The gravity of power in the world is evidently shifting towards East Asia, as India and China are projected to be the new superpowers of the 21st century, but these powers have yet to find a way to replace the Western order. The nations of the west fervently battle this shift of change in an effort to hold onto power for a while longer. The power struggle ignited by crisis and spread by political goals is felt globally. The world is not the same as it once was, and it will never return to it's current state. The tipping point begins in 2024.

In front of the party's leadership, headed by Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, the standard bearer of the United for Mexico coalition laid out their platform's “five great commitments” to change the country, which are to restore peace, alleviate poverty so that at least 15 million Mexicans overcome their extremely marginalized status, reform education, improve stagnating wages by generating more and better jobs, and recover the leadership and pride of the region. However, the Mexican billionaire activist- who arrived with his wife María Elena Torruco - said that there are private interests opposed to his candidacy and thanked and mentioned by name a supporter in the audience in a leg cast. The man had been hit in the torso by the ricochet of a bullet during an impromptu march through the streets of Mexico City led by Mr. Slim Domit a month prior. Though the candidate was not near the scene of the incident, he condemned the attack and paid a visit to the victim's hospital bedside. It was a great photo-ops moment and a perfect example of just how strong his momentum at this moment was. After the death of his father in 2020, he was silently affected and shortly thereafter, reappeared in the media spotlight by speaking out against President Trump's actions in Nicaragua, continuing his popular public image as one of the American president's most ardent international critics following his speech at Trump's alma mater on the relations between Mexico and the United States, where he openly rejected Trump’s idea of building a wall on the border between both countries as "insulting and unacceptable" and his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2020 to discuss the Nicaraguan situation. He donated millions to charities supporting Nicaraguan refugees and established his own foundation to help refugees in Mexico integrate. From then on, he began rubbing elbows with political and media elites and before he knew it, his name featured on trending pages and opinion articles.

"He won't steal." "He has no commitments." "He's an antidote against Trump." "He is a world leader." "He can't be bought." "No one has power over him." "He knows how to generate development."

In 2023, while anger against government was growing among Mexicans, several videos circulated along with these arguments through social networks promoting the presidential candidacy of Carlos Slim Domit. It is possible that people close to him launched this campaign. Or perhaps the candidacy of "the engineer" - as he is called among the Mexican elite - emerged as a genuine response to the crisis the country was experiencing. Before a government and parties with such low levels of approval, and an international onslaught led by Donald Trump that is overwhelmingly announced, the leadership of the world's most powerful Mexican businessman emerges naturally. Never before had Slim held a press conference with the purpose of sending a political message and it took him almost an hour to do so. The only dampener on his numbers was when he confirmed he would be the candidate of the PRI, which he was quick to separate himself from in his actual campaign advertisement, making clear he was never and still isn't a member of the party.

Now, in the first official month of his campaign, he reaffirmed that in these first 90 days of proselytizing activity he will re-sign commitments throughout the country before a notary public, who offered to comply if he manages to be President of Mexico. Mr. Slim published his declaration of assets on his website as well as a check to be paid out at the end of the campaign to repay the national electoral authority for all public funding of his campaign, effectively self-funding his campaign.

Martí Batres looked over a mixed sea of empty seats and partisan hacks clad in his party colors. Despite the attempts by his party to hearken back to the bygone 2018 era of the populist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador who could fill stadiums with his rhetoric. Who had formed MORENA entirely out of his own radiating charisma on the backbone of his popularity among the marginalized. A very different sight to the bespectacled, bureaucrat that now stood giving a flat sermon that it seemed no one would hear. However, if he had anyone to blame it was himself. He had started a political war with the Secretary General of his party and one of the most powerful women in Mexican politics then, Yeidckol Polevnsky Batres conspired to have a slim majority of the party congress vote to oust Polevnsky as president of the party. Polevnsky was partially forced out of the party leadership presumably because her political ambitions clashed with those of Batres regarding the presidential elections of 2024. Heightened political pressure and illness pushed Polevnsky out from public life for about a year, though she did hold on to her post as the MORENA secretary general.

In early 2023, Polevnsky returned to public life and Martin Batres greeted her with open arms. According to party rules, Polevnsky, as secretary general of the party, should have replaced Batres when he stepped down; but, in a surprise move, Marcelo Ebrard took Batres's position instead of Polevnsky, who publicly broke with Batres just few days before Marcelo Ebrard's election. Polevnsky accused Batres of trying to bribe her with the party's presidency in exchange for supporting his candidacy; she also said that Batres had no respect for democracy and just wanted to assure himself of the nomination and was breaking party rules to impose a party leader of his own choosing.

The day that Marcelo Ebrard was elected president, Polevnsky filed a complaint with a federal electoral tribunal asking for protection of her political rights, but the tribunal ruled against her and as a result of the dispute with Batres, Polevnsky resigned her Secretary General position in MORENA but decided to continue her affiliation with the party. However, the new secretary general, Mario Delgado, has since turned on Batres and he's shown that he's a powerful orator near the magnitude of the party's founder, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. The result has been a soft schism in the party's leadership that quickly translated into a migration of voters from the party, even as the party has joined ranks with the other left wing parties in Mexico, the Party of the Democratic Revolution and the Labor Party, in order to shore up votes. The candidates-to-be now sit in informal exile within the party, taking to their side of the aisle an important portion of the party's base while the party's electoral machinery is being led by an undeserving and self-imposed candidate. The party's anti establishment and opposition platform remains unchanged from the Lopez Obrador era but it sits rudderless and without a tropical messiah to preach it to the masses.

Batres was suddenly interrupted as one of the party signs was knocked down by an unconvinced audience member on his way out...

Marko Antonio Cortés Mendoza sits as the the least-known of the candidates from Mexico’s main parties. His campaign pledges include life sentences for politicians found guilty of corruption related to organized crime, more scholarships for students, and labor-law reforms, which he promises would incorporate 400,000 people each year into the formal economy. He has not come out against the policies of his PAN predecessors, Felipe Calderón and Vicente Fox, and stated that military personnel should be withdrawn only when the area has a “trustworthy” police force. The few states and fewer municipal governments ruled by the PAN were responsible for protecting him on his journey through the country against groups of businessmen, producers and landowners who repeatedly try to spoil the tour. A small group had mobilized near a hundred people who set up camp outside the hotel where Cortes made base, with a banner that read: "Marko: We thought you were different, you say you are against those who break the law and you support Calderon's policies."

Mexico City
Those who have visited these days President Jose Antonio Meade in his office in Los Pinos, are impressed by the loneliness in which the outgoing president is already and how calm and desolate the atmosphere is in the official residence. Almost no one goes and the low activity in the offices and halls of the presidential complex contrasts with the comings and goings of people, officials, visitors and audience seekers who were seen in previous 5 years of the government.

The notorious decrease in the president's agenda and activity, decided by himself, has intensified the feeling that Jose Antonio Meade is being left alone and there are already even friends and advisers who recommend him to anticipate his move from the presidential house in the coming weeks, as other presidents have done in the final stretch of their mandate. The first movers are scheduled to begin taking out his things, clothes and personal belongings next month such a way that by September 15 he will have already vacated the rooms and after leading the independence celebrations, he will not return.

And although the president still has some time before beginning his move, which would be to his two houses in the State of Mexico, his only real reasons for staying in the official residence at the moment are attending to certain governmental matters and, more importantly, ensuring the PRI has access to the privileges and advantages of the president's office in the upcoming elections.

For eight years, the Turkish Armed Forces had occupied a large swathe of Northern Syria, a strategic move meant not only to suppress groups considered anathema to the Republic (like the Syrian Democratic Forces and ISIL) but to also prevent Bashar Assad from accomplishing his overall strategic goal of reuniting all of Syria. For the whole of these eight years, the Syrians had been given a guise of self-governance with certain rebel politicians being allowed to fill the highest levels of the provisional government. Now, that time had come to an end. It was time for the Republic to assert its' full authority over the Authority Zone, with the intent being that the area will be integrated into the Republic fully as a region with special status.

To this end, a group of the most elite troops of the Turkish Armed Forces had been handpicked for a mission dubbed Operation First Step, so named because it will be the first step in restoring the Republic to the former glory of their Ottoman ancestors. Over the past four years President Erdogan had almost doubled the budget of the Special Forces Command (SFC), known informally as the Maroon Berets for the color of their signature head wear. As such, the men serving in the SFC were outfitted with some of the best equipment and had some of the best training of any special forces outfit in the world. In fact, the Maroon Berets are infamous the world over for being one of the few units to require members to complete a trust shot to pass the final stage of their training. This intense training gave all the men of the unit a unique and strong bond with each other.

Third Platoon, Second Company, First Battalion is one of the most battle hardened units in the SFC, lead by a young First Lieutenant, Erhan Özmen. At 27 he was a younger officer, and considered exceptionally young to be a platoon leader in the SFC, but he had proven himself in combat many times. Now he was about to undertake his most important mission of his young and bright career. He and the men of Third Platoon have been tasked with the covert infiltration of Azaz, the capital of the Authority Zone. They will be dressed in uniforms of the Syrian Arab Army, and will launch an attack on the President's Mansion, where the highest ranking members of the provisional government are meeting. After successfully storming the compound, they will record video of the summary execution of the provisional government officials in the name of Bashar Assad.

There are multiple points to this mission that will work into the hands of President Erdogan. Not only will members of the opposition Free Syrian Army be especially incensed to this violation of the psuedo-sovereignty of the Authority Zone, they will take extra offense to the fact that it will have seemingly been done at the behest of Bashar Assad. The resulting power vacuum from the death of the highest ranking members of the provisional government will allow President Erdogan to step in, acting as the savior of the Authority Zone's sovereignty, installing a Turkish governor of his choosing to bring true stability and security. Finally, it will give the Republic a casus belli against Syria, which can be kept in the back pocket and used whenever seen fit to justify a potential conflict between Turkey and Syria.

Azaz, Turkish Authority Zone, Northern Syria
2200 Hours

First Lieutenant Erhan Özmen rode in the lead of four blacked out 2016 Chevrolet Tahoes, sitting in the passenger's seat as his subordinate drove, cruising down the main highway that would lead them into Azaz. At the moment, he and his men were wearing uniforms with insignia from the Turkish Land Forces, a fact that would make entry into the city as easy as possible. As the lead Tahoe reached the outskirts of the city, Özmen was surprised to see that there was no security checkpoint. He had assumed that the fact that all the ministers, president, and prime minister of the provisional government were meeting this evening would have meant a heightened sense of security. He let himself wonder briefly if the Free Syrian Army had been lulled into a sense of security by the presence of overwhelming Turkish military power in the Authority Zone. He snapped his mind back to the current situation and read out the directions on his GPS to the driver. The Tahoes rolled through the city through light traffic, something they had expected as it was part of their mission briefing.

As they rolled through a light near the President's Mansion, they cut a sharp left and then a right to maneuver down a side street adjacent to the wall of the compound that housed the President's Mansion. Now Özmen issued an order to his platoon through their communications relay to remove the Turkish Land Forces insignia from their uniforms and apply the insignia standard with the Syrian Arab Army. As they all began to file out of their vehicles, they began to grab their equipment. Ten of the men, including Özmen were carrying MP7A1 submachine guns and HK USPs, three carried the MKEK MPT-76 and USPs, and the last two men carried M110 sniper rifles in order to repel any counter attack on the mansion and HK USPs. All of their weapons were outfitted with silencers, in the hope of infiltrating the compound without alerting any Free Syrian Army forces in the surrounding area.

The men filed into two columns with Özmen at the front between the two columns, leading the men across the small street directly beside the ten foot walls of the compound. Two men ran forward with compact folding ladders and opened them up, pressing them against the wall. The platoon had done multiple practice runs through an exact scale model of the compound, so as they quickly scaled the ladder and dropped down the other side of the wall, they all knew what to do. The last two men to come across pulled the ladders up behind them and folded them up, leaning them agains the wall so they could use them to leave the compound once they were done. Özmen and six other men ran to the left while the other eight men including the two snipers ran right, using the wall as a background to try to mask their movements. They hit the corners of the wall and began to sprint forward across the compound toward the mansion, using planters and fountains as cover.

As they closed to within twenty yards of the compound, Özmen issued an order to stop. Three men were standing on a balcony on the second floor of the building, smoking cigarettes and talking. The balcony ran along the length of the building, with two solid doors at each end, and a window running the length of the balcony that currently had the curtains closed. On their commander's order, three of the men carrying MP7s let loose one round a piece, a dampened muzzle flash interrupting the calm of the night. It seemed as if time stopped as the men on the balcony registered a look of confusion, one that was forever drawn on their faces as they crumpled against the balcony railing, struck in various vital spots that sent them instantly to their deaths.

In the same instant these men dropped the platoon was already on the move again, making a dash for the ornate French doors on the ground floor of the back of the compound. The two men armed with M110s took a position behind two long planters at the base of a set of three stairs that brought the rest of the platoon up onto a large patio, each column lining up on their respective sides of the large double doors. Özmen glanced inside and saw no one in the room immediately inside the mansion, and motioned to the man across from him. They both pushed open one of the doors and swept inside at the same time. Each column veered off in separate directions towards stairwells at opposite ends of the room that would lead them to the second story. The men with the M110s filed in last, one breaking off in each direction.

Özmen and the lead man of the other column entered the open doorway of the respective stairwells at the same time and kept their weapons readied as they climbed the stairs to the second story, where a closed door met both teams. Özmen sent the order to all his men to pull out balaclavas and put them on. He waited a half minute for this to be done and the signaled that it was time to breach the doors. Suspecting that they would not be locked, they turned the handles and were pleasantly surprised as they entered a dimly lit hallway, where straight ahead they saw each other and on one side of each a door to the balcony, and the other side a hallway running the length of the compound. The teams poured out of the stairwell and crept down the hallway.

Each team made their way to a door on opposite sides of what would be a large central room in the middle of the second floor, as both men carrying M110s and one from each team carrying MPT-76s broke off walking the rest of the length of the hallway, stopping at the corners. Özmen transmitted the signal for everyone to move at the same time. On this order, both teams used a small amount of plastic explosive to blow both doors off their hinges and immediately stormed the room, with Özmen and three others each putting a lethal round in four stunned armed guards. As this happened, the men who had broken off from the teams turned the corners, with the men carrying MPT-76s using a couple rounds each to drop two more guards. The men with the M110s immediately took up an over watch position at the windows looking out on the front of the compound.

President Anas al-Abdah stood up in shock and anger, demanding to know what was going on, moving around a long table where all the ministers and the prime minister of the provisional government sat, shocked into silence by the events that had just transpired. As al-Abdah began to walk toward Özmen he caught the butt of a rifle to the face, a loud crack indicating that he had probably just suffered an excruciatingly painful broken orbital. Now that the room was quiet, the men went to work quickly setting up a tripod and a video camera, with some herding the government members to one side of the room at gunpoint as the others moved the table to one side of the room. Once this was all done, all of the provisional government members were forced to their knees in the center of the room.

The mood was somber now as Özmen presented a script to President al-Abdah, who turned and looked down the line of men in balaclavas, each pointing a pistol at the head of a man on his knees. He looked into Özmen's eyes, seeming as if he was going to ask why. But, he could see the calm in his eyes, and decided to keep any comments to himself, simply nodding to indicate he understood what was about to happen. A man behind the camera pressed a button, bringing up a small red light that made clear this was all going to be recorded. Özmen moved off behind the men and unfurled a Syrian flag he had been carrying in his pack, tacking it to the wall behind what was soon to be the site of much bloodshed. As he finished, President al-Abdah looked directly into the camera and began to speak...

"I am President Anas al-Abdah of the provisional government of the North Syrian Free Governing Zone. With me are my prime minister and all the ministers of the provisional government. We are going to die today, for the crimes we have committed against Syria and against President Assad. Long live Syria, long live President Assad."

As he uttered this last word, twelve simultaneous shots from pistols without silencers rang out it unison, shattering the quiet of the night around the mansion. On hearing this, the men at the front of the mansion began to make their way back down the hallway toward the back of the building. As quickly as the bodies dropped, the men of the platoon had broken down the camera and were making their way out of the room. Behind them, a sea of carnage. Twelve men with their brains blown out, martyrs to a cause much bigger than themselves. Özmen and his team quickly made their way out of the building and sprinted toward the back wall. The two men who had previously set the ladders ran forward again and deployed them to the walls, allowing everyone else to pass by, until filing up the wall themselves and grabbing the ladders, carrying them with them back to the waiting SUVs.

Özmen gave the order for the men to restore their Turkish Land Forces insignia and then they quickly backed down the side street onto the main road, driving away from the mansion. As they did so, they could hear the faint whine of sirens in the distance, coming from the opposite side of the mansion. They quickly drove down the street the way they had come, all while Özmen grabbed a laptop from the floorboard of the Tahoe and quickly turned it on. An embedded encrypted data card allowed him to upload the video the men had just recorded to various websites, shooting it across the world in a matter of minutes. As he closed the laptop and breathed a sigh of relief, Özmen looked behind him at the fading lights of Azaz and smiled, knowing he had just been a part of the foundation of something great.

United Kingdom
Part 1: The Lonely Island
To set the tone

Palace of Westminster
Westminster, London
United Kingdom

The Palace of Westminster was filled with heated debate all morning. His Majesty's Loyal Opposition had been fighting vehemently against a bill that would tighten requirements on immigrants coming to the United Kingdom from previously war afflicted nations such as Syria or Iraq. The bill was likely to pass, and highly popular among the Conservative base as it would restrict immigrants coming from war torn nations to only those with a skill or set of skills that would add to the British economy. Labour had been battling against what they saw as a racist discriminatory bill all day long.

"The Conservatives are blatantly trying to crack down on Muslim immigration to advance their racist policies." Said Keir Starmer, the Labour party leader.

"This bill is designed to keep British citizens safe and to prevent the further spread of Terrorism in this nation. The bill includes people of all faiths, including Christians coming from these lands." Said Dominic Raab, a Conservative MP. "Our party's goal is solely to keep British citizens safe from harm. Too many terrorists originating from these territories have launched attacks against our people, and if Labour won't try to help address this crisis, we shall instead."

Voices of different MPs continued to bicker back and forth for several hours before it became time to vote. Finally, all of the members of the House of Commons got their chance to pass their votes. The sounds of "Aye" and "Nay" filled the chamber as the politicians voted. After several minutes, it came time to reveal the tally.

365 Aye-278 Nay with seven abstaining from Sinn Fein.

It was split identically on party lines. The bill would continue onwards to the House of Lords and the King where it would likely receive Royal Ascent.

