From: Office of the Premier, Greater Montréal Region, New Québec.
Sent: December 1, xxxx.
To: Addressed to the public.
Warmest regards, our friends of the international community.

It is well-known fact that the Quebecois love their culture, language, history, and tradition, but the nation and its people also understand that it is important to not be lost in the past when the world moves ever-forward in time. Our fine-taste and love for high-society living dates back to our historic roots with the Second Empire lifestyle under Napoleon III.

For the centuries of our existence, from New-France through Provincehood, and continued into the New State, us Quebecois have hosted annual Christmas festivals to celebrate the birth of our King, and the New Years. These festivals were hosted in the traditional Crystal Palace exhibition hall before an unfortunate fire forced us to relocate to various performance centres throughout the state. This sparked the development and evolution of our yearly festivities into a general Winter-Fest, with a tamed religious element; more open and accepting of the various cultures of our beautiful country.

This year, planned since February of the same, our annual Bal Noël De Montréal, or in English, The Montreal Winter Ball, will be hosted in our refurbished National Assembly and Town Hall of the Old Montreal Region, with grand spectacles of entertainment and beautiful architecture to truly exemplify and capture the cultural and artistic integrity of Quebec.

Consider this our formal invitation to you. Our historic festival dating back to 1534 which has previously been a strictly Quebecois event is now open to the sophisticated and royals of the world. Accommodation will be plentiful, and our hospitality boundless.

We hope to see you in Montreal. The beautiful city awaits.

~ Premier of New Québec, Reverend Cédric Lésage.

The Montreal Winter Festival
Montreal City Hall, South-Eastern Main Gate
December 4, 2019 - Early Morning

As a delicate snowfall blankets the torchlit city of Montreal, brightened by the traditional gas lamps that still had to be lit by hand, the city of light has truly found a successor in the form of a certain North American counterpart. Though the city was by no means crowded as of yet, It's petite cobblestone streets ensured that the passing taxpayers of Quebec were tightly packed during their morning commutes. A glancing look in all directions would reveal early-opened food stalls, charming sidewalk restaurants, and traffic policemen wearing white cotton gloves, ushering elementary students through the slow streets. Despite the hour being early in the morning during the workday, dozens of teenagers and adults alike populated the parks of City Hall, and the skating rink in the rear garden was in full swing, only a few hours after the artificial pond froze over.

Image

The overworked Master of Ceremonies, James Cross, with a reception list in hand, stood with royal policemen of the Sûreté du Québec. Guarding the entrance to City Hall premises, they were dressed in the most elegant of their crimson-clad uniforms with traditional Napoleonic hats, paying homage to the days when Quebec stood under the Parisian Empires. Though not in his job description, J. Cross had spent the last few months maliciously inspecting every nook and cranny of City Hall, the Residence, the Palace of Justice, to make sure that everything Quebecois screamed perfection to the world. This year-long's worth of effort was set wayward when Cross arrived to work on the first day of expected foreigners, forgetting his own documentation, and ending up having to stand outside in the frigid cold on vetting duties.

Image

In the interior of the building, the devoutly Catholic element of Quebec was not lost. The small and quaint but spectacular hallways were lined with crucifixes and relics of the old country. Hundreds of attendants were allocating finishing touches and shines for the ballrooms and the restaurants that were soon to be filled to capacity. Through the Hall of Kings the distant echo of a calm and atmospheric practice performance of the National Orchestra could be heard, in-between the verbal abuses of Chief Conductor Romalov Landre, who relentlessly pushed his musicians to the absolute best of their ability- "My honour will accept no less" he would decree during the late night practice sessions leading up to December. On the east-side, dormitory staff were retreating to the servant quarters, most of whom had to be conscripted from their jobs in the renowned adjacent Château Champlain. The warm and comforting smell of freshly baked goods originating from the breakfast room accompanied the solemn step of more royal policemen and the occasional silent tourist wandering the interior.

It was only two days until the arrival of the Empress. She was over in France, currently meeting with the National Assembly as French President Emmanuel Macron was in London with other world leaders for the London Summit.

