I would out of curiosity but I just don't care enough to pay for it, for the cost of one I could probably buy a nice bottle of whiskey.

got one when I was like 6. It said I was like 15% west african, 5% Amerindian, 50% MENA, 27% southern european and 3% something else. Note that these stats may or may not be completely accurate as I'm basing it off memory, but this is close to what I got if it isn't exact. Not really interested in getting another DNA test though, as I identify as Hispanic whether a majority of my DNA is Spanish or not. I was raised latino, not arab. All my experiences growing up were that of a Hispanic and I speak way more Spanish than Arabic so that's all that matters to me. Besides I have more important things to do like spending the money on alcohol so I can forget that my life isn't bad. Because you can't have a bad life if you have no life at all

I typically use black as a race and African-American as an ethnicity. So Barack is racially black but not ethnically African-American (his father is Kenyan and his mom is Anglo-white American), while Michelle is both racially black and descended from black slaves brought to the US.

One method of race classification categorizes people as Caucasoid, Mongoloid, and Negroid. Arabs, Assyrians, and other groups in the Middle East region are grouped together with white people as Caucasoid. Like all racial classification, it is a subjective opinion. There are no objective standards for designating race.

There is a basis for grouping Europeans, West Asians, and North Africans into one overarching category in that West Asians and North Africans are genetically closer to Europeans than to other neighboring populations like South Asians, Central Asians, West Africans, etc. That being said, the “oid” system is too simplistic and is based more on physical appearance than genetic distance or culture differences.

2017 edition

In light of Rojava Free State's poll on skin tone, and the periodic age polls in NSG, I thought I'd bring back the race poll to see if anything's changed in the last two years.

Some of the poll options may seem a bit unorthodox; the interest here is more focused on social interactions between various races on these forums than any stricter biological definitions, so technically the question is more "Are you a person of color or not, and how do you identify?" FYI I'll be using the US Census Bureau definition of White. The poll will be open for 60 days.

I don't like the term African American all that much because the ethnic group it refers to is really not African beyond genetics. Their culture is American as hell, moreso even than many white people. They aren't black either, but instead are a dark brown color on average, with some having olive or golden skin. Really black american and African American are both misleading terms

Nowadays, yes. The areas of the US that contain the most people who identify their ethnicity as "American" are West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee, which is where all of those people settled.