10 Downing Street
Westminster, London
United Kingdom

Prime Minister Boris Johnson sat down in front of the camera, ready to lay out the plan of his government for the next year. The election was quickly approaching, and it wasn't looking good for the Conservative Party. If he didn't do something fast, Keir Starmer would be in his seat a few months later. His plan was simple, increase the military and be aggressive against terrorism on all fronts, at home and abroad. The bill passed in Parliament and was likely to pass the rest of stages. Johnson cleared his throat and began to speak.

"People of Britain, the time has come for us to begin a new year in our nation. This year we are focusing on stopping the cycle of terrorism that has plagued this nation. Across all fronts my government well strive to end violence in the name of political gain against innocent people. That is why we have passed a bill that will extremely limit the amount of immigrants we accept from nations we view as a potential risk. On top of that we shall be expanding our military capabilities. Military recruiters across all branches have an increase quota this year, all branches combined will have a 10,000 man growth. To keep up with an increasingly volatile world, we will be ordering an extra 30 AS-90 Self-propelled guns and 15 additional Rapier Surface-To-Air Missile systems. It is one of my highest duties as Prime Minister to defend our island and I shall continue to do so no matter what threat faces us.

To ensure that we can make our island run on green energy as soon as possible we are planning to begin construction of another nuclear plant in the region of Ayrshire. We believe that not only will it assist in decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels but it will boost the economy of the region and create new jobs. The people of Britain are our main driving factor to do what we can to improve this nation, and what drove us to make this decision. Nuclear energy is the future and our government plans to heavily invest in it.

It is our job as government, my job; to care for every individual in this nation. And never has that time been more important than today. It is time for the UK to take back our place on the world stage, to recover from the embarrassment of the Virumaa Crisis, to fight terrorism at home and abroad, and to usher in a new era of economic success in this United Kingdom."

The Prime Minister took a breathe as the camera switched off. It had been a rough time the past several years. The Russians taking land in the Baltics, repeated violence between Muslims and White Nationalists, and of course the Scottish question. It had been a rollercoaster since he took office as Prime Minister. He needed an event that truly cement him as positive in the minds of British voters. Suddenly, an idea popped into his mind. Nicaragua had proven to be excellent for his approval ratings, and the next war just popped into his mind. As soon as his staff had left, Boris grabbed his phone and dialed for the Ministry of Defense.

Seal of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense

To: Whom it may concern in the Transitional Government of the East African Federation
From: The Right Honourable Ben Wallace, His Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Defence

Honorable Leader,

First of all, on behalf of the United Kingdom we wish to congratulate the East African Federation on it's unification.

For many years His Majesty has kept six army infantry battalions stationed in what was the nation of Kenya, with the goal of training and assisting in fighting terror in the war torn land of Somalia. It is the wish of his Majesty King Charles III as well as Prime Minister Boris Johnson to increase our forces in Kenya by three extra battalions. On top of that, we wish to be able to use Kenya as a staging ground to launch raids against terror groups across the continent in countries such as Somalia.

We also wish for your nation to benefit. In exchange for an increase of British forces in your nation, we shall offer enough SA80A2 rifles to arm your entire military. Our Army now uses the A3 variant of the rifle, so we should have no issue gathering enough surplus to arm your entire army with them. We also offer a surplus of general equipment such as modern helmets, uniforms, hand grenades and body armor. Our officers shall train your soldiers in the way of modern combat and prepare your military for wars of the future.

Lastly, an economic agreement. Our government is offering to send your nation 10 Billion pounds over the next five years to invest in the infrastructure of your nation. In return we wish for access to both Tanzania's bountiful mining industry as well as Uganda's oil reserves. The EAF is a nation full of natural resources and we wish to see them put to good use. We hope that you shall consider our offer.

Best wishes,
Ben Wallace, Defense Secretary

East African Leaders Finalize Federation
by Jack Ingof

Image

Arusha, East Africa

As per the usual, Arusha’s morning was hot and sweaty. The hot dry season had affected East Africa harshly due to climate change, and droughts had been bombarding the countryside for weeks now. However, that didn’t seem to dim the mood in East Africa’s most important city, as hundreds of thousands of people had gathered in Arusha. The city’s police patrolled every street to make sure order was kept, but even they seemed rather enthusiastic about their jobs. Surprisingly, not a single protestor had been beaten to near-death for their enthusiasm. Local vendors happily supplied the influx of people, giving them freshly made roasted chicken, while foreign tourists practically took over the city’s few KFCs. Many journalists and geography enthusiasts had come from abroad to witness a rare occurrence in modern history: the voluntary creation of a federation.

The East African project, after initially failing due to Cold War politics, began anew in 2000 after relations between Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania improved. The nations shared a common history and culture, being unified by centuries of shared struggles and a common language: Swahili. The three nations set out to integrate the region and eventually form a united federation, with Rwanda and Burundi embracing the dream later as well. South Sudan attempted to attach themselves to the East African idea, but due to their incompetent leadership and ongoing civil war, learned that their destiny didn’t lie with the Swahili. The East African Community would stumble multiple times, but despite the squabbling of its member states, still made progress. They adopted a single trade policy and currency, and by 2023, had ratified the constitution for the creation of the East African Federation on New Year’s Day exactly.

This spirit of unity was strong amongst the five nation’s leaders, who had gathered outside of the East African government building to officially commemorate the foundation of a new nation. The leaders gave a speech on the history of the region, lasting for well over an hour and going into detail on the region’s united history. After they had finished their speech, they held a five minute long moment of silence as they slowly unraveled the flag of the East African Federation. The five leaders worked in unison to hoist the flag, which flew proudly over the capital of the new nation. The crowd erupted in cheer, and the now former heads of states enthusiastically answered the questions of dozens of curious journalists. Hours later, they were seen at a private KFC eating several buckets of Nashville Hot Wings (added to KFC East Africa’s menu thanks to the meaningful contributions to the discussion by an anonymous Syrian-American.) while South Sudan’s president could be seen solemnly watching through a window.

Lake Victoria No More

African Great Lakes

Lake Victoria is one of the ancient African Great Lakes - a series of lakes constituting the part of the Rift Valley lakes in and around the East African Rift. It is also the third-largest fresh water lake in the world, and thanks to help from the EU, has seen significant improvement in the quality of its water. Lake Victoria supports the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Africans and is the ancient home of great biodiversity - 10% of the world's fish species live there. It is located right in the heart of the country, and is central in both its past and future.

In 1858 a British man by the name of John Hanning Speke saw it and named it Lake Victoria after the British monarch of the day Queen Victoria - who led the British in their colonization Africa. Likewise, Lake Albert and Lake Edward shared similar fates. British colonization saw widespread Anglicization of the region’s features, with everything from lakes to mountains having names originated from Europe. Since then, the names stuck and became the official name published on maps in schools and tourist guides alike- until now.

One of the things agreed upon in Arusha during the finalization of the EAF’s constitution was that the country would be more “nativised”, meaning that local names will be changed to native Swahili versions. Lake Victoria is to be renamed to Lake Nyanza, Lake Edward to Lake Rutanzige, and Lake Albert to Lake Mwitanzige. Smaller lakes with European names taken from Anglo, German, and Belgian sources will be renamed as well, though these were not included in the announcement. The EAF government has requested foreign agencies and organizations recognize this, and change their maps and national factbooks.
“We mean well to the British, and look forward to a new, improved relationship with them. This should not be seen as an attack on their nation’s history and culture, but rather, as an assertion of East African sovereignty and nationalism,” Former Kenyan President Kenyatte said, Chinese currency fresh in his pockets.

To: The Right Honourable Ben Wallace, His Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Defence
From: The Transitional Government of the East African Federation

Right Honourable Ben Wallace,

Your congratulations do not go unnoticed, and the people of East Africa are happy to have the support of one of our traditional allies.

The terms you state are very generous, and we would be pleased to negotiate further. However, you must note that we are a transitional government lacking a proper executive, which makes controversial decisions, such as allowing more foreign soldiers, prone to gridlock. Your terms are noted, and we invite you to negotiate with the government that arises following our elections in June. Until then, we will let you know if we can agree to any of the singular terms you have already given.

Graciously,
Paul Kigame , Governor of Rwanda, member of the Transitional Executive Council of East Africa on behalf of Rwanda

Rēzekne 22nd October 2022

The rising morning son brought a cold yellow glow through one remaining arch of Rēzekne Castle, it's light soon subdued by rolling winter winds and it's company of grey clouds. Under it's stones laid one platoon, holding dismal faces covered by mud and ash. They held their breath for a movement, only hearing the crashing river nearby, and continued to speak in a hush tone. One held their weapon right to their gut, only a recent recruit nicknamed Kārlitis, while Ingus and Oskars continued to speak of their shared days patrolling the border in the 1990s. A bald fellow named Imants made grunts in the face of the howling winds while the rest took their time sharing a pack of cigarettes.

"Anyone got wives to come home to in one piece?" Imants asked before coughing into his glove.

"No misses, no- I'm going to marry one as a form of personal Russian reparations." Oskars gave a smirk.

"Yhea yhea, mail order one even if we lose." Ingus' creased "Will be useful for wiping ass after you lose your legs." Some in the group covered their brows in an attempt to soften their laughs.

"Better than being married to your nephew, you absolute inbred." Oskars' brought back laughter to the group, for a brief moment it felt like the burden which they held had fled and that they could walk to their pub and all would be good like before. Even silent Kārlitis brought himself to a smile, loosing the grip on his cartridges. This moment quickly ceased, in the distance the first orchestra of rifle fire could be heard. The far away trees below their mound lit up with flashes, planes soon droned above and circled their fields like monstrous wraiths, there would be no saving call to their dread and bloodshed. In the face of unavoidable doom & disaster they held on to their courage and spirit, like the forefathers before them who fought even when the world had left them and when all the odds defied their struggle.

- Ingus Balins (Bled out due to sustained wounds in defence of the city centre, girlfriend of four years had been carrying his child unbeknown to him, 1974-2022)
- Oskars Rezalnis (Sustained fetal injures after a shell explosion, had intentions of retiring and touring the Andes range, 1975-2022)
- Imants Kungs (Returned his to childhood home in Liepaja afterwards, awarded Order of Lāčplēsis for his noted deeds in the conflict, passed away due to sickness, 1987-2023)
- Kārlis Celajs (Awarded Order of Lāčplēsis for sustained injuries, lives alone near Gauja forest, 1999-present)

Contemporary Political Situation

A differing coalition of Anti-Establishment Populists, Conservatives and Establishment Nationalists currently governs over the Republic. The Brīvības un Patriotu Koalīcija (Freedom and Patriots Coalition) is it's official title, despite the differences in doctrine and policy between the three political parties they have had less bickering and disagreements than coalitions of the past. It's in notable contrast to the 2018 Coalition which took several months to settle and collapsed in the face of Russian aggression. In opposition are the more moderate pro-European liberals groups, accompanied by a reforming 'Harmony' which has been going through the process of reforming to match it's 'SPD' counterpart in Germany. With a definitive majority in government KPV-LV should face little resistance in parliament to it's reforms and policy changes, a fact which may cause 'bad' legislation being passed through without rejection.

The current cabinet is consolidated more so than it's predecessors, lead by Aldis Gobzems who came to prominence due to his numerous appearances and arguments in the Saeima.

Rail Baltica

The massive infrastructure project spanning the three Baltic states and joining into the pre-established north German train lines has been given support from the Latvian parliament for the second time. The green-field Rail Baltica Global Project has been prioritised by the Trans-European Transport Networks group prior to 2020, estimated to bring in benefits worth around 16.2 billion euros and many social positives. Easing environmental strain of vehicle usage on roads has also been noted. Prior to 2024 it has been co-financed by Europe & the respective governments of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The project was initiated in 2010, estimated to be concluded fully in 2026.

The Ministry of Latvian Foreign Affairs has invited the leadership of both neighbouring Baltic states to discuss the prospects of shared ownership of the trans-national railway.

Again

President Jūlija Stepaņenko sat in her office, holding a coffee stained pile of legislation and pressing her palm into her cheek bone. Past her shoulders was a world of neon lights obscured by occasional sprinkles of rain drops, the same nightly world would've seeped in from her window if it weren't from a lone lamp in the far corner of her room. She sighed, scribbling something, and rustled the paper. Uninspired words, legal documents. It was all the same, she couldn't think of anything proper to respond with. Two knocks echoed on the door. She looked up and sighed again more heavily.

Gobzems walked in, holding a bundle of papers tied together by a rubber band, he gave a half smile which left his face to no response from her. His blazer wrinkled and top button undone, looking like a broke down stockbroker.

"Why're you still awake? It's three." He placed the bundle on the edge of her desk.

"And why are you still walking in here whenever?" She enquired with a stiff lower jaw, crossing her arms as she spoke.

"I still have a key, I don't mean anything I'm-" Stuttering, he was quickly cut off from finishing.

"Then don't do it- just leave" she took a deep breath in "I don't want to go through all this again, I don't think I can."

He gave a solemn nod, leaving back through the same door to the cold night outside.

After a few minutes of staring into the oak patterns of her desk, she reached over to grab the jumble of paper. It was collection of scraps, blank and useless pieces of paper. There was no coherence or organisation. There was nothing. There wasn't even legislation he'd usually send her. A whole worthless nothing now littered her desk, she reclined back and simply rubbed her temple. She took her eyes wondering through the layers of card, until they were caught by a particular string of words. A specific set of three letters in the middle of white. It was a simple saying you'd probably guess by now; 'Es Tevi Mīlu'.

Moscow, Putin's New Year's Address

"Today marks the day where our great nation enters a new year, a year where our continued struggle and our continues perseverance has brought forward a time where Russia no longer needs to fear the enemies beyond her borders. It is through the bravery and the willingness to keep pushing, is what makes a Russian citizen within these turbulent times. After the Virumaa Crisis, the nations of Europe believed their sanctions would encourage us to show our weakness, our willingness to bow down to their self-imposed superiority they believe they have achieved, but it is we the people of Russia who have stayed strong. Regaining the lands of our ancestors and protecting our people from the hardships that have been placed upon it. But that was the past, what we must focus now is our future in this new year of 2024. For this is the year in which it is you the people of Russia must push forward, carrying on our banners even if I no longer will be the President of our great nation. But while I still have time left, I will tell of our future to you the people of Russia.

"It is the will of the Russian Federation, to restore our place to the world, through the means of diplomatic talks and negotiations. We will be open to negotiate with the alliance of CESDOT and Ukraine, concerning the continuing conflict in the region of Donbass with separatists who wish to make a difference in their lives. Strong men and volunteers who fight for their freedom and for the will to make their destiny their own. Secondly, we will continue our talks with the nation of Belarus, a friendly nation who've had close ties with us since the creation of the Russian Empire, throughout history it has always been the Belorussians who've been by our side, as such we wish to keep that same trust with them as we move towards a new destiny together as one people, in our Union which will stand the test of time. We will continue to protect our allies in Central Asia from any enemy they may be facing and support their endeavors more closely, work to restore the damage being done to their environments and help them develop an economy that will be on exponentially better than the ones they have now, through our support and dedication to the people of Central Asia. And finally, I will personally look towards the safety of the Korean Peninsula, as we negotiate with the Supreme Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un. In the hopes of a safer future and dedication towards peaceful negotiations which lead to fruitful endeavors.

"But it isn't only the foreign affairs where we must stay strong, it is here in our Motherland we must be stronger. To solve our declining population, our corrupt school system, the corrupt space agency and the exploitation of Siberia for the benefit of the Russian people. The people must benefit from the fruitful labors they work to achieve and thus needs your patience and determination for us in the Government to improve upon greatly, for we are on a path greater than any have seen before. Thanks to you the Russian people who gave me the chance to run this nation to a brighter future, a greater future. A future destined for the Russian people and the Federation as a whole. Unity is what brought us Russians together, unity and love for the Rodina, which will carry us forward to a much brighter future. I thank you, people of Moscow, people of all Russia for hearing my words. I look forward for you all to act upon it, to grow upon it and to improve upon it. For our future in the coming year will not end in our decline, but our rebirth for a new and greater Russian nation."

Moscow, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
February, 2024

"Mr. Bogdanov, Deputy Minister to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, department of Africa and the Middle East. Your Superior has retired and President Vladimir Putin has chosen you to be the new Foreign Minister." stated the messenger, who if anything held rank above the newly minted Foreign Minister due to the status he has within the Putin circle. "Your first orders from the President are to encourage the voting block within the Duma to reevaluate the Russian Investments into Africa. The Minister of the Industry and Trade will also be supporting your efforts in influencing the Duma, though under different orders of course. Here are the documents-" he handed the Minister the papers, "Do not disappoint the President on your first day. After all, this year is what will count the most." With that, the messenger left as quick as he came, leaving Minister Bogdanov sitting in his seat, before slowly getting up to get to his car.

Image
Russian State Duma, February

The Duma was in session, the entirety of the Russian political body on the edge of their seats as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Industry and Trade entered the room. Both of them had small patches of paper and a sort of confidence in what they were doing simply emitting off them. Taking their place in front of the Duma, where a majority of them were simply United Russia who kept to their party and where others joined them, the government coalition massive while the remaining opposition making up of the communists was small and much smaller than they were in the past. The popularity of the United Russia has never been stronger after its recent victory against the west so many years ago, but slowly that victory is lessening and their momentum waning in light of Putin's last year as President of the Russian Federation. As such it, unlike the United States where the President becomes a lame duck, is heavily interested in possible actions that could increase their popularity before the elections in which the people will vote on who will be in charge, despite the heavy amounts of political sway and underhanded practices the ruling Government makes to ensure their victory, it'll be easier if they are simply more popular than the other.

The Foreign Minister, Bogdanov, steps forward to read from his sheet of papers he was given by the messenger. "Members of the State Duma, I have come forward to you to ask for your support of creating a new allocation of the state budget, while foreign investments must be our way of providing to the world who will then benefit the Russian Federation, restoring her power to the stage and ensuring our economy grows despite the foreign sanctions from the West, we cannot continue such heavy and possibly wasteful spending we are putting ourselves towards the continent of Africa. Of our investments, the Russian Government has pledged once again 60 billion dollars of our money towards a continent currently growing with political strife as their people rise up against the stable Governments of the region and threaten our assets in every nation within it. As such, I encourage that this price be cut heavily down to 20 billion dollars and to be consolidated to a fewer amount of nations who will benefit from the investments more than any other nation. A list will be provided to every member soon of which nations we have chosen as the new beneficiaries of our investments onto the continent."

