Political Priorities for 2020 Elections

Postby Jirmeria » Thu Jul 18, 2019 10:06 pm

I am curious what the U.S. (and maybe Canadian and Mexican as they are the U.S.'s closest neighbors) users of NationStates political priorities are for the 2020 elections. What issues matter most to you? For me I have a lot of issues that I consider my priorities, and they aren't the only issues that matter to others or me.

I have a list of what I would consider my priorities, that I may post later in this forum (warning I am a leftists who considers the democratic party and liberals to be rightwing and for the republicans to be off the chart, but even if you and I disagree, I would at least like a civil discussion)
Economic Left/Right: -9.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.28

Getting as many conservatives into the courts as possible has to be my top priority. Particularly in the Supreme Court where two liberal members are in their 80s.

1. Getting Trump out of office.
2. Keeping control of the House.
3. Taking control of the Senate.

Two is nice. One is a must have. Three is, IIRC, not something I personally can vote on this cycle (I may be wrong there), and anything else... depends a great deal on what kind of ballot I get this year.

I'll add:

4. Undoing the harm Trump has done, at every level, and in every sphere. About the only thing Trump has done that I don't want changed is the return to the Moon, but even that needs to have its deadline softened, and plans to go to Mars must still be made.
5. Finally progressing farther than we did with Obama, especially with regards to climate and environmental regulations.
6. Making a full apology and restitution to the migrants and asylum seekers harmed by Trump's policies.

Why would it be politically convenient for democrats to remove Trump in favor of Pence? That goes without saying for the legal reasoning needed and the institutional instability that follows after removal of a head of State

My priorities are that Bernie Sanders gets the Democratic nomination because I'm convinced he is the best candidate to beat Trump, and that more progressive Democrats win in primaries for elections to the House and the Senate. And of course I want to see the Democrats maintain control of the House and gain control of the Senate.

Remove the current occupant of the White House. Take back the Senate, hold the house.

Mind you, if Biden wins, well fuck.

*sighs* You are either trying to be extremely pedantic with the difference between Election Day in United States and Inauguration Day, in which case I would be obliged to point out that my meaning is clear, acceptable, and in common usage. Or you're just attempting to state you prefer that Trump be reelected, but doing so in a very silly manner.
