I'm not sure how this could happen unless Alex Jones received emails that he never opened or if he had the illegal material but he accidentally sent it. I think it more likely that someone else sent him illegal stuff quite a while ago.

I keep my inbox empty for most of the year, I only ever need it for a few things; so I can't stand to allow it to get cluttered. Fortunately, I receive few things because I aggressively unsubscribe to stuff. It'd just absolutely ruin my day if I were tricked into opening something like that. What are private citizens supposed to do in that situation?

If it was gmail, I'd want to click a "report this email" link and have Google (or whichever service provider it is) take care of it instead, as opposed to involving myself in any way if that can be avoided. I expect that its more hassle than I'd want to contact law enforcement and be on the phone with them for hours, file reports or participate in lengthy interviews with them, etc. I suppose that is worthwhile if it clears your name.

Most unsolicited emails, I delete without looking at it, if I don't know the sender. I think I'd angrily rant about a crisis like this almost as much as Adolf Hitler is rumored to have done when word got back about Rudolf Hess' flight to the UK.

Conspiracy theorist and InfoWars host Alex Jones sent child pornography to the lawyers for the families of the Sandy Hook tragedy, their lawyers said.

The law firm representing the families of the 2012 mass shooting, stated in court documents filed Monday they have contacted the FBI after discovering child porn in electronic files Jones recently turned over to the Sandy Hook families as a result of their lawsuit against him for calling the tragedy a hoax.

Jones publicly responded on a broadcast of his show that he is being framed by Chris Mattei, the lawyer for the Sandy Hook families and went on making what Mattei and his law firm, Koskoff, Koskoff and Bieder claim are threats against them.

“You’re trying to set me up with child porn, I’ll get your ass,” Jones states on the broadcast. “One million dollars, you little gang members. One million dollars to put your head on a pike.” Jones then pounds a photograph of Mattei and goes into a rant at one point stating, “I’m gonna kill…”

Jones’ lawyer, Norman Pattis, denied his client was threatening Mattei or the Sandy Hook families and urged people to watch the broadcast for themselves