"To add onto that-" added Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, "Is that our nation is in need of a project that can give jobs and be the wayward towards a new economic growth that our nation hasn't seen in a long time. AS such, we need to put that 40 billion dollars which have opened up and instead of placing it into the hands of the corrupt and possibly greedy people of our nation, for we all know we have them and instead put it to the Siberian Economic Project. With 40 billion dollars at our disposal the economic prosperity of the massive region could increase exponentially and provide a key towards moving the foreign stage to our whims as nations begin to reevaluate their relations to us, needing us in the West as they see our wealth grow and as their sanctions continue will lose a massive source of fuel that we could instead use to push ourselves forward to a new age! A greater age, along with documentation for how much each of the list of nations should get. To make all your jobs easier."

Bill: Allocation of Funding in Africa

Body Paragraph: The Government agrees to decrease Russian expenditure towards investing in African nations by $40 billion dollars to remain a budget of $20 billion dollars to be invested into seven selected countries to which have had close relations with the Russian Federation or support the birth of a new nation, the EAF. The remaining 40 billion dollars will be placed towards the Siberian Economic Project to begin the growth and expansion of the agricultural, mining and transportation sectors of the Siberian region (as a whole, not its Federal Region) to restore confidence in the Russian economy and strengthen the nation. Along with officially recognizing the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign nation separate from the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Russian Investment Budget for Africa - $20 Billion Dollars

Egypt - $4.1 Billion Dollars
Algeria - $5 Billion Dollars
EAF - $3.4 Billion Dollars
Somaliland - $1 Billion Dollars
Angola - $2.6 Billion Dollars
Zimbabwe - $1.5 Billion Dollars
Namibia - $2.4 Billion Dollars

For: "The people of Russia need to benefit first before we can expend our economic power on other nations, we need to grow before we can pull others with us towards higher prosperity. With this new reform our nation can grow and benefit from the investments we are placing in Africa while also taking our money back and placing it back into our Motherland which holds many economic ventures that have yet to be tapped.

Against The Opposition has opted to remain silent and no other moves were made to oppose the reforms.

Result: For: 417 Against: 33

The most important year has come to the people of Russia, their ability to vote for their future and the leader of what is to be believed as the greatest and most influential nations on Earth. While many would think that Putin would overturn any sort of obstacle to be in his path and reign as President for Life for the Russian people, he had declined and instead would make his last term the best he can achieve. So in its wake, the United Russia was left without its frontal figure and had to choose a new candidate for President. Which would be simple, if not for two extremely influential people in the party who are budding heads to become Putin's true successor. Dmitry Medvedev and Alexey Dyumin, declaring their intent to run as members of United Russia but knowing that both cannot have their support, so they are attempting to sway the party members to choose them for their candidate and if the other doesn't achieve the nomination then they would run as an independent as Putin had done back in 2018. But whichever gets the support of the Party, it is evident that it could cause a rift in United Russia and would result in a troubling presidency for whoever did win if they did not achieve their support. Alongside the usual smaller parties such as the communists, the Liberal Democratic Party and A Just Russia, all three are attempting to capitalize on Putin leaving and holding the Presidency to achieve success in the legislative elections in 2026. With the Communist Party with its small coalition making amends with the Communists of Russia and the heated fire between the Liberal Democrats and A Just Russia, it could be seen as the most hostile and the most impactful election that Russia has ever seen since its first post-soviet election in 1996.

Official Report Regarding the Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh from the President of India

As of January 1st, 2024, the Republic of India has been carrying out a necessary occupation of the Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh (which for convenience will be officially referred to as JKL) since March of 2020, following an attack on Indians by the Pakistani-backed Hizbul Mujahideen. Since the occupation, the Indian Armed Forces has detained 2,500 suspected insurgents, and have successfully eliminated over 130 insurgents. Based on an IAF conducted self-assessment, the Government of India can confirm that the occupational force has not committed any human rights violations. All action taken within JKL is necessary for the security of Kashmiris and the Indian state. Furthermore, the Government of India can confirm that since occupation, crime and communal violence has

India Ports Global Private Limited (IPGPL) co-operates Chabahar Port in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Iran. Chabahar is only 170 kilometers to Gwador in Pakistan’s Balochistan Province. Furthermore, Chabahar Port provides India access to Bamiyan Province, Afghanistan thanks to the railway line built in 2016. The railway has a stop in Kandahar, where the Balochistan Liberation Army is headquartered.

Before any support can be provided, transit between India, Afghanistan, and Iran must be further expanded upon for mutual benefit. However, caution must be exercised specifically regarding Baloch insurgents due to spillover into Iran from Pakistan. Therefore for interest in maintaining cordial relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, usage of Iranian transit infrastructure to supply Balochi rebels shall be prohibited.

However, Indian consulates and the embassy in Afghanistan are to be prepared to issue necessary documentation and cover identities for officials involved in the Balochistan Liberation Army who carry out operations exclusively against Pakistan in order to facilitate their travel to India should it be necessary for their safety and continued operations against Pakistan. Though support in terms of training, weapons, and finances are to only begin when given notice by the Research and Analysis Wing.

The 2017 report on Pakistan’s regional HDI levels by the United Nations show high variance in economic growth and quality of life within the country. The red shows that despite Pakistan’s attempts, the economy in the North-West is significantly weaker than the rest of the nation. More importantly for our purposes, there is a complete disregard for veterans from elected officials and the government itself. These “jawaan” come from poor backgrounds from rural areas. Hundreds of thousands of veterans exist within the country, uncompensated and unrehabilitated into civil society. As with the Balochi rebels, contact with veterans in North-West Pakistan is to not occur until given approval by the Research and Analysis Wing.

The overall plan involving the North-West must also take into consideration Pakistani military presence near JKL. It is our strategy to have a majority of Pakistan’s military be along JKL, rather than Afghanistan. As of now, India’s military plan of Cold Start (essentially a “blitzkrieg” on major cities in Pakistan to force them to negotiate) is seriously hampered by Pakistan’s tactical nuclear arsenal known as “Nasr”. As it stands, the Nasr missile system is the single largest counter to any potential Indian armed thrust into Pakistan. It’s biggest strength and weakness is that it is oriented against Indian missile defense systems.

With this in mind, 150 RAW agents are to be stationed in Kandahar for listening operations regarding troop movement and military activities of Pakistan and the movement of Pakistani ambassadorial officials within Afghanistan.

President Recep Erdogan had watched the mission to eliminate the provisional government of the Turkish Authority Zone from the secure bunker under the Presidential Palace. A clear and encrypted feed from the cameras on all of the men's helmets provided Erdogan and the high level government officials with him an exact picture of the great success of the mission. The men joining Erdogan were part of his inner most circle of trusted confidants. This included Ahmet Davutoğlu, the leader of the Justice and Development party and Erdogan's Vice President, Fuat Oktay, Erdogan's Chief of Staff and former Vice President, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Süleyman Soylu, Minister of the Interior, and Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defense and a former Chief of the General Staff.

There was a somber attitude as the men watched the twelve leaders of the provisional government executed right before their very eyes. Once the the team had successfully exfiltrated from the mission zone, the feed was cut and all of the men in the bunker turned to congratulate President Erdogan on the success of the mission that he had proposed. Erdogan in turn gave special thanks and recognition to Minister Akar for having the foresight to select an especially capable unit from the Maroon Berets to carry out the mission. He then turned to all the men and the room to address them...

"Inshallah, this is the beginning of something great. As some of you know, the Republic of Turkey has seen its' power wane in comparison to the great Ottoman Empire. Well, this is something that ends today. I will be giving a speech today that will cement our rule over the Authority Zone and allow us to begin removing all of the Kurdish terrorists from what will soon become a special status region of the Republic. I would really appreciate it if you gentlemen would all accompany me as I make this historic announcement."

Of course, all of the men gave their vigorous acceptance of President Erdogan's offer. Erdogan was the single most powerful man in the Republic, and the path to success for most political figures was to align themselves as closely as possible to Erdogan and his policy goals. While most of the men in the room with him were members of the Justice and Development Party, which Erdogan hailed from, several were independents, but their loyalty to Erdogan was unwavering. To be associated with such a monumental announcement would no doubt be good for all of the men involved.

Ak Saray (The Presidential Palace), Ankara, Republic of Turkey
0730

"Ladies and gentlemen, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey."

All of the reporters in the room stood up and clapped and President Erdogan emerged from behind a grand pair of doors that had just been opened by two men of his security detail. The applause was vigorous as the men from the bunker all emerged behind him. The appearance of so many high level officials belied the fact that this would be a very important announcement from the President. As President Erdogan approached the podium and smiled and waved to the members of the press and some assembled politicians (most from his party), all the other important men lined up behind him. As the applause died down, Erdogan began to speak...

"There is no doubt that many of you have probably already seen the vile video circulating the internet. It was yesterday that a video was uploaded, late last night, showing the execution of the entire provisional government of the Turkish Authority Zone by supporters of the horrible dictator Bashar Assad. This is a grave and absolute violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian people within the Turkish Authority Zone, and an affront to the sovereignty of the Republic of Turkey. These terrorist dogs will be given no quarter.

Since the whole of the provisional government was slaughtered it has clearly been proven that the Free Syrian Army cannot alone protect the Syrian people in the Turkish Authority Zone. As such, I am today announcing that the Turkish Authority Zone will be abolished and the transition will begin immediately to establish the former Authority Zone into a region of the Republic with special status. It is the God given right of the Republic to protect those too weak to protect themselves from horrible dictators like Bashar Assad and his Russian cronies. No longer will there be any violations of the air space of the former Authority Zone. No longer will cross border artillery fire be acceptable.

Any violation of the sovereignty of the former Authority Zone will now be a violation of the Republic of Turkey. And any violation of Turkish sovereignty will be met with swift and bloody reprisals. God bless the martyrs of the Turkish Armed Forces, who shall now be avenged ten fold should Bashar Assad or his Russian dogs try to push around the Republic of Turkey. The brave men and women of the Turkish Armed Forces stand stalwart in the face of any threat. Long live the Republic! Thank you for your attendance today ladies and gentlemen, this concludes my remarks."

At that, Erdogan turned on his heels as cameras began to flash and reporters began to yell out questions, trying to get some context on the remarks that they had just heard. But Erdogan quickly walked through the doors followed by the men who had accompanied, and the doors quickly closed behind them. All of the men quickly coalesced around the President and congratulated him on the stern and clear remarks he had just made. They were all very happy to hear that the Republic would be taking a much harder stance on their enemies. Now came questions of who would administer the new province. Erdogan made the men very happy by announcing to them that the new special status region would be administered by a military governor. They knew that soon, the world would realize just how serious Turkey was about being a real superpower.

Collaboration with Canafa, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

Vladivostok, Russian Federation

The Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un is brought through the city of Vladivostok, a scenic drive as they drive around the Russian city, the jewel of the Far East. After several minutes of driving, Supreme Leader is brought to the Governor's building which was taken over temporarily by President Vladimir Putin for the meeting location. Awaiting the Supreme Leader's arrival, he silently goes through the discussion topics in his mind and what his words will be. This meeting is necessary to bring some sort of good PR to the world. Kim Jong-Un, leader of the hermit kingdom. Ever since the slow retreat of the Americans from international meddling with the Viruma crisis, he had been waiting for the moment where he could open up a diplomatic dialogue with his second most powerful neighbor. For the second time in half a decade, he rode through the streets of Vladivostok, watching somewhat familiar streets go by, as he too considered what he would bring up with his Russian counterpart. Finally, the motorcade arrives at the Governor's building, a temporary presidential palace. The Supreme Leader adjusts himself as he approaches the building, and allows his Russian escort and translator to lead him into the building, quickly navigating his way to the meeting place…

President Putin smiles as the Supreme Leader enters the room, standing up and giving a small bow as to show he respected Kim's authority and stuck out his hand to shake it. "Thank you for coming, Supreme Leader. I have many things we need to discuss and not much time. I've heard that the Turkish have been meddling in the Middle Eastern affairs, so my attention is somewhat divided. But I'm sure this meeting will go perfectly."

Kim nods as he listens, and respectfully shakes Putin's hand back. Flashing one of his carefully practiced smiles, he collects his thoughts for a moment before responding. "I am happy to be able to meet you today, President. I understand your nation has other matters, so I will attempt not to take up too much of your time. I am simply glad that our nations may finally begin to mend relations. Now, speaking of that, I will allow you to say first, what did you call this meeting for? My advisors gave me a general idea, but not any specifics..."

Putin sits down in the chair opposite the Supreme Leader, nodding in the lack of understanding from the North Korean. "The reason I invited you to the meeting is because we understand that despite all this time, all the efforts your nation makes is the west that hinders your ability to allow your people to prosper. I am here to discuss economic prosperity and the possibility of being able to support us in getting more support of lifting the sanctions being placed upon your nation. Something I'm sure interests you greatly, after all, you wish to show the world that North Korea is the best Korea, no?"

Kim sits down in the offered chair, and considers the words for a few moments. Finally, he nods as Putin finishes, letting out a sigh. "As superior as we like to make ourselves seem to the Southerners... we have fallen on hard times as of late, thanks to these Western sanctions. Especially among the Americans, our oldest antagonist. While our country strives on its self-sufficiency, opening up the international market for our goods once more would be a large boon to our economy, and a much welcome one at that. What are you proposing, then?"

"It's really simple. As we know, the Friendship bridge that connects our two nations together is simply inadequate for a means of trade. What I propose is redesigning and expanding the Korean-Russian Friendship bridge to compensate for the soon to be increase in trade between our nations. Which, you're now wondering what will be this sudden increase of trade? Well, we also look forward to expanding this." He pulls out documents of the Rason Special Economic Zone in North Korea. "This is what we're hoping to settle with you in regards to the economic issues we may have. What we need is to modernize this zone heavily to allow Russian businesses to heavily expand into the area, we're also allowing you to direct access to Russian specialists to support your nation's businesses slowly, creating a domestic industry. Your nation could do wonders in information technology, you just need to apply yourself correctly."

"I agree that my nation could greatly do with an industrial base being built, however..." Kim quickly skims over the documents, and stays silent for a few more moments. "A domestic industrial base would be great, however, are you sure that an Information Technology base would be the right industry to invest in? The South already invests heavily in information technology..." He flips the file closed again, and nods. "In the meantime, the Korean-Russian Friendship Bridge expansion is something which we can get working on immediately. While we have been greatly benefitted by our special relationship with China, a diversification of our economy can only give boons to all involved. Speaking of our special relationship... The DPRK has long been supported militarily by the Chinese, but our military is swiftly growing outdated. While our military is among the greatest in the world, I fear that we will be unable to maintain this title for long..."

"Believe me, your people have a history of using technology to its advantage, do not be so humble when your group hacked Sony and when you collect bitcoins as time goes on. Your people are naturally gifted with the use of computers and other devices, perfect for the future IT base of the greatest Korea. As for military equipment.." Putin smiled, laughing gently as he showed his overly friendly side, trying to bring ease to the North Korean Supreme Leader. "You see, Russia would be more than happy to modernize our close ally and friend. Anything you wish to purchase, we have in storage. Several hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles, aircraft, we are modernizing our armed forces too. So why should only we benefit? So you will definitely get your equipment, but...there is one catch to such a military deal...Which leads directly to us supporting the end of the sanctions being placed on Korea, you can no longer test ballistic missiles towards South Korea or Japan. Or continue creating more nuclear weapons and focusing it instead towards nuclear energy to support your growing economy you will have in the future."

Kim stops for a moment as the last sentence is said, almost as if he couldn't believe what he'd heard. He gives a curious look to the president sitting across from him, searching for any sign of joking in his eyes, slowly speaking with a certain slowness and cautiousness. "I... am grateful for the offer. However, the cessation of missile testing alone is... problematic. I do hope you do not mean we must stop altogether. In addition, our nuclear arsenal is our strongest asset, alongside our unity of people. I had already been considering investing in nuclear energy, however, the cessation of the expansion of our nuclear arsenal... the weapons which you provide pale in comparison. A limit, perhaps, on the ratio of nuclear weapons to reactors would be much preferable, but we will not stop maintaining, and occasionally expanding, our arsenal..."

"Well I never said you needed to stop maintaining and...I simply said to end your missile tests towards South Korea and Japan. I of course, have a compromise. We are willing to allow North Korea not only to keep launching ballistic missiles, but safely in the wastes of Siberia far from the prying eyes of the Western world, but we will also allow you to inspect several of our tactical and strategic missiles for your scientists....As for the nuclear weaponry.." Putin thinks for a moment, sighing knowing that some things he cannot really control, "I guess we can set up a ratio of nuclear weapons to reactors, which we are willing to provide assistance towards the design and construction of North Korean nuclear reactors. But as long as you do not launch these missiles towards the West, while also expanding economic expansion into North Korea by our businesses, we can all benefit as friends much like the Soviet Union had done a long time ago."

Kim Jong Un nods, happy at the compromise, and cracks another smile. "I'm glad you can see our point of view, and I understand that it's not the best deal on your end. But I appreciate your compromise! We will halt our ballistic missile testing for the time being, and wait for details to be finalized before we continue our testing. And, once again, we will halt nuclear expansion for the time being while we negotiate a satisfactory ratio. Our economies shall thrive together, I feel, and I look forward to future cooperation! In the meantime, is there anything else our great nation can do to assist you?"

"As far as I can tell, there is nothing more than the necessities of pictures and simple small talks to end this meeting. But truthfully, Supreme Leader, I believe that while this is my last term I will have an even greater impact than all of my other terms combined. In which I will throw you ahead into an age of prosperity and growth, closely again on the Russian wing. Now, enough of the formalities, let's relax and simply enjoy the great foods of Vladivostok and the ocean breeze you can smell when the wind blows right." Putin smiles leaning back into his chair, pleased with how the meeting went and how simple it was. Desperation was a powerful tool for the mighty to use, but in the end the giant was merciful and helped the lesser being. North Korea is simply a means to an end, they should simply be thankful they are being pushed in the right direction.

After the meeting with Kim Jong-un going well, Putin groaned in annoyance. Turkey was simply making moves too much for their own good, thinking they are some sort of invincible warrior when all they are is a fly entering a house too big for their small minds to comprehend. Putin had to act quickly and decisively, his last term as President will not be marked by the weakness of handling this affair poorly. He braved the storm that was Virumaa and destroyed NATO due to the weakness of the United States Government. Being bold worked before and it will work again, especially on a weaker nation such as Turkey. If they wished to show their power on the world stage, they simply believe their power greater than it really is.

