I really hope that North Korea isn't too badly affected by this.

I doubt that this will affect Kimmie the Third and his close buddies.
Also, I doubt that NK exports livestock or pork meat...

At least it won’t affect the global industry all that much-after all, how much does NK export?

Not good for the people of North Korea, though. They’ve been through so much already. Give them a break.

Do North Koreans even regularly eat pork? Sounds like it'd a luxury item for them to begin with.

The truth about NK is it's a goddamn party paradise but they don't want any old lame ass to crash the feast of luxury and downright hedonism going down so they put out this whole repressive regime schtick.

True story, there's pictures on Kimstagram.

Meanwhile..

South Korea will send snipers to the border to shoot pigs infected with African swine fever
The government will also use thermal vision drones to search for pigs carrying the disease near the buffer region that divides the Korean peninsula
South Korea has repeatedly asked Pyongyang to join a collective effort to fight the transmission, but its northern neighbour has not responded

The common peasants are the ones who will starve. Kim and his lackeys will always get to eat.

Just in regards to how much this is hitting China.. I imagine this is the key impetus for China coming back to the negotiating table as pork imports are one of the retaliation tariffs imposed by China on the US..

September’s producer price index (PPI), which was also released on Tuesday by the National Bureau of Statistics, sunk further to minus 1.2 per cent from a year earlier. China’s pork crisis sent prices spiralling to their highest reading since November 2013 as consumer inflation reached 3.0 per cent in September, according to official government data released on Tuesday.
The world’s most populous nation has been ravaged by an outbreak of African swine fever that added 1.65 percentage points to its consumer inflation last month.
The 3.0 per cent mark is the upper limit of Beijing’s target for whole-year consumer price index (CPI), placing more pressure on the government to source new supplies of pork, with African swine fever predicted to wipe out half the pig population by the end of 2019.

Yeah so they're already consuming reserves and the state media is messaging that actually everyone should eat less pork, not because of the swine flu, the extent of which they're trying to hide, but for health reasons. As it is pork prices have risen to the extent that many can't afford it anyway, especially with tariffs on imports.

Pork is exceptionally important to the Chinese Diet.

It has been speculated that the spread of Islam stopped in Western China specifically because of how important pork as a food source is in the rest of China.

The Chinese character for 'home' or 'family' is essentially a pig under a roof.