Two men calmly walked the busy streets of Montreal, both dressed in casual black business suits, eyes hidden to the crowd by black sunglasses that fitted the eyes almost like a glove. The two men walked with a confidence and sense of duty, almost like they were the guards of a king or queen, and they seemed to never look anywhere but forward.
However, as these men walked, seemingly programmed to everyone, they were on a mission. They were an advancement teem sent by the Royal Guard to survey Montreal before the arrival of Empress Rose and Emperor Manuel, the two most important people in Eritei. As they walked the streets, they almost seemed to be talking to ghosts when they walked by a place.
"She will more than likely like to skate," one would say to the other in Eturian, and the other would agree, both making a mental note and deviating from their seemingly robotic path to survey the skating rink.

They would walk everywhere, arriving at the beginning of the week, the two Royal Guards spent all week surveying Montreal itself, their presence known to the Quebecois government but not to the public. They made sure of every dangerous alleyway, every high point, every vantage point, every possible dangerous place, they noted. All this to allow Rose and Manuel a vacation, of sorts. It was only a decade ago that Rose had a vacation, and now that she had four more children, a break was more than warranted.
For now, the guards could only resurvey the island, waiting for their Empress to arrive.

The Germanian Motorcade pulled in front of the Housing and Ballroom. As three heavily armored vehicles drove in front and back. As soon as the armored Limousine pulled in front of the steps. The doors of the Motorcade opened up. And 10 men rushed to the armored. They were wearing traditional German uniforms with their helmets; but the biggest difference of these men was the fact they had masks covering their faces. As soon as they were in position. A man got out of the front passenger vehicle. Wearing a Butlers uniform with a long coat tail. He'd walk briskly; and regally to the front of the door. Before opening the door. A man that was fairly young for a man of his power; rose from the vehicle and placing his cap on his head. While he held the royal title of Viceroy; he preferred to wear the uniform of a soldier. His long leather officers coat had a fur trim from a bear. His butler removed the ceremonial sword from his belt and knelt before the viceroy passing it to him. "Your Sword my Lord." He'd take it and affix it to his person before walking to the front. As he walked the men closest to the building marched forward. They held onto G36A3's as they walked. Ballistic vests and all.

The Emerald Earl, December 4th
Twenty miles outside of Montréal, New Québec
Air France, Cabin #5, La Première

My Lord,

I hope my words reach you at a joyous time! I was just informed of your recent departure for New Québec. My wife tells me the city of light is beautiful this time of winter and she is even now begging me to take her there.

I am writing to you now to update you on our loan negotiations with Dolores Michaels Deposit & Loan Bank. Our point of contact at their Dunwall branch has informed me that, due to our recent upswing in disposable income, that our proposal to extend your late father’s loan with the bank has been granted. We have been given an additional five years to payoff the loan at the standard interest rate.

On your return to Cippenwood Park I will have several documents for you to sign. Fair travels!

Warmly,
Jonathan Jeorge
Financial Advisor

The Lord carelessly tossed the letter onto an empty plate which was now devoid of roast duck and figs. In the background, the small flat screen television quietly buzzed about some insignificant nonsense while a man two cabins down snored endlessly. Still in his complementary, high-quality cotton bathrobe, he laid back in his dining car with a tilted posture leaning on the wall to his right. Grasping his glass of 2014 Château Léoville Poyferré Saint-Julien Rouge, the young Gristolian gazed out the cabin window.

For the 12th Earl of Hollington, also known as Lord Ed, life had recently been going so smoothly. Thanks to wise council, which should take all the credit, Lord Ed saw a change in the family checkbook. Riddled with overdue loan payments and few sources of income, his father, the late 11th Earl of Hollington, only added to the family’s debts with his poor investments and gluttonous attitude. He would be the first in a few generations to be able to almost afford his ludicrous spending habits.

Though, while on vacation, he tried not to think of finances too much. It was only two weeks ago his close friend, His Imperial Highness The Prince Alexander, referenced the public invitation to the Montreal Winter-Ball. Full of important royals and interesting dignitaries, Ed was very interested. Far too busy in the Gristolian Imperium with Imperial duties, the Imperial family could not attend personally. In that regard, the Lord felt like a representative of the Empire in their stead.