"Give me the Defense Minister on the line, we are going to move quickly with our reply and ensure that the Turkish Government knows their place on the world stage if they wish to make their moves, let them know the consequences of their actions."

After a minute, Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu is on the phone, "Yes Comrade President?"

"I need an immediate response to the Turkish practical integration of the Syrian Occupation Zone, you will deploy the 2nd Guards Motor Rifle Division to Syria and inform the Syrian Government of our actions. Station them in Raqqa and quickly set up mobile air defenses as well, S-300 missile platforms and SCUD tactical missile launchers. I also demand that we station Su-57s, SU-25s and Beriev A-100s. The Turkish threat will not be taken lightly and I will be lodging a diplomatic complaint and preparing to ease them into a more ideal position for our nation. Carry out my orders immediately and with haste. Also get the G.R.U preparing to send equipment to allies in the region, we need to prepare for the worse that perhaps that they may attack Kurdistan in the name of "peace" and what not, we will send supplies to the Kurdish with small arms, anti-tank weapons and armored vehicles. Encourage them all you can to send these supplies to PKK militants in the region to distract them and prepare ourselves if they are to be compromised. Standard procedure for identity removal and ensure that our meddling isn't known. That is all." Putin hang up and quickly pushed himself from his seat and ordered the guards with him to quickly get him a flight back to Moscow.

"It is the will of the Turkish President that they believe they have some sort of right in dictating the policy of the Middle East, after everything they have done to actively pursue a policy of extreme negligence and outright aggression towards the stability and peaceful relations of Middle Eastern nations. Actively invading the nation of Syria and only through the unity of the Syrian Government and the brave Kurdish fighters of Rojava who joined in arms with their Government to defend their right to be free from Turkish abuse and genocide. It is only because of the strength of the Syrian people is what allowed them to survive. But now, the Turkish Government is threatening the territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, with the recent incident in the Syrian Occupation Zone, we cannot believe that such an incident should be taken lightly nor should members take it so hastily.

"We do not find it believable that the incident could be caused by supporters of the Syrian President, mostly due to the long history of the region for being extremely supportive of Islamic militant groups and being a center of the Rebellion. Along with it being an early location where the Turkish military had supported the terrorist Syrian National Army, allowing them almost full control of the region for almost a decade. Finally, it is hardly believable that the men who have done the operation could be simple supporters for their ability to execute the governing members of the Syrian Occupation Zone, then simply disappear without another word from the Turkish Government, along with their aggressive stance towards the Government of Syria and my very own. As such, we demand that President Erdogan stand down from their rhetoric and ease their relations with the Syrian Arab Government and Russian Federation, along with making a joint investigation towards the incident concerning the entirety of the occupation government that was slaughtered by unknown combatants. I will also not tolerate any other aggressive actions by their Government, or else we will suspend all oil based trade with the Republic of Turkey until they withdrawal from their hostile advances and ensure a diplomatic goal is achieved instead. We hope that the United Nations along with other nations in the region understand the implications such aggressive stance can have towards ensuring peace and the end of the endless violence from militants who benefit from the conflicts and proxy wars being waged, ultimately harming all nations in the end, with unity and a forward path all can benefit. But until that is recognize, we will ensure our allies will not be harmed and that all reasonable actions will be made to carry out the will of Russia's people and her allies."

Islamic Republic of Iran

A new threat

Image

Islamic Consultative Assembly, Tehran, Iran
"This is an outrage, we cannot let those Turks get away with this!" Shouted a Principlist member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly [ICA]. The crowd cheered in agreement and demanded action against the Turkish agression in Syria.
"Word has already reached you all i see. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, president of the Republic of Turkey, has declared its intentions to annex the occupied territories in northern Syria. We are all well aware that this cannot be tolerated. Syria has been a long standing ally and a member of the Axis of Resistance. We must however not react rashly, as we might regret such decision. We must take careful action and try to solve this in a peaceful manner." President Eshaq Jahangiri spoke.
The ICA seemed to agree, but what actions had to be taken? Sending a strong worded letter alone would not be enough, yet sending in the troops to fight the Turks wasn't the best of options either.
A long and tiresome debate followed where over and over people repeated the same. The Principlists demanded strong action, military action, while the Reformists refused military action and demanded a peaceful resolution. After a long morning a final decision was made and approved 187 versus 103.
For now Iran would protest diplomatically and gather its partners who might be able to put more pressure on the Turkish authorities. Furthermore it was decided that the 3.000 troops that had been withdrawn from Syria last year were to be re-deployed there to show Iran was serious about it.

President Erdoğan,

Word has reached us about the events that occured in northern Syria. While we do not mourn dead terrorists, we understand you concern. However, we have seen no evidence nor reason that makes us believe the Syrian government was responsible. We offer a joint investigation into the executions to find out who's truely responsible.

What troubles us more is the Turkish intention to 'intergrate' parts of northern Syria. May we remind you of the fact that this is illegal according to international law. We urge you to cease your activities and return to the negotiating table. Iran cannot, and will not accept this kind of agression towards its allies.

Signed, Eshaq Jahangiri, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

President Putin,

Word might have reached you already about the Turkish so called 'intergration' of parts of northern Syria after it's leaders were executed by unknown men. We do not believe the Syrian government is behind the deaths of these terrorists and have offered Turkey to hold a joint investigation into the murders.
We have made it clear to Turkey that their intention to annex parts of northern Syria is illegal and will not be accepted by Iran in any way, shape or form. Iran will gather the Axis of Resistance and urge them to do whatever it takes to keep Turkey from trying such agressive moves against its members. Being a loyal ally to Syria i personally urge you to aid us against the Turkish authorities and to strenghten our cooperation in Syria.

Signed, Eshaq Jahangiri, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Iran welcomes the credits offered by India as it has always believed in a better relationship through trade and cooperation. Iran is also in favour of vocational schools and educational exchange programs, seeing it as an oppertunity for its students.
Although Iran is always open for trade in oil, there is concern over the sanctions imposed on Iran by the United States of America and subsequently the ability of India to keep itself to its obligations that come with such an agreement.
A joint-intelligence sharing agreement is in all of our interests. Iran sees the trouble Afghanistan as a risk to its security and thus welcomes the Indian initiative.

Ambition

The old President stood behind the podium, straightened his tie as cameras flashed and recorded, he smiled briefly as he organized the papers of his speech. He was flanked on the right by Mateusz Morawiecki, former Prime Minister under the Duda Administration and current Minister of Investment and Economic Development while Duda, Kaczynski's protege was currently serving as his Prime Minister. On the left stood Bozena Szopa, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy. The recent election in 2023 had put further wind in the sails of the Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc, or Law and Justice party as the margin of it's supermajority has increased, if slightly, in both the Upper and Lower House of the Polish Parliament. This was despite highly controversial amendments to the judicial system introduced earlier which had resulted in outrage from the main opposition party, the KO-PO and other opposition parties as well as several EU institutions. Kaczynski however saw it as a necessary step for the nation to take, he was committed to the idea of "sanation" from any vestiges of what the PiS saw of the communist past while the opposition was content with "letting the past be the past". However, with three consecutive supermajorities the PiS had been able to realize it's vision of Poland, a vision that still resonated with the public, caught up in a conservative-rightist zeitgeist. Kaczynski and the rest of the PiS inner circle was in agreement that Poland needed a bold vision and a great united effort to fully unleash the country's still dormant potential. And so, they had come here to announce bold ambitions for the nation, ambitions that would not be halted by Russian belligerence.

"My friends and countrymen." The President said firmly. "Fellow people of Poland. I can do nothing but thank you from the bottom of my heart for the great trust you have placed in the Law and Justice party and in me in last year's election, you lent us your greatest confidence once more and I swear to you that we shall not squander your trust. The coming mandate, indeed, the remaining years of this decade are of paramount importance to our country and I am overjoyed that the people have chosen the Law and Justice party so that the challenges that we need to overcome as a nation to truly blossom can be properly handled. The time that our party has been in power has been a time of great progress for us as a nation. Our economy has grown thanks to the continued economic reforms, social reforms and infrastructural investments. We plan that by 2027 we will have closed most, if not all gaps in our highway, expressway and railway networks finish the great work that began in 2017. Our economy has grown significantly and is maturing to the point where we can slowly stop only chasing the West and begin charting our own course toward success. By most estimates, our GDP per capita when adjusted for purchasing power can rise as high as 42 500 dollars by the end of the year, surpassing nations such as Portugal. This government shall do all it can to make such a future reality for us. We shall invest in our safety and our national defense capabilities to project a credible deterrence to Russian belligerence and support our Baltic allies, bringing our Land Force and Air Force and Navy fully into the 21'st century. Under my administration national defense will remain a key priority. I shall also give significant attention to law enforcement so that we and our children may live our lives in safety and peace. But one of the most pressing matters is the fact that the Poland is aging and this trend must be tackled if we are to sustain our unique culture and our economy. The pro-family programs instituted under the Duda Administration and post-Brexit re-migration of the British Polonia done some to alleviate this problem but it is clear that further measures need to be taken, which Minister Szopa will be more then eager to tell you more about." Jaroslaw said with a polite gesture toward Minister Bozena Szopa who now raised her voice.

"The budget set forth for this mandate will go down in history as the budget of the family as we aim to have one of the most comprehensive family policies in OCED, studying in particular the French, Scandinavian and more recent Hungarian systems. 750 million Zlotys will be allocated to the public healthcare system specifically earmarked to improve the quality and availability of maternity care throughout the country. There shall be a new system of monthly family allowance replacing the old 500+ Program in order to provide greater help to Polish families and children, especially those of poor backgrounds by a monthly 850 Zloty allowance for each child until the child reaches 18 years of age. For far too long, parties on the political right have seen a discussion on family policy as a non-starter, with family policy often seen as a policy of government hand-outs. We shall break this mold, our close allies in Hungary have done so and so shall we. Thus, the government will take extensive and comprehensive measures in order to help and support the family, the bedrock that every society is built upon. According to a poll by Eurobarometer, in most European countries the number of children that families intend to have is is not only high enough to avert drastic population ageing in the foreseeable future, it even comes either higher than or close to the replacement rate depending on the country, which would be sufficient to replace the current working population in most developed nations. Unfortunately, the actual number of births is lower than the intended one. It seems that the reason why families have so few children is that they face material obstacles to fulfilling their wishes. Thus, we shall introduce measures such as marriage allowance of up to 350 Zlotys monthly to both spouses for the first 24 months of a marriage if at least one of the spouses is below 35 years of age. A monthly childcare allowance equivalent to 70% of the applicant's salary will be provided until the child's second birthday, this allowance will however not rise to a sum above 150% of the minimum wage. Great focus shall be placed on providing childcare as part of the public system, and the government will do what it can to help Polish families cope with the challenges they face in the modern world." Minister Szopa said a gave the President a nod and smile.

"Thank you, Minister Szopa." Kaczynski said courteously. "As Minister Szopa said, the family is the bedrock that any society is built upon and our support for the family is one of the most direct investments that can be made in a country's future. And on the topic of investment, I'm sure Minister Morawiecki would like to have a word." The President said and nodded to the Minister of Investments and Economic Development who now added his voice to the press conference.

"Poland has a great amount of economic potential waiting to be unleashed and the policies of this government will aim to do just that. It is imperative that our country adopts an aggressive and dynamic series of policies designed to capitalize on Poland's current-day economic advantages to pave the way to a prosperous future for our children. If we do not waste these years, Poland can become one of the main growth engines of the EU attaining the similar levels of development and wealth as Southern European nations like Spain or Italy. We will do our utmost to make this a reality and programs are planned to make our country the third largest process manufacturer in the EU. To make Poland a major food supplier for Western Europe, to create over 500 000 jobs in advanced business services, to become a pharmaceutical hub and to salvage and future-proof the struggling Polish mining sector. All of this is possible and needed if Poland is the be anything but a regionally focused middle-economy. We shall adopt an accelerated growth policy, catch up with the advanced economies and become a globally competitive growth engine with internationally recognized Polish brands. We shall take the measures needed to close the productivity-gap within crucial sectors such as mining, agriculture and energy while expanding high-potential sectors like advanced business services, process manufacturing and food processing. Over to you, mister President." Morawiecki finished.

"Thank you, mister Minister." Kaczynski said and once more let his voice be heard. "We are at a unique moment in our history, our country has the means and resources to begin a new phase of it's live, the revitalize itself and grow. A point has been reached when we cannot rely on the invisible hand, we require ambitious plans and bold execution of them to achieve new heights. I shall focus the efforts of my administration to make our ambitious plans reality, to make Poland wealthy, safe and strong. To deepen our ties with our allies near and far, working closely within the framework of CESDOT, the Visegrad Group and the European Union while furthering our diplomatic outreach across the world to nations such as Great Britain and the United States. With hard work and determined political will, our comprehensive Poland 2030 Program can become reality, thank you ladies and gentlemen."

Policymakers at Work

Mining, especially coal mining but also copper and silver present one of the sectors with the largest productivity-gaps when compared to western EU nations at a staggering 72%. Coal mining has been one of Poland's major export industries since the Interwar Era and measures should be taken to improve it's profitability and future viability. With the reforms introduced as part of this policy package it is the hope of the government that Polish coal mining, alongside Polish mining in general is given a good chance to grow into a stable, profitable and innovative sector of the national economy. Analyses indicate that several concerted actions can serve to turn the sector around as today, more than a dozen Polish coal mines are in danger of bankruptcy. The government hopes that if applied systematically, the following actions will result in significant growth and double-digit productivity improvements in Poland mining sector.

* Active Measures.
- Abandon geological areas that cannot be made economically viable by operational improvements.
- Eliminate regulatory barriers that increase effective operation costs and reduce labor productivity while not improving safety or working conditions for employees.
- Set up a 2 billion Zloty Mining Fund, providing low-interest loans to provide the means and financial incentives to apply process improvements, standardize procedures and enable continuous improvement in equipment availability and effectiveness, labor productivity, energy and utility efficiency, and safety standards.
- Develop Katowice as a global hub for underground operations and technologies such as smart mines. Poland is well-positioned to be a leading nation in mining innovation combining a highly skilled and cost-effective engineering workforce with local underground expertise. These measures will only increase in importance over time as global mineral reserves from readily available open-pit mines are depleted and this expertise could become a significant Polish export service in the future.

Poland ranks fourth in the EU in terms of viable arable land after France, Spain and Germany. Approximately 200 million EU citizens live within 1000 kilometers from the Polish border, providing Polish farmers and food processing companies a large and dynamic market to take advantage of. In order to tap into the revenue from this potential market, Polish farms must close the productivity gap when compared to the West. Growing urbanization in Western Europe has made Poland with it's large agricultural land areas a prime candidate as a food supplier for Western EU nations. The agricultural sector has great potential but is marred by structural inefficiency. It contributes to only about 2% of national GDP but employs over 11% of the total workforce. To make Poland a sound base for a profitable and dynamic food industry hub the sector needs transformation in the following fields to increase productivity and growth. Increased dynamism in agriculture would bring more wealth into the hands of Poland's rural population, numbering at 40% of the population and encourage spending. Poland is uniquely positioned to become a major food supplier and numerous Polish food-processing companies have invested in modern production-line infrastructure, especially in dairy, meat, frozen foods and beverages, setting an example for others to follow, a change the government hopes to support with the following reform package.

* Active Measures.
- Lobby the European Parliament and the European Investment Bank to dedicate a full 9% of the Common Agricultural Budget to Poland.
- Increasing through consolidation the size of the average family-owned farm which in Poland is at around 10 hectares while those in Western Europe are around 50 hectares.
- Improving yields on Polish farms by encouraging land leases, contract farming and financial incentives to form producer's co-operatives.
- Re-orienting the sector from it's current focus on low-value raw produce toward higher value processed foodstuffs.
- Intitialize the DobrostanPlus Program, offering financial incentives to farmers who take measures to improve the welfare and conditions of animals on their farms by avoiding overcrowding, taking measures to find local suppliers of organically produced feed and local butcheries no more than 50 kilometers away to minimize animal transport time and emissions while offering more locally sourced and eco-friendly foodstuffs to local markets and benefiting local agricultural and food-processing industries.
- Create a support fund of 850 million Zlotys as an incentive for adoption of ecological farming practices as only farms that live up to the EU standard on ecological agricultural practices will be eligible for grants from the fund. We hope to at least double the amount of Polish farms with Organic Certification from 40 000 to 80 000.
- Create a disaster relief fund made up of EU and national funds to help support farmers in need who lose crops and income due to drought, excessive rains, flooding and other natural factors.
- Seek opportunities to consolidate food processing industries to gain much needed scale, including the adoption of a cooperative business model for fragmented producers.
- Increase food product complexity and move up the value chain, for instance by increasing focus on organic produce and products for specialized diets popular in the West.
- Build the strength of Polish brands, preferably with help from Western European retailers with special focus on categories such as poultry, pork and dairy where Poland has a strong position in the EU foodstuffs market.
- Encourage further investment in intellectual property as well as R&D in such areas as conservation, filtering, and packaging innovations in order to promote technological development and encourage closer cooperation between academia and the agricultural sector.

Poland is one of the world's leading nations when it comes to the business and service sector, especially as a destination for outsourced and offshored business services (O&O). The growth of O&O in Poland has outpaced a number of formerly anticipated leaders in the field, and is expected to grow further in the near future. At the moment, the Polish Outsourcing and Offshoring sector employs over 225 000 people in over 800 business parks and centers across the country. Poland possesses a strong combination of advantages to develop it's role as a supplier of advanced business services. These include plentiful talent, conveniently situated in modern cities with lower labor costs than in Western Europe but with similar skills, an EU time-zone and a familiar legal code. With the right mix of initiative and policy enhancements the government hopes to expand the high-end O&O sector to over 650 000 jobs over the next 6 years with another 165 000 jobs being created in various related support services. The further expansion of business services will aim primarily at providing office services in loans and banking, mortgage-process management, policy and claims handling, big data analytics, remote health diagnostics, data storage and many other fields.

