My relationship with children is as follows: GET IT THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME. Seriously, children are a ranking reason why life sucks. I thank biology that not only am I male and not cursed with the possibility to be infected with the little parasites but that I'm also the gayest motherfucker around so I NEVER have to worry about this shit with my sexual partners. I genuinely do not want children within earshot of me if at all possible. Fucking hell, the sounds they make just grate on my ears and the kindest thing in my mind is to mummify them in duct tape four layers thick. Kids elicit nothing but spite from me as a natural reaction. Thank fuck they can never enter into my happily childfree personal life.

Okay fine. Here's a better argument. Many of us don't actually hate kids. We just have a lower tollerance for ill-behaved rat bags than many women. And most kids who are ill-behaved rat bags are rat bags because their mothers (in my experience, it's almost always the mum) lets them run a muck whilst doing absolutely jack shit to atop them. There are many well-behaved toddlers who I absolutely adore (once again, in a non-peadophile manner) Most men love their own children, to death, but despise the children of mothers who let their kids run wild. Who's a worse parent? The father who loves his kids but despises the kids who run a muck because their mothers let them? Now, who's a worse parent? The mother who doesn't supervise her kid? Or the father who deapises the mothers of unsupervised kids. Now, the vast, vast majority of mothers will supervise their children, and should be commended for that, but if you're comparing the (mostly) childless community of NationStates to most, or even many, fathers, anything is free gain I guess...

2. It is indeed a bad idea for a guy to raise kids because women do intuitively like kids a lot more than men on average.

Kind of. On average women like babies a lot more than men, and that gap goes way down with marriage and childbearing. In other words, men tend to like their own kids a lot more than average.

The poll is a bit biased.

It asks for an explanation when one is of the opinion that toddlers are positive but not when one is of the opinion that either they are tolerable or demonspawn.

At least make it balanced.

In answer to the poll, I think they are a net positive as most grow into productive members of society and can bring joy and comfort to many. Being a toddler is just a stage in human development and they should be celebrated along with any other age group so long as they aren't actively and knowingly hurting themselves or others.

Why are we getting caught up in all this? The very idea of an organism being seven years old necissitates that it was born seven years beforehand.