The guest list, from what the Lord had heard, would be quite exclusive. Monarchs, presidents and other influential foreigners would be arriving. Ed knew what strings to pluck with aristocrats in the Isles, but would this be different?

It would be a busy day as the plane was set to arrive at about noon, and from their Ed would need to locate his personal chauffeur, employed at the behest of New Québec. The government seemed quite serious to attract an international audience this year for the ball as many of the expenses were paid by the government. Ed was excited to see all of Old Montreal and questioned if four days would be enough.

Announcing our decent would begin shortly, Ed gathered his thoughts and his belongings. As Ed rose to change, he had wondered what would await him on this adventure.

The Montreal Winter Festival
Montreal City Hall, North-end Housing and Ballroom
December 4, 2019 - Late Afternoon

Royal Guards of the Sûreté du Québec immediately took notice of the Armoured Convoy and came to approach the gates to the entrance. As the heavily armed masked men poured out of their vehicles, followed by a lone man in a tailcoat. Half-a-dozen guards stood in the low-ready and got in-between the man and the door. They raised a hand to make distance, and put the other over their pistols that were mostly ceremonial and not for fierce gunbattles. As the calm of the city was violated and civilian heads began to turn, the honour guards started interrogating the guest in French,

"Qui est-ce? Qui es-tu?"
"Reculer! Reculez maintenant!"
"Arme à feu, arme à feu. Appel groupe tactique d'intervention!"
"Lâcher l'arme! Maintenant!"

The growing commotion and aggregated commands of the royal guards slowly summoned less-formal local policemen from the street and guard huts. Immediately over radio, interpreter Edward Cross quickly took note of the situation and made his way to the north end. The guardsmen knew to expect visitors but not ones from armoured vehicles. A slight standoff would ensue before Cross would arrive to receive their German guests.

Haelam Saller, Son of High Representative Saller
Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, Montreal, Nouveau Quebecois
8:12 AM, December 4th, 2019

When he was younger, and their family had just been a regular lower-class British household, Haelam had tried rescuing a bird who had somehow gotten itself trapped in their garage.

Spending hours racing around the car, stepping on boxes and footstools in order to increase his unimpressive reach. It had slammed its tiny, feathered body against the windows, increasingly desperate to be free despite the risk of injuring itself in its panic. His mother had been away from home with his siblings, and he didn’t know what to do without her stepping in to help him. In the end, it was his father who had saved the little feathered thing, using a long fishing net to capture it and release it out into the cold. He’d wanted to keep it, believing that it would be safer indoors, but his father had only laughed at his earnest pleas. “If the your little friend is always kept in the house,” he had said, ”what becomes of it when it wants to journey outside in the springtime?”

He didn’t have an answer. His father wiped the tears from his cheeks with a tissue, kissed his brow with gentle understanding. While he saw similar birds again when the frost melted, he could never be sure if any of them were the same individual, in spite of how much he liked to pretend that they were.

Although he was unsure as to why the memory was being dredged up in the center of the magnificent Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, handle of his suitcase clenched firmly in his hand while he drug it behind him, wheels rolling on the hard floors. He took in the world outside the windows, glad that the nation was close enough in latitude to Maedelia that he didn’t need to acclimate to a new environment, and watched the familiar snow drifting down from the sky. People from across the globe bustled around him, and the sights, sounds, and smells of the place were keeping him distracted. David, bless his heart, waited for him patiently as he looked around in wonder, smiling amusedly at his display. “Glad to be away from the attention at home?” He queried, and Haelam swallowed, nodding. They’d been friends for as long as David had been his bodyguard, which, while not a particularly lengthy period of time, had already created a closer relationship than he’d had with anybody, besides maybe his father. The man had died when he was twelve, something to do with his valves, but Haelam had mostly blocked the memories of that period in his life from his mind.

