I don’t know if Disney has changed this, but from the prequels, the Grey Jedi were largely just part of the greater Jedi order, denoted by their use of purple lightsabers. Mace Windu is a prime example

From my understanding they are Jedi who tend to use the more darker aspects of the force along with the light side. This is can include Jedi who simply disobey the council like Qui Gon Jinn, to force users like Revan.

Alright, so basic premise idea:

200 years after, the Galaxy fractures and there are many Warring States, and the Jedi split in ideology as well and there are many factions. The Sith return, and some are rule of two while others are normal, in this chaos, a outside force invades.

Honestly that sound really cool. Having different factions of Jedi and Sith fighting each other sounds like a fun idea that could have some cool ideas introduced(like Jedi being rulers of nations and such.) And would the outside force be the Yuuzhan Vong or a completely different faction?

I mean if were talking legends Grey Jedi could also apply to Revan like figures. So having some Grey Jedi type factions could be interesting in how they blend the ideals of the Sith and Jedi.

Completely different faction, possibly Lovecraftian Inspired to add some Horror to Star Wars.

Sounds cool. Though it may be better to have them invade a little bit after the beginning of the RP. Just so players can get a bit more situated in their roles and can better experience the whole warring states element of the RP. Also about the whole warring states element do you think it would be more like every planet is independent or more like groups of planet under one banner fighting other groups of planets?

We'd use ABY, but we're more deciding how far from the last series is.

Well, if we're following Legends then the government that formed immediately after Krayt's Empire was:

A government run by the head of the Jedi Order, the heir to the Fel Empire and the head of the remnants of the Galactic Alliance ( an offshoot of the Galactic Federation after Krayt's destroyed it ).

A viable reason for the public to go against such a system would be that the head of a group of individuals who only number in the thousands ( the Jedi Grandmaster ) shouldn't have the ability to determine policy for quadrillions of sentients.

A bit similar to that one corellia plot-line with Centre-point station, no? Maybe the republic stand-in issues some law about trade-taxation that hurts the mid-rim the most and they decide that the gov. Is corrupt and the Jedi also split, meanwhile the Sith attack (I took some elements for yours!)

Not exactly, it’s more of a philosophy of balance than a loyalty to credits if you get what I mean

One idea I have is a militaristic Grey Jedi style Republic.

New dark side order? Maybe something obscure? How about the Shaper of Kro Var (look them up...)? I know they mostly kept to themselves but things can change, they had some interesting powers... I would say the Blackguard but they were all but wiped out...

Mandalorian faction(s), some Jedi ones-go unique I'll make the big Grey Jedi one but there could be a major rival grey jedi faction too-, as well as setting up an app, I'll link you the lightsaber form guides we'll use.
