The Palace of Alicante

Queen Catalina

The Palace of Alicante stood warm and bright even in winter, a stark whit against a modern city of concrete, Queen Catalina sat on her throne in the massive throne room, tonight the delegation from Polonge would be arriving, her court was alight with excitement, there had not been foreign delegates in Xenitak since before Queen Lucia had been crowned, many of them could not even remember seeing a foreigner before, most of them even doubted they would be able to communicate with any foreigners, it was definitely going to be something the court would talk about for years to come. The two Princesa were sitting on either side of their mother in two smaller chairs, the picture of chastity and regal beauty, the spitting image of their mother dressed in twin red dresses as their mother was dressed in a deep purple and gold gown that reflected her position as Queen. Many lords and ladies were dressed in similar fashion high collar shin length gowns and slimly tailored suits were the fashion of the day after all, it was more than common to see some of the younger lordlings in their military dress, having commissioned in the Queens army and navy as is tradition for many of their families. Their tan uniforms slightly drab against the brightly colored fashion of the ladies of the court. A herald whispered in the Queen's heir, her guests had arrived, she raised a hand and the court fell silent.

Princess Vanessza of Tatabanya, a women of 42 smiled up at the palace as she stepped out of her town car. Tall and lean as a tree, the noble princess had been delighted to be appointed as the first ever Polongain Ambassador to the Queendom of Xentiak. The Princess, sister of the current Noble governor of the Principality of Tatabanya was, apparently the only person in Polonge who seemed to know anything of the small matriarchal country, and even that had only been from the sort of leisure research of a childless woman without much to do. Now Her Serene Highness, the Princess Tatabanya had much to do. She was so excited. The ambassador wore a sweeping green and red dress, meant to be like the colors of the flag of the empire, though it made her look somewhat like a Christmas Tree. Her blond chair was set in a tumble of curls and topped with a small tiara.

Next stepped out Princess Kitti of Koscsis-Kódány, the younger sister of the current prince. However, whilst her principality may have been a backwater, Kitti’s family had collections across the globe thanks to her brothers strategic alliances to women in Scotland and Rhine-East Berlin and Derita. This Kitti and her connections held some level of influence and thus she had used that to join the delegation and perhaps create some more connections. Beautiful and just a few months away from thirty, she wore a marvelously embroidered sky blue abs black down that gave her a slimming figure. Kitti looked up at the Palace of Alicante and marveled at it. Kitti dreamed of one day living in a palace such as this. It was gorgeous, and she couldn’t help but feel jealous of the women who owned it.

Princess Kitti

Princess Sara Gyulás, the stepsister of the Empress of Polonge was next. Dressed in a slender white and gold dress, the girl who had once been a commoner and had over night been turned into a princess looked the part. She shivered slightly at the cold and hurried forward, perhaps a bit faster than was due a woman of her station. Princess Gyulás, as she was officially known just as Kitti and Vanessza were Princess Kocsis-Kódány and Tatabanya respectfully, was not as well connected as the other two noble princesses, but she had the benefit of being the Empress’ stepsister. And the Empress notoriously loathed her stepsisters, meaning that she missed no opportunity to send them far far away. So Sara has been sent to Xenitak to befriend the Royals of the country.

Princess Sara

Finally stepped out the two actual royals of the delegation. Whilst most outside of Polonge found themselves confused with the plethora of princes and princesses that they had, to the Polongains themselves there was a start difference between a prince, and a Prince. A noble prince was a dime a dozen. A Royal Prince was leagued more valuable, if almost as plentiful. The delegation had been graced with two. The eldest, Prince François of Venise, heir to the client Kingdom of Venise and the younger, Prince Alfonso, heir to the Grand Duchy of Crisana. The two boys, cousins, were grandsons of former Empress Joséphine. And they couldn’t have been more different.