As it was, he tugged the collar of his elegant beige turtleneck around his throat, pulling his maroon peacoat closer around his body, and eagerly explored the premises. It was a relief, being in a country where hardly anyone turned their heads at his presence, although his plentiful movies and recent astronomical escapades ensured he attracted some curious glances. He bought some local cuisine on his way through the airport, examined some of the exhibitions in the airport, and when he finally made it through customs and immigration, it was with relief and excitement for the coming days.

The chauffeur had ‘Saller’ written on a white piece of poster board, and he flashed his identification to him, allowing him to guide him to the vehicle that was waiting. What followed was a cursory tour of the city, courtesy of the provided escort.

Morning bled into the afternoon, and although the light in the sky had dimmed, night hadn’t yet come. There was a curious commotion in front of the City Hall, and although he noted it in his mind, he allowed his chauffeur to park in the designated area, stepping out with David close behind him. “Mec, cou ceacaesu coisae caemas,” he mused, addressing the irritated shouting of what looked to be the event’s security, and David hummed in agreement, taking him by the shoulder to shepherd him towards the entrance.

“What did he say?” Their escort said, turning around slightly to face them.

“That doesn’t sound good,” David answered for him quickly, providing the translation with a practiced ease.

He only hoped the festivities would continue to be that interesting.

Nouveau Quebecois
4 December, 2019

A car with a Quebecois license plate rolled in near the Housing and Ballroom, carrying two important Amenrian women - Camilla and Camellia, also known as the Vampire Twins, daughters of the Heavenly Emperor himself and former Matriarch of the Miao Coven, soon to inherit the position once their uncle, the interim Patriarch, is required to relinquish it.

Camilla looks outside the window, bored. Without clturning, she talked to her sister. "I don't get it, why do we have to take a car when we can just swarm here?" She did have a point. They could've travelled the distance between universes by finding a point where reality is weaker than usual, then fly from there to the venue in the form of swarms of bats. "Uncle told us to respect the local customs. Besides, it's almost Christmas, not Halloween. I don't think your usual sudden appearance act would be appreciated."

Camilla scoffed. Maybe at her sister's words, or perhaps at the sight before her - an armoured car which the German delegate walked out of with his personal bodyguards of five. "Heh, what a loser. If you need all those guards to watch your arse, how are you supposed to protect your people? How long do you think it'd take me to knock 'em all out?" this time, Camilla took the effort of looking at Camellia as she smirked after delivering her comment. Camellia just rolled her eyes, putting her hand on Camilla's thigh. "Could you please not? It's still early." "That's kinda why I'm so full of it. I'll get back to my normal level of snarkiness in a few hours." Camilla then looked at the chaffeur. "Hey, umm..I know this is the last thing you wanna hear, but are we there yet?"

It was a few hours before the ball was starting, the two representatives from Zajtahn were on a flight to the country of Montreal, discussing their plans during the events.
"So milady,-" Tomas said
"Don't call me that" Fourth said
"What do you plan to do for the ball?"
"Exactly what we were assigned to do. You will introduce our companies to investors, I will provide and record information."
"No, milady, I mean how shall you pahtake in the ball? Balls ah escuisite events that the most refined of men and ladies pahtake in.You must express and intermingle with the peahs, go and dahnce with compahnions, have some fun"
"I recommend you talk to me as little as possible. That accent that Hydra pays you to fake may make your company look refined, but I have to say that I find it infuriating."
"Ah! You ah so unrefined madam Foorth. You lot aht Rough ah olways such dulls"
With that remark, their flight landed and they both disembarked.

The Council Representative had simply chosen to walk, enjoying the pull of natural gravity, and the freedom of being allowed to enjoy a cigarette. His escorts, by his request, maintained distance from him but kept close positions, a compromise he allowed. The only one of his company to keep close to his side was the translator who he had yet to learn the name of, wearing a lovely soft blue suit and the golden signet of the Foreign Agency. They kept their eyes glued to the stone pavement, occasionally chancing a glance at the Representative.

"Enjoy the architecture of Montreal monsieur" Damien stated with amusement "you won't be able to enjoy the sights of such a lovely city look at the floor all day."

