A Galactic civil War (FT OOC OPEN)

I am wanting to make a civil war happen in a space setting. This isn't spefically a star wars setting even with the Galactic Civil War title. It would more likely be like the Horus Heresy in Warhammer 40K (Or 30K if you're that way inclined). So Premise!

The Premise:

The basic idea of this thread will be that the Chimeran Collective has been at peace for two hundred years, except for border skirmishes, due to the unstoppable force of the Legiones Astartes. These super human warriors are brought together to fight and live side by side in 13 distinct legions. Each legion has been recruited from a specific set of worlds in the Collective and each has its own unique culture and style of fighting. The Legions are led by the mighty War Leaders, the 13 sons of the Emperor, who through his use of rejuvenation tech has managed to stay young for the past four hundred years. His sons have also used this tech and have been beside him in keeping the peace for the past two hundred years.

But now the peace is starting to fracture increasing raids from aliens and other human empires on the borders have put tension on the army and the Astartes. The need for more soldiers is known but ignored by the Emperor who continues to banquet and party on Chimera as if the universe outside does not exist. This has angered several of the War Leaders and now they plot open rebellion against their Father. Others are prepared to fight to preserve the Collective and the peace but this split has left the brothers bitter and angered towards each other. From their Legions home worlds they look with furtive eyes towards the coming war and now it is time soon the Collective will explode in conflict and there will be nothing to stop the flames.

Where others come in:

So the basic premise is we start a few days or weeks before the Civil War actually begins. Like i said in the Premise the Legions are recruited from regions of the Collective and have their own unique style and culture so if you want to play one of the 13 legions (8 will be playable) then you can. But the main idea is for other parties to become involved in carving up the Collective and helping or fighting the Legions as they try to carve out their own plot of land.

This is very much a random idea of mine so I'm not putting a sign up in yet but only people who can type more than one sentence responses are a must if you wanna join in. But right now I'm just wanting to plan and get some ideas.

Also sorry for the laid back attitude of this first post I'm just putting words to an idea :)

Depends what sorta magic i don't want game breaking magic but I'm a warhammer 40k fan so I like mild stuff thats like magic, like physic powers and such.

Also i'm working on the four non playable legions at the moment so expect some news about their make up and names soon!

Well at the moment I'm debating about the actual number of legions and how they will be split. My main idea at the moment is the four non-playable ones to be split between loyalty to their War Leaders father the Emperor and to one of the other War Leaders, called Ragnar.

Ragnar would be leading his Legion to war against the Emperor in an attempt to usurp the throne from their basically immortal father (can be killed just not by age). He will start off on the Eastern Fringe of the Empire with his Brother Perturabo. These two have very similar style of legions designed to break the backs of their enemies and also strike with lightning quick force to decapitate the head of an enemy force. Their legions number 100,000 strong Legiones Astartes and about 500,000 soldiers of the Imperial Army each. Their legions are the Iron Warriors and the Steel Hearts.

The two legions still loyal to the Emperor are the legions of Horus and Raknar. They start in the centre of the Empire having been recalled to the homeworld of Chimera recently to deal with a local insurrection in the home system. Horus and Raknar are both dedicated warriors loyal to their father to a fault and are willing to kill their own brothers to achieve their fathers goal of maintaining peace in the Collective. Horus is the Eldest of the Emperors sons as well and is seen as the most handsome and fierce-some of his warriors having led pacification fleets and campaigns across nine systems in about three years. Raknar is the youngest of the Emperors sons and is a bit of an idealist.

So basically the two factions that i'll be in control of are Ragnars attempt to place himself on the throne of the Collective (Empire) and Horus/ Emperor in their attempt to maintain the status quo. Other legions controlled by players can pretty much do what they want, they can join one of the factions or make their own and of course there is always the opportunity to invade and take systems from the Empire.

Any major differences in policy that might lead people to favor one side or another? Or is it pretty much just a matter of who wants to be in charge, with outsiders mainly getting involved because they want profit or territory or influence?

Also, how firm are your plans for the outcome? Have you decided who you want to end up on top, or are you just going to let things go and see how it comes out? It'd be problematic if everyone contributed big fleets to a faction you're planning to have crushed by the end of things.

Policy is a bit of a difficult one, yes they are very similar in that both want to maintain the status quo of an Emperor ruling the Collective. But Ragnar wants to bring about a less absolute monarchy and bring in the beginnings of democracy to the Collective by forming a parliament and laying the control of decision making on them than leaving them solely with the Emperor. Meanwhile the Emperor wants to maintain absolute control of the Collective with all major decision making resting on him and only allowing small scale advisers to contribute to other decisions.

Outcome wise I just want to create a little chaos so any outcome is good for me!

