Some of the major empires of the ancient world:
The Rhomanian Empire: founded by the city-state of Rhomanum in Savoie. At its height, it covered modern-day Avon, Savoie, Bruzenland, Okerne, Freiderichsland, and Gilan. Collapsed sometime in the first century of the Common Era.
Gilani Caliphate: Islamic empire founded by Gilan, stretching south into modern Aldastan and portions of Jamjah. Collapsed in 1918.
Gaipajama: Hindu empire that united Sethru and Jamjah. Conquered by the Avonians, and split in two after independence.
Here are current list major events for the region:
1752-1762: The Ten Years' War. A conflict between the United Kingdom of Avon and the Kingdom of Savoie which also drew in other nations. Equivalent to the IRL Seven Years War.
1775-1781: The Astorian Revolution. The Avonian colonies in Astoria win a war of independence and found a representative republic, one of the first in the region.
1790-1800: Savoien Revolution. The Savoien monarchy collapses and a chaotic period of republicanism eventually ends in the creation of a military dictatorship.
1800-1815: Wars of the Savoien Revolution. The new Republic of Savoie engages in armed conflict with Avon and other Andalasian nations
1860-1865: The Astorian Civil War. Southern states attempt to secede from the United States of Astoria over the issue of slavery. The war ends with the abolition of slavery in Astoria.
1901-1903: The Qajar War. Comorostan falls into civil war which is ended by the intervention of foreign powers, including Avon and Savoie.
1914-1918: The Great War. Freiderichsland, Latveria, and Gilan versus Bruzenland, Avon, Savoie, Rusanyia, and Okerne(?). Equivalent to the IRL First World War
1918-1923: The Rusanyian Revolution & Civil War. The Rusanyian Empire is toppled by a communist government which forms the Union of Andalasian Soviet Republics (UASR, or Soviet Union)
1925-1941: First Comorostani Civil War. Comorostan falls into a multi-sided civil war which is eventually ended by international intervention to prop up the monarchy
1949-1951: Latverian War. The Union of Andalasian Soviet Republics invades Latveria. Bruzenland and Avon send troops to stop the invasion, with support from Astoria. The war ends with Latveria divided between communist east and capitalist west. This is commonly seen as the beginning of the Cold War. Equivalent to the IRL Korean War
1951: First nuclear weapon in the region (Astoria)
1951-1991: The Cold War. Regional competition between the United States of Astoria and the Union of Andalasian Soviet Republics for influence. The regional version of the IRL Cold War.
1953-1960: Second Comorostani Civil War. Ends in the victory for the communists (supported by the Soviets) and the formation of the People’s State of Comorostan
1957-1965: Sangalan War. Sangalese nationalists launch an ultimately successful war of independence against their colonial ruler Avon. The war devastates Sangala.
1962-1975: The Bush War. The newly independent white settler colony of Lyrobia faces insurrection from black nationalists. The war ends with the victory of the white apartheid regime but leaves Lyrobia a regional pariah. The equivalent of the IRL Rhodesian Bush War
1968-1998: The Troubles. Nationalist unrest in Elyria, the northern region of Avon. Equivalent to the IRL Troubles
1980: Ultra-Violet terrorist organization founded
1985-1987: The Windmill War. The United Federation invades Buchien, its former colonial ruler. International intervention ejects Federation forces.
1988: Jundallah terrorist group founded
2000-Present: The Sangalan Civil War. The ongoing conflict has led to the collapse of government authority almost everywhere outside the capital. The vacuum is filled by various warlords and Ultra-Violet.
2002-Present: The Aldastani Civil War. Religious extremists launch uprising against the government. The war continues intermittently, sometimes temporarily stopped by international intervention or World Assembly-brokered ceasefires.
2008-Present: The War on Terror. Astoria begins wide-ranging campaign against terrorist groups like Jundallah and Ultra-Violet following Ultra-Violet terror attack on Astorian city of Williamsport
2011: Astorian special forces kill Ultra-Violet leader and founder Eli Palmer
2014-Present: The Latverian Crisis. Pro-Rusanyian and ethnically Rusanyian groups in eastern Latveria launch an armed rebellion against the Latverian government, supported by Rusanyia.