The translator grew flustered. ripping his gaze from the pavement and felt the growing heat on his cheeks.

"A-ah sorry sir" the young man stuttered, rubbing the back of their neck and ridding himself of the nervous sweat that had formed.

"We're nearly at the City Hall, we're going to get acquainted with the other guests before the event" Damien turned his head and made eye contact with the translator, giving him a small grin, "expect abit of work my young friend, we're to meet with the rest of the international community!"

Damien stopped at a small metal bin and pressed the front of his cigarette onto the provided ash-tray, ensuring it was properly inert before tossing it in with the rubbish. He burnt remnants off his hands and pointed towards the front gate, tilting his head at the armored motorcade.

"Appears to be a spot of bother over there, wise to not be involved, no?"

The translator remained silent and responded with a nod, watching as the Council Representative rubbed his chin in mild curiosity.

"Seems we'll have to wait our turn to greeted."

The two guards were quick to notice the commotion outside the guest house, quick to note the disturbance of these obviously German people. Passing by they even place their hands on their concealed weapons, as to defend themselves in case a fight happens. They needed to get back into the hotel, however that option may not be available to them at the moment. They more thought about the dangers to the Empress though.
Although this man may be a guest, they would need to pay attention for any more disturbances, and to ensure the Empress' safety.

December 4, 2019 - Late Night

Before leaving to attend to the growing unrest, Cross locked eyes with the Council Representative of Starbase Lambda walking with another man, approching the gate. He bit his lip to stall for time, considering he was probably the only Frenchmen in the city who could speak the German tongue. He gestured for a policemen to go and fetch the wayward guests.

"Montrer du respect, okay?"
"Oui monsieur."

With a nod, Cross left to intercept the German troublemakers and a policemen in a black cape and red clad gestured the two guests aside, away from the commotion.

"Allô, Allô, you are the guests of international, oui? I will check your papers and show you interior."

The officer is wrinkled dress gave a smile and motioned towards the south entrance of the building. Quebecois common law mandates that most buildings of the large variety be fitted with at least two large entrances for safety purposes.

"You two are together?"

He raised his hand at Damien and his interpreteur.

Elffair of Soulland, Riche-Outwardminister
Montreal City, Mtl, Nouveau Quebecois
Vesper of December 4th

A lone, turbine bronze, two-door hardtop coupe drove down the streets of Montreal City, the radio played a popular song in Elfland on a compact disc. Its unusual look, as well as the unique sound of the car's turbine engine probably attracted the eyes of many a Montréalais. However the driver had to stop herself from taking her eyes of the road to take in the beautiful Montreal cityscape.

Elffair had decided that the security situation in Nouveau Quebecois was adequate enough that a personal security detail was not needed. This was partly true; the Nouveau Quebecois police were known to be very professional, and the crime rate was effectively negligible. But really, Elffair absolutely detested playing chaperon to a bunch of guards when she was perfectly capable of defending herself. At the end of that thought, she had turned a corner on her way to the north end of the Montreal City Hall just in time to catch the resolution of the standoff on the Housing and Ballroom steps. Elffair had certainly been hoping for excitement, but she expected it to come perhaps a little later in the night. She was, after all, relived not to have been late, and directed the car near to another delegation car, which was most likely that of Amenria, to await her turn to make an entrance.

The great airship gently subsided out of the grey skies, it’s graceful descent mirroring that of the snowfall that surrounded it. The Siegfried was a truly magnificent construction, the pinnacle of Imperial aeronautical engineering and a work of art in its own right, adorned with heraldry and scenes lifted from the bible, truly a vessel fit for an Emperor. As the airborne behemoth slowly settled to the ground, Emperor Charles and his notably small entourage of only four bodyguards stepped out of the luxuriously spacious gondola into the cool, crisp North American air to meet with their Quebecois hosts.

"Rather cold, isn't it sir?" began one of his guards, a Captain Spielmann.

