TurtleShroom had a spy service famous for this. Even foreign cartoons still showed this from time to time. Most importantly? This still worked.

That's what Anatoly Maxtor told himself as his stakeout continued.

In the vents. This was not part of his training.

Anatoly Maxtor is a small, male, snake-necked turtle who worked for the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As a male of a matriarchal species, he was often consigned to the low priority tasks, and this was a situation that was no different. TurtleShroom, fresh from a brutal Civil War and completely unwilling to wage a campaign, nonetheless declared steep interest in this Crusade due to the possibility of Skyhooked's innocence in the initial terror attack that began the conflict.

TurtleShroom had already authorized Cardinal-Primate Jason Icfella to act on their behalf as a goodwill spiritual ambassador, but they needed more direct information. The government had already spent fifty thousand Skillets ($12500 USD) procuring publicly available information on the war courtesy of the Chuckmen. This allowed them to keep in touch without actually establishing a greater presence in the war. For this reason, the public and occurring, un-encrypted knowledge of the ongoings of the Crusade were fully known to the quiet observers in the Great Bountiful Empire.

Anatoly was a male, new to the department, small, and happened to be the closest turtle next to the committee doling out assignments to be picked.

Boy, was it cold.

Anatoly was a cold-blooded reptile (although certainly warmer than the delegation of Rapture), and it had become colder as the day went on. The heat of the tropical sun and temperatures within and without led to someone turning up the air conditioning.
Anyone who has ever opened a kids' animal book knows what happens when reptiles get cold. Anatoly was already becoming sluggish. He laid the neck that earned his species its name on the metal of the ducts. It was longer than his body and gave him an easy means to peer out the narrow wall vents into the meeting.

The sticky notes and small golf pencil he had with him had already been made full of information. Anatoly, like most diplomats in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was trained in memory retention and keen observation. Even if the papers were gone, he'd recall most of it.

As the cold really set in and his strength faded to "sleepiness*", he realized he had to blow his cover or "nap" right there. TurtleShroom was a party to this war anyway, so he was entitled to be here if TS had responded to the public invitation. Let's just hope everyone was on their good side today.

*CLINK* *CLINK* *CLANK*

CLANG!

The metal vent in the wall fell to the floor with a metallic banging, which immediately stopped the steadily intensifying anger among the delegation. It was somewhat miraculous, as it appeared to simmer down the tempers of the men present enough to keep the meeting going.

The awkward silence was broken as Anatoly, now warmer, outstretched his huge neck out. He crawled his body to the edge of the vent, revealing that he was, indeed, a turtle and not a serpent.

"............uhh, gentlemen. Mah name's Anatoly** Maxtor, deputy-diplomat in trainin' and representative'a the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Great Bountiful Em-par*** of TurtleShroom. It is a plea-shuh to make y'all's acquaintance..."

Anatoly put caution to the wind and fell out of the vent on the wall, head and body tucked into his shell. He left his papers in the vent. The air blew them out into the dining room that served as the meetinghouse. No injuries were sustained.

"If one of y'all could kindly put me on the table, or on a chair with some books, I'd be grateful!"

A baffled bystander, still shocked at a talking turtle watching them, picked Anatoly up and placed him where the others could see.

* = Turtles don't sleep like or anywhere as long as most animals. They "power off", so to speak.

** = This is a Russian name and it was spoken perfectly. While TurtleShroomers tend to have strong, Southeastern USA/Dixie accents, they almost never mispronounce Russian terms or names.

*** = Empire, has pronounced phonetically in Anatoly's accent

The palace gardens were beautiful at this time of year. And they were kept beautiful by quite a number of people, quietly working behind the scenes. One such individual was the gardener, currently trimming the hedges by the north wall of the palace. He passed out of view for a moment, dipping into a nearby bush. When he reemerged, he... continued trimming the hedge. And he proceeded down its length, plying his trade with considerably more finesse and enthusiasm than he had done previously. Until he reached the end of the hedge, and went around to the other side. To trim it further, one would assume. And this task would take him past the intakes for the ventilation ducts, which he would clear of any sort of vegetation or dirt.

Around an hour later, the "gardener" was sitting in a vent, unmoving. The corridoor outside was brightly lit, and he made sure not to move too close to the vent. He had been moving around the vents quite a lot in the past twenty minutes or so - leaving a tiny, spherical device at each grate. Now, he looked at a small screen, making sure to angle it so that the light it emitted did not fall onto any portion of the vent interior that could possibly be seen from outside the grate. He noted down each guard, every time they were seen on one of the camera feeds. He listened in on their conversations, taking notes of each man's manner of speech - tone, inflection, vocabulary. By the end of it all, each guard had a small mental profile dedicated to them. One was carefully selected.

Now, he saw the man in question approach his position. Putting away the screen, he readied his hands - one empty, one grasping a stun baton. With his seemingly empty hand curled as if to grasp something, he waited for the unfortunate guard to pass within his view. He had chosen this spot based on the fact that no more than one guard was ever in the corridor at any one time. Now, he flicked his empty hand, and the grate flew open silently, in a flash of green light. The guard, meanwhile, was dragged inside by a sudden, mighty force, and the grate swung shut after him with a soft click. The guard had flown into his attacker's arms in a split second - now, with a hand covering his mouth and a stun baton jammed into the side of his neck, he briefly spasmed, before falling limp.

The faux gardener dragged the guard some distance into the vents, before securing his arms and legs using steel ties. His mouth, too, was bound with a strip of adhesive tape. Next, the attacker placed his hand on the guard's face. His appearance seemed to briefly flicker, before shifting to match the guard's appearance perfectly. The gardener's jumpsuit melted away, transitioning through a set of gray fatigues, then resolved itself into an exact replica of the guard's uniform. The assailant even seemed to become slightly taller - the vent now seemed a little more cramped. Newly-disguised, he checked his replica of his victim's watch. He still had plenty of time before the next guard passed through the corridoor. Grabbing the guard's gun, he crawled out of the vent, and resumed the patrol as if nothing had happened.

Soon, his path took him past the entrance to the conference room. Stern-looking guards flanked the massive double doors, their weapons at the ready. The infiltrator didn't linger - that would be pointless, and draw attention. As he passed, however, he seemed to flick a speck of dirt off his gun stock. On the other side of the doors, something quite undetectable formed. It had no physical presence whatsoever - just a point. An entrance, if you will. And the exit had just manifested itself somewhere within the agent's clothing - in a small, sound-insulated box, occupied by nothing save a dictaphone...

The Federal Bureaucracy of Yegla Islands is a nation forged from a war-torn, ownerless state into a gleaming bastion of bureaucratic pseudo-socialism, scientific advancement and personal freedoms. Can be seen as a strange amalgam of Cuba and Norway, with patently ridiculous tax rates balanced out by a plethora of government-funded amenities for its citizens. Religion is ignored, the military is powerful beyond reason, and the government manages to function despite its monstrous size. All this balances on the shoulders of an ex-revolutionary, questionably-human, mostly-benevolent dictator, along with his ragtag band of ministers. Oh, and they've got magic.

This nation uses NS stats. Sort of. In a general kind of way. Canon policies may be found here.

