Dual citizenship in your nation

Postby Arumdaum » Sun Oct 13, 2019 10:38 pm

Is possessing multiple citizenship allowed in your nation? For example, IRL the United States allows for people with dual citizenship, and countries such as South Korea allow it to a limited extent.

Jeongmi allows for multiple citizenship on the basis that those with multiple citizenship do not exercise any other nationality while in Jeongmi. For example, someone with dual citizenship in Jeongmi would always have to use a Jeongmian passport to enter the country.

The Radiatian Federation does not allow it - if you wish to become a citizen of another country, you must renounce your Radiatian citizenship.

There's also an expectation that an immigrant would give up their original citizenship if becoming a naturalised Radiatian, however this cannot actually be enforced so there are some people who hold citizenship of Radiatia and another country.

We absolutely do NOT allow this. A Decepticon's loyalty must be to Victorious Decepticons, and ONLY to Victorious Decepticons.

If a Decepticon is caught with citizenship in some other country, his citizenship here is automatically revoked. Likewise, in order to immigrate, a foreigner must renounce all other citizenships. We will check. We will also make sure to submit all of the needed paperwork if an immigrant comes here and does his renunciation in our offices.

The reason we are so strict on this is simple: We figure that someday, we're going to invade wherever a newcomer came from, and we don't want them deciding to switch sides when that happens. In fact, we prefer that they have a huge beef with their original country, so they want to kick its ass even more than we do. Immigrants who fit this description are great front-line fighters when they finally get to blast whatever society they hated enough to come here to escape.

Dual citizenship is allowed, however dual citizens are not allowed to run for any form of elected civil/political office or have a state services job which entails any handling of slightly sensitive information.

Dual citizenship is allowed in Five Cities, as we respect other peoples and wish to allow them to go back to their home country, go live somewhere else while remaining a citizen in Five Cities.
I only made this to post on a topic.

For native born citizens with two native parents, yes; it is.

But otherwise, especially if you are an immigrant yourself, you have to renounce your native citizenship first to get Noriven, and vice versa.

Technically, Ujangians can have two domestic citizenships, this is special for those who are born in the Federated States in Ujang, where a citizen may have the national citizenship, and the State citizenship (for example, this guy is an Ujangian, and also a citizen of the Tsardom of Jakall).

In terms of foreign citizenship, Ujangians cannot have foreign citizenships other than the national and State (if applicable) UNLESS;
1) They are born in foreign lands, thus entitled to a foreign citizenship
2) The citizenship is either from an Ujangian Commonwealth, or one of the Associated States.

However, those who want to work in the government sector or in the police and armed forces must renounce their foreign citizenship.

Same in Lillorainen. If the other country recognized dual citizenship, it's absolutely no problem to achieve citizenship of the Federation in addition to one's own. This being said, only holders of dual citizenship can have their Lillorainian citizenship revoked (in very rare cases), for it is impossible to become stateless in the Federation.
Since Lillorainen's geography is currently being overhauled a 'tiny' bit, most information on it posted before December 12, 2018, is not entirely reliable anymore. Until there's a new, proper factfile, everything you might need to know can be found here. Thank you. #RetconOfDoom (Very late update, 2020/08/30 - it's still going on ...)

In general, no -- although there are rare exceptions. Citizenship in the Commonwealth is not cheap. One may only become a dual citizen under very specific (and complex) legal circumstances which perhaps 1 to 3 in a 100,000 would qualify.

It takes a lot of effort to gain Full Citizenship. It can take up to 1200 hours of coursework even for the children of Full Citizens alone, and sometimes up to 7 generations for refugees from hostile states. That effort can be easily lost. Inevitably one either chooses to be a Narlander (with all the it entails) or one adheres to the loyalties of another state.

Iciarosians are generally not allowed to hold dual citizenship, but it maintains a (slowly growing) list of countries it accepts dual citizenship with.

That said, holding dual citizenship is not a crime, at least on first instance. If someone being a dual citizen is discovered, they are just ordered to surrender one of their citizenships, and if they don't, Iciarosian citizenship is automatically revoked without criminal proceedings. Once this has happened once, though, taking steps to attain a second citizenship again without informing government bodies can be a cause for prosecution.

Dual citizenship is allowed, however, one must renounce all foreign allegiances before taking office in any government position, and that includes citizenships.

Additionally, because this a theocracy with Violetism as the official religion, you cannot have dual citizenship with a nation that has an official religion other than Violetism. For example, dual citizenship with Canada or France would be allowed because they have no official religions, but not with the United Kingdom or Iran.

Whilst Annaterra does not strictly outlaw dual citizenship, there does exist cultural stigma from Annaterran nationalists towards those who hold it, and there is a cultural emphasis on assimilation over cosmopolitanism.

Furthermore, someone who holds dual citizenship may not run for any elected office, nor may be appointed to the House of Aldermen.
