Group of people more obnoxious than vegans, meat snobs

Postby Iwassoclose » Fri Nov 08, 2019 8:19 pm

I eat meat but there is a group of meat eaters who think that there is a certain way that meat has to be prepared for example steak has to be partially raw to be the "correct" method of cooking it, puts down people with alternate diets and is just generally more obnoxious when related food topics are brought up.

All of this combined and I think even the most obnoxious vegan loses to them.

Which group from the opposite ends of the spectrum do you find more annoying?

This seems rather bloggy, might want to work on the OP to make it less bloggy and more something to discuss.

Here's my perspective on steak:

I like rare steaks, however I understand it's a matter of taste and some people prefer it more cooked, and if you get it medium well or medium then that's totally fine. Medium-well is weird to me but alright, some people like that.

You know what else can be cooked to varying degrees? Toast. Some people stick it in for 10 seconds and it's barely toast at all. Some people like it a bit crispy and some like it a nice golden brown and all of those are valid preferences. But if someone said "toast this bread until it turns black", you have to admit you're going to think "That's weird, this person likes scorched toast".

Well-done steak is like black toast or ice cream that has completely melted and liquefied. Like, it's your food and you can have it like you want, but just as most people consider totally melted ice cream and totally black toast to be outside of an acceptable range, this is also the case with well-done steak.

So eat what you want but don't act like it's unreasonable to be perceived as weird because of it.

I am a proud vegan. I find meat eating abhorrent and I cannot stand by and watch people endorse such cruelty. It may be "annoying" but it is the right thing to do.

Religious nuts say you're going to be eternally tormented in a lake of fire because you don't agree with them, I'd say that's worse than the most preachy vegans.

I'll also add that while some vegans do seek attention for it, the backlash has gotten to such an extent that if someone mentioned they're a vegan once every 5 years people would still be like "Oh my god, do you ever shut up about that?"

And the reason I find meat eaters annoying is that they see themselves as somehow above animals.

You don't need to eat steak with pink in the middle. You can put ketchup on lobster, eat a hotdog out of a shoe- the government won't stop you. But you have to understand what you're doing is evil and people are going to take notice.

There are many reasons as to why humans are superior to animals. The fact that you can be as emotional as you are now proves my point even further.

There's scientific proof that animals don't feel the same (if anything aside from instincts) about death as humans. It's a matter of self-awareness and complex thinking.

As written, the title of the thread suggests that there's a group of people more obnoxious than both vegans and meat snobs; so I was looking forward to a discussion of obnoxious flexitarians.

Perhaps the OP actually means 'Group of people more obnoxious than vegans: meat snobs'.

I know it's just a small change in punctuation, but punctuation sometimes matters. See, for example, the lack of an Oxford comma in "I'd like to dedicate this book to my parents, Ayn Rand and God'.

Do meat eaters go around spreading leaflets, putting ugly posters up, virtue signal, send death threats to butchers, jump in front of livestock trucks, and spray old building with red dye?

Vegans because hardcore vegans suffer from malnutrition, want to force everyone to follow their lifestyles by force, terrorize people in the meat industry and fetishise/worship animal-on-human violence and the death of mankind in general.

Meat snobs are not even annoying imo.

Unfortunately, some people who haven't realised that breatharianism is nonsense peddled by charlatans have suffered the ultimate consequence. I vividly remember this story from 20 years ago:

https://www.theguardian.com/uk/1999/sep ... ardseenan1

A woman who was found dead at an isolated beauty spot in the Scottish Highlands may have died while trying to convert to a bizarre New Age movement whose adherents claim not to eat or drink.

A diary containing references to the self-styled guru Jasmuheen, who claims to have lived on "liquid air" since 1993, was found in the dead woman's tent. Police believe she may have died from starvation.

It is thought the woman may have been attempting Jasmuheen's 21-day conversion course where followers eschew all food and drink for seven days and then take only sips of water for a further 14. After that, Jasmuheen claims, adherents to 'breatharianism' need never eat or drink again.

A well done steak may as well be shoe leather.
The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

Oh God. I remember that Jasmuheen. She made a documentary where she tried to prove her claims that she never had to eat or drink, but the experiment was aborted when she ended up being rushed into hospital.

To date, she has never proven her claims (for obvious reasons) but she's made god-knows-how-much peddling her garbage to the gullible (and teachings like hers have led to who-knows-how-many deaths).

Yep. Breatharianism is the worst one. Hands down.