* Active Measures.
- Adapt educational curricula to provide the more specialized needs of the sector, improving the quality of foreign language proficiency and specialized expertise in for example financial fraud detection and big data analytics.
- Offer growth incentives for local Polish finance and insurance service leaders to help them develop the scale and efficiency needed to compete globally by using the infrastructure of state-owned enterprises and the Polish capital market. This shall be done by opening an investment fund of 2.5 billion Zlotys which will provide loans of up to 40% of the total cost of the venture with private capital funding the remaining 60% of the projected cost. The sum of the grant given shall be re-payed with a small fixed interest within a period agreed upon at the application for the grant.
- Develop and fund a broad international campaign to promote Poland as an European champion of outsourced and offshored business services.
- Help Poland's largest cities become magnets for O&O investors by establishing world-class investors´front desks and support services by increasing the funding of the Polish Trade and Investment Agency by 50 million Zlotys.
- Build strong industry associations to develop a growth vision for the industry and aligned educational programs.

The Polish population has since the fall of the communist regime gone through a period of stagnation, aging and contraction due a drop in fertility rates, increase in death rates and large-scale emigration. While primarily post-Brexit re-migration and a small increase in fertility from 1.47 in 2019 to 1.52 projected for mid-2024 has somewhat blunted the edge of the shift. It is necessary to work these trends in a positive direction in order to provide a long-term model for stable internal natural growth in order to secure Poland's economic growth prospects while causing as little disruption as possible to the nation's social fabric and strain on social services leading to Polish avoidance of implementing western-style open-doors migration policies. With a comprehensive policy developed by studying the French, Scandinavian and later Hungarian family policy, the government hopes to stabilize Poland's fertility rates and achieve stable replacement levels over a long term. While the PiS administration's former family reforms including 500+ and Rodzina+ raised growth levels, further resources and further time is needed to, hopefully, reach a TFR of 1.9 or, if more successful, even higher by 2045. If significantly lower by the same period of time, the government will be forced to explore additional options to halt the degradation of the workforce. A significant portion of GDP will be allocated over time to the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy to achieve these goals.

* Active Measures.
- A monthly child allowance shall be made available amounting to 850 zlotys per child until the child reaches 18 years of age.
- Families with 3 or more children will be eligible for a tax reduction system amounting up to 400 zlotys monthly.
- Provide 200 000 public creche/daycare places by 2027. The operation of which will fall under a new branch of the Ministry of Education. Raise to a total of 480 000 places by 2032.
- Institute 20 weeks of Maternity Leave on 80% of pay for the first child.
- Institute 10 weeks of Paternity Leave on 80% of pay for the first child.
- Streamline the application for and encourage through tax-breaks the establishment of employer's on-site daycare, allowing employees to return to professional life faster.
- Medicines prescribed to pregnant women by a doctor for issues related to their pregnancy will be free of charge.
- A marriage allowance shall be universally instituted and payed out to newlywed couples. It shall be at the amount of 350 Zlotys per spouse for the first 24 months of the marriage. To be eligible both persons must have a clean criminal record and at least one of the spouses must be below 35 years of age.
- A monthly childcare allowance equivalent to 70% of the applicants salary shall be made available and will be provided until the child's second birthday, this allowance will however not rise to a sum above 140% of the minimum wage.
- Work with the Polish Catholic Church to promote nuclear family values. With around 90% of the population identifying as Catholic and around 60% identifying as observant worshipers the Polish Catholic Church can provide a strong voice in the promotion of family values.
- Work with NGO's such as the Marsz dla Zycia i Rodziny, the Trwam Foundation, OPOKA and similar organizations to promote nuclear family values.
- Encourage the positive portrayal of family values in art and media.
- Found the Reproductive Health Research Institute, tasked with studying fertility and reproductive health.

As a further promotion of the high-end service sector, a new top modern business center shall be constructed in Warsaw in the Saska Kepa district. Located on the eastern bank of the Vistula river the new multi-use complex will have a usable surface of 2.3 million square meters that will be taken up by office spaces, business centers, convention centers, high-end apartments, hotels, shopping areas, a shopping mall, recreation areas, transport centers, exhibition centers, a medical clinic, a police station and a central green belt among other facilities and amenities. With a projected cost of approximately 6.5 billion Euros and with an preliminary completion date in mid-2027, the Saska Kepa Business Center is a significant investment and it is the hope of the government that it will serve to further attract both local and international businesses willing to invest in Warsaw's high-end service sector. It is no doubt an ambitious project, perfect for reflecting an ambitious city and ambitious country. The area of the SKIBC shall be regarded as a Special Economic Zone, with special incentives and a "tax holiday" program for local Polish tech startups as well as smaller tax reductions and streamlined processes for foreign companies.

Greetings and salutations to our valued Friends and Allies.

Since the fall of communism later led to the formation of the Visegrad Group, this organization was sadly put on a "back-burner" for over a decade after our nations joined the EU in 2004, this partnership has however been significantly revived over the last 9 years especially since the Migrant Crisis of 2015, when our nations stood up to the irresponsible and naive migration policies of Western Europe, this has shown that even despite the many great benefits that EU membership the interests, policies and wishes of people in the East and West do not always align. The Visegrad Group has great potential to become a forum for nations in Eastern Europe, closely linked by cultural, historical and many ideological ties to discuss policies that would benefit us. It is a forum for Eastern European states to work together locally and to work on solutions to our common local issues, it is a forum where we can coordinate and put up a strong united voice in the EU to counter those policies of Western nations that do not fall in line with the interests and wishes of the EU's eastern half and a way for us to discuss common goals that we wish to work toward in the EU Parliament. The Visegrad Group is a community that should be strong and vibrant, putting forward policies and solutions by Eastern European nations for us to cooperate and work together on to resolve issues pertinent to us. This is why Poland would like to invite representatives from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia to Krakow in order to hold comprehensive talks regarding Eastern issues.

* The Points of Discussion Shall Be.
- Discuss possibility of deeper economic partnerships between our nations
- Discuss measures of cultural cooperation and joint political and diplomatic stances between our nations.
- Discuss possibility of joint infrastructural projects between our nations.
- Discuss measures on cross-party international cooperation between our governments in the EU Parliament.
- Discuss measures on joint research projects between our nations.
- Discuss possible joint Summit between the V4 and Croatia, including possible extension of membership in the Visegrad Group to Croatia.

Greetings and salutations to the people and government of Britain.

We wish nothing but health, happiness and prosperity for the British peoples, unified in one Great Britain in this time of instability and we hope to work on improving ties with the UK. Our nations have cooperated historically in the most horrible conflict in human history, Britain sheltered the legitimate government of Poland through World War 2 all the way until the fall of communism in 1989. Now, we stand together as allies in CESDOT and we wish to improve the bilateral ties between our nations, extending trade and the flow of goods between us. With Russian belligerence and warmongering casting a shadow across the East, security and national defense are becoming significantly more important issues. It is our hope that the UK and Poland can grow their bilateral relationship in the face of growing international challenges and instability to anchor each other in calm seas. Thus, we propose a top-level summit to be conducted between our governments either in London or in Warsaw.

* The Points of Discussion Shall Be.
- Discuss measures on a student exchange program.
- Discuss measures on encouragement for British companies to invest in Poland.
- Discuss measures to ease the flow of goods and services between our nations.
- Discuss measures on joint research projects between our nations.
- Discuss measures on deeper cooperation in the fields of joint training, security and covert intelligence between the MI6 and AW.
- Discuss possibility of equipment procurement plans by the Polish Armed Forces from British defense industries.

West Bank, Palestine

Ministry of Finance, Ramallah
"We should do something like Mr. Masri's city, but we should push it further to assert our right to live within the West Bank over those illegal settlers. One where we assert complete authority in security and administration within Area C. Let those in Tel Aviv try and fight this, they cannot stop us from building our homes in our land." suggested a Mr. Hassan, an older man with a fledgling Palestinian-Jordanian. "And I would like to petition for the Palestinian National Authority to finance the project and provide a light amount of security for our people, Mr. Bishara."

"Well, while I would like to support this venture and admire your clear patriotism for our nation Mr. Masri's venture was built completely in Area A. To build in Area C, as much as we would like not to have to do, would require Israeli approval to build. Not only that, but we also lack administrative and security authority within Area C. I'm sorry, but I don't think we will be able to approve for financing such a project. Provided that a smaller project may succeed, support from the PNA will become something you can expect should things go well."

Israeli West Bank Barrier
'Normally a time to spend with the family and rest, there's no other time like the present for what needs to be done.' Or at least that was the thought of this Palestinian youth as he skulked close to the eight meter high wall. Looking back and forth in the night, no patrolmen on either side were to be seen as he pulled his scarf over his face, grabbed his bag, and got to work. "Pfft, at least this wall gives me something to work with here." he told himself as he rested cans and cans of spray-paint next to barrier between the West Bank and Israel.

Over the next few hours of aerosolized paints, noxious fumes, and artistic and patriotic passion, his work had been complete. Along the length a section of the wall was his mural of peace. If he could have it his way, the wall would be just like his creation imposed on its surface. The wall broken down as Palestinians could cross the wall freely, though it wasn't like that was going to happen anytime soon.

Henshin! Kamen Rider Popular in Madagascar?

The Kamen Rider Series, a metaseries/media mix of manga, and tokusatsu television programs and films that originated from Japan are becoming increasingly popular in Madagascar and people are in love with the motorcycle-riding superhero who believes in the power of justice. Well, that's what some Malagasies think about the titular superhero and this also relates to criminal activity that involves cutting down the forest without having a permit to do so compared to murder and drug trafficking. The franchise began in 1971 with the Kamen Rider television series and then following the success of Kamen Rider Ghost (only to be dubbed into Malagasy and French) when it first aired in Madagascar outside of Japan sometime in 2021.

According to the survey by the government, 15% of people especially those below 21 years of age who have access to the internet and television said yes that they have watched Kamen Rider Ghost daily while the rest said no that they haven't and that information came from older people who haven't heard of it at all. Overall, there are some signs that the Japanese media might have an impact on African countries but it is uncertain as of right now about the future.

Andry Rajoelina's Viewpoint of EAF

A document that explains Andry's viewpoint about EAF, in general, has been leaked to the public for further information about the possibility of establishing diplomatic relations with the nation. The document is as follows "What do I think about the EAF? Well, I wouldn't say that they're not much of a threat to the countries of Africa but it can be scary when it comes to disrupting the peace throughout the world but other than that I wouldn't think too much about them as long as they're not causing trouble. In the name of Madagascar and the people who are living in today's world, it will surely be a benefit to establish diplomatic relations with them to strengthen bonds and to form peace in the future."

There are plans for a diplomatic visit sometime this month but it is yet to be confirmed.

United Kingdom
Part 2: Old Lion Awakes
To brighten things up

10 Downing Street
Westminster, London
United Kingdom

Prime Minister Johnson sat down yet again to prepare for the speech he needed to deliver. It had been a tumultuous week, and he needed to address both the British people and the world and let them know the UK's stance on what had transpired in the Middle East. The Turks had annexed Northern Syria after a claimed attack by Bashar Al-Assad on the leadership of the Syrian opposition. It was time for him to clarify the position of the United Kingdom now.

"Good evening. Many have been wondering what the stance of the United Kingdom may be on the events that transpired in the Middle East recently. After an assassination of President Anas al-Abdah of the North Syrian Free Governing Zone, the Republic of Turkey announced it would annex the region of Northern Syria. On behalf of Parliament and the British Government, I must state that this is absolutely unacceptable.

Many of you may have seen the disturbing video, and while it is a horrifying sight to us all, it does not give President Erdogan free reign to annex sovereign territory of another nation. We condemn Turkey's action as irresponsible and a poor reaction to this event. We believe a full investigation sponsored by the UN must be launched in order to get to the bottom of this event. We send our condolences to President Al-Abdah's family and the families of all of those killed.

It is the duty of all nations to strive to work together to ensure events like this do not transpire and to respect sovereign borders."

To: His Excellency Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland
From: The Right Honourable Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Honourable Leader,

We thank you for this extension of relations. In this era of Russian aggression we see it as more important than ever to maintain ties between the nations of Europe.

To advance relations between our nations further, I accept your suggestion of a summit between us. I will be willing to travel to Warsaw to discuss important matters and to hopefully reach deals that will benefit both of our nations. An especially important deal we manage to reach involves the procurement of naval vessels by Poland, as we have a growing surplus and believe a strong Polish Navy would be a good deterrent to Russian aggression in the Baltic Sea.

I look forward to the meeting.

Sincerely,
Boris Johnson, Prime Minister

Kigali,
Rwanda
-Co-written with The Palmetto

Ben Wallace, His Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Defence entered the room, flanked closely by several large men in suits who were his security. He was attended the meeting on behalf of Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The plane ride to Rwanda had been fairly smooth, and he looked forward to meeting with the EAF’s ambassador. He took a seat at the table and waited patiently for the EAF ambassador to arrive.

James Biruta, the transitional Minister of Foreign Affairs for the EAF, arrived to the meeting shortly after Wallace did. Biruta had been waiting nearby, making sure all of his notes for the conference were in order. In a well-dressed uniform, he sat down next to Wallace, and began to speak.
“Greetings, Mr. Wallace, it’s a pleasure to have you here in East Africa, is there anything I can get for you?”

Wallace was glad to see the EAF minister arrive and welcomed his peer. He was rather impressed by the man’s uniform. “It is a pleasure to visit this beautiful nation. I am here to discuss the terms my prime minister laid out for me to offer. They involve the enlargement of our military training facility in what used to be the nation of Kenya, and the arming of your military in exchange for economic development. In particular, we wish to raise the amount of battalions rotating through the base yearly from 6 to 10, as well as providing enough SA80A2 and A1 rifles to arm your entire ground force, as well as basic military equipment like body armor, camouflage fatigues, helmets, boots and grenades.” Wallace took a moment to breathe. “We also would like to invest 10 Million pounds into the EAF’s infrastructure over the next five years to assist in building your nation.” Now came for asking for stuff in return. “In return for all of this, my government wishes for exclusive access to the mining industry of Tanzania and the oil reserves of Uganda.”

"I don't necessarily object to this deal, but I think you have misspoken, friend," Biruta responded, "it's not legally possible to give you exclusive access to the mining industry of Tanzania or the oil reserves of Uganda, as there already entities operating on those fields. I would not object to tax cuts for British companies, or other incentives, however."

“Tax cuts for our companies would be excellent, as well as a guarantee of protection to British ships carrying supplies past the Horn of Somalia up to the Suez Canal.”

"Well, we certainly would look to further incentivize British trade in our country, and we want to cooperate to fight piracy, but it's not legally or logistically possible for us to guarantee protection of British ships in those areas. Our navy is almost non-existent. However, you could work with the numerous nations with bases in Dijibouti to fight against Piracy," Biruta suggested.

“I suppose we shall see if we can contact them to see what we can do.” Wallace took a sip of water. “If there is nothing else you wish to propose would you like to agree to the deal?”

"There is, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't any confusion regarding the economic aspects of our deal," Biruta noted, "I do want to flesh out the military aspect of our deal, however. I am not quite sure if you could, logistically, give us all of those rifles with those in your current stock, or if they would be what we need. For ease, I might suggest you give us an amount of money we can use to buy British equipment over a period of time, as we need it," he suggested, "In regards to military bases, you are free to send more troops to train and be stationed at the base, though it is in the middle of the desert and not too strategic. I would suggest you place another base close to the Somali border, so you can help us fight against Al-Shabab."

“The current base was built in the desert deliberately so it could be used to train troops in desert warfare. The SA80A2 and A1 are phased out of service and over 350,000 have been made since it first entered service in 1987. My government will ponder the creation of a new base but we are not certain of its creation yet.”

"Well, if you want to base more troops there, we have no objections to it. However, we have done research, and the SA80 has several reliability issues, and it seems there is a reason it was quickly phased out. We prefer our deal, since you don't lose any money, but you can still give us outdated equipment ranging from old guns to old AFVs of our choice over time, rather than within a quick period of time."

“Very well, you may be allowed to choose the weapons and equipment you desire. Is there anything you would wish to add?”

"As far as economic and military affairs go, that will be all. I must thank you again for your gracious diplomacy. However, I would ask if it is possible for you to return the artifacts from your national museums which were taken from former British East African colonies. It would be a massive victory for both of us, with us receiving prestige for regaining our cultural heritage and you being praised as being anti-colonialism. It would make you very popular in Africa as a whole, I'm inclined to think."

“We respect Africa and wish to do whatever we can to repay the debt we owe to the continent for our mistakes made a century ago. We shall return all of the artifacts in pristine condition as if they never were even taken. This has been a pleasant welcome in Africa and I thank you for your time.”

"You're welcome, I am glad you have enjoyed your stay."

In Parliament January 21st, 2024

Whereas, the People's Republic of Bangladesh has managed to fulfill all UN goals for child education, the nation remains poorly rank in education, and much of the issues in economic development stem from the poorer populaces inability to receive education past early adolescence. It is, therefore, important that the government make swift changes in the public education system so as to improve the nations ability to provide for its youth, and increase the economic prospects and paths of the future as well as the freedoms of people regardless of their social standing. It is thus the will of the Parliament that a swift and abrupt change in the education system of Bangladesh is made so as to fulfill the new goals of the educational agenda. These goals are as follows:

The Three Towers Plan
Implemented January 31st, 2024

The three towers plan aims at centralizing business in the City of Dhaka into three specific business areas. This is based on the design of Houston, Texas which has 2 separate and distinct business areas, the Downtown, and the Medical Center. In this instance each center will be aimed at centralizing the power of various sectors of the Bangladeshi economy focused in Dhaka. Specifically the Banking sector in one area, the general business sector in another area, and the startup sector in a third area. Siddique Bazar and Alu Bazar have been selected as the location of the Startup Sector area, to do this, the Dhaka Development Corporation has been alloded 50 Million Dollars to purchase all the land in both these areas to turn it into high density Business complexes, the key driving factor to this area will be the low cost and land value, to keep the land value low, the corporation will keep the area over saturated with Business space, and city taxes in this specific area, very low. Furthermore, investment offices have been planned in the area to provide a proper connection to investors for startups. Merul Badda and Ullan have been selected as the Big Business area. This area is going to be bought by the Dhaka Devlopment corporation, zone for high density and then sold to corporations who will turn the area into buildings which fit their specific needs. Dhaka city is offering development grants and planning associates to help aid in the development of the region. The third area, the banking center, is going to be Motijheel. Here the government will purchase the land to sell to banks, but already planned for construction here is the new building for the Dhaka Stock Exchange, as well as the first area in Bangladesh with high speed internet, a data center will be constructed here which has line connections to all major cities in Dhaka and thus will provide the area with rapid information speeds. A monetary incentive is also being offered for banking corporations to move to this area specifically. All these areas will be linked up with the next few lines being constructed for the Dhaka Metro.

