So, how did you come up with name of your nation (or account for those only here for the forums)? The source of Bread Herbert is an inside joke between me and my friends.

New Bremerton is named after Sir James John Gordon Bremer, the British navy officer who claimed Hong Kong Island at Possession Point for the Crown. He is the guy who effectively founded Hong Kong, which China is now attempting to tear down. It's a homage to British rule in Hong Kong. The "New" is there because there is already a town in the U.S. called Bremerton, as well as a NationStates nation by that name.

the guy who did this was a guy named walker and the nation was named in his honor, and since it's basically a fort.. it became walkerfort

Initially I want to use "Samudera" (a Sanskrit word that means 'ocean' or 'sea') as the name of my nation, but since it is already taken.....I add "Darussalam" behind it. Not out of reverence to Brunei or anything, but since it's Arabic for "Abode of Peace", I decided that I like the full meaning of it: "ocean, the house of peace" or "ocean where the peace resides".

There is a lake in rural Pennslyvania called Page Lake, I was there a few times. When I went back to NationStates and decided to make a new nation, it came to mind, because I was imagining a big northern nation of forests and lakes like Finland if Finland was the size of Australia, so as I imagined the landscape I thought of the lake.

Welllll, my last nation was a psychotic dictatorship that had like 40% of deaths at ‘disappearance’ or something like that, so I decided to make a more democratic nation where everyone was equal, but it seemed lame to call it “equalia” so I removed the u and made it “eqalia”

When I was a kid I conceived of a fictional universe in which two great powers compete for control of all the multiverse, after making a nation based on the 'protagonist' good guys I got bored with answering issues reasonably and made a nation based on the generic evil empire dudes and ran with that, much more fun.

I think the name was a placeholder but I never came up with a better one, I just wanted something that sounded vaguely antagonistic. I was like, twelve.