End Goal: The UHP is a large power that sits directly besides the Collective. Many of the words that sit next to the UHP are excellent sources of hydrogen, a vital component to starship fuel. Though powerful, the UHP would not have been able to secure any sort of victory that was not a pyrrhic victory against the Collective before they fell into civil war. However, with the Collective now fractured and weak, the UHP see's this as an opportunity to gain new colonies and resources. Under the guise of peacekeeping along their borders, the UHP has deployed their 1st Fleet and the highly decorated 3rd Fleet, along with both of their respective ground contingents and an attached supercarrier, the ISS Glory Of Dawn. It is the hope of the UHP to capture the planets nearest to them, under the guise of protecting their borders in this time of instability and war, and establish puppet nations on these planets that will be friendly towards the UHP in the future, as well as allow the extraction of natural resources by UHP companies.

End Goal: The UHP is a large power that sits directly besides the Collective. Many of the words that sit next to the UHP are excellent sources of hydrogen, a vital component to starship fuel. Though powerful, the UHP would not have been able to secure any sort of victory that was not a pyrrhic victory against the Collective before they fell into civil war. However, with the Collective now fractured and weak, the UHP see's this as an opportunity to gain new colonies and resources. Under the guise of peacekeeping along their borders, the UHP has deployed their 1st Fleet and the highly decorated 3rd Fleet, along with both of their respective ground contingents and an attached supercarrier, the ISS Glory Of Dawn. It is the hope of the UHP to capture the planets nearest to them, under the guise of protecting their borders in this time of instability and war, and establish puppet nations on these planets that will be friendly towards the UHP in the future, as well as allow the extraction of natural resources by UHP companies.

End Goal: Olimpiada suffers from extreme overpopulation and pollution in its few settled systems, and has difficulty settling new worlds due to the extreme likelihood of their glassing by other nearby powers. As such, they are always looking for more planets to settle outside of their current sphere of influence. Size of force (limited to pre-designated sizes if choosing legion): Initially Military Command Starfleet will be commiting the 12th and 13th fleets alongside the 1st and 2nd Assault Carrier groups with additional forces forthcoming should they be required. Military Command Starfleet is expected to continue maintaining border patrol and internal patrol units for as long as it is able. Areas of patrol will increase as territory is secured and ships are available. The United Earth Cargo Authority will provide supply and transport vessels as needed.

The United Earth Starfleet is expected to provide limited support consisting of survey operations in secured territory, diplomatic outreach with other states aiming reduce the Empires influence and medical support in the form of hospital ships. It should be noted that should any occupied zones prove stable enough then Starfleet may assemble prebuilt starbase modules to enhance logistical capabilities in hostile territory.

The United Earth Army is commiting a force of 100,000 frontline combat troops as an initial force with a further 100,000 rear-line personnel assigned to establish a large logistical base within occupied territory. Garrison units will be assigned as needed to inhabited planets though additional front-line units may be slow to deploy.

United Earth Intelligence is expected to provide some support, assets within the Empire itself should be expected to provide intelligence when possible though the accuracy of theses reports should be questioned. Furthermore it is expected that covert units are to be inserted behind enemy lines for intelligence gathering purposes, assassination of HIgh-Value Targets (where possible) and sabotage of cruicial enemy assets. If possible, UEI is also expected to ecourage dissent within local populations and inspire acts of sedition that may tie up enemy intelligence and military assets in supressing rebellions within their own territory.

End Goal: Being a smaller neighbor of the Empire Earth has in the past seen its territory threatened by Imperial forces, including those of the legions during particularly violent incursions into UEG territory. Earth thus aims to secure its territorial sovreignty through the capture of poorly defended border systems and the destruction of infrastructure in an Empire tearing itself apart.The fact that an election is coming up totally has nothing to do about it nor does the surge in polls that would occur should Earth actually take territory off of the Empire.

Yeah it's possible to kill the War Leaders in my universe. They are genetically altered super humans donning power armour but they can still be killed through the same ways as other men, except poison but that's because I find poison to be a cheap death option. The Emperor is a bit trickier to kill as he has been constantly altering his genetics to make himself immune to poisons as well, but a well placed round to the head should finish him. Though you gotta get past the praetorian guard first.

And everyone is accepted so far.

Right If no one is going to join as a legion i'll just go with four legions for now and let others maybe join in later. I'll get the first IC post up tomorrow when i have time.

End Goal : Since the Dark Age of Technology, the faeries have existed. They were the creations produced from the union of human and eldar with the help of genetic manipulation. They were once the symbols of harmonical coexist between the two races but then some unfortunate events happened led to the crumble of human-eldar relationship, regarded as abominations, the faeries were hunted across the galaxy by eldarkind and humankind.

In desperation, the faeries fled to the hostile region of Ghoul Stars, where no eldars and humans daring to venture. They survived, adapted and built there home there. Currently, they are waiting for the time becomes right for them to arise and extract vengeance on those that used to murder them to the point of near extinction.