To: Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India
From: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh
The Bangladeshi government is open to cooperating with foreign investors, however we are largely encouraging our business to empower local investors and we already have a close working relationship with East Asian investors which offers stiff competition to Indian Investment initiatives in Bangladesh. We would, however, be open to a conference with Indian leaders in order to discuss future business prospects between our nations, as well as Indian investment opportunities in Bangladesh. At which we can perhaps provide several areas in which the government desires to see a more diverse range of investors where the indian government can direct funding. Best Regards to our neighbor and friend, India.

Republic of Italy

The Stagnated Italian Economy

The Economy was on the mind of Conte, While the Italian Economy had grown since his first election, and in recent years somewhat faster due to his reforms despite the scare that was the Sanders presidency. The growth rate rested at roughly 1.5%, and with a healthy growth being 2 -3%, the economy while better was still in danger. Conte had a plan however, whilst there would be spending cuts across the board, they would attempt to continue their economic stimulus. Hopefully, Conte thought, that the recent political stability brought by being under the same Prime Minister for the past 6 years, with the same political parties being in power, would bring a safer feeling in the economy and in return cause a major increase in investment. With some Austerity measures, some Economic Stimulus and General political stability, these three things would for the foundation for Conte's Economic Initative.

But there were multiple institutional problems that cause Italy's economy to fail. A lack of responsiveness by the public government, a perceived sense of corruption within the government, and a byzantine system of tax codes, these are the things that are causing the failure of the Italian economy. The Plan going forward would be an aggressive E-government campaign, though that would be costly and likely need a loan from the EU, and a massive simplification of the tax code. all of these were going to be part of Conte's initiative to kickstart the Italian economy back into gear.

But even this discussion leads into a bigger problem, The EU, should Italy leave the euro zone or even worse The EU itself, some laud this as a radical idea, which it most surely is. However it is being pushed by some eurosceptics. On the other hand, a recently gained personal friend of Conte, Caio Giulio Cesare Mussolini who is a semi-prominent member of the Brothers of Italy, had proposed an plan to Conte during a meeting with the party, one that distracted him from the economy, one to federalize Italy.

A Federal Italy

Italy as a nation was not a federal state, it was a unitary one, but this should and would change, it would also allow for the will of the people to be carried far more effective, this would be a new day for Italy, it would also fulfill a campaign promise. The Plan would creates States according to the NUTS regions of Italy, The Northwest would be named the State of Padania, whilst the Northeast would be be named the State of Verona, the Center being named the State of Rome, the South would be split into two states, one being the State of Apulia and the other being State of Naples. All names being working titles but nonetheless, these regions would have their own Unicameral parliament to elect every 3 years. there were also talks of moving the role of promulgation to the prime minister, and getting the parliament to elect both the president and prime minister, though any change to the existing Italian central government political structure is only ideas and talks at this point in time.

International Events

The Turkish Annexation of Occupied Syrian Territory had hit Italian news, and the Prime Minister had to make an statement on the action.
Image

"This Turkish Annexation is nothing more than that, an Annexation, a resolution has been sent to the Unite Nations Security Council to deal with this. While Personally i object to the Annexation of the Occupied Territory, i objected to the occupation, since it was nothing more than a repeat of the land grab that Russia attempted back in 2014 with Crimea. I have concluded to support a done by the UN or a impartial third party to determined if these people wish to be one with Turkey, as i side with the principle of self determination"

The Prime Minister's Statement asserts itself as one going along with the Uk and US, this could been an effort to find new 'friends' outside of the EU. However Italy will remain a loyal member of the EU for the time being as Conte see the European Structural Reform Support Programme as the only source of money, that he could ask to help finance his Planned E-Government initative.

Aldis Gobzems' Address to the Saeima

Image
*Prime Minister takes the floor*

The 'Patriotu' Act (Latvian Patriot Act) has been under discussion in the parliament, facing support from the current Coalition yet tangible opposition form the Social Democratic and Liberal opposition members in the Saeima. The act gives authority to both the police and the border guard to investigate and search any 'suspicious' passers near or on the Russian border, it also gives the Latvian State Security Service privileges to investigate and scrutinise the search history and 'footprint' of any potential 'insurgents' or any other suspicious individuals. It has also an added cultural significance which includes: the Remembrance Day for Latvian soldiers (16 March) to be recognised as a national day as to respect past Latvian veterans during the second world war. The day had been scrutinised by Western European interest in 2000 leading it to be defunct, now it has the potential of being re-established to the dismay of Progressives opposed to it.

In defence of the legislation, Prime Minister Aldis Gobzems gave a speech to the Saeima. It has garnered both criticism an national attention due to his high profile and the 'Populist' messaging of his address. A following transcript has been added.

"Two Million and six hundred thousands Latvians, few decades back. They said two million too many. Out our people came, with our innovators, workers and artists."

"That wasn't enough. Our industry, our brightest and most hopeful wasn't enough. They needed more, more humiliation. Our beating heartland that had been passed down for hundreds of thousands of years, ripped out. Our land, our people only left to one million and six hundred thousand. We were betrayed by our supposed best friends across the Atlantic, we put our backbone behind a nation of cooperate interests and monetary exploitation. The blood of our boys spilled by the cowardice of a few in a foreign city a thousands of miles away, their homes and lives taken away by the gambling of two great powers that have split our planet between themselves."

-At this point the speaker of the Saeima attempted to cut Aldis off-

"No! I will not yield. I will not yield my time!"

"My message shall be heard, I will not let the voice of my nation be silenced. If you do not take action, rally to our country's cause, than we will falter once more. These times come to every generation, it is our time if we decided we capitulate to time or we stay firm like the rock of Kolka."

The vote preceded, the prevailing argument for it being that security prevails over personal liberty in times of great need.

'Latvian Patriot Act'

Summary: Grant Latvian State Security Service privileges to investigate and scrutinise the search history and 'footprint' of any potential 'insurgents' or any other suspicious individuals. Allow for Border Guards and the police to investigate or search any individuals who have deemed to be suspicious on an allocated 30 mile radius from the Russian border. Reinstate the Remembrance Day for Latvian soldiers.

Formation of the European Sovereign Group

Image
*KPV-LV Founder Artuss Kaimiņš celebrating formation of the ESG with his wife*

Hoping to have his populist messaging resonate with the rest of Europe, the founder of KPV-LV has registered his party to the newly formed European Sovereign Group. In the celebratory attendance were members of several interest groups and KPV party members, some individuals of French, Estonian and even Lithuanian descent in presence. The main prevailing themes of the group are Anti-EU Federalism, Anti-Americanism and an slant against 'Brussels' Bureaucracy'. The main electoral strategy seems to be an unclear doctrine of 'big tent' party politics, an attempt to attract all ideologically populist parties on the the left-right spectrum. There is also a possible chance that the group will attempt to exploit Russian Eastern European fears as a means to gain prominence in the EU parliament.

Currently only KPV-LV is the sole member of the group, it has garnered the endorsement of the Latvian cabinet and President Jūlija Stepaņenko.

Presidential Reform Prospects

Image
*Saeima at night*

Currently, the Latvian Republic elects it's president through rounds in the Parliament as stated originally by the 1918 constitution. As of tonight the President, Prime Minister and Cabinet are in discussion of any potential amendments be added to this process. The proposition of a publicly elected President has been put on the table, the main idea being that the President is elected in a two round election in the style of the French democracy. Though this may be unnecessary as the President in fact holds little power, mostly acting as a ceremonial figure and a check against potential corruption by either the Parliament or prime minister while being the head of the military.

The arguments for are mainly that the President would serve as a popular figurehead rather than a puppet of the any elites in the Saeima, though the election process would require additional finance and could be subject to foreign influence that could subdue democratic processes.

Theatre Adaptation of 'Zvejnieka dēls'

Image
*Latvian Theatre*

A contemporary re-interpenetration of Vilis Lācis' famous book Zvejnieka dēls has reached the Latvian National Theatre, the literary work from the 1930s had been previously adapted into two movies, and now is being acclaimed for it's sheer display of emotion and romance that the younger generation has not experience from the book or film.
The main synopsis is that a young fisherman name Oskars Klava dreams of new nets to help him gain independence from the collector Garoza but he lacks the trust of the old fishermen. The story develops from there, telling of the hardships in life with an underlying emotive love story.
It has been met with positive reviews, due to the directive vision of it's producers and the displays of it's actors. Incorporating elements of Vilis Lācis darker life and history into the production.

Assembly of Experts of the Leadership, Tehran, Iran
After eight years of loyal service it was time to elect a new Assembly of Experts, an Assembly that would serve for the coming eight years. It was a particular troublesome time for the elections though as the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, had not been seen in public for nearly a year. A tense atmosphere covered the country.
People had long been speculating about the health of the Supreme Leader, and him not showing his face on electin day made people fear the worst. Candidates had been approved by both the Guardian Council and the Supreme Leader himself, or at least that's what the government claimed. No matter what was true, people had to cast their votes today if they wanted to have a say.
While the people speculated about the Supreme Leader the candidates were more than ready for their run for membership of the Assembly, all 167 of them. Out of all of them just ten were particularly interesting to follow.

Live

Earlier this afternoon the United Nations Security Council failed to urge Turkey to retreat its forces. After a heated debate with insults thrown around both the United Kingdom and the United states vetoed the resolution set forth by Syria." President Eshaq Jahangiri explained. "It is clear that International law has no value in the eyes of the United Kingdom and the United States, and thus Iran will have to act on its own. The parliament has decided that:
  • 3.000 troops will be re-deployed to Syria.
  • The Turkish ambassador has been expelled from Iran and will have to leave the country within 24 hours.
  • A negative travel advice will be put in place for the entirety of Turkey.
  • Export restrictions will be put in place with regard to natural gas, plastics and organic chemicals.
  • Import restrictions will be put in place with regard to tobacco.
We will review the situation every 72 hours to see if more action has to be taken. We once more urge Turkey to withdraw its forces from Syria or face severe consequences. Thank you."

From: Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami

After failing to meet the Iranian demands and ignoring Iranian diplomatic efforts to resolve the current crisis Turkey will be forced to face the consequences of its actions with the aim of making it reconsider the current path it's on. By decree of Iran we redirect your forces against the Turkish agression and give your forces full permission to hinder, blockade and attack the Turkish establishments in the occupied zone.
Your forces will be deployed to Darat Izza, Anadan and Al Bab in order to set forth the liberation of Syria. Additional munition will be delivered as well as extra short ranged missiles, anti-tank missiles, MANPADS and reconnaissance drones.

May your battles lead you to victory or heaven.

Signed, Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of the IRGC

Zhongnanhai - Beijing, China

Xi Jinping looked out onto the streets of Beijing, filled with celebrations welcoming in the new year. In several hours as the new year had begun, he was to give a speech in front of the National People's Congress over the situation over the past year, and the plan for the new one. With the closing of 2023, a certain weight had been lifted off of Xi's shoulders. He had broken the status quo of two five year terms and had gotten past the tumultuous first year of a new regularity without much of a hitch. Though he understood that the term ahead of him would be one of the most challenging he's faced. The axis of the world had been changing for years now, and all eyes were on the People's Republic of China. He turned to face the team of Chinese state media which had been setting up their equipment for his New Year speech.

Image
"Comrades, friends, ladies and gentlemen,

The year 2024 is arriving. From China's capital Beijing, I would like to extend my New Year wishes to you all!

In 2013, we sweated and we toiled as we pressed ahead with concrete efforts for achievements. Thanks to our steady pursuit of high-quality development, China's GDP is expected to edge close to 150 trillion yuan with the per capita figure reaching the level of 15,000 U.S. dollars. In 2023 alone, our People's Republic has uplifted tens of millions out of poverty and into a comfortable middle-class lifestyle.

Over the past year, I have visited many places. Construction of Xiong'an New Area is progressing, Tianjin Port is booming, Beijing's sub-center is thriving, grasslands in Inner Mongolia are splendid, the Hexi Corridor, after thousands of years, is teeming with new life. The winding Yellow River, where the sky is high and waters are wide, sometimes turbulent, sometimes calm; on both banks of the Huangpu River, there is plenty and prosperity, and ribbons of light shine in the night. Everything is flourishing across our motherland. I traced the routes of China's revolution to strengthen my original aspiration. From Yudu in Jiangxi Province where the Red Army gathered for their Long March, to the Revolution Museum in Xinxian County in Henan Province, the former capital of the Hubei-Henan-Anhui revolutionary base, from the Monument to the West Route Army in Gaotai, Gansu Province, to the revolutionary memorial site in the Fragrant Hills in Beijing, all these places aroused many feelings and thoughts in my mind. Our original aspiration and mission are our inexhaustible source of motivation during our Long March of the new era. As usual, no matter how busy I was, I spent time visiting people in the countryside. People shared many of their innermost thoughts with me, and I always keep them in mind. I have also received letters from villagers of the Dulong ethnic group in Gongshan, Yunnan Province; residents of Xiadang township, Shouning County in Fujian Province; soldiers of the Wang Jie Squad; the graduate students of the Class of 2023 at Tsinghua University; and children and senior volunteers from Macao. In my reply letters, I applauded the achievements they had made and sent my best wishes.

We have continued to outreach our kind hand abroad by investing all across the world, from Cambodia to Angola, using our funds to lift them out of poverty with the same vigor we lifted ourselves up with.. We have also made history in cooperation with our partners in the European Union by launching the first satellite designed to study the solar magnetosphere. This all in our goal to establish a kinder world of mutual cooperation and global prosperity.

2024 will be a year of milestone significance. Hifu International Conference Hall - Chongqing, China

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang stood in the city of Chongqing flanked by several officials from Chinese corporations, waiting for the Bangladeshi delegation. To his left stood Zhou Niaxiang, chairman of China State Construction Engineering, a state-owned corporation covering most of China's foreign construction projects. To his right, Ding Xuedong, chairman of China International Capital Corporation Limited, one of China's leading investment firms engaging in investment management and financial security.

The 777's wheels begin to tread on the runway as the plane slowly decrease's its flare and the front wheel touches down. The airplane comes to a complete stop on the runway before taxiing off to its parking spot where a set of Jetstairs awaits the aircraft. Bangladeshi Prime Minister Nazmul Hassan Pappon descended the stairs, as he reached the ground he bowed his head in an act of respect towards the Chinese delegation.

Li stepped forward and shook Nazmul's hand, a few reporters taking pictures of the two before being lead into the conference hall, "A smooth flight, I hope."

"Nothing too rough, if there's one thing Americans can do besides get fat its building planes."

"And destroying the stability of foreign nations," Li jokes.

Pappon lets out a small laugh, "Yes of course." He is flanked on both sides; on his left is Minister of Foreign Relations Masud Bin Momen (A former ambassador to the UN), and Minister of the Exchequer Suman Gosh (a former teacher and film director); to his right is Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Nazmul Quaunine, and Minister of Industry and Energy Faizul Latif Chowdhury.

They walk into the conference room, positioned in the left wing of Chongqing's Great Hall of the People, one of the most significant marvels of Chinese architecture in Central China. After both parties take their respective seats, Li speaks, "Welcome to China, my friend, I believe we should call this conference to session. So, Mr. Pappon, what is your proposal?"

"Well," started Pappon "the Bangladeshi state has seen significant growth in the past two decades, our economy has grown from a GDP of 250 Million in 2017 to nearly 380 Million Dollars this year. If we hope to continue our growth we will require a further foreign investment aimed at improving the safety and security of our core regions. This of course is referencing our plan to construct a series of Dams, Levees, Dykes, Sluices, and Irrigation systems in order to curb the rate of flooding and water damage to much of Bangladesh."

Ding speaks up, "Is there a framework for the proposed cost?"

"Lower estimates would place the project at 35 Billion, however we project as high as 40 Billion with budget overruns and other potential issues in mind. Our proposal for the Chinese is a 10 Billion Dollar loan, as well as aiding Bangladeshi engineers with designs."

"How does Bangladesh plan to fund the other 30 billion?"

“Some will come from the national budget, much will be indebted to Bangladeshi banks and citizens through Bonds and Internal Loans, the remainder will be spread among a diverse range of foreign loaners."

Zhou speaks, "Have you brought with you established documentation for the project and the planned execution? I would like to look over the contents so I can gauge its feasibility."

Faizul responded, “Yes of course” before unfurling a large document and flipping to a page with the Bangladeshi Delta system on it.
Image
He continues, “This map shows the flood prone areas of Bangladesh and how deep flooding in those areas is. To counteract this areas along rivers must be fitted with over flow ditches and solid flood barriers such as sectional and frame barriers. Then we also need to add proper drainage systems to much of the towns and cities prone to the flooding. We will also need to set up silt removal stations across the country to dredge rivers of the silt and debris on the bed. Finally we would like to look into the construction of several diversion power plants to help decrease water levels in the river to a stable point whilst provide much power for the country.”

"What of the possibility of land reclamation in the delta region. The Dutch have shown that with proper management and planning, a reclamation project can avoid ecological downsides. Several regions, such as Bagerhat, Satkhira, and the islands around the Bamni stream largely serve as secondary passes for the river. If the project was to be implemented in those regions, it would allow for the reclamation of large swaths of the Delta area."

"Such a plan would be possible but incredibly costly, and add little in the way of new farmland or forest area. Our plan also includes options for repaving streets with absorbent concrete and implementing flood warning systems. We would rather pursue those two projects than a project aimed at securing the land in a few deserted islands. Thus we would prefer to look into projects which are aimed at securing the industrial and population core of our nation, as currently cities such as Sylhet, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Madaripur, and even our capital Dhaka, face issues with flooding."

"Planning for land reclamation in those areas would be more than insignificant, especially to the bold initiative at the Bamni river. I estimate that if the project is moved up to damming the channels around Urirchar, the added cost would be minimal, below 10 million, while the benefits could improve the lives of at least 250,000 people through greater access to electricity and would counteract vast erosion seen in the Delta Area. The plan would not detract from further plans in the delta and could, in fact, could take the pressure off of or completely detract for the need for a levee on the eastern face of Char King."

"Hmmm... I suppose this argument does hold some merit, perhaps this amendment to the plan could be made. Something we do have a large interest in is exploiting the hydroelectric potential of our waterways. Of course we also wouldn't want to create any reservoirs which would increase flooding. Which is why we would be interested in projects to develop Tidal and Diversion power plants along the coastline and in rivers. Perhaps you have some input on this as well."

"Positioning them around Urirchar, Sona Char, and Kuakata would be essential into guaranteeing that revivors are safely handled, I concur. Though I'd like to ask what is proposed as far as the Sundarban National Park goes. While not ideal, it may be essential to implement Kalir Char and Dublar Char as zones excluded from the current arrangement so government construction of the necessary infrastructure can take place."