Before John Mercer even bothered to answer the question by Lady Franz, Mercer whipped the dust from his face causing by the horrid scientific abomination falling through the ceiling, which he barely see with SilverNet reacting fast and standing in front of him with a missile launcher manifesting on his right shoulder with a red visor covering his right eye. "ATTENTION XENO! This is a private meeting between international leaders and nobody but them are allowed to make an appearance here. So, please return to your homeland and have a wonderful day. If not, you shall be forc-" SilverNet was cut off by John Mercer changing his expressed disgust at the creature to a pleasant and welcoming demeanor. "Sorry for my guard here." Mercer look at SilverNet in a disapproving tone. Returning his gaze upon the creature with a warmer tone. "He tends to get a little hostile, when he is certain that my immortal life is in danger. And yes, you may grab a chair and come set with us. SilverNet if you please." John Mercer ended with a command, SilverNet stood down with all his gadgets fading away. The robot groaned in frustration at the hypocrisy of such statement, a little hostile? Don't be foolish, you were the true aggressor here, master. He thought to himself as he found a spare chair and placed at a opening near where the Sultan was sitting. "So, where were we? Ah yes! The war. How is Zkto, Drakkin?" Asked John towards the War Minister's rep as he took this incident as a strategic maneuver to avoid further waste oxygen on the Veisers.

Skyhooked wrote:Azure Beach.

As crusader forces were decimated by combined effort of Skyhookedian milita and allied divisions, men-at-arms and capital minutemen decided to advance at charging pace, shouting battlecries and firing their weapons at general direction of enemy knights, until they finally engaged them in a melee combat. Meanwhile, armed vehicles proceeded with chaotic attacks at spots they found vurnerable, while sustaining some losses from robotic cavalry.

Meanwhile, one of the enemy knights, who was shot by Commander Jane's heavy machine gun fell right near her position and managed to wound driver with his sword. Jane didn't exactly like this, so she took out her machete and lunged at Andreas Leontiou, aiming for a weak spot in his armor.

As for rangers, they were first to see enemy reinforcements, so they radioed for backup, hoping, that they would arrive to the beach ASAP. The military HQ dispatched another 2000 Capital minutemen, 300 minutemen battlemages and 5000 men-at-arms from Los Diablos and 1000 Cheetahs mechanized milita units and 300 Mr.Handy robots. Together with them, came 300 Battle Bonded warriors. 100 Hornet drones would fly to support them from the air. They try to arrive as fast as they can, however they are not able to teleport and this will take time.

Perhaps it's for their good, as a chemical attack occured on the battlefield. Rapture bombers deployed lots of sarin right on the fighting grounds, and not all men-at-arms had gas masks. When their first wave started to suffer and die, this slowed down the charge, making others to stop and just proceed to shoot hostile forces from relatively close distance. As gas spreaded, they stepped back. Still, at least 800 men-at-arms died or became incapacitated from poisoning despite general toughness of Skyhookedian constitution.

Good thing, this was a double edge sword. Enemy forces suffered too.

Prior to the gas attack, the forces of Skyhooked came running. Heavily occupied with melee combat with the Knights, Veise paid them not much attention and continued to rain mighty 740 Mercier fire upon Exodian forces and Skyhooked's rear guard (as Veise saught not to conduct friendly fire). A plan to send in the Yageurs for close-up gunfire was considered but would not come to fruition. Shortly after the attack, the chemical attack happened. After the dust settled, it was seen that the soldiers of Veise were gone. They had retreated to recuperate and were en route to return to the beach to guard the beachhead from a 20 mile distance. Great fortifications began to be constructed by the engineers.

"What in god's name..." Astre muttered, staring with trepidation and confusion. "

"That's interesting," Franziska commented, scratching her silver hair.

Silvernet, with his magnificent white hair and human-styled eyes, was initially mistaken by the turtle as a man in some sweet power-armor. The "man" startled Anatoly when he got up near his face and brandished some sort of weapon. With lightning reflexes, he yanked his head into his shell and made his feet follow suit.

The Rapture Republic wrote:"ATTENTION XENO! This is a private meeting between international leaders and nobody but them are allowed to make an appearance here. So, please return to your homeland and have a wonderful day. If not, you shall be forc-"

Then it hit him. Having turned his extraordinarily long neck sideways to fit it into his shell, he could see distinctively mechanical parts on Silvernet, including the sidearm that had just... spawned from his shoulder. This was a sapient AI. The fear melted, replaced with zeal. He came out of his shell and hissed* harshly, glaring at the robot before his attention was turned to Mercer calling the abomination off.

At least it was polite. He wouldn't be.

"Why don't y'all take that sidearm and die-rekt it-"

The Rapture Republic wrote:"Sorry for my guard here." Mercer looked at SilverNet in a disapproving tone. Returning his gaze upon the creature with a warmer tone.

"He tends to get a little hostile, when he is certain that my immortal life is in danger. And yes, you may grab a chair and come set with us. SilverNet if you please."

Struggling to ignore the abomination now reaching for him and picking him up, he visibly smiled- as much as a turtle can without lips -at Mercer.

"Your hospitality is appreciated."

He looked to the Sultan. The Sultan being human, Anatoly observed protocol recognizing the Dominion of Man in diplomacy. He fully outstretched his neck upwards, which was a long as he was, and lowered it parallel to the table, pushing his plastron* upwards from the table slightly bending his two front feet to incline his body. It didn't take a genius to recognize that the turtle was bowing.

"Honuhed Sun Lawd," Anatoly began, assuming that was the Sultan's manner of address, "I take that's yer mannuh of address? Anyway, I am humbled to be in your presence."

He rotated his body, crawling to face the other humans, repeating the bowing process.

"Gentlemen. -and ladies," he said, noticing the female delegation for the first time. "Ah'm... eh, just a-droppin' in. The Great Bountiful Em-par, considerin' this Crusade a lower priority 'cause of the trauma of the Civil War that just ended, replied to your invitation too late to be invited. Bureaucracy, ya know. TurtleShroom is closely watchin' this here war despite the IMFA's low designation class 'cause of the possibility of the Hookmen being innocent! We don't have no evidence of this yet, but the possibility must be considered, raht?"

He paused to collect his bearings and, ignoring Silvernet, looked to Mercer.

"Sir," he said, his files having no information on him, his office, or Rapture itself, "if I may give my opinion. Under TurtleShroomian law, usin' chemical dubya-MD's*** ain't a war crime if it's on a military target. Which it was, those Oriental tah-gets were home to in-dust-tree centers and strategic beachheads that would be needed for invasion."

"-BUT, the issue I have, and likely the gentlemen hee-yuh have, is the way you made the attack known without disguisin' it. If it was a surprise attack, sure. If it was announced, okay. -but askin' somethin akin to 'do y'all like far-works' fo' WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION is, in TurtleShroom's eyes, dishonorable."

He paused.

"Not illegal. Not a potential prosecution. Certainly a part of war and peace. -but dishonorable."

"Also, to refer to all those poor Chinamen, othuh kinds'a Asians, and the general civilian population of the commies of the Pan-Asian States as CATTLE?! ABOMINABLE! As abominable as your toastuh! I hate commies more than you do, but good glob, man, this ain't no Inner'net browsuh-game! We ain't just playin' make-believe! Those are HUMAN BEINGS, PEOPLE who ain't all enemy combatants. REAL PEOPLE! With lives! Families! A purpose! Equal under the eyes of God! One particular tah-get seemed to have missed and hit a civilian town! You laughed!"