Prince François (right) and Prince Alfonso (left)

Prince François was taller, leaner, colder. An only child, the prince had been doted on his entire life by his over protective mother. Just a few months shy of seventeen, he appeared older, and this was the first time he’d been allowed anywhere without his mother escorting him. François wasn’t particularly handsome. He had slightly effeminate features, long blonde hair tied in a ponytail that went down his back, pale skin and a constantly imperious posture, something he'd developed in an effort to be called cute, as he had been called for most his youth. He walked with confidence and the slightest bit dark amusement, like a little god of mischief. Alfonso however was shorter and friendlier, the eldest of five siblings, with several brothers and sisters. He wore glasses and unlike François’ simple if expensive and well made suit, Alfonso wore what at first glanced looked like a military uniform, but wasn’t. Alfonso wasn’t allowed in the military for two reasons. Instead it was a uniform of the Order of the Humanitarian Guard, of which his father was the Grand Master of. The medals represented honors that Alfonso had gotten on his many trips with his father to held those in need.

The two boys followed after Princess Gyulás, François appraising the palace, while Alfonso marveled at it. Behind them several footmen gathered several chests, crates, even a covered cage. The two princes had bought many, many gifts.

Lord Julio Cortez waited in the great hall of the palace to meet their guests, when he saw them he bowed, "Good Evening to the esteemed guests, Ambassador Princesa Tatabanya, Princesa Gyulas, Princesa Kocsis-Kódány, Principe Francois of Venise and Principe Alfonso of Crisana." he said naming them all. "Please follow me to be received by the court."

Lord Cortez turned on his heels and lead them into the throne room.

---------------------------------------------------

Queen Catalina smiled as the doors opened the Polongian delegation arriving at last, she spread her arms open wide as if she were welcoming home her own children, "Welcome to Our home," she said using the royal we that was their custom. Her two daughters stood up gracefully studying their guests, they took their mothers lead, "Bienvenidos a nuestra casa". The Queen and a select few others were the only ones that spoke a language besides the native language, while the two Princesa preferred their mother tongue. The Queen stepped down from her throne to come greet them all personally, kissing every member of the delegation on both cheeks, "Hola mi hijos, welcome to Alicante Our capital city and our home."

The delegation, save Princess Tatabanya, were surprised by the kisses from the Queen. They had not expected the Queen of the Xentiakians to be so familiar. Of the surprised foursome, François and Kitti recovered quickly, recognizing the form of greeting. Sara and Alfonso, however, both found themselves blushing deeply. A nervous giggle escaped the younger prince and François had to place a hand on his cousin to keep Alfonso from stumbling backward from the Queen. Princess Tatabanya, Princess Kocsis-Kódány, and Princess Gyulás curtsied deeply to the Queen, the skirts of their dresses pooling around them. François gave a formal bow befitting both respecting a Queen and remaining fit for a prince of his station, his ponytail slipping past his shoulders. Alfonso have a shorter, more duck-like bow as he cleared his throat.

"Es un honor, su majestad. Estamos muy felices de ser sus invitados." Prince Alfonso said, fluently, though his words were heavily accented. Princess Tatabanya had known of the language of Xentiak, but only Alfonso spoke it. And even then Alfonso technically spoke a cousin of it. The words were similar, but they were more like cousins of the language of his mother's homeland. "El palacio, como todo su país, es impresionante." Alfonso said, glancing at the twin princesses before his eyes darted back to the Queen. "We wish to give you gifts, it is a tradition."

"As a symbol of our nation's friendship," the ambassador said with a joyful chirp. "As well as to show something of cultural exchange, we've brought things for the court."

François gestured to great train of crates and chests and boxes being carried before the Queen and the dais, "We have selected the very best gifts personally for the Royal Family."

Queen Catalina smiled at the delegation, particularly at Alfonso's fluency in the local language, while his accent gave him away as a foreigner, he was for the most part, understandable. She smiled at their offer of gifts, "We thank you for your gifts, it is most gracious of you." she said dutifully. At this point the two Princesa Reina and Elisa de Silva, they seemed to be amused at the delegations reaction to their mothers greeting, Elisa could be seen whispering something to her sister who giggled at the comment, their mother gave them a disapproving look, "Chicas, no sean groseras." the Queen said to them. Both Princesa straightened up at once, again becoming the model of elegance they are meant to be.