"Perhaps, but damage to the area should remain minimal, we can offset any criticism by planting coastal forests in the Chittagong region."

Li turns to Ding for a moment and they exchange whispers while the Bangladeshi ambassador and Zhou converse. After their conversation concludes, he speaks up, "I believe, as the current plan is designed, the People's Republic of China would be willing to grant a loan of ten billion USD, and we would be willing to finance an additional sum if other avenues don't cover the cost of the ambitious Delta Project. Assistance from China State Construction Engineering Corporation will also be provided, both in construction and in other aid to guarantee the project proceeds smoothly."

"If I may add a stipulation Mr. Li. We would prefer if much of the labor and jobs involved in the construction of the project be done by Bangladeshis. We would like to train our own workers and engineers with this project as well, so in the future we are not as much of a burden on allies such as yourself. If you would not mind leaving the labor to Bangladesh, all we would require from the China State Construction and Engineering Corporation is some advisors who will work in collaberation with Bangladeshi engineers to ensure the project is completed. If we can agree on this then I believe we have a deal."

Zhou speaks, "CSCEC usually holds around a 60% of Chinese workers on any given project. As of the moment, since we are only funding a section of the project in conjunction with other partners, presumably such as the Asian Investment Bank, I'd put forth that Chinese laborers sourced by CSCEC make up approximately ten to fifteen percent of the total workforce on the project. Signing a massive deal such as this which gives little labor benefits would be a difficult sell to the Chinese people and would make the project appear more as a handout than as a partnership. I believe that small percentage of the workforce, which would still be overwhelmingly sourced by Bangladeshi workers, is more than reasonable."

Faizul Latif Chowdhury spoke back "Yes, this is indeed quite reasonable. With an 85% Bangladeshi workforce we should still be able to provide a decent jump in our construction sector. Finally, to ensure this plan is put into motion I would like to suggest that the China State Construction and Engineering Corporation open an office in Dhaka, here you can have a solid connection, we shall provide a building near the ministry of Industry and Energy."

"I believe that to be a wonderful idea, if this is something we can agree to." Zhou looks towards Li, who sits contemplating for a few moments, waiting on the final word from China's second-in-command. After a few moments, Li stands and extends his hand across the table to the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, "I believe we've come to a fruitful arrangement on this partnership, Mr. Pappon."

Pappon looks to his ministers who all nod in agreement "Yes, I believe we have indeed." Pappon shakes the waiting hand of Li with a smile.

After the delegates exited the hall and took more pictures with journalists, they shook hands once more at the door to the hall. Afterwards, the Bangladeshi delegation was escorted to a limousine and driven back to their jet.

Seal of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

To: Whom it may concern in the government of the Federal Republic of Somalia and Puntland.
From: The Right Honourable Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Honourable Leader,

The situation in Somalia is extremely concerning to my government and the people of Britain. The terrorist group known as Al-Shabaab, which we believe to have been responsible for inspiring attacks within our nation in the past four years, is viewed as an imminent threat to our nation. We believe that this group must be defeated in it's home entirety in Somalia, for the good of both our people's.

It is for this purpose I am writing to you currently. I am requesting permission to have the Royal Navy set up a permanent base in your nation near the city of Alula to assist shipping traveling near the Horn of Africa from both Al-Shabaab amd pirate attacks. We also wish for you government to allow a detachment of the 22nd Special Air Service Regiment to operate within Somalia to both train your government's men as well as launch direct action missions to eliminate terrorist cells before they have a chance to strike. We are also offering a shipment of 20,000 SA80A2 rifles to help in arming up your military as well as standard equipment such as body armor, grenades, helmets and camouflage fatigues.

in terms of economics, we are willing to invest seven billion pounds into your nation's infrastructure over the next five years. In return we ask that British oil companies get access to Somalia natural gas reserves as we;; as British mining companies get access to Somalia's iron, coal and copper reserves. We hope that you consider this offer.

Sincerely,
Boris Johnson, Prime Minister

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea

Pyonyang, three days after the Vladivostok conference

The successful conference between President Vladimir Putin and the Supreme Leader of North Korea was still hanging in Kim's mind as he walked out to his familiar podium, the state-television cameras situated all around him, and the crowd gathered far beneath him all immediately turning to face him. Quickly finding the teleprompter located ahead of him, he nods to the centermost camerman, and begins his speech...

"Citizens of the most Glorious Democratic People's Republic of Korea. A few days ago, I had a meeting with our ally, President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, we discussed multiple measures to bring glory and prosperity to our glorious nation. This will bring our nation closer to our old friends in the Russian Federation, and will bring greater prosperity to the Korean people."

"Firstly, we will harvest the power of the atom, which we have already tamed for our weaponry, for the additional purpose of providing power for you, the citizens of our great nation. Secondly, while the concept of Juche, self-reliance, has long been proven sustainable by our glorious nation, by opening ourselves to Russian and Chinese investment, we may grow ourselves to greater levels of superiority over the Southerners. As such, we will be opening the Rason economic zone for further investment by Russian companies, and expanding the Russian-Korean Friendship Bridge. Thirdly, we will be, with the help of our Russian friends, be shifting from the Industrial economy of our near past, to one based of Modern technology. Us Koreans have already bested Western technology multiple times, we shall be able to easily bring ourselves up to the levels, and exceed that, of our Southern neighbors and the capitalists of Ameirca."

"However, this all does come at one request by the President Putin. Effective immediately, we will temporarily suspend further missile testing in the Sea of Japan, and slow our nuclear proliferation. While our nation is proud of our glorious Missile capability, rivalling our Eastern and Southern neighbors, we will cut back at the urging of President Putin. In exchange, he has also agreed to assist us in providing our military with more modern equipment."

"Finally, at the suggestion of my closest economic advisers, it has become clear to me that if we are to grow our industry in these ways, we will have to make our currency, the Korean People's Won, much more stable. As such, from this day forward, the Korean People's Won will be worth exactly One Onehundred Twenty-Fifth of a Chinese Yuan. By doing this, we make our glorious nation's economy much more stable, and allow the glorious Korean People's Won to be used abroad in Russia and China, our dearest allies. All of these moves together move us towards a more unified, stronger, and more prosperous Korea. Ever onwards, to a glorious future!"

With that, Kim began his journey from the stage. Thunderous applause rang out from the crowd, as did every speech the man had made for... over a decade now. Still, he sometimes had flashbacks to 2010, before he took control of the nation from his late father. Even since then, much had changed for the tiny hermit kingdom, yet much had stayed the same, as the nation struggled to pull itself free from years of stagnation. No longer, he hoped, with this deal with the Russian Federation, and hopefully similar meetings with the People's Republic of China in his future. As he entered the presidential palace, he gave a sigh of relief...

The Reconnaissance General Bureau, RGB

The television near the edge of the room finally shut off as Kim Jong-Un's speech ended, though not many of the people inside of the room seemed to take note. No, instead, they were working hard on their latest directive sent down by Kim Jong-Un himself- they were to steal information from the South on the five nuclear plants active in the country, including blueprints, operation, and any possible way to sabotage them. While these were the primary topics, they had a secondary objective of spying on all other power generation in their southern neighbors, in the case that this information may be useful in the future. In anticipation of this task, many of the computers within the office had been recently upgraded, with more modern equipment slated to come in as their partnerships with Russia and China deepened. They could only hope that their efforts would bear fruit, among the many efforts currently underway by the Koreans to break through American and others' encryption, and to ensure the Americans can't do the same to them...

The CPK when finished, the design finally approved in 2019 was submitted by Grimshaw Architects Inc.

Construction of the Central Port of Communication (CPK) officially begun when Prime Minister Morawiecki and the CPK Joint Stock Company's CEO Piotr Malepszak symbolically raised the first ground from the construction site with a shovel in front of flashing cameras in 2019. The CPK, Poland's first real Megaproject is a joint public-private enterprise expected to have cost a total of approximately 31 billion Zlotys (7.6 billion Dollars) after it has been finished by according to current estimates mid-2027 as opposed to late 2026 when first announced. As part of the PiS government's ambitious 2030 Infrastructure Plan, the project shall serve as a transfer hub between Warsaw and Lodz which will integrate air, rail and road transport. The CPK shall be located 37 km west of Warsaw and will be covering the space of 3000 hectares. After opening the airport will have four runways and will be able to handle an estimated 45 million passengers a year. The new airport is meant to replace both of Warsaw's current airports as well as Lodz's airport which will be closed in late 2028, allowing the land to be redeveloped.

The CPK Project is an integral node in the government's 2030 Plan, and thus includes significant railway investments with approximately 1300 kilometers of new tracks suited to high-speed rail travel being laid, and an equal amount refurbished and re-laid in order to be able to support the before mentioned high-speed trains. It is hoped that these connections will enable transfer times of no greater than 15 minutes from the CPK to Warsaw Central Station, no more than 25 minutes to Lodz Fabryczna Station and less than 2.5 hours to any major city in Poland such as for example Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan and Tricity-Gdansk. When taking into account the road and rail construction linked to the project, the investment will according to estimates have provided employment for between 100 000 and 150 000 people before the end of it's construction phase. In conjunction, there are also plans to construct an "Airport City" near to the CPK which would include housing, hotels, office spaces, conference centers and public service points near to the new megaproject.

In addition to the CPK, other major investments have been made as well and are closer to being finished. The Via Carpathia Initiative turned from theoretical initiative to practical action in 2017, the goal of which was to build a highway leading from Kaunas in Lithuania to Thessaloniki in Greece. The project dates back all the way to the Lancut Declaration of 2006 and in 2018 representatives from Poland, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia signed the documents on the joint project and after Greek, Hungarian and Bulgarian signatures came in the next year, the Via Carpathia was given the green light. For a long time, Warsaw has been looking for opportunities to boost regional cooperation and with it's neighbors and increase the economic ties between Eastern European EU nations. Indeed, Poland is deeply involved in the crafting of policies directed at developing the Carpathian macroregion, including initiatives aiming at improvement of communication on the north-south axis. In Poland, the local branch of the Via Carpathia Highway will form the spine of the highway network in eastern Poland, going through several of the regions where the state of the transport infrastructure is most lacking and opening the region to new markets, allowing easier transport of goods both to local and foreign markets.

Projected to be completed in 2025, the potential of Via Carpathia may soon benefit many transport routes both within and outside the EU. Ideas have been floated for the roads to branch out to the Balkans and to Ukraine and the Polish Baltic Sea harbors of Tricity-Gdansk and the Adriatic Sea through Croatia. Some have even pitched the idea of connecting Belarus and Turkey. “The main goal is to change the perception of the Carpathians, today seen as a peripheral macroregion. The Carpathians connect different regions and countries on many levels, geographic, cultural, natural, historical, touristic and many others. All you need is these scattered pieces to organize and thus create a platform for cooperation and growth which is the goal of the Carpathian Strategy which we develop with our regional partners and allies.” Said Polish Minister of Investment and Development Jerzy Kwiecinski. The Via Carpathia is intended to help incorporate these less developed regions of Europe to the mainstream trade network and unlock their growth potential. It will hopefully open this part of Europe to new markets allowing for the placing of transport terminals and logistic centers in Via Carpathia states and allow new companies to emerge along the route, creating investment opportunities and jobs.

British-Polish Summit

After the British government's British Aerospace 146 jet touched down in Fryderyk Chopin International Airport in Warsaw, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his staff were brought through the city streets in a caravan of black limousines flanked by police on motorbikes. The motorcade finally came to a halt outside the Presidential Palace where Polish President Kaczynski stood at the end of the red carpet that had been laid out to welcome to British PM. As Boris Johnson exited the limousine and made his way down the red carpet, a Polish military orchestra played God Save the King later followed by Poland is Not Yet Lost. After the customary handshakes in front of the assembled press had been completed, President Kaczynski invited Prime Minister Johnson inside, entering a room, the President made a polite gesture to the baroque armchairs that stood in front of an opulently decorated fireplace and sat down. "Finally, we can speak between the two of us." Kaczynski said politely. "I am glad you were able to come here on such short notice, mister Prime Minister. We have alot to discuss, but first, would you like something to drink? Water? Cognac, or whiskey perhaps?"

“I would just take water, I prefer to make my diplomatic agreements with a sober mind.” Boris joked. “The drinking comes after.” He chuckled. “What is the first thing you would like to discuss Mister President?”

The Polish President chuckled. "I can see the wisdom in that." He said and on queue, an aide came and served the British PM a glass of water and the President a glass of cognac. "Well, first of all I would hope that we can discuss measures on trade and investment. We would like to ease the transfer of goods and services by reducing the amount of paperwork and various tariffs. I would say a maximum of 5% tariffs for non-strategic goods and 10% for strategic, does that sound acceptable? Also, I hope we can reach an agreement on how to attract British companies to invest in Poland, I'd be glad to see firms such as Lloyd's Group, Aviva and Barclays investing in the new IBC being raised in Warsaw and mining companies such as the Rio Tinto Group setting up shop in the Katowice Center. Would a special tax plan be amenable to make that more likely?" Kaczynski asked.

“Of course, I fully support making trade easier. The whole point of Brexit was so that we could make our own trade agreements. But I propose even lower tariffs, perhaps 3% for non-strategic and 7% for strategic? I would approve the tax plan to get businesses to move into Poland as well.”

"Indeed..." Kaczynski said and sighed. "We are still bound by the EU's regulations so we will need to take that into account when our negotiation teams draw up the final lists of goods to be included, but I agree that we should strive for as low a tariff as possible." He then turned his attention to the next item they had been discussing. "I thing a five year tax-holiday would be quite beneficial, yes? British companies that invest will be able to enjoy a 6% lower corporate tax for five years if they agree to run the operation in Poland for a minimum of 10 years. How does that sound mister Prime Minister?"

“That sounds good. I think it will be beneficial for them to have five years to fully set themselves up in Poland. The most important thing here I wanted to discuss though was the sale of military equipment, specifically ships. As you may know we have 13 Type 23 frigates that we plan to phase out in favor of the Type 26 and Type 31. We have two 23’s already decommissioned, the HMS Argyll and the HMS Lancaster, and will decommission the other 11 over the next eleven years, one per year. We also have five Trafalgar-Class submarines decommissioned and ready to sell. We believe it would be beneficial for Poland to invest in the acquisition of new naval vessels to combat Russian aggression in the Baltic Sea.”

President Kaczynski leaned back in his chair, brow furrowed in thought. Poland recently decommissioned it's two Oliver Hazard Perry-Class Frigates, planning to replace them with locally developed and produced Gawron-Class corvettes, however, it took until 2020 until the first corvette, the ORP Slazak finished in 2015 was actually fully armed and equipped with the planned arms and equipment to make it fully combat effective with the second fully equipped ship of the class entering service in 2022. "It's an interesting offer, I might take you up on it depending on what prices you are willing to agree upon. They might to a good complement to our corvettes for the coming two decades or so. On the topic of submarines I am quite interested, as the Polish Navy currently only operates three, two of whom were built in the late 1960's." The President said and took a sip of his cognac. "Tell me, how much would the cost be per vessel? We'll speak of additional costs later, I just want a general run-down first." President Kaczynski said and looked toward Prime Minister Johnson.

“The original cost of the Type 23 was roughly 130 million euros, so we would be willing to sell at the discounted price of 100 million euros. Additionally, the Trafalgar-Class subs were originally 200 million euros, so we would be willing to do 150 million per submarine. “

"That does sound quite acceptable, indeed very good." The Polish President said with a curt smile and nod. "My government could be quite interested in signing a deal for two frigates and one submarine for starters, with the option for another two frigates and two submarines later." Kaczynski leaned forward. "Though, when we add the blueprints, technological spec transfer and training program for Polish crews, especially regarding the operation and maintenance of reactors of the Trafalgar-class I suppose there will be a one-time sum associated with that, 300 million perhaps?"

“300 million sounds fair.” Boris took another sip of his water. He was pleased with how well the meeting was going.

The President nodded. "Very well. I'm glad we've reached an agreement on that. However..." He added. "In that case we would also like to purchase a batch of ammunition for the ships in question. Currently that would amount to 128 CAMM SeaCeptor missiles for 260 million and 64 Harpoon ASM's for 96 million and 24 Tomahawk IV's for 45 million. We may make further orders if we decide on ordering more of the same ships. Does that seem acceptable regarding price?"

“Yes, sounds very good. It'll be a total of 1.05 billion for the ships, training, ammunition and technological transfer.”

"Perfect." The President said with a satisfied nod. "Before we finish up the meeting and go make another handshake-show for the press, I hope that we can draft an agreement on closer cooperation between our intelligence agencies. I am certain that joint training programs and deeper cooperation in the fields of foreign intelligence gathering and intelligence sharing between the AW and the MI6 will strengthen CESDOT in the East."

“Of course. I was thinking perhaps MI6 could open up an HQ in Bialystok to help increase our potential to watch Russian movement to the East. Also, since the United States has mostly abandoned Europe militarily, perhaps it is possible that British Private Military Companies such as AEGIS and International Intelligence to set up in Poland to help train Polish troops now that the US is no longer here to assist in that function.”

The Polish President sat silent in thought for a moment. "An MI6 safehouse in Bialystok could be arranged, we'll have to be careful and try to keep the scale of the operation away from the Russian SVR for as long as possible, and scale it accordingly depending on their response. We could use existing MI6 and AW facilities in Britain and Poland respectively to host joint training exercises and to share knowledge." Kaczynski took a deep breath. "I am unsure, we can open to AEGIS investment and hold a six-month training program with the possibility to extend the deal if the results are satisfactory."

“AEGIS is a trustworthy company." Boris Johnson replied. "They have consistently supported democratic interests in the Middle East, I’m certain they would do the same in Poland. Is there anything else you would like to discuss?”

"Yes, only one thing. I wonder if British universities and perhaps pharmaceutical companies would be interested in participating in the Reproductive Health Research Institute that we are opening as a research branch of the Jagiellonski University in Krakow. The Institute is meant to research reproductive health and fertility, which is an issue creeping in under the radar in the industrialized world. By some estimates, one in four couples trying for a baby in Europe will face significant issues in conception due to reproductive health issues by 2030, and now we are leaving out North America and parts of East Asia. Needless to say, reproductive health will be an increasingly significant issue in the near future and effective treatments will be a significant source of income. Would Britain be willing to participate in the project?"