"Yet you call these souls CATTLE? You LAUGHED?! This is the mindset of a ruler? What's ya national classification? PSYCHOTIC DICTATORSHIP?"

"Ah! I belive Zkto' is quite well, Mercare! He actually has a letter he wanted me to deliver today..." Drakkin takes a moment to take the letter out, before handing it over...

To Chancellor Mercer

Honorable Chancellor, I fear for the safety of Uvoan. There is a... Conspiracy afoot. I would relay more, yet I fear for more than just the nation, and my cause... I have reason to believe that an ancient group has resurfaced. This is all I can pass along by letter, and even then, only by the most trusted of my advisers. I shall pass more along when I do get a chance, but it is minimal for now.

From the Minister of War,

New Asan
The streets of New Asan were crowded with cars, people, and elevated rail-lines. Locomotives slid between warehouses, on elevated freight-lines. Freight trains, the veins of industry. Ever since the war, the city had been rebuilt from the ground up. It was now the thriving, beating heart of an industrial nation. Steel-mills cast clouds of smog, and locomotives hissed ash and smoke into the streets below. The rumbling of car engines cast a thick, black, smoke behind them...

But it was this that made New Asan the Industrial City. Coal, and ore, flowed into it... And out flowed steel. Heavy freight-trains rattled out of New Asan, and over the Bazto Bridge. This massive supsension bridge, supporting eight tracks, had a central span of 750 meters. Two, four-lane roads guided road traffic in and out of the city. Underneath it, dozens of trade-ships passed per day... And the heavy roar of this industrial beat was what had Zkto' staring out the window of his personal train. The engine had thrown a bearing, and Zkto' was impatient. He wouldn't leave the safety of the two armored train-cars, but...

Zkto' sighed, as he took a deep drink from the bottle on his desk. And then the bridge beneath the train detonated. Zkto' was thrown into the side of the traincar, as the bridge collapsed. Thousands of tons of steel, plunging into the frozen river below...

The train hit the water like a tank-shell. Zkto' shook his head, as water began to flood in. He rushed to the door, and hit the emergency release. The door blasted open, and then Zkto' was free. He kicked to the surface, as the train sunk to the bottom of the river...

"Well... That's one way to start." He muttered, before starting to swim for a bank, where response crews were already massing.

The sultan, seeing the tensions in the room resign further, quickly raised his voice.

Mercer, Astre, shush! We are not here to pin blame. Mercer your actions are horrible. It doesn't matter if the enemy find out if your allies don't understand either. Even if the attack is less effective because they found out. The men you save can be used to continue attacking, even if they took less castle for the enemy."

Than, a turtle fell through the wall. Surprised, he watched as it began to talk, and sat next to him. Hearing it introduce itself, the sultan shook its leg(paw, foot, whatever).

"Welcome. Any and all diplomats are welcome to this summit. Now, moving past the Rapture issue. It is causing tensions to flare to a slightly more than safe level. We will address it later. Anyone else have information?"

Listing to the turtle’s speech, he nodded.

“The turtle is correct. It is not the attack, but the lack of proper warning that is the issue. But we must move on. Anything else?”

Putting a group of low-level characters to stand against a level 5 or 13 characters will not earn you victory but a quick defeat, when playing this game of war. For which, I have not the clue why you feel compelled to insult the victor in order to defend the defeated parasites in my surprise attack. When I pulled the temporary invincibly card from my deck. They lost and that is all. Stop crying about it. Also, the player of the Pan-Asiatic States may have panicked in choosing his cards and ended up with the same group of weak parasites that were killed by my level 14 character. But there is potential in the next match between me and him he could cause a loss for me." Said John Mercer, in response to the crying turtle's complaints. Mercer would recall the last statement cry from the turtleman about him laughing and questioning his leadership."I'd laughed only because it was humorous that my opponent thought it was smart to a play a worthless level 0 card with a herd of cows, once again, to face my more powerful characters that were a swarm of kamikaze bombers costing him a loss and embarrassment." After mentioning this, John Mercer would indulge the butthurt no longer. He regretted showing the Turtleman kindness, as it would have been to play one of trump cards against him, obliterating him thoroughly if he only knew that the Turtle was going to be poor sport regardless of how rude or polite he was.

Drakkin takes a moment to respond to the turtle dropping in blinking, before he turns to respond to Mercer...

From the Minister of War,
Zkto Zovban

Done with the ungrateful abomination, John look at Drakkin. He gave a small smile, when hearing Zkto was in good health. However, that smile quickly faded away, when reading the letter handed to him, showing deep concern mixed with anger on his face. Mercer used telegraphy to communicate this to Drakkin. "If my friend soon succumbs to theater, inform me immediately and these heretics shall know the Leviathan's wrath. None shall survive in this injustice upon my closest ally and friend. " He said telegraphically, as Drakkin would be feel like he is repetitively being burnt to death by hellfire. Mercer would deeply apologize for this, noting he isn't the best at containing his emotions, when a friend is in danger.

Drakkin simply nods, understanding perfectly well... Friends are rare, afterall...

"Not that I can think of, at the current moment..."

Franziska sat still and wiggled her crossed legs.

Drakkin spares a glance at the leaving prince, making a few more mental notes, before turning his attention back to the Sultan...

Kafair Royal Palace

As Nathaniel sat and listened, he took a moment when there was a pause to speak again to the Uvoan members with a smile.

"De pakol uvoi jazn pazat jooken."

As the meeting progressed, it became more and more tense until all of a sudden a turtle fell out of an air vent. Without batting an eye, Nathaniel kept watching the entire group discuss and argue over issues. When the Veiser delegation started to get up, Nathaniel cleared his throat to draw attention back to him. When everyone looked over at him, he stood back up before speaking.

"I believe we possess something that may be useful for many of you gathered in this room today."

With that, Nathaniel reached into his briefcase and pulled out the manila envelope from earlier. Opening it, he spread the contents on the table. Before the entire group gathered around was aerial photographs of weapon emplacements across many of the south east Skyhookedian territories.

"What I have here is over four hundred photographs taken of weapon emplacements and other fortified positions on many islands. If you are interested, I have been authorized to sell these to any of you all gathered here. The price for this information would be 7.5 million NSD."

With that, Nathaniel started to gather the photos back up so that those gathered couldn't see all of them.

Dessuar-Elsass wrote:The armored rush had turned into a bayonet charge. Defensive positions were destroyed with massed artillery and cannon fire, while those attempting to be heroes were simply shot down with heavy machine gun fire or shot through the head, like the rest of their comrades. The ships found themselves under withering artillery fire, some of which included knockout and tear gas to make evacuation that much more difficult.
The gas sprayed by the forces of Rapture was unwelcome, and 3,000 more men would die that day.

Their strong-willed charge might just have led to the Elsassians’ demise, however.

Fire from increasingly-heavier naval artillery fire and now guided surface-to-surface missiles would stream from the ships towards Elsassian artillery positions, while laser-and-gun CIWS systems shouldered much of the attacks. The initial counter-attack was soon joined by more missile launches and railgun barrages from the main fleet offshore.
The Exodian force, still mid-retreat, bit back hard, returning fire viciously with explosives and heavy automatic weapons as the Elsassian infantry made their rapid advance.

With their luck, only a couple more squadrons were lost to legitimate fire, with the ships only sustaining minor damage to its weapons systems and minimal damage to hull structure.