"Si madre," they said together. They were beautiful just as their mother was, but they both had an abundance of youthfulness that their mother did not share all of. The Princesa Elisa seemed to be subtly studying Alfonso finding his blunder cute.

Alfonso's face redding further as he realized that the princesses were laughing at him. The other members of the delegation looked at him expectingly, save Prince François, who was looking at Reina and Elisa. It was if the Royal Family of Xentiak was composed of mirrors, reflecting the same person in three different panels. It was almost strange looking at the different versions of the same woman, alluring. Prince Alfonso gave another bow, gesturing to one of the chests. The footman held it in his hands as if it were the most precious thing he'd ever held in the world. Which it was. He stopped before the Queen, kneeling as he bowed and opened the chest, revealing an ornate necklace. a string of pearls that sat around the neck like a collar, a heavy array of gold, pearls, and topaz that hung like a coral reef from the pearls.

"For you, Your Majesty," Alfonso said. "This belonged to my grandmother, Queen Eleanor of Scots."

A second footman stepped forward and opened a second chest, a pair of less ornate pearl necklaces, these having only a single topaz the size and shape of dollar coin hanging from them. Alfonso looked to Princess Reina and Princess Elisa. "Estos son para las princesas, sus altezas reales."

Queen Catalina smiled at Alfonso, he was a sweet boy, clearly a little uncomfortable in his skin, as was per usual of a boy his age but he was young. "We thank you, it is quite lovely, and blessed with such a lineage, we are most grateful." she said.

The two Princesa's faces broke with curiosity as they were also presented with gifts, Princesa Reina blushed deeply as Alfonso presented the gifts, her pale skin breaking into a rosy hue up her neck, while Princess Elisa kept a more professional demeanor her eyes straying to Prince Francois, who she had caught looking at her and her sister as well. Princesa Reina spoke first curtsying politely at Prince Alfonso, "Gracias por sus regalos." she said her sister echoing her a moment later.

Queen Catalina turned her attention back to the whole delegation allowing her daughters to fawn over the gifts for a moment, "We thank you for your gifts and welcome you to Our home, what's ours is yours for as long as you stay, please make yourselves at home." This was clearly a dismissal as most of the court went back to gossiping or filing out of the throne room, Lord Julio Cortez remained to as an assistant to the delegation, however the two Princesa curtsied to their mother and proceeded out the back door to retreat to the garden, while the Queen herself approached the Ambassador Princess Vanessza of Tatabanya, "It is a pleasure Ambassador-Princesa, please if you would I would like to talk to you more privately, get to know you more, would you accompany me to my study, it's a much more informal setting." she said pleasantly. "Lord Cortez will be here to help your companions with anything they may need, I'm sure they would welcome a moment to relax and mingle a moment."

Prince François pursed his lips slightly as the Queen dismissed her court. He had yet to present his gifts to the Royal Family. He shot a glare at his cousin, suspecting that that was Alfonso’s fault. Princess Tatabanya meanwhile grinned eagerly as she fell in step with Queen Catalina, her head bowed.

“It would be an honor Your Majesty,” the ambassador said. “I would love to speak with you and present you my diplomatic credentials.”

Prince François, seeing the retreating princesses nudged his cousin and gestured for him to follow him as he in turned followed the twins, another pair of footman following behind him with a heavy crate between them.

Queen Catalina smiled, "I am sure your credentials are quite excellent my dear, we do not expect many to know much about our nation, after all my grandmother succeeded in her goal of cloistering us off from the outside world, well I do not necessarily agree with what she did, it certainly kept us away from war and the issues of the outside world, however we find that in many aspects we have been left behind, no matter, I am sure we will catch up eventually." she said. She was curious about the ambassador and was hoping that she would be staying with them.

The two Princesa knew that the Princes were following them, they had such rare opportunities to talk to boys their own ages and were elated at the prospect, Reina whispered to her sister, "¿Crees que son lindos, el más corto parece un poco torpe, pero en el buen sentido."

