Cooking Corner 2

Postby Eclius » Thu Aug 22, 2019 10:29 am

This is a continuation from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=431365&hilit=cooking+corner&start=1075

I figured I should make a thread that allow NSers to share cooking recipes, advice, as well as a general discussion thread for food and dessert in general. What are the weirdest things you've eaten? What are your favorite snack and meal recipes? I'm not certain if there is already a thread on this that is active, if there is, please lock this. Thanks
We do NOT use NS stats since it's not the most accurate reflection

An amazing thing I discovered: Scrambled eggs with pesto. You whisk the eggs in the bowl, add pesto sauce, and cook it up. The flavor complements the eggs perfectly.

Adding ham or turkey to mac and cheese makes for a great combination.

Peas would work too. Peas actually go well with a lot of pasta dishes.

Making sloe gin at the moment.
Been a weird weather year so the sloes are ready now in some places.

Also found a recipe to use the green fruiting bodies of walnuts with grappa to make an interesting liquor. I don't like grappa so I wonder if this will be an improvement.

If you can get hold of damsons then they make a better final product with gin than sloes. In my opinion anyway.

Spinach lasagna with cream cheese. Always a good recipe to go to. Use fresh spinach only. Add layers of Swiss cheese and topped with Mozzarella and marinara.

I made a chow mein on Monday from a recipe new to me. It was absolutely outstanding. Only change I made was green beans for mange tout (because I didn't have any) and doubling up everything because there is no way the recipe actually feeds 4.

Hope you're all in the mood for some leaves tonight cause I got a little recipe called the strawberry poppyseed salad.

So you're gonna need a few things for this. You'll need some poppyseed dressing which you should be able to find at Vince and joes. You'll need chicken. You're gonna need strawberries as well as pineapple, blueberries and mandarin oranges. You'll need romaine lettuce. And you'll need some grape tomatoes. And you'll need pecans.

So first you'll wanna put three cups of romaine into a bowl, aight? Once you've done that, dump some poppyseed dressing on the salad and toss it. Now that it's tossed, you'll wanna go grab a scale and measure out 3.5 grams of chicken. Dump that in the salad. Next, get a cup of strawberries and throw it in, then a tablespoon of pineapple, tablespoon of red grape tomatoes and a tea spoon of oranges and a handful of blueberries. Lastly, throw some pecans on the salad, and you're done.

Finally, sit down to eat the salad and consider the fact that I do that everyday at my job and it's hellish as I bounce between making sandwiches and salads and preparing drinks, which three people should be doing instead of one.

Pesto really is versatile, isn't it?

My favourite pesto based recipe -- and the simplest -- is cooked pasta, couple of dollops of tomato pesto, season with salt and pepper (I use quite a lot of pepper, but that's just me), whizz around the pan with a tiny splash of olive oil, serve with a sprinkle of hard cheese.

Perfect for a filling lunch or a really quick dinner.

I add cauliflower to mine, and make a mac-and-cauliflower cheese combination. Really good, if you don't overcook the cauliflower.

I'd like to share my own Sloppy Joe recipe:

You need the following: 1 package of Ground Beef, 1 whole Onion, 3 or 4 cloves of Garlic, Olive Oil, Salt, and A bottle of Ketchup.

How to make it:
First, you put the olive oil on the frying pan and stir it around so it fills around the pan.

Second, you peel the onion and take out two layers of it, cut off the ends, and cut it into small pieces. Repeat the same with the garlic, take out the skin of it, cut the ends and chop it up into small pieces.

Third, get the ground beef and take it apart before putting it on the pan. Put some salt around the top, but not too much since the ketchup will serve give it its salt.

Fourth, start to heat up the pan with the ground beef on high temperature and add the garlic and onions.

Fifth, once the ground beef has been cooking for about 5-7 minutes, add the ketchup, up until it mixes into a sauce with the olive oil.

Sixth, stir around for about an extra 5-7 minutes until it's well done and it's ready!

You could also add bell peppers to it as well, and it's even better to have the sloppy joe with toasted hamburger buns. Add some lettuce and tomatoes, and even melt some cheese on it to give more variety and flavor.

Hi I'm rojava, and I'm about to share with you another one of my many recipes. I call this one the turkey sandwich. You're gonna need some tomato basil bread, turkey, Chipotle mayo, romaine lettuce and sliced tomatoes.

First you're gonna wanna throw down a couple slices of the tomato basil bread. After doing that, apply Chipotle mayo to both slices, and then add some romaine lettuce to the bottom. Throw a cup of sliced tomatoes on top of that and then place two rolled slices of Turkey on the top slice. Once you've done that, just put the slides together and that's it, you're done

And drench the shit out of them with maple syrup. Cook them on a panini press and watch out for the car that nearly hits you while Steve Harvey calls you a dumb bitch.