However, Rapture’s gas attacks had left them in a sorry state- over 2,500 personnel were lost due to absorption of sarin through their skin and asphyxiating, both on the ships and on the ground. While gas masks and goggles had protected them from Elsassian tear and knockout gas, there was little that could be done for the majority of the force when trying to contend with sarin gas, besides delivering antidote, trying to get out of the affected area, and hoping for the best.

I’d say we made quite a bit of progress on our end and haven’t taken too much losses; but then again, we are but a limited peacekeeping force, and this amount of losses could easily be interpreted as too much. Our infantry’s still healthy and strong, but the amount of armor in our inventory has dwindled- and it being our only large advantage, I don’t think we’re deploying again anytime soon until an auxiliary force comes to aid us and replenish us with heavier weapons and firepower from the homeland. We’ll be distancing ourselves a bit from the main battlefield in order to regroup and perhaps receive support from you.

We were forced to give up our advances due to the strategic bombing run we called in on Azure, as well as Veiser chasing us all the way back to our troopships. I’d like to say we won in that regard, but war’s war, and a meat grinder we saw... Our ground force was hit pretty badly with the sarin

God bless. Stay strong and stay sharp. We’ll be commissioning a new wave of peacekeeping units from Exodia- a few superweapons are on their way, I’m glad to report.

As the Skyhookedian army had found a time to finally engage the Knights in a charge thanks to the incoming allied forces, the Knights held their ground as they raised their shields to tank the bullets, some explosives and plasma munitions causing casualties as it broke through their armour. With their ranged crossbows, grenades, throwing knives, dartguns, rocks, sling bullets and slingshots, and backed by the standing 1,500 archers using normal munitions the Knights defended from their range as the Skyhookedian forces charged.

That all changed when the sarin gas came in. As it landed, the Commander had called for the men to activate the filters in their helmets. A thousand or so of the were either too late or having difficulties in readying their filters, and in that, 650 had perished, with lines quickly refilled from the Teuton army to the ranks of Salvatrucha. As the Skyhookedian forces got into melee range, the standing Knights then holstered their ranged weapons, drew their longswords, maces, spears, gladius, knives, katanas, machetes, whips, knuckle dusters and other melee weapons and charged them back, ready to fight hand to hand.

Meanwhile, As Antonis was attacked by Jane, he went to pull his sword out of the driver in an attempt to parry the attack. "You know, I would never lay a closed fist on a lady, but luckily I have a blade instead, and you are indeed no lady!" He spat out as he drew his pistol crossbow and fired at her before attempting to get up and ready his sword.

Another Knight, endowed with an orange bandana on his helmet had arrived without a melee weapon. More so, he was a proud participant in many martial arts, and even won several UFC and MMA tournaments. Many called him "Crazy Camilo", as nobody would expect he'd survive unarmed in the chaos, but the oddly lesser-armed Knight, Camilo Romacci, was ready to engage the enemy hand to hand, with merely no Weapons but his fists

As the battle became more hectic, at least 2,000 more of the remaining cavalry from the Teutonic side was sent to the field to deal with the vehicles, as numbers were faltering from liberal use of explosive munitions with a few landing accurate hits.
The Knights of Mare Nostrum are an order formed in 1189 centered around islands in the Mediterranean after the Knights Hospitaller and Templar merged, along with the integration of other knightly orders, serving as a militarized Papal State which utilises what is essentially the Christian version of Sharia law.
BREAKING NEWS: A tragic terrorist attack in Vatican City has taken the lives of 180+, including our very own Pope Francis. The forces of the Knights would find that their great supporting fire from the Veiser Expeditionary Force had dwindled to periodic artillery fire, which was a mixture of traditional shelling and purple 'magic missiles' that were functionally a bit like common artillery but they had a far greater magazine to unload and a shorter reload. But Veiser soldiers themselves were nowhere to be found, as they had retreated. Now shacked up, guarding the Knight's rear, and keeping a 20-mile watch on the beachhead, Veise was figuring out how to solve its supply situation. For some dumb reason or another, they couldn't open a portal on the field, so the next best thing was to open a nearby portal. Nearby being the island of Trinidad and Tobago, which was currently occupied by Chuckian volunteer crusaders. Hoping they wouldn't be as penny-pinching as their government, Field Marshal Jean Marigold sent a stoic and plain request for military access to their occupied territories.
The Chuck wrote:"I believe we possess something that may be useful for many of you gathered in this room today."

"For what reason am I to not doubt the merit of this information?" Franziska asked. Personally, she desired to scam the Chuckian delegates themselves as information was not something to be withheld, but she would intelligently pretend that she was weary of being scammed herself. It would set up the Chuckian delegate in a vulnerable position, easier to manipulate, if things went the way she desired.

"Comrades, it is an honor to speak to you today, despite the many attacks conducted by our enemies to subvert our national interests to protect the struggle in defense of the revolution! Indeed, friends and countrymen, it has been a long and winding struggle.
...

Whilst previous leaders of this mighty Federation face at least one earth-shattering crisis in the course of their political careers, the beginning of mine has already seen many. From the victorious war against Israeli Zionism, to the March uprising, and now this defense of our Skyhookedian allies. This regime has been marked with triumph in its agenda to promote peace and stability not only in our home islands, but across the world!

...

And what of this recent massacre on our people in Western China? A thousand more dead at our feet bled to justify that the nations beyond our sacred socialist traditions cannot be trusted. Those naïve citizens of our Federation who imagine the West as a people of peace are entirely out of touch with reality. Those who live at our border do not have the luxury of such delusions, seeing their troops closing in on us just across it. Our dear but late Supreme Commissary, my good friend, Fernando Lawrencio, who lay dead at the murdering hands of the Oberkonig of Anglomir did not have that luxury! This is an attack we cannot leave unanswered. With every passing day, Westerners are preparing for war. It would be madness for us not to do the same! I implore our Armed Forces: through the strength of our navy, our air force, and our peacekeepers to carry-on this glorious defense of our Fatherland and his allies, from the shores of Skyhooked to our own.

As our fathers and grandfathers expelled the Western powers from our nine nations, so shall we protect these lands again, and expel their crusading hordes from Skyhooked.

Let us once again tell the Occident:

This is Asia. We will stand against imperialism!"

Kafairian Frontier
The stealth submarines unleashed their payload and then quickly regrouped to avoid a counterattack. While parts of their accelerators were jammed, there were no major injuries to their operational capacity. Their well-placed cover had taken long enough to find for them to hit and run the Kafairian armada. It was now up to the enemy fleet on whether to pursue the assailants or continue the ground army's landing toward the Pan-Asiatic satellite-base.

The initial defenses lay in ruin, but orders were given to five companies of the 46th Nuevayangtze Echelon "Tokhang" Frontier Division to defend the beaches to the death. Out in the open, the soldiers used every bit of rubble as cover, firing mounted KN-3 Light Machine Guns from the hip. Lines upon lines of machine gun operators dug holes in the ground and held the line. However, the Kafairians had strength in numbers. They inevitably pushed forward. The Pan-Asiatic army once again began to institutionalize tactics they hadn't used since the Pacific Wars. An order came through the radios of those five companies: mount a suicide charge and inflict as many casualties on the Kafairians as possible, even if it meant taking just as many or even more casualties than they.

In the cover of a timed and coordinated barrage by the Company D of the 32nd Korean Echelon "Han Chiu" Field Artillery Division, Subdivision A; bayonets were mounted on rifles low on ammunition. From the treeline, voices screamed: Wei Renimin Fuwu!