"Indeed it is. Perhaps we should be grateful it isn't colder, I've heard that the cities in this region are amongst the coldest in the world, only competing with Rusland for such a title." replied the Emperor, glancing around. "Certainly far colder than we are used to back in the Empire. Still, I anticipate that our accommodations should be more than comfortable."

Not to be outdone, the British decided to come in absolute splendour and style, showing off bright new (disarmed) military planes releasing firework missiles across the city, in the shape and colours of the British flag, as a large airshow began in Montreal, with James Hormet and his guards paratrooping in, wearing specially-made jackets to look like shooting stars. The show, whilst expensive, showed off both the power and wealth of the Empire to the international community. But that wasn't the end of it, no. To greet the Emperor at his site, the most esteemed musicians across the country formed an orchestra to create a truly ground-shaking, impressive composition, with a flotilla of golden and diamond cars to escort the Emperor to the palace, where he took off his airsuit to reveal a shining imperial coat wielding every gem from black diamond to alexandrite, each one cut to atomic perfection, shining the flood lights which had been placed atop the cars. Under it he wore an impressive suit, made of the finest fabric and linens of the day, with a Musgravite-plated watch on top as his left hand wielded one of the largest jewels in the world, known as the British benoite, a benoite able to shine a million times more than a diamond, atop a scepter as his right revealed a sharp greatsword with made from a mixture of every known gemstone in the world. It was truly glorious.

Suddenly, a 'woman' walked out of an isolated telephone booth at the Montreal airport. Dressed in 'her' usual militaristic attire and completely hairless on 'her' soft face, 'she' felt the cold air brush against her reddish hair and pale, freckled face. Really, it wasn't unusual for 'her' to be in the cold, and 'she' even enjoyed it. Dragging a small luggage out with 'her', 'she' already sighed, "Crap, I usually have robots or some chivalrous woman carry my shit." With a pout, 'she' wandered into the airport, checking 'her' ID and RCAS passport. "Well, I'm supposed to keep a low profile with this whole interdimensionial traveling thing," 'she' noted before grinning, "They don't even know my 'secret', hehe. This is going to be fun. I always wanted to see a world where Quebec is independent."

So, how are they going to handle me? I go through customs? I mean, I doubt they're going to go full open borders or something stupid like that.

December 2nd. Royal Palace, Citta del Re, Lux Pulchrae

It was a usually slow afternoon in the city, especially in the palace. Other than the guards in their places, there was no staff immediately present, probably resting or going about the town. Sitting in the East Lounge were the three prominent ladies of the palace, Queen Mother Valencia, Princess Isabella, and the recently engaged "Princess" Cecile Marie. They were all seated, or in Cecile's case laying on the sofa, reading their own individual literature.

Isabella kept giving small side glances to Cecile, revealing a level of distaste for her. Although she's been here almost three months, it still didn't sit well with Isabella, but her mother was surprisingly supportive of Cleone's decision. And if not supportive then she was at least accepting of it. Cecile was different, too different to like. For one she was French, spoke minimal Italian, wore pants, and rarely wore her veil inside the palace. She also tended to give the princess some attitude.

"I can see you looking at me." she said nonchalantly, her eyes still on her book.

"And I can see you living here." Isabella responded.

"Basta." Valencia stepped in, but didn't bother to stop reading.

Footsteps were heard approaching the lounge, only for it to be Cleone "Ah, I see you all have a little reading club going on here. Nice to see you bonding."

"No, we were just bored." Isabella said.

"Well then" he turned to his fiance "Cecile remember the invite to that festival in New Quebec? The winter one?"

"Yeah. What happened?" she asked, sitting up.

"Nothing, I sent them a message requesting to meet with their premier on the 6th. So pack what you need for two or three days. We leave here and arrive there on the 5th."

"But the ball isn't for another couple of weeks."

"Yes but I would like to say a little hello before the actual ball starts, you know, get acquainted first. It's gonna be fun!"

"Fine, I'll get my things." she stood up, heading for her room.

Regards, King Cleone d'Angeli IV.

The Premier, although busy, will certainly be able to make spare time for a presence with the renowned King d'Angeli IV. While other guests will be diverted to the housing and ballroom, please simply present this letter to City Hall Policemen as legally-binding proof of Assembly.

