this one?
Etiquette Rule #34: Release Saved Seats First Come, First Served
With all the time we Muni Ladies spend on public transportation - looking out the window to avoid the person next to us - it's one of life's unexpected joys when we get to sit next to a familiar face. However, trekking across town on mass transit with a conversational compadre is an ideal scenario that doesn't work unless your Muni mate boards with you. Saving a seat for a companion who you know will board at a future stop is a nice gesture, but it's like standing in a parking spot while your friend circles the block: etiquette states that every passenger is entitled to any empty space. You may be able to keep the reserved slot next to you if it's not rush hour or if it becomes obvious you are saving it for someone who needs special assistance. But, if someone wants the seat you're hoarding for your homey, you shouldn't bar the early bird from getting the worm. If you're lucky enough to snag two rump rests, open one up - you may be sitting on that good karma on your next ride.
Muni Manner: Give up saved seats to passengers on mass transit. It's the safe and courteous thing to do.