Hundreds lunged from bushes armed with knives between the teeth, holding the rifles of their dead comrades; sprinting to be the first to serve the People. In this cesspool of fanaticism were men of differing beliefs toward what such disregard to one's own life would grant them, united by a singular belief in the magnanimity of the Communist Party. The Shintoists believed that the spirits of their ancestors would carry them into heaven if they committed themselves to an honorable death this way. The Christian Socialists believed, like Peter the Zealot, that this was their defining moment of servitude to the Kingdom of Christ. The atheists believed their individual lives were worthless anyway, and that in this act, they would all be immortalized by their Fatherland. One and all, they were what the Fatherland considered to be good sons of Asia.

As the Kafairian army pushed into the mainland, they encountered the same level of in-depth defense tactics used by the Pan-Asiatic guerrilla army on the Knights Mare Nostrum frontier. A network of trenches and caves fiercely protected the Pan-Asiatic base. When a line of defenses broke, the artillery guns would sound and the remainder of men would retreat to join with the defense-line behind them to save lives and ammunition.

The Generals had postulated it: if III Corps fell there would be nothing that could stop the Kafairians from destroying the Pan-Asiatic base altogether, shattering Pan-Asiatic command in the region. And the Kafairians had already smashed through I Corps.

As commanded by their Secretary-General, the men and women of the Pan-Asiatic Army would inflict as many losses to the Kafairian invaders as possible in order to force their withdrawal. Every second was a fight for their lives.

Very soon, the Kafairian invaders would meet a wall of defenses they simply would not be able to break.

Azure Beach
The land had been decimated into a wasteland of smoking houses, broken glass, and scattered gunpowder. During the daytime, Asian troops were picked-off by Knight "archers", they learned to fear the crusaders' use of explosives. The infantrymen of the Pan-Asiatic Army took all comers, fighting for their lives in the foxholes made by the raining mortar and grenade fire coming from the yellow side of the beach. Massive casualties were experienced due to the attacks commenced on multiple frontiers by Knight cavalrymen and grenadiers. But the Greater Orientals carried-on; relentlessly retorting with their use of ambush tactics and in-depth defenses. For every pillbox taken-down by crusader firepower were two more machine-gunners covered in grease and leaves popping-out of the very ground to spray rounds on the imperialists when they thought they had broken through.

However, here, just as on the Kafairian front, losses on the Skyhookedian side of the war racked-up as each day passed. Munitions ran low, food supplies depleted. I Corps was forced to collapse in on II Corps rather than risk encirclement, paving the way for crusader forces to assuage the second line of defenses. The crusaders, as the Asians anticipated, could and would march victoriously into the olive horizon, unaware of the deadly traps that awaited them ahead. Mines were placed in darkness, artillery guns were covered with dirt, and Sentinel companies prepared to lure the enemy away from their main groups to engage them in close-quarters mech-versus-mech combat.

Aspirant Second-Class Wen Yu of the PIU 30th sat quietly at the corner of his pillbox. With him, was an old friend, Nguyen Quan. They had served two tours of duty together in Israel, and had come to be good friends. Nguyen had snuck-in a bottle of old Whiskey into the fortification, and, as was their tradition before their every battle, they each took a swig and promised not to leave each other's side. It seemed like a childish oath, especially to the traumatized veterans of the 11th, most of whom had seen their buddies die in front of them (and had made vows not to make any more buddies), or the ideologically-brainwashed 'disciplined' 25th. But this oath was something very dear to them. To them, war wasn't just about taking lives. It was about saving them. Quan, one of the Combat Engineers from the 30th's Company C, knew this best. He knew that war wasn't always about blowing things up. It was also about building them up. Within both of them was an undefined greatness. Conscripts, they tried to make sense of it all, and found war's meaning in this testing of one's will. The survival of the fittest, to them, made them better men.

Section Maharlika
June 16th

On the night of the greater retreat, the treeline was scattered with rangers of the 11th, who had rendezvoused with their allies in I Corps to consolidate a stronger frontier. Soldiers carried HAMR-2 "Hammer Two" Anti-Materiel Rifles for taking-down enemy mechs, and GSS-19 Scout Sniper Rifles for taking-down infantrymen. Equipped with thermal sites, the rangers sat on the enormous branches of Skyhookedian trees to cover their position. With them were Aspirant Second-Class Wen Yu and his friend Nguyen Quan.

Sector Maharlika was covered with trees, the perfect spot to stage an ambush. Locating the sector would be hard for the crusader forces, but this was Skyhookedian soil, and nobody knew the battlefield's topography better than the Skyhookedians themselves. Each soldier of this operation had been well-informed of the terrain. They were eager to use every single spot of land as cover or improvised defense. They had set-up mines covered in mud. Dynamite rested beneath the only road leading to it.

As cavalrymen, exhausted from the fighting of the day, approached, dozens of guns welcomed them out of nowhere, firing indiscriminately at officers and men alike. As much as possible, their captain commanded them to avoid melee combat. They needed to hold this line until morning, when they could, once again, fall back to the heavily-armed tanks of the 16th Ace which would have arrived by then.

Engineer Quan to Skyhookedian-Asiatic command; combat at Sector Maharlika has begun. Requesting reinforcements and air support, over.

The Caribbean Horizon
June 16th

As silhouettes in the backdrop of the gleaming break of day which had begun to brag its splendor by goldifying the blue tides washing upon the Azure Beach of Skyhooked, the reinforcing fleet of the Pan-Asiatic Maritime Army began to emerge on the horizon, most fresh from the shipyards of Osaka. State-President Kazuo Shii's Strengthen Our Seas Initiative brought their finest to the fray. They were not as great in firepower as the Kafairian Navy, but their relatively more lightweight composition, coupled with their numbers, made them perfect for the mission.

Six corvettes; the P.A.S Type 397A Bolo-Class Corvette Agunua, the P.A.S Type 397B Bolo-Class Corvette Tsovinar, the P.A.S Type 397C Bolo-Class Corvette Dewi Danu, the P.A.S Type 397D Bolo-Class Corvette Dewi Lanjar, the P.A.S Type CL-400A Kapayapaan-Class Corvette Nyami-Nyami, the P.A.S Type CA-400C Kapayapaan-Class Corvette Cá Ông, the P.A.S Type CA-400D Kapayapaan-Class Corvette Siyokoy, and the P.A.S Type CL-400E Kapayapaan-Class Corvette Anahita guarded the flanks of the fleet.

Three destroyers borrowed from the Domestic Peacekeeping Brigade, the P.A.S Type DDG-349A Flojo-Class Destroyer Great Leap Forward, the P.A.S Type DD-349B Flojo-Class Destroyer Cần Vương Movement, and the P.A.S Type DDG-349H Flojo-Class Destroyer Great Proletariat Cultural Revolution composed the middle-vanguard of the fleet.

And finally, five heavily-armed Battleships and Battlecruisers, sea tanks of the Pan-Asiatic States Armed Forces; the P.A.S Type BBGK-086A Qing-Class Battleship Mao Zedong, the P.A.S Type BBGK-097A Zhou-Class Battleship Ho Chi Minh, the P.A.S Type BBG-097B Zhou-Class Battleship Jose P. Laurel, the P.A.S Type CA-112A Yuan-Class Battlecruiser Filipino Flojo, and the P.A.S Type CA-112B Yuan-Class Battlecruiser Zhongsheng composed the main interior.

