I have to be honest, the last time I flew to the US I was a bit irked about having to pay 14 bucks and spend 10 minutes on my laptop when the time before I didn't have to. It's just a silly annoyance.

If it makes you feel better I'm sure a fair amount of Americans will have the same problem now.

Before the US brought in their system it was just a little card you filled in on the plane. This is just tit for tat.

Speaking of, let me know if you are ever around Berlin, we can get a beer I might even entice Laerod to join.

You're not wrong, the worst customs experiences I've ever had have been US customs, and I'm a US citizen.

US Customs is such a pain in the ass. Every time I traveled to Europe I didn't get asked anything except for "how long are you staying?" But going back to America, it's always something. And I don't even mind answering the stupid questions but they can be real assholes. Last time my wife and I went to America together he was just asking us stuff and she answered one question and I answered the next and he rudely said "Which one of your is going to answer the questions then?" I don't know, why don't you say who you would prefer to answer your questions?
I also once had a genius who was scrutinizing my prescription medication and he asked "did you get this in Germany?" The bottle said Walgreens and it was in English and there was a Florida address on it.

Then you've never traveled in from Canada.