We hope to see you in the beautiful city soon.

The Montreal Winter Festival
Commissariat de Police, Sûreté du Québec, Montreal
December 5, 2019 - Late Night

The sound of a loud crack echoed through the halls of the Quebec's State Police central station, as Vince D. Lagare, Adjutant-Commander of the Department slammed open the door to his superior's office.

"Ç'est quoi ce bordel? J’ai l’feu au cul!" ("What the fuck? You're pissing me off!")
"Look, Lagare, just-"
"Accouche qu’on baptise!" ("Spit it out!")
"Lagare, camme toé maintenant! C'est un ordre! Dûr de comprenure!" ("Shut up now! That is an order! You don't understand!")

The last few months had been a hellscape of long night shifts and overworked days for both Lagare and his Commander-in-Chief, Gendron. Together, they meticulously planned the every patrol's footstep, every garrisons alertness, and every minor offence was stomped upon to ensure that no criminal menace would interrupt the royal ball, and now with the triumphant entry of the Germans, and the impromptu airshow of the psuedo-Anglos, the quiet city was suddenly rocked to the core. The Department received almost instantaneous complaints from the less impressed citizens, and the policemen who had to clear the way at a moments noticed weren't too pleased. This shock and awe for the Sûreté du Québec has even sparked rumours of the troops forming a union and going on strike. This was bad for Lagare, who was entrusted with security for the event. Very, very bad.

"Lagare, practice your English. These are the leaders of the world. For two months they own our city and you will be their guests. if you cannot adapt to the changing situation then you're not fit for military command."

Lagare was a young and fierce nationalist, still in his early twenties, and his disdain for foreigners and the Premier was only exemplified by his choice in visitors. He had no intention of attending the festivities but due to the trouble caused on Day 1, his troops needed him. Lagare bit his lip and went home to fix his formal uniform. He will be making an appearance shortly to give the leaders of the world a piece of his own mind.

Au téléphone: "Edward, je change d'avis. Ajoutez-moi à la liste des invités."

The guards double check everything before they head to sleep for the long day tomorrow.

Checking the guest list, they're quick to notice the sudden change to the guest list, and a little worried at it.

"It's Lagare," one said.
"Him? I thought he wasn't on the list?" the other said, browsing the news from his homeland of Eritei.
"He wasn't, but now he is."
"It's of small importance. The only thing we need to worry about is his, dislike to foreigners."
"Wouldn't that be a huge concern? Rose-"
"Her Imperial and Royal Majesty. Don't forget, just because she isn't here doesn't mean you don't guard her."
"Apologies. Anyway, Her Imperial and Royal Majesty is of British decent, wouldn't that cause a rift for the young nationalist?"
"It might, but all we can do is hope that the two can get along. Maybe Her Imperial and Royal Majesties Parisian accent when she speaks French will help a little"
"Hopefully. I don't want something like the standoff yesterday happening, but with us."
"Agreed, I'd rather not cause a commotion back home over the month. Besides, we don't want to ruin Their Imperial and Royal Majesties vacation."
"Yes, we wouldn't want that happening."

With that, the two finished their preparations for Rose's arrival tomorrow.

The Emerald Earl, December 5th
Old Montréal District, Montréal, New Québec
Hôtel de Ville, Room #349

Laying upon an emerald-colored tufted chaise, Lord Ed could not stop staring at a small portrait in the corner of the room of a young lady. This 19th century portrait depicted a depressed farm girl with long black hair and porcelain face. Clearly dramatized in some ways, Ed still found it quite memorizing. Regardless, after getting settled in his room, the young Lord could not help also putting on a depressed expression.

Being quickly picked up by his chauffeur, Felix, he was taken to his home away from home for the next two weeks. It was quite a nice apartment with all the amenities one would need on this sort of trip. As he made his way through the makeshift lobby, Ed heard even more rumors of the many heads of state that were to stay under the same roof as him. The Winter Ball would be quite a show. Regardless, with the Ball being two weeks out, he began to wonder how he would fill the next two weeks. Being accustomed to having a busy week by attending one appointment after another, the Lord dreaded having too much free time.