The reinforcements' first operational objective was to rendezvous with the submarines on the Kafairian front. They would then sortie to meet the Kafairian Navy head-on. However, a splinter of the reinforcements' Battleships would aim their guns toward the mainland and provide naval artillery support for the defenders.

The submarines, on the other hand would be reassigned to first, disappear. Then, in a couple of days, hijack Kafairian supply convoys in the area. The initial Kafairian invasion force would surely have brought enough food and ammunition for 48 hours, but if they expected to pierce further into the mainland, through fighting which could drag on for weeks, the Kafairian Army would have to import supplies from their country's mainland. Those supply convoys would meet the deadly silence of the Pan-Asiatic submarine fleet.

The time had come to subdue Kafairian naval supremacy in the region.

New Asan, Asan River

Zkto' grumbled, as he clambered out of the freezing water of the Asan River. Turning to look at the burning wreckage behind him, as emergency crews scrambled to organize a response. He shook his head, and turned. Grabbing onto a ladder, which lead up to what little of the central span still stood, he began to climb. Boots slamming against metal rungs, as he climbed to the road-deck. He soon arrived to the chaos, and walked up to an officer, who was staring at the chaos in shock. "Officer! Get me a line to the Capital."

"Y-Yessir!? How did you survive!?" The suprised officed asked, wheeling about to face Zkto'.

"They should know by now. It's hard to kill me." Zkto' said, while turning to look at the long line of freight-trains stacking up infront of the bridge.

"I... I can see that." The officer said. The officer turned to face the wreckage... And then smoothly drew his pistol. He trained it on Zkto's back...

And then seven shots rang out.

"... Ah, you're one of them?" Zkto choked out, as he turned around. Seven exit wounds bled, as Zkto' calmly drew his own pistol.. The heavy 25.4 MM cycling, as the Officer stared in shock. "You should have learned from that bombing. You can't kill me, untill I say so."

The 'Biteback' kicked in his hands twice. The first shot blowing the officers torso apart, and the second his head. Zkto' sighed, as he raised a hand to feel the wounds. Turning to where he saw an armored car rushing up to the bridge...

Voroan, Capital District
"Teno, Sir?" The Aide asked, poking his head into the office.

"Yes? I am not to be disturbed unless something crucial came up." Teno asked, grumpily, as he downed another mug of coffee.

"... Sir, Zkto' was attacked this morning. His train was bombed. He's currently being treated for seven gunshot wounds, Colt .45s."

"... Shit. It's just begun, hasn't it?"

"Aye sir. Two divisions have gone rogue- Seized control of two outposts."

"Then cry Havoc! Come- Let us raise my divisions." Teno stood, and quickly walked out of his office...

New Asan, Pier 89
A chemical train sat on a side-track. Shifted aside as the primary rail-line out of New Asan was cut. 58 tankers, filled with 55,000 gallons of chlorine each.

Hazor slipped between the freight cars. Small explosive charges being fitted into fuel valves, connectors, and with enough mass to cause a dramatic shift in pressure. He slid his own gas-mask on, and ran for the cover of a warehouse. The detonation wire bobbing, as he sparked the end. Diving behind cover, as seconds later, huge clouds of chlorine gas began to rise. Spreading out over the city, as screams of shock and terror began to fill the air.

Hazor smiled to himself, as he walked away from the scene. The thick clouds of chlorine gas obscuring his escape...

He knew precisely what history would call him. But he didn't give a damn. He'd kick started the Succesion. His actions would determine the war ahead.

Carribean Sea, the Uvoanian Fleet

The fleet had been in chaos since Adama had vanished. And now panicked reports from command yelled of a massive chemical attack- A bombed governmental train. Zkto' had been shot? Nobody could tell anyone what was happening.

In the chaos, nobody noticed the guns of the 'Victory' turning to face the 'Zkto' Zovban'. Or the guns of the 'Vengeance' turning to face Azure Beach... Or the guns of the 'Zkto' Zovban' turning to face the refugee transports.

Everybody noticed when the guns began to fire. 15" shells flying, and then the destroyers joined in. Torpedoes and shells flying, as the Vengeance was struck by a full volley of torpedoes in her starboard. Magazines detonating, as the Battlecruiser rolled over. Huge explosions clawing into the sky, as the 'Zkto' Zovban' fired its guns again and again. Refugee transports being shelled through the chaos, even as destroyers darted in and out of the mess. Guns firing at one another, as nobody could tell who supported who.

The bridge of the 'Victory' suddenly detonated, as a flight of bombers peeled off. Two flights of torpedo bombers slotting in, as flak roared. Two planes were shot down, but 18 still got torpedoes away. The 'Victory' detonated in much the same way as the 'Vengeance', heavy magazines detonating...

And then the 'Zkto' Zovban' detonated, as a destroyer got a full torpedo volley into her. Then more dive-bombers screeched overhead, and bombs detonated on the refugee camp in the distance...

Skyhooked, Refugee camp

The refugee camp had become a shit-show even faster. Tanks smashed through tents, main guns and machine guns roaring. Ignoring anyone squashed beneath them, as soldiers engaged in close quarters combat. Knifes, bayonets, and shots flying. Nobody could tell who was friend- Who was foe...

Just that someone was trying to kill them, and the only way to survive? Was to kill them first.

Kafair, Palace

Zakkin calmly walked from the fighter, towards where he knew the meeting was happening. Walking through the corridors, with a face that looked like murder. He nodded to the guards, and entered. Walking to Drakkin, and speaking in low, hushed tones...

"Zkto's been shot. His train was bombed. Two military divisions have gone rogue. New Asan has been hit by a chemical attack. Its our ball, Drakkin. We're being recalled, now."

Drakkins face turned pale as a ghost. He stood, and nodded to Zakkin, before turning to the delegation.

"I am sorry about my abrupt departure- But the Civil War has begun. We are being recalled..."

He glances at Mercer, clearing his throat, and speaking so that only Mercer, and SilverNet, will hear.

"Zkto' has been shot."

He then turns on a heel, and walks out, quickly. Zakkin following, as they head for the fighter...

General el-Zadeh ordered his men forth. They had been repeatedly punching through the PAS lines. Now, as the force moved through an open field, from the trees before them came a cry of Wei Renimin Fuwu!. The men, looking and seeing the PAS troops charging, grinned. The general ordered his men to turn and face them, and draw their blades. Sword fighting is an art that the troops Kafair employed are required to study for 5 years. They were all accomplished swordsmen. Then, Zadeh ordered 2 groups forth. The 1500 men of the 3rd Regiment, and the 500 of the 1st Elite. These men were the single best trained unit in CQB in the military. The 1st quickly set up mobil MG's, and they got their mortars and grenades ready. Some men of the 2nd elite lent their grenades and RPGs to them. Then, as the PAS troops got into range, their charge still moving, BRAAAT, BOOM, CLAC CLAC CLAC, FOOSH. The weapons all opened up, and with the men forcing cover, they were easy prey. Firing for around 10 seconds, the men quickly let go of the weapons. Formed ranks, draw their assorted epons. Maces, battle hammers, sabers and spears. With their own mighty yell of עבור הסולטן והשמש!!!(For the sultan and the sun!), the men charged. They met in a swirling melee in the middle of the field, the 2000 most elite troops, meeting the swarm of PAS men. After a second, another contingent of 7000 men charged into the fray. A minute larter, another 7000 moved in. Now with 16000 men in the fray, the rest started firing on the rest of the PAS men in the trees, or killing anyone who left the melee. This is what the troops of Kafair were trained for. They were all trained as children by their parents, trained in the army, and trained in combat. All were veterans, men who Zadeh has commanded on over 5 different campaigns. They were ready. They lived for the rush of combat.