Elisa shushed her sister, "comportarse hermana, son nuestros invitados." but in truth she thought that the taller Prince Francois was quite handsome.

François and Alfonso followed the princesses, Alfonso a bit more timidly than his cousin. François caught sight of the twins whispering to one another. He looked to Alfonso.

“What are they saying?”

Alfonso shrugged his shoulders. “I couldn’t hear them, and I can’t read lips.”

François rolled his eyes, flipping his hair back over his shoulder as he close the distance between them, Alfonso scrambling after him. François stopped before Reina and Elisa, bowing.

“Your Royal Highnesses. I’m afraid you did not get the chance to see my gift to you.”

“ Mi primo desea presentarte su regalo.” Alfonso translated.

François waved a hand to the heavy chest which was set down. “It is from my home city of Venise,” François explained as the top opened up and revealed a model city, the island city of Venise, complete with its finely detailed canals and cathedrals, all done in Venetian glass in a rainbow of colors like the stain glass windows of a cathedral. The model city of Venise was the size of a laptop but extremely detailed and equally delicate.

“ Es un modelo de Venecia, la casa de François,” Alfonso said. “Está hecho de vidrio veneciano, soplado a mano.”

Meanwhile Princess Tatabanya nodded her head in agreement. “Isolation is often seen as the only way to protect ones way of life, but cultures are always strongest where they converge and co-exist. I believe your nation’s debut onto the world stage can become that is well orchestrated with the right guiding hands.”

The two Princesa marveled at Francois' gift, it was quite exquisite and in truth they had never seen anything like it. "Gracias Príncipe Francois, es maravilloso" said Princesa Elisa, she was quite impressed, her sister echoed her thanks after a moment, taking a bit longer to truly study the model.

Princesa Reina looked at the two princes then glanced at her sister, she was scheming, her sister seemed to like this Francois, she had in fact paid more attention to him in the few short hours that they had been here, than any of the local boys their mother had encouraged them to meet. She looked back at the two princes, "¿Te importaría unirte a nosotros en el jardín, creo que alguna compañía real sería bienvenida." she asked, slipping her arm through her sisters and smiling at the two princes.

-------------------------------------

Queen Catalina nodded in agreement,"We have always been a quite people, much preferring to stay on our Isla and live our lives rather than invite a disturbance, and after the shaky coronation of my abuela, Queen Lucia de Silva, we have much preferred to keep ourselves out of the public eye, however I feel we are quite ready to invite the international community back into our lives and hopefully become active members in it, with your help of course." she said smiling at the ambassador.

François smiled brightly at seeing that the two princesses were impressed by his gift. He’d expected as such. He’d thought it gross that Alfonso was giving his dead grandmother’s jewelry to the Xenitakian Royal Family. But Venetians were famous for their artistic prowess, and Alfonso was no Venetian. And he bowed in thanks to Princess Elisa, understanding that she liked it. He straightened and the smile remained plastered on his face, and his eyes remaining on Elisa. He however turned to Alfonso for translation when Reina spoke.

“The Princess wishes for us to join her and her sister in the garden,” Alfonso provided, glancing at the princes and then to his feet and then to his cousin before repeating the cycle.

“Well tell them that we’d love to!” François said cheerfully, putting an arm around Alfonso and looking back at the two princesses.

Alfonso looked to Reina. “ Nos honraría acompañarte al jardín.”

“Oh how wonderful that would be.” Princess Tatabanya said cheerfully. “It is Polonge’s greatest desire to see all the peoples of the world brought into one big happy family. The world is always better when we are together. Polonge is more than willing to help you and your kingdom re-enter the great world view.”

Reina smiled and lead her sister by the arm to the garden, knowing the two princes would follow them. Her sister squeezed her arm a little tightly, clearly wanting to know what she was up to. When they reached the garden Reina took a deep breath, calling it the garden was a bit of an understatement, the whole thing was about two acres around of pure horticultural extravagance the worlds rarest flowers bursting in full bloom, she didn't know how it was done, her mother had commissioned the committee of scientific advancement to achieve a full year bloom in the gardens flowers, that and the excellent work of their garden staff left a beautiful end product. The two sisters sat at a small table that was placed off to the side in the garden, allowing room for both of the princes to sit next to one of them. Elise looked at her sister nervously casting a quick glance at Francois, while Reina smiled at Alfonso.