Deciding to finally take some action, Ed forced himself up and grabbed the phone on the end table to call the main desk. Perhaps someone downstairs could recommend some places for the young man to visit if not today, since it was already late in the evening, than tomorrow. He was dying to experience everything the capital had to offer. Interrupting his inner thoughts, someone answered the phone.

"Good evening," Ed sweetly said, "I have a request to make and I hope it will not be too much of a bother. While I have made plans to stay in Montréal for sometime, I must admit that I poorly planned my time here. Already, I am dying of boredom and I was hoping that maybe, as a native of this fine city, you could perhaps recommend some places to visit this month? " Hoping to his feet, Ed began to pace the room as he played with the phone cord. "I want to experience it all! Restaurants, bars, museums, art galleries, etcetera. I understand it is quite an open question so perhaps you could just send up a letter tomorrow detailing a few places I could start to visit, and then I can try to find my way from there?"

JRNS Constantine, off the Coast of New Quebec
Dec 5,

Off the Coast of the Island a ship sailed closer and closer to the nearest port. It was the JRNS Constantine, the flagship of the Royal Jernoan Navy And a avid and powerful Nuclear powered aircraft Carrier, it also carried an extremely important person aboard, the king of Jerno, Giorgio Annolo. Earlier that day the Constantine had sent planes out to scout the area for the kings safe passage through the area. They had also passed down messages to the Quebecois Government about there presence and purpose as well. All the planes had successfully returned with the go ahead. Giorgio himself was rather excited. It was the first time since a Jernoan Monarch or anyone from the Royal line that had gone to a foreign country in two thousand years. So for the king himself it was kind of a big deal. Soon the city was able to be seen as they began to sail by smaller ships and fishermen who would stop and gawk at the Constantine. It would sail into port where it would be anchored until the end of the Kings visit to the island. The ship lowered its plank and five highly trained men came out in ceremonial clothing with their ceremonial swords and a small trumpet in which they blew, another man came out he gave a look at the guards in which they quickly responded that it was safe for the King, the man spoke and said to the surrounding populace “ladies and gentlemen the King of Jerno Giorgio Annolo has arrived, the king came out smiling and waving as he walked to a car that was stationed near the ship. Giorgio would get in and hand a card over to the chauffeur. The chauffeur would drive to the Hotel were the king would be staying. Though as they neared their destination they were put in a delay as police cars and other officials drove through the city toward the city center. It turned out that some Germans were causing mischief in the city.

11:30am, December 5th. Montreal, New Quebec

Having departed from the airport and on their way to the Hotel de Ville, Cleone and Cecile watched the city pass by. They looked on in somewhat of an awe, cities weren't so grand in Lux Pulchrae. Sure, they were modern, but they weren't congested with skyscrapers and traffic except for maybe the cities on the Spanish Coast, Firenze, and New Versailles.

"Quite a city." Cecile commented, speaking only ever in French "Not like home, or at least not where we live."

"A bit cold though no?"

"Nothing too bad. It can get like this in Dumont, at least it's not Alemania. Those people are stuck behind the mountains, I can't imagine what it's like for them in this season." Watching the streets, she noticed city hall looked to be in a bit of a commotion.

"They can deal with it, they're tough people. But you're right, this is a good looking city." Cleone agreed as the transport came to a stop in front of the hotel. Stepping out first, his attire was revealed; something simple, a gray overcoat with black pants and shoes and a pair of black leather gloves. He held Cecile's hand to help her out of the vehicle, herself wearing similar humble clothes with a long black overcoat that went down to her below her knees and had a short shoulder cape going around it. Since it was a short stay, they left security back home. They took their luggage out and headed to the reception desk.

Much to Cleone's dismay, he greeted the desk in French, which one could tell was not his first language "Bonjour, we are guests of the ball later this month, but we're on an early visit. We would like to get a room for a couple days, something with a nice view, the lady likes to look at the city."