Kafairian Royal Palace

The Sultan was regretting this meeting. He should of known bringing so many volatile people together was dangerous,. Now with Astre outside the room, the Uvoans leaving and Chuck trying to monetize the meeting, he had good reason too.

“People. This meeting is falling apart. We must be unified in our fighting against this anarchic nation. Franziska, is Astre ok?”

He turns to a servent. Give this message to Astre. The man runs out as the sultan looks to Franzika, waiting for her answer.

Outside the room, the man finds Astre leaning on the wall, sulking.

“Prince Astre!”

The man kneels.

“The sultan has a message for you.”

The man bows, gives the prince the letter, and leaves.

The letter reads as such:

"Atsre. I do hope you are ok. If you have some steam to blow off, ask one of the guards. They will take you to our dueling room. I have heard of your prowess with the blade. Perhaps we could duel later today?”

Energoprom R&D Compound 01
Undisclosed Location

Rasputin strode through a long, winding corridoor at a brisk pace. Row upon row of reinforced steel doors lined the walls to each side. Beyond them, much was being prepared - tests were conducted, equipment was assembled, legions of scientists and engineers were working in unison to produce... something. Something that not even they knew the full purpose of.

The Vozhd stopped at a door that appeared like any other. Tapping the small panel beside it with his wrist, he waited for the monolithic slab to slide open. Within, a small supply closet could be seen. He ignored the stacks of cardboard boxes, and reached into a row of shelving. Inside, something clicked faintly, and now the closet's rear wall slid into the floor. The corridoor beyond was cramped, and dimly lit. As Rasputin made his way through, both the door and the wall slid shut in his wake.

A few minutes later, another door slid open in another section of the facility. This area was furnished in a style far departed from the clinical detachment of the research halls - were it not for the absence of windows, one could almost imagine themselves to be in a victorian mansion rather than a subterranean government facility. Reinforced plating was hidden behind expanses of delicately stuccoed white, and vast carpet-like tapestries bedecked otherwise barren sections of the walls and floor. A fireplace of monolithic marble roared to life at Rasputin's approach. He continued walking, over to an intricately-engraved desk upon which a laptop rested.

Lowering himself into the accompanying armchair, he powered up the screen. Almost immediately after passing biometric verification, he was greeted with a slew of popups - military actions, troop movements, declarations of... he stopped. Selecting a single notification, quite apart from the rest, the Vozhd began to read.

Chernograd Governmental Complex, Gray Wing
Central Communications, Nexus 3

The chamber housing this section of Central Communications was an incredibly spacious one, and it was filled with screens. Small ones, huge ones - they came in all shapes and sizes. They lined the walls, and parts of the ceiling. They were present in each cubicle, where communications officers toiled day and night to keep the maelstrom of data flowing in its discreet streams, twisted like some monstrous knot of logistics. They were carried in handheld form by each man and woman who plied their trade in these halls. And now, each and every one of those screens received a small notification. Small, but by no means insignificant. Each tiny popup displayed the three-bar code that signified it as a Prime-Level Communique - essentially, an executive order of the highest priority.

Soon, all eyes were on the largest screen in the room - a massive, cinema-sized thing on the north wall. It shifted its image away from the charts and graphs that had previously adorned it, now showcasing a direct feed of the Vozhd. His face was stern, though seemingly no sterner than usual. But a few of the veteran officials, ones who had worked with Resputin for decades, were filled with unease. They had come to know his subtle variations in mood, and this was not a pleasant one. Those who had served with him during the revolution could identify it further - death was on the horizon.

"Ladies and gentlemen. My fellow servants of the state. You have all been selected for a reassignment, of sorts. If you are receiving this transmission, then you are hereby subject to the orders within. You are to cease all current activities with a priority level below five, and instead divert efforts to the fulfillment of the assigned targets, as detailed in the enclosed info packet that was delivered to your devices. But that much you can already read - I am calling in to elaborate on why. Uvoan is descending into a civil war."

There were a few concerned mutterings from around the room.

"There have been assassination attempts. A city is blanketed in poison gas. The navy is fighting amongst itself. Refugees are being gunned down by factions they know nothing of. I am telling you these things because by hearing this transmission, you have the clearance to know about them. And I am telling you these things so that you understand why I want to find the perpetrators, and wipe the very mention of their existence off the face of this Earth. They will burn, ladies and gentlemen. I will rend the earth asunder, boil the seas dry, to find them and bring them to that age-old chopping block that we call "justice". Because I have witnessed a nation tearing itself apart, seen people driven from their homes by their neighbors for the sake of causes they don't understand. One who perpetrates such chaos with the sole intent on furthering one's own goals, who spits on the ideals of his countrymen without a second thought, is one unworthy of redemption."

He straightened his tie, and his voice seemed to soften to some degree.

"Uvoan are not our closest allies, but they are not our enemies. They are people, plain and simple. And no person deserves to have this forced upon them. For the sake of the common man, and for the preservation of life, regardless of nation and state, the instigators of this war will be found. Their poison will not be allowed to dribble into the minds of the populace, and they will be purged. In certamine es unitate, in unitate es virtus. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. I bid you all a pleasant evening."

As the screen flickered back to its former contents, the room was silent. Then, activity resumed at a far higher pace, as everyone scrambled to see what tasks lay ahead. Ideology was all well and good, but this was going to be a logistical nightmare.

YCV Adrianna, Uvoan coastal waters
Bridge

Captain Sheremetyev was somewhat nonplussed by the transmission he had just received. A notice directly from Central Command, to simply "await orders"? The Adrianna was idling now, its route temporarily on hold - had they made amendments to the path they were to take? Was the Ryk's fleet making a move? A few moments later, everything had clarified itself a little more. Sheremetyev placed a hand on his brow. He could feel a migraine coming on. This wasn't meant to be a combat mission, but you could hardly argue with HQ. Besides, he understood their reasoning. Grabbing a transceiver from the control panel beside him, he cleared his throat.

"Attention to all cargo crew - prepare for the offloading of the bullion shipment. An escort vessel will shortly become available for cargo reception. To all other personnel - prepare for an alteration in route. Details will become available from deck officers within the hour. That is all."

He replaced the transceiver. Whatever the case, they were now well and truly in the midst of it.

An hour later, with the bullion safely on board one of the destroyers of the escort fleet, the Adrianna changed heading. The destroyer in question sank beneath the waves, maintaining its route back to the safety of the Islands, while the rest of the escort vessels followed the now considerably lighter cargo ship back towards New Asan.

"I feel like you may have-"

Varushkin stopped.

"Excuse me for one moment."

The door to the cell opened, allowing him safe exit, and was then immediately shut once more. Adama sat in silence for a few minutes, before the Commissar returned. He did not enter the cell this time, but merely spoke over the intercom on the wall outside. His voice was perfectly audible for Adama, though where it came from was unclear.