------------------------------------------------------

Catalina laughed merrily, "Yes it would be wonderful for the world to be one family, although the cynical side of me doubts that it ever will be. What would your recommendation be, I would after all like to ease Xentiak gently into the world, not accost my citizens with culture shock, they would likely not appreciate that." she said. "Xentiak is a modest country in many ways, I would not want to force the foreign world on my citizens if they do not wish it, but I no longer want it to be withheld from them." she said seriously. The decision to expose Xentiak to the world would be change the world for her citizens, and she was unsure if they would benefit from it, it bothered her more than she was willing to admit.

Alfonso was so caught off by the sight of the garden that he almost missed the fact that they were seating at the table. The garden, of one daned to reduce it to such a description, was amazing. Alfonso was no landscaper or anything like that, but he could recognize when a sight was impressive. François was less impressed. While he didn’t recognize many of the flowers, he could be sure if that was because they were rare or simply obscur in the psychgeist. And did it matter when there were two princesa to hold his attention. François slide in gracefully to the spot next to Elisa, a sharp smile on his face. Alfonso sort of belatedly stumbled into his spot next to Reina, slightly wishing he’d got to sit next to Elisa. Reina seemed more confident and with direction which made Alfonso fill like butterflies were attempting to escape his stomach.

“Esto, Uh, esto es mu-muy lindo.” Alfonso stammered slightly as he spoke.

“That is understandable.” Princess Tatabanya nodded, trying to think what it must be like to open your nations doors after nearly a century of isolation. “Perhaps we should start small? A student expedition perhaps where some Xenitakian pupils study abroad and get a taste of foreign life. Young people are often the key to progress.”

Reina smiled at Alfonso, she liked Alfonso's nervous demeanor, it was adorable in her opinion. "Gracias, es el orgullo y la alegría de nuestras madres."

Elisa tucked her hair behind her ear and looked nervously at Francois. His easy demeanor making butterflies bounce in her stomach. She looked around the garden seemingly looking for something to focus on.

Reina placed her hand on top of Alfonso's gently, "¿Eres un admirador de las cosas hermosas, es un tiempo pasado bastante popular aquí en nuestro país" she asked looking him in the eyes.

Elisa seemed to be trying to think of something to say to Francois however is falling short, "C-¿Cómo estás, Pri-Príncipe? she said her face going slightly pink.

----------------------------------------

Catalina smiled brightly, "That would be wonderful, I would also like to open the capital up to student tourists, perhaps those who would like to study abroad?" she asked, then paused thinking, "How much do you know about the more rural areas of my Queendom?" she asked curiously.

Alfonso felt like a fire had been lit under his chin and it showed on his face as it turned red, well, redder than it already was, though it probably had reached its limit. God, he hoped so. Part him wanted to pull his hand away, not because he didn’t like, no, no he did. It was just, he felt so awkward. He pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose. “ Estoy seguro de que no le falta placer. eh, um mirando cosas hermosas, quiero decir.”

François meanwhile was leaning in closely to Elisa. Not too closely, but in just a way we’re he stayed in his seat, but his face was a few inches closer. He didn’t speak the language but recognized the first word, and the second one was obvious enough. He tried to think of how to say. “Uh, come va?” François said, his accent mediocre at best. “Is that right?”

Princess Tatabanya rubbed her chin thinking, trying to remember anything about the rural areas of Xenitak. Unfortunately most of the few texts she’d read were many centered on the Royals and the palace with little substance regarding the everyday life of the citizens. “Not very much I am afraid, though I am happy to learn. Why do you ask?”

Reina smiled at Alfonso as his face grew red, she was having fun teasing him, "¿Qué pasa mi príncipe? Eres tan rojo en la cara, ¿estás teniendo fiebre?" she asked him, her words almost dripping with concern as she reached a hand out to feel his forehead. She rang a small bell on the table, "Déjame traerte un vaso de agua".

