What are the national dishes of your nation?
According to Wikipedia, a national dish may be considered so for the following reasons:
—It is a staple food, made from a selection of locally available foodstuffs that can be prepared in a distinctive way.
—It contains 'exotic' ingredients that can be produced locally within the country.
—It is served as a festive culinary tradition that forms part of a cultural heritage—for example, barbecues at summer camp or fondue at dinner parties—or as part of a religious practice.
—It has been promoted as a national dish, by the country itself, such as the promotion of fondue as a national dish of Switzerland by the Swiss Cheese Union (Schweizerische Käseunion) in the 1930s.
Keep in mind that, realistically speaking, it is impossible for most countries to have a singular national dish, especially for larger countries (China, the United States, Russia), due to the cultural diversity that varies between differing regions. Even small countries usually have at least three recognizable national cuisines.
The national dishes of Hyat range from empanadas to poi, but our most famous dish is pizza, due to its historical importance (despite not being a Hyati invention) and also in-part due to Hyat's cheese industry.