“Yes, insuring that our people are free to conceive children when they wish is extremely important to us. Especially now that we have cut down heavily on immigration, we’re going to rely on new children being born to continue to grow our population.”

"I'm glad you see the sense in it." The Polish President said with a nod. "It's a better idea to try gather knowledge and find potential solutions and treatments while the issue is still just an issue and not a crisis. I hope renowned British universities like Oxford and Cambridge will be interested in participating." Kaczynski said and finished his cognac with a swig. "So, Mister Prime Minister, if there is nothing else, let's go smile for the cameras and give our negotiation teams an opportunity to earn their wages." The Polish President said with a smile.

“Yes, it was a pleasure having this meeting with you, Mr. President.” Boris said with a smile as he rose from his chair and smoothed out the creases of his suit.

"It's always a pleasure to host you here in Warsaw, Prime Minister Johnson." President Kaczynski said warmly. "I wish you all the good luck and fortune in the upcoming election. Come on, let's go shake hands in front of the cameras."

East African Leaders Finalize Federation
by Chen Dickey

Electoral map for East African presidential elections

The agreement made in Arusha, arranging for the creation of a new federation of states, had a very contentious issue attached: elections. How would elections work in such a politically and cultural diverse country? While larger member states like Kenya and Tanzania had roughly the same voting population, Uganda was a little behind, and Rwanda and Burundi would have a pitifully small amount of influence amongst voters. Tanzania and to an extent Kenya were both in favor of having a simple direct democracy for electing a president, as it would “uphold majority rule” and more importantly, mean that they could dominante politics while ignoring smaller member states. Rwanda and Burundi wanted each member state to have one vote: meaning equality on a national level, but disproportionate influence amongst the member states. Ultimately, it was a plan proposed by Ugandan representatives which ended up being adopted: copy the USA. The EAF would have an electoral college to choose the president, a Congress with each member state having two delegates, and a House of Representatives with representatives set for one per every million people in each state as of the 2024 census. Elections were to be arranged for June of 2024, and three major groups had risen to prominence in the months before then.

The first coalition to form was the Swahili Nation coalition, a group of parties in favor of further political and cultural integration amongst the member states of the EAF. The Swahili Nation, as its name suggests, is most popular in the regions of the EAF with heavy Swahili influence, such as on the coast, but also in major cities in the interior where it is a lingua franca. Though still very tribally influenced, it wants tribalism to become less relevant in national politics, in favor of a unified, Swahili identity. It is rather disunited as far as economic policies go, but supports a more careful management of debt and foreign investments. Its two major components are Tanzania’s ruling Party of the Revolution, and Kenya’s Jubilee Party, which are centre left and right wing respectively. It is also popular amongst the Ugandan opposition, some of the minor parties in Rwanda’s former ruling coalition, but almost non-existent in Burundi due to it shunning the Hutu Power movement. They have nominated Kipchumba Murkomen, former Kenyan senator, as their presidential candidate.

The second coalition is the East African People’s coalition, a group of parties in favor of a weaker union and the embracement of tribalism within the EAF. It does not want the EAF to be dissolved, as most of its member parties consented to the union, as they find being part of a larger country to be much more beneficial in terms of economics and security. However, they oppose the idea that the East African identity trumps that of national and tribal identity, and wish for the EAF’s central government to be inferior to that of its states. It believes that tribal groups and small kingdoms within the EAF, for example, the Kingdom of Bugunda in Uganda, should have special status and that cultural diversity should be preserved. They are afraid of the EAF becoming a cultural mixing pot, and Burundi especially fears the erasure of its Hutu identity. In general, it supports a strong government heavily involved in development in the economy, but not involved in the affairs of member states. Its major components are the National Resistance Movement of Uganda, the National Popular Front of Rwanda, and the National Council for the Defense of Democracy in Burundi. Some minor opposition groups within Kenya and Tanzania are supportive of this coalition. They have nominated Dr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, former Justice of the East African Court, as their presidential candidate.

The last coalition to have formed, and the most recent, is the Young Africa Coalition. It is the most disunited and chaotic of the three major coalitions, which is saying a lot about considering the state of African politics. The Chinese lease of Mombassa’s port and the rise of the Young Africa movement abroad has made many younger Africans distasteful of their ruling elite, which has grown corrupt and too heavily influenced by foreign powers. The Young Africa Coalition opposes all foreign influence in Africa as a whole, ranging from Francafrique to Chinese debt traps, and wishes for Africa to become self-reliant and prosperous without foreign aid. Its biggest weakness is that, while unified by a desire for democracy and an opposition to neo-colonialism, its member parties share nothing else in common. These parties range from Pan-Africanists who want a single, unified African state to tribal separatists who wish to erase European borders and establish tribal homelands. Though unlikely to win any national elections, they have massive support amongst the city dwelling youth and have led numerous large protests across the country. They have nominated John Mbadi, former chairman of Kenya’s Orange Democratic Movement party, as their presidential candidate.

NBC- The Democratic Party was thrown into a mad scramble early today, as presumed candidate Dean Hampton announced that he would not be seeking a second term. NBC reporters tried to ask for reasoning, but as of yet there has been no official response from the White House. Hampton, though controversial in his foreign policy decision making, has seen steady ratings through his presidential career, especially among latino voters, owing to his investment in Puerto Rico and his openness to the community. It is anyone's guess who will replace him.

Meanwhile, the race for the Republican nomination has expanded to include two more candidates, with Ted Cruz and Lynne Cheney joining Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Matt Gaetz, and Josh Hawley in the running. Cheney spoke briefly with NBC correspondents, telling us that her primary reason for running is to “restore fiscal responsibility to Washington.” She is also expected to reach out to the LGBT community for support, though no statement has been made by her campaign as of yet to what Cheney intends to do to garner this support.

Current Members of the UNSC: People's Republic of China French Republic United States of America United Kingdom of Great Britain Russian Federation; Papua New Guinea, Islamic Republic of Iran, Morocco, Eritrea, Guinea-Bissau, Australia, Ireland, Bahamas, Colombia, Romania Invited: Syria, The Chinese ambassador to the United Nations Security Council, Cao Jianming, had taken the position as standing President of the Security Council for the Month of April. He sat in his seat for several quiet moments, waiting until the shuffling from the other representatives had ceased and the transcribers had been readied before leaning into his microphone and beginning the session. "The 9766th meeting of the Security Council is called to order. The provisional agenda for this order is the Turkish Occupation Strip. The agenda is adopted. In accordance with rule 37 of the Council’s provisional rules of procedure, I invite the representatives of the Syrian Arab Republic and Republic of Turkey to participate in this meeting. The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. I wish to draw the attention of Council members to document S/2024/142, which contains a resolution on the Turkish border strip submitted by the Syrian Arab Republic. I shall now give the floor to those members of the Council who wish to make statements preceding the vote on the resolution."(edited)
Withdrawal of Turkish troops from Northern Syria

Recognizing the eight year presence of Turkish troops on Syrian soil
Understanding the precarious domestic situation in the Syrian Arab Republic
Realizing that only though discussion and negotiation can peace be achieved in the Middle East
Recognizing the role the United Nations has played in instilling peace in the Syrian Arab Republic and bringing an end to the brutal civil war
Pushes forth a resolution to the United Nations Security Council to call for action against the Republic of Turkey for the illegal annexation of Northern Syria based on the following arguments:

a) The United Nations Security Council recognizes the borders of the Syrian Arab Republic to include the temporary Turkish Authority Zone in Northern Syria
b) It is the firm contention of the Syrian Arab Republic that the elimination of President Anas al-Abdah and his executive cabinet was not done by the Syrian Arab Armed Forces, and the only possibility was that an unaffiliated and unconnected foreign actor, state or nonstate, was responsible
c) It is the policy of President Bashar al-Assad that the reunification of Syria can and will only be achieved through peaceful negotiation and diplomacy rather than open or covert conflict
d) The borders of the Syrian Arab Republic are recognized internationally and with respect to the dispute in the Golan Heights, it is understood that the "Turkish Authority Zone" is legally a part of the internationally recognized borders of the Syrian Arab Republic, and all claims otherwise is a affront to and rejection of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic
e) The Syrian Arab Republic did not grant permission or authorize the Government of the Republic of Turkey to enter their sovereign national territory
f) The actions of the Republic of Turkey are illegal and a violation of the territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, in violation of Article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations

Islamic Republic of Iran
The Islamic Republic of Iran stands with the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic as per international law. It urges the Republic of Turkey to withdraw all of its forces from the Syrian Arab Republic at once and to return to diplomacy as a way forward. The Islamic Republic of Iran furthermore calls for a UN investigation into the assassinations.
United Kingdom of Great Britain
The United Kingdom condemns the actions of Turkey as irresponsible and senseless. We see no way in which their annexation benefits the situation or complied with international law. We urge President Erdogan to withdraw his declaration as well as his forces from the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.
French Republic
The aging François Delattre read the resolution carefully, setting his glasses down soon after. "Turkish Aggression has reared its ugly head today. They stand to create a new crisis, regarding refugees, if their incursions against Syria are not stopped. Therefore, it is clear that this resolution must be passed before we are pressed into action later. France supports the resolution and condemns President Erdogan for his almost neo Ottoman pursuits of foreign affairs and push for him to, quite simply, stay out of the Middle East."
Russian Federation
"The Republic of Turkey has violated the territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic led by its lawful President Bashar Al-Assad. Annexing the current Occupation Zone has only proved their willingness to continually threaten the fragile stability of the Middle East. The Russian Federation has already moved to condemn the Republic of Turkey and moving military forces into the nation of Syria to protect it from hostile invasion, we support the resolution and believe that only a diplomatic resolution to the situation can truly bring peace to the region."
Turkey
"This resolution is an outrage, and nothing more than an attack on Turkish sovereignty. Turkey has tried to use peaceful, diplomatic means to bring stability to its neighboring regions, yet we have been received with nothing but hostility and double standards. The Kurdish terrorists have forced hundreds of thousands of Turkmens and Arabs from their homes in an attempt to Kurdify the region they call "Rojava", and were it not for us they would have completely wiped out non-Kurdish minorities in a brutal genocide. We were, and still are, protecting the people of the former Syrian territory from the terror of the Assad regime and the Kurdish terrorists he backs," The Turkish representative said.
Republic of India
"Such incursions within our borders are illegal and a violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic. There is no evidence provided by the Turkish government suggesting that the Government of Bashar al-Assad is engaging in acts of terror in collusion with Kurdish organizations, and there is especially zero evidence suggesting that President Assad is engaging in these horrendous activities against his people. The Turkish government is using the false veneer of combating non-existent terrorism to justify it's illegal expedition and annexation of sovereign Syrian soil" the Syrian representative said.(edited)
Turkey
"There is evidence enough, but your Alawite mind is too shallow to comprehend it. The Turkish provinces of Afrin and Kobane are integral parts of the Republic of Turkey, which have been reunited with the Turkish state after being separated from us by the French, like Hatay. Though we wished to settle this diplomatically, you and the Kurdish terrorists you support would have committed genocide, were it not for our integration of the region back with who it belongs."
United Kingdom of Great Britain
“There is no need for petty insults. Afrin and Kobane are internationally recognized as territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey has no claim to these lands. If there is such evidence, where is your proof that President Assad is responsible for the killings?”
Russian Federation
"So you admit that the Republic of Turkey has hostile ambitions to take over the territory that is internationally recognized as Syrian? You also announced that the Kurdish have pushed out many Turkmen and Arabs despite evidence showing that many Arabs have joined what was once the Syrian Democratic Forces who have supported destroying the once rogue Islamic State and the eventual ISIS insurgency. Which then unified with the Syrian Government after the Turkish intervention which has killed thousands and displaced many hundreds of thousands. Along with the lack of proof being shown by your nation."
Turkey
"I find it unfortunate that the U.K., after decades of being a helpful ally, has turned its back on us. When we intervened to protect the Turkish Cypriots, we allowed the British to keep their military bases in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Likewise, we supported them fully during the Falklands War, even when numerous nations, and even the UN, recognized the Falklands as Argentinian. All of this assistance for nothing, and what has Syria given you? They a shithole country in the middle of the desert. They have refused to allow the West to rebuild them, and have been hostile towards CESDOT, which even now the once mighty British Empire bows to," The Turkish representative noted, glaring at the British representative, "We have no hostile intention, and did not take over territory being administered by the illegitimate government now sitting in Damascus. The territory was already being occupied and run by the legitimate Syrian government of Azaz, and in a time of crisis their people agreed to rejoin with the Turkish motherland. There is plenty of proof of Assad's terroristic actions, I myself was at the funeral of the now-deceased true Syrian president who was called by him. If we are to discuss anything, it is that Assad must go!"
United Kingdom of Great Britain
“You speak of assisting us in history, but what of the thousands of British lives lost to the Ottomans in the Great War, the Empire whose borders you are trying to rebuild. At the same time, that Empire was carrying out a systemic genocide of over a million Armenians. Even today the government of Turkey seeks to commit further horrors against the Kurdish people of Northern Syria during their illegal occupation. We do not condone the actions of the Assad regime, but Turkey’s brutish entrance into this situation has done nothing but complicate things. Turkey must withdraw from Syria and allow the UN to deal with the situation between the Syrian government and Rojava. We volunteer the MI6 to assist in a full UN investigation into this situation.”
Republic of India
"We ask that the Turkish government refrain from such unprofessional language in these discussions, as it is the intention of the Syrian Arab Republic to resolve this crisis through peace"
French Republic
"If the Turkish Representatives only mean to deter our ruling is insults and unsubstantiated claims then we should end this meeting here and now."
United States of America
"The U.S recommends neither party act in haste. The will of a people must be taken into account, as it was in Crimea, for those areas that Turkey claims newfound ownership over. The U.S will neither condemn nor support the actions of the Turkish Government, it will however urge that this meeting is taken as a way to discuss these matters with a degree of decorum, and not as a platform for both parties to hurl insults across the aisle."
United States of America
"The U.S would further like to recommend that alternatively, a plebiscite be held in Turkish controlled territories, in order to ensure the respect of the will of the peoples therein, self determination being a right this body has championed."
Turkey
"We respect the US for their non-biased approach on the situation, and their respect for the desire of the people within the Turkish provinces of Afrin and Kobane. Should this resolution fail, through vote or through veto, we would happily hold a referendum to show the dedication of the local people to the Turkish nation."
Republic of India
"The inaction of the United States in regards to the violation of Syrian sovereignty by the Turkish government is a disappointing development of events"
United Kingdom of Great Britain
“If a referendum is to be held, it would need to be held by UN personnel and closely watched to ensure the vote is truly fair and representative of the will of the people of Rojava, not the will of President Edrogan.”
Turkey
"This has nothing to do with the administration of North and East Syria, the region in question has no ties to them whatsoever."
Russian Federation
"There shouldn't be a referendum in the first place, these areas are rightfully Syrian Arab territory. Which Turkey is unrightfully annexing, these are lands of the people of Syria, not Turkey."
Republic of India
"A referendum would implicitly endorse the Turkish conquest of Northern Syria, and would spit on decades of international law"
United States of America
"The US asserts that given the precedence of the Crimean referendum and subsequent annexation of that region by Russia, a referendum should likewise be held in the regions disputed by Turkey and Syria. Article 15 of of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that all have the right to a nationality, and that none should be denied the right to change nationality. The US simply states that the peoples of the disputed lands be given this right, and that it is our responsibility to affirm this right."
United Kingdom of Great Britain
“We do agree a referendum must be held but it must be explicitly run by the UN to ensure a truly fair vote.”
Russian Federation
"Russia believes that the current resolution will be enough to bring peace to the region."
Republic of India
"If that is the assertion of the United States, we ask that they consider hosting a referendum in the American colony of Puerto Rico as well. The American assertion is unrealistic and will only breed more conflict"
Turkey
"Turkey would be willing to have a referendum supervised by the UN, but managed by Turkey, so long as this resolution does not come to pass."
Republic of India
"The Syrian Arab Republic does not consent to Turkish management of any UN operation within the borders of Syria"
United States of America
"The US requests that Syria refrain from referring to Puerto Rico, a territory that has seen considerable investment by the current government to prepare it for further integration into the US, as a colony. To do so show only serves to deflect and demean the current issue at hand, that being the need for this council to recognize the human rights of the peoples living in the disputed regions."
French Republic
"Turkey must not come to manage the referendum, despite there being no need for one. If a referendum is required, than let it be done by a neutral party. The Swiss or Belgians are always available. But neither Turkey nor Syria must manage a referendum."
Turkey
"If that is the case, we would request the Americans oversee the referendum. If they were to veto this bill, we would consent to American oversight of a referrendum in the disputed region."
French Republic
"During this time neither side shall not be allowed to occupy the region as to avoid potential show of force."
"The Americans who abandoned their allies to hide in their cave? No. Their willingness to even give President Erdogan breathing room speaks enough for itself. The Swiss are neither part of the EU nor have they ever broken an oath. I'd sooner have China manage it than the US, in all due respect."
Russian Federation
"We urge the current President of the Security Council to push onto the voting, instead of sitting in this back and forth talks."
People's Republic of China
"I would like to pose a question to the Turkish representative," Jianming spoke, "During the initial intervention in the Syrian Civil War and subsequent occupation of the region, it was posed as a temporary solution to the problem of Syrian instability in order to protect the Turkish core from a surge of violence and strife. I will grant that the Syrian Arab Republic is a nation still aching from the throws of its civil war, though the Assad government has done much to secure its place and to quell any dissent. Why, now of all times, would the best decision forward be the integration of the region? If the intent is peace, why threaten to destabilize the region with such a bold and offensive move?"

Turkey
"We are doing what is best for the stability for the region, by integrating a region which wishes to be Turkish instead of allowing Assadist influence, such as the terrorist attack on the government, to continue to destabilize what is now the Turkish provinces of Afrin and Kobane."
French Republic
"You have no evidence to show that the region wishes to even join Turkey."
Russian Federation
"Again, this is after an attack on the local Government which...by you...is supposedly made by supporters of the legitimate Syrian Government? All I've seen is a wish to reunify with the true nation of Syria if somehow these claims were true. But we've yet to see what had come of these unknown members who killed off the Government of the Occupation Zone."
United States of America
"The US would like to once again assert that the self determination of the peoples of the disputed territories must be considered if any resolution is to pass."
People's Republic of China
*"I believe the time has come to vote on resolution S/2024/142 in demanding the removal of the Republic of Turkey, and any force associated with such, by September and the entrance of Syrian troops to assure a peaceful transfer of authority."
