There's also an expectation that an immigrant would give up their original citizenship if becoming a naturalised Radiatian, however this cannot actually be enforced so there are some people who hold citizenship of Radiatia and another country.

We will check. We will also make sure to submit all of the needed paperwork if an immigrant comes here and does his renunciation in our offices.

The reason we are so strict on this is simple: We figure that someday, we're going to invade wherever a newcomer came from, and we don't want them deciding to switch sides when that happens. In general, no -- although there are rare exceptions. Citizenship in the Commonwealth is not cheap. One may only become a dual citizen under very specific (and complex) legal circumstances which perhaps 1 to 3 in a 100,000 would qualify.

It takes a lot of effort to gain Full Citizenship. It can take up to 1200 hours of coursework even for the children of Full Citizens alone, and sometimes up to 7 generations for refugees from hostile states. That effort can be easily lost. Inevitably one either chooses to be a Narlander (with all the it entails) or one adheres to the loyalties of another state.

Once this has happened once, though, taking steps to attain a second citizenship again without informing government bodies can be a cause for prosecution.