Elise giggled a bit at Francois attempt to translate her language, "Sí, más o menos," she said to him, then turned to her sister, she disapproved of the inappropriate way that Reina was flirting with Alfonso, "hermana, por favor deje de torturarlo" she said to her sister in a scolding tone.

Reina shrugged coyly, "qué, no se está quejando" she said. Elise just shook her head and turned back to smile at Francois.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Queen Catalina shook her head thinking about the state of the rural regions of the nation, "The country side and the cities are very different places, here in the cities the army protect the civilian population and all is peaceful, however in the countryside many of the nobility have had to make deals with the cartel, when my grandmother came to power, it was in the wake of a civil war, many of the revolutionaries wanted a democracy you see, these cartel are remnants of rebel militias, they don't have the same goals mind you but they do cause a significant headache in their local regions, it would not be safe for tourists in these regions, as they wouldn't fall under any local agreements that the Aristócrata has made with these organizations." she coughed into her hand, "It would be ideal for that information to remain between the two of us." she said tactfully.

Princess Tatabanya’s eyes widen in surprise as the Queen explained the situation in the countryside. Such a state of affairs was, naturally, alarming to the Princess. Polonge’s own extreme rural countryside was sparsely populated and had been created almost like a colony, but to think that Xenitak’s were in the arms of cartels and rebels, it was a horrific thought.

“Perhaps for now, yes, especially whilst the princes are here, but Your Majesty, if I may, surely some sort of campaign could be organized in order to return the countryside back to the full authority of the central government?”

François tilted his head at Elisa, not understanding. “Alfonso, translate.” He ordered his cousin, returning Elisa’s smile. He wasn’t sure what she was actually saying, but her words sounded pretty. Alfonso smiled appreciatively at Elisa and realized that Reina was teasing him on purpose. He cleared his throat. “Está bien, estoy bien.” Whilst nervous around Reina, it wasn’t a bad nervous he decided.

“She just says is doing...” Alfonso search for the write word for François. “alright?” He then looked back at Reina.

Queen Catalina nodded, "Yes, I have been planning a counter insurgency with my generals for some time in the rural regions, unfortunately many commoners in these regions see these cartels as a way of life, part of their culture, in many aspects they take the place of a fraternity, however they also limit my Aristocrata's power in these regions. The current plan is to infiltrate these organizations and cut off their heads, giving us the opportunity to decentralize them, and allow the local Aristocracy to reassert control, most of these groups are pretty drug dealers and smugglers however they are armed, my generals want to see about out gunning them with more modern weapons of course, but it's something I'm hesitant to introduce to the country, especially if it proves harder to dislodge these cartels.

------------------

Reina smiled at Alfonso, "Mi lindo y joven diplomático, hablas muy bien nuestro idioma para un extraño, estoy impresionado." She said tracing a finger up his arm.

Elise coughed slightly, her sister was getting a little too tactile for her taste, she didn't want their guests to think that this was normal behavior, even though for her sister it mostly was. She looked at Francois, "Me disculpo si mi hermana está siendo inapropiada en su comportamiento"

Alfonso felt his brain short-circuit a little bit. A let out a small embarrassed giggle at Reina’s words. He ran his hand through his hair, his fingers making a mess of his black hair before rubbing his neck as he stammered.

“¿yo? ¿Impresionante? no, quiero decir, no diría, quiero decir...” Alfonso looked at the ground and then up at her bashfully. “ ¿usted piensa que soy lindo?”

François, at a lost without Alfonso to translate, since his cousin was apparently being turned to mush at Reina’s fingers, decided that he would just have to figure out what Elisa was saying without him. She kept looking at Reina and Alfonso. But she didn’t seem very happy about it. Perhaps she wanted to give the two some time alone? He had no desire to see Alfonso be played with like a mouse in a cat’s claws, and perhaps Elisa didn’t wish to see her sister do the playing.

