Oregon Republicans facing arrest

Postby Vassenor » Thu Jun 20, 2019 1:14 pm

So it seems that the Republican Caucus in the Oregon State Senate has fled the chamber and possibly the state in order to prevent quorum and thus leave the chamber unable to function, specifically to block the passage of a Climate Change bill. As a result, the Governor has authorised State Troopers to arrest them in order to return them back to the Capitol.

Now ordinarily this'd probably be the end of it, except now at least one Senator is issuing threats to kill any Trooper that attempts to do so.

This is just striking me as incredibly childish, even by the standards that Republican caucuses have already demonstrated in the era of the Trump Regime. Plus the whole thing about the supposedly "Law And Order" focused party now having elected representatives threatening to kill law enforcement officers for attempting to carry out their duties. So in short I don't know whether to laugh or be utterly disappointed. But I digress. What do you all think about this matter?

Republicans don’t believe in free and fair elections and it’s sad they are willing to shutdown the government because the people had the audacity to not give them the majority.

I hope they do arrest them and the legislator who threatened state troopers is arrested and charged with inciting violence

I'm gonna say it: The Dems have been much more ridiculous Since trump has been elected than the Republicans.

Examples:
Unfounded claims that Russia interfered with U.S. Elections
Advocating for fully open borders
The Supreme court vacancy

Need I say even more?

Incredibly stupid that they would leave beacuse they don't want to even vote on a climate change bill.

They aren't facing arrest, as they aren't being detained and charged with a crime. Fix the title.

I didn't say I was defending them, I'm pointing out how much more ridiculous the other side has been since Trump was elected.

They aren't going to be arrested because they haven't committed a crime. Ffs.

He didn't "incite violence". He threatened violence. There is a difference.

You're not defending them, explicitly.

But you are refusing to engage the actual topic and instead interjected unrelated nonsense for reasons unclear... I guess. Just for fun?

Democrats did this before back in the day. It's not a common tactic, but it's not unheard of.

Given that the Dems have advocated destroying the Electoral College because they got butthurt in the last election, A Few Republians leaving their state is minor compared to what the dems want: Tyranny By Majority.

The Electoral College is garbage.

Yeah, Definitely unfounded claims on open borders

The Vacancy itself caused a lot of problems because the dems couldn't take another Supreme court nomination, going so far as to make a false rape accusation against Kavanaugh. Overall, They reacted completely ridiculous during that time, more ridiculous than this oregon thing.

I seem to remember Wisconsin Democrats attempting to do something similar, except without the Death threats.

Tensions were already smoldering in the Oregon Senate Wednesday, when Sen. Brian Boquist, R-Dallas, poured gasoline on the situation, suggesting he would shoot and potentially kill any state trooper sent to haul him unwillingly back to the Capitol.

Wow. There's so much Kool Aid in that post I don't even know where to start. Although the fact that you're trusting the Washington Examiner is probably a bad start.
