NS Arena Bowl VI - Signups

NS Arena Bowl VI Signups

Hello Arena Football Lovers, World Bowl latecomers and general football fans! I'm Lisander, the champion of the last Arena Bowl, and I decided to give this tournament a chance, since it has not been played for a long time.

Some time ago, I spoke to the previous organizer, Free Republics, and it allowed me to re-issue this event. I think the time is now, as the World Bowl XXXVII begins to approach a definition.

About Arena Football, I'll quote Shadowbourne, host of Arena Bowl IV:
Shadowbourne wrote:1. Each starting lineup shall have eight players on both sides of the ball. Line players and backfield players except the quarterback are expected to play both offence and defence.
2. Skill players such as wide receivers and cornerbacks and linemen are expected to play both ways except for one defensive player, who shall be designated as the "defensive specialist."
3. The quarterback can only play on offence unless an emergency situation arises in which the quarterback must play on defence or special teams.
4. For RP purposes, the field is 66 yards long (50 yards between goal lines and eight-yard end zones) and 85 feet wide. The goalposts shall be nine feet wide with a 15-foot high crossbar.
5. Your squads shall consist of no more than 24 players.

Why Arena Football? Small rosters are easier to manage. It should be good for newcomers to NS Sports and for those, like Lisander, that doesn't have a Pro Football League. It's a good opportunity to start the planning of a local league. In addition, it's a chance for those who missed the deadline for the World Bowl, and for World Bowl participants who are eliminated before the playoffs.

I'll keep host bids open until the end of World Bowl, in July 29. Signups deadline will be at the discretion of the host. IF AND ONLY IF no bids appear by July 29, Lisander will host this event.

Consider this post signup for Lisander.

ABANHFLEFT
Host bid for the NS Arena Bowl VI

About Abanhfleft
Abanhfleft is a massive nation located in the region of Antarctica, famous both for its massively multicultural heritage and a united national identity. Abanhfleft is a presidential bicameral republic whose president is both head of state and government and elected to a single seven-year term. Abanhfleft is also notable for its variety of landscapes from the urbanized island city-states of the Capital Islands, among which are two of Abanhfleft's largest cities, Riuwiee and Releinthi; to the tundra and taiga of Fleftic Antarctica, the lush and hardy forests of Mezaladbyi Province and the dry deserts of the Myleishi Plateau.

Experience
As Abanhfleft, I have hosted the 20th Handball World Cup and the 5th Under-18 World Cup. I have also hosted the Campionato Esportiva XXI through my puppets Fhulghamous Peninsula and Copper Cuprum. I also have a dedicated sports newswire and have scored a couple of seasons of American football for both Abanhfleft and Pridnestrovia (aka Trans-Dniesters). However, this will be the first time that I will be scoring an arena football tournament, but as always I hope this to be a great learning experience.

Scorination
I will use the latest version of Xkoranate. RP bonus will be generous and cumulative. Quality will be favored over quantity. If there are rankings and the community decides to use them once again, I will of course oblige. However, if the community decides to start fresh, I will also oblige this.

Format
There will be a group stage followed by a knockout stage. Following the trend of the most recent Arena Bowl, teams will be ranked based on the number of wins they have accumulated in the groups. In the event that there is a tie between two or more teams, here are the tiebreakers.

H2H results
H2H points difference
H2H goals for
Overall points difference
Overall points for

In the event that both teams are still tied after all of the tiebreakers have been exhausted, I will hold an actual playoff that will be considered part of the IC tournament.

The knockout stage will be single-elimination and, depending on the number of teams, may or may not have a third-place playoff. Teams will be seeded according to group positions, then points and tiebreakers as necessary. No teams from the same group may face each other in the first knockout stage round if team numbers justify more than one group.

This is the tournament format depending on signup numbers:
  • 4 teams: 1 group of 4, double round-robin for 6 games; top 2 advance to final
  • 5 teams: 1 group of 5, single round-robin for 4 games; top 2 advance to final
  • 6 teams: 1 group of 6, single round-robin for 5 games; top 4 advance to semifinals
  • 8 teams: 2 groups of 4, double round-robin for 6 games; top 2 per group advance to semifinals
  • 10 teams: 2 groups of 5, single round-robin for 4 games; top 2 per group advance to semifinals
  • 12 teams: 3 groups of 4, double round-robin for 6 games; top 2 per group plus two best third place teams advance to quarterfinals
  • 14 teams: 2 groups of 7, single round-robin for 6 games; top 4 per group advance to quarterfinals
  • 16 teams: 4 groups of 4, double round-robin for 6 games; top 2 per group advance to quarterfinals

Feel free to ask any questions.

We reach the number of 16 signed nations.

Judging by Banija cut-off times for World Bowl, potential bidders have about 24 hours to make their bids. If not, Abanhfleft will be the host of NS Arena Bowl VI.

About UCR
UCR is a massive nation located in the region of North Africa, famous for its war-torn history and indulgence of culture. UCR is a republic whose president is both head of state and government and elected to 2 year terms.

Experience
As UCR, I host the Bear Territory Sports Tournaments. However, the only tournament we have completed was an arena football tournament.

Scorination
I will use the latest version of Xkoranate. RP bonus will be generous and cumulative. Quality will be favored over quantity. If there are rankings and the community decides to use them once again, I will of course oblige. However, if the community decides to start fresh, I will also oblige this.

In the event that there is a tie between two or more teams, here are the tiebreakers.

In the event that both teams are still tied after all of the tiebreakers have been exhausted, I will hold an actual playoff that will be considered part of the IC tournament. This would be modeled after the American Football Wildcard Games.

The knockout stage will be single-elimination. Teams will be seeded according to group positions, then points and tiebreakers as necessary. No teams from the same group may face each other in the first knockout stage round if team numbers justify more than one group.

This is the tournament format depending on signup numbers:

5 teams: 1 group of 5, single round-robin for 5 games; top 2 advance to final
6 teams: 1 group of 6, single round-robin for 5 games; top 3 advance to semifinals; Top team advance directly to final
8 teams: 2 groups of 4, double round-robin for 8 games; top 2 per group advance to semifinals
10 teams: 2 groups of 5, single round-robin for 5 games; top 2 per group advance to semifinals
12 teams: 3 groups of 4, double round-robin for 12 games; top 2 per group plus two best third place teams advance to quarterfinals
14 teams: 2 groups of 7, single round-robin for 14 games; top 4 per group advance to quarterfinals
16 teams: 4 groups of 4, double round-robin for 16 games; top 2 per group advance to quarterfinals

Feel free to ask any questions.

So, why do you think to plagiarize the Abanhfleft Host Bid is a good option?

Unless you can write a proper Host Bid, with your own words, I'm not really into accepting it. I think you should read the Guide to Sports Roleplaying to understand it better.

While I did use the words of someone who knew how to write it, the ideas expressed within are mine. These were items I fully planned to implement, as I have done in the past. But if you would like a rewrite I can do it.