“Come,” François said, standing up, his and outstretched to Elisa. “Let’s walk.” He gestured walking with his fingers to her, point a finger at her chest and then his chest. “Okay?”

“Oh my.” Princess Tatabanya pressed the back of her hand to her forehead, the very idea of conflict challenging her delicate constitution. “How terrible. I see. Such rot can not be allowed to continue to grow in those communities.” The princess’ own family had once been functionally independent within Polonge, not long ago either, before the reign of the present empress’ mother. But never had they had to face such troubles like cartels running amuck. “I understand your hesitation at not wishing to expose more modern weapons to the situation. Smuggling and black market deals can quickly lead to domestic cartels having a few weapons that can make them much harder to root out. That being said, perhaps Polonge can provide some information collecting technology. Polonge is the largest goods manufacturer in the universe after all. If we could identify the heads of the cartels, their headquarters, their patterns, well, then you can quietly take care of them before the rest of the world even knows.”

Reina giggled, "Sí, bueno eso es lo que dije" she said, playing with her hair a little. She batted her eyes slightly at Alfonso taking her hand and tucking his hair behind his ear. "tu cabello es tan hermoso mi príncipe". Reina barely even noticed her sister and Francois leaving although she did make a mental note of their absence. Surely the Prince would not try anything with her dear sweet sister Elise.

Elise nodded and took Francois' arm, she laughed a little to herself, while her sister and her spoke many languages including the one these forgeiners spoke, as it was their duty as Princesa to represent their country. They preferred to speak their native language because it made it easier to communicate in front of others who did not speak their language well. Although she did raise an eyebrow at him pointing at her chest, "¿Estás recibiendo príncipe audaz".

It was as if a fire had been ignited behind Alfonso’s ears as Reina’s fingers brushed against his skin as she tucked a lock of his hair behind it. He looked at Reina, transfixed by batting eye lashes and dark eyes. He unconsciously touched her hand, holding it.

“Gra-gracias.” Alfonso searched for the right words to say and then how to translate them. “Tu, Tu cabello es muy hermoso.” Alfonso said, his eyes finally focusing her her, not farting away, or being far away, but actually focusing on her. “Eres muy hermosa.” He said the words before he completely though the sentence out.

François noted Elisa’s raised eyebrow André had heard the word “principe” enough times to know it meant prince. And she had laughed. He must have done something right then. That was about as much context as he had. “I thought you might like an excuse to get away. I know I did. Besides what are gardens for if not for principe et princesas to stroll in?” François gestured to sprawling garden. “Do you have a flower you like?” François turned and plucked the nearest flower and held it up to her, holding his thumb up and then down in question.

Reina blushed, she was often called beautiful but not by those who usually wanted to get to know her, they just wanted something from her. "Gracias Alfonso," she said daring to use his first name. It wasn't often that she would do so, she preferred to remain professional.

Elisa smiled and cleared her throat, "I do have a favorite flower actually, its a white rose." she said speaking in his language her accent was a little thick but still understandable.

Queen Catalina nodded, "Modern weapons would make the transition much harder, but if we can do it secretly and safely I believe it is possible, now of course I would hate for the international community to find out about this small infestation, it would be a stain on our image." she said

François’ jaw dropped in surprise. He hadn’t been expecting that sort of response. He couldn’t complain through, the idea of linguistics charades sounds tiring. “You could understand me? Not only that, you can speak in my language? Why didn’t you do so earlier? We could have ditched Alfonso so much faster then.”

“No es nada.” Alfonso assured her. Had it been possible his face might have turned redder. “Re-Reina.” He said her name hesitantly. They were both royals, but not necessarily equal in rank. He wasn’t sure if he was at liberty to use her name.

Elisa giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. "Its not as easy to learn what people really think about you if they know you understand them." she said . "Although it would have been nice to be on our own sooner, I feel so uncomfortable when Reina flirts, she's so open about it."

Reina raised an eyebrow at Alfonso, "cada vez más atrevido, ¿no?" she said with a smile, "no te preocupes, me gusta". She leaned forward slightly, "así que, ¿qué te gustaría hablar de mi apuesto príncipe"