"It would appear that our little talks will have to be postponed. I do apologize - unforeseen developments mean that not only am I needed elsewhere, but your return to the Uvoanian fleet will be delayed. Primarily due to the sudden absence of said fleet."

"His Royal Highness will be alright," Franziska replied. The other girl besides Countess Marie in Astre's entourage spoke up. Her name was Rose Ludenberg and she was his retainer.

"He's more vulnerable than he lets on. He just needs a moment of quiet...being his retainer, I should go ahead and follow," Rose said with a tone of worry, getting up and attempting to leave. Franziska seemed to vanish with impossible stealthiness. No one should realize she was gone for a good while.

"Tell him I am well, and I accept his offer to spar," Astre deadpanned to the messenger. The clacking of heels and pitter-patter of boots signaled the arrival of Franziska and Rose respectively.

"Lord Astre, are you alright?" Rose asked.

"Hn."

Franziska leaned against the same wall as Astre and smiled as Rose stood on guard.

GREAT BOUNTIFUL EMPIRE OF THE UNITED TURTLES, MUSHROOMS, AND MEN OF TURTLESHROOM
ARMED FORCES OF TURTLESHROOM
BUREAUCRAT-AT-ARMS

TO THE BELLIGERENTS OF THE SKYHOOKED CRUSADE:

The Great Bountiful Empire of TurtleShroom is shocked and horrified at the unbelievable commission of Crimes Against the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit* in the course of this war and has deemed it fit to intervene.

In accordance with the Second Imperial Constituion, the three Tsars of TurtleShroom, should they so act in unanimity, have the authority to deploy the conventional arms and forces of the Armed Forces of TurtleShroom for, depending on the nature of the conflict, fifteen to niney days before they must receive consent from either the legislatures of the realm or a referendum of the population.

In the case outlined herein, TurtleShroom is not declaring war on any belligerent in the war.
TurtleShroom continues to remain a neutral party in this conflict. This permits an indefinite deployment to protect the innocent.

As TurtleShroom is acting in such a way that is strictly defensive and (hopefully) nonviolent, this peacekeeping mission and rescue operation does not require the consent of the greater TurtleShroomian plebescite.

Instead, TurtleShroom will immediately be dispatching the following forces in order to evacuate the refugees that still live, and to establish a peacekeeping corridor to evacuate them before the subhuman abominations of Rapture commit further evils.

TurtleShroom also condemns the Kamikaze attacks and other cowardly, dishonorable actions committed, for the purpose of suicide, by the Marxists of the Pan-Asian States. In no way is guerilla warfare dishonorable or wrong in any circumstances, but taking the coward's way out and purposely charging soldiers (especially conscripts) with the express purpose of death is unacceptable cowardice in the Empire.

The Order of Battle, which is not contributing in any way to an aggressor or belligerent front, shall consist of the following creatures:
  • One hundred Artillery Mushrooms* and accompanying large scale, belt-fed heavy armaments, with ammunition. Each Artillery Mushroom possesses two heavy armaments.
  • Two thousand infantrymen, each armed with automated AK-74 rifles, double-barreled shotguns, ammunition and other standard issue equipment such as grenades and combat gear for this mission.
  • Two thousand medical agents, both civilian and military, and medical supplies as needed. All medical agents will be armed with handguns and tasers.
  • Chaplains, as needed. Chaplains will be armed with standard handguns and tasers.
  • Supply wagons, logistic matters, and other means to support the soldiers deployed.
  • Troop transport helicopters for the purpose of emergency removal of refugees.

These soldiers are deployed and armed to fend off potential aggressors during their peaceful mission. As Rapture and the Marxist Pan-Asian States have already demonstrated that they do not have honor, we cannot send unarmed or civilian forces to protect the innocent, rescue the hostages, or otherwise conduct charity work and peacekeeping operations without heavy protection. Each medical agent will be accompanied by at least one infantryman.

Our peacekeepers have already touched down in Trinidad and will be deployed as neccesary.

Thank you.
-BUREAUCRAT-AT-ARMS ACTING UNDER AUTHORITY OF THE COMMAND OF THE ARMED FORCES OF TURTLESHROOM.

P.S.: To the Chuckmen who were previously contacted concerning the transport of our peacekeeping forces to the war zone, our arrival in In the Trini-cultured holdings of Chuck-affiliated forces means that your requested payment of two million Skillets ($500G N/USD) has been wired. Transport to the war zone will begin immediately.

[TOP SECRET: FOR YOUR EYES ONLY]
[DO NOT DECRYPT BEFORE WITNESSES]

ATTENTION SOLDIERS OF THE CROSS, THEIR UNBELIEVING ALLIES, AND THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE RAPTURE.

TurtleShroom has seen the Marxist Pan-Asian States tarnishing the wise, advantageous use of guerilla warfare through cowardice and suicidal madness.

As many of the guerilla tactics employed by the Pan-Asian States are used by TurtleShroom, the Armed Forces of TurtleShroom are honored to announce that martial advisors will be dispatched to the Crusader belligerents to instruct them further in countering suicidal guerilla actions and suicidal tactics by Marxist forces in the war.

We hope that our offer will be of relevance to your campaign.

Thank you.

* = Also known as "Trinitarian Offenses" and "Crimes Against the Holy Trinity", this is the term that TurtleShroom uses to refer to war crimes that would cause the execution of those who committed it. "Crimes against humanity", obviously, isn't broad enough to cover non-humans.

** = Imagine Arnold Schwarztenegger in his famous combat poses, with two full-size machine guns in his hands, and the belts of ammunition feeding them bared from his shoulder to his hip, crossing on both sides of his body. That is an Artillery Mushroom; they are the highest special operations forces in the TurtleShroom Army. TS sapient mushrooms float a few inches off the ground and use weak telekinesis to exactly mirror the use of "hands". Normally, recoil from firearms pushes a sapient mushroom backwards until they learn how to telekinetically "anchor" themselves to the ground. However, Artillery Mushrooms have mastered their normally petty, weak powers and have instead the most powerful telekinesis in TurtleShroom, enabling them to fire machine guns without budging.

Opening Shots, Part II

Postby Uvoan » Sun Jun 16, 2019 1:31 pm

New Asan was burning. In the short time since the initial bombing, the city had dissolved into a war-zone. Ticonderogas and Arleigh burkes sailed up and down the Asan river, attacking each other, or bombarding on-shore positions. Patrol boats wove in and out of the chaos, torpedoes firing, on-deck machine guns attacking. Tanks dueled in the close quarters streets, and armored trains fought each-other in the elevated rail-lines of the city...

New Asan, General Hospital
The chlorine cloud had killed tens of thousands civilians- The indiscriminate warfare afterwards had only claimed a few thousand. Distinct sides were emerging-

And one of them was fighting for its life, outside the Asan River General Hospital. 750 Men of Zkto's personal guard were holed up, fending off attacks from all sides. Zkto' had been brought here immediately following the bombing- Just before the chlorine attack. Their 5 tanks had been destroyed within minutes of the fight starting, and they'd been forced to dig in. Fire came from all around them- Skyscrapers, rail-lines, the streets, a few had even tried to assault them through the sewer... They were holding, but the question was for how long, as they fought for every millimeter of ground between them and the hospital...

New Asan, North River Suburb

Commanders rushed artillery guns into position, even as the thick clouds of chlorine gas billowing around them murdered visibility. They'd been preparing this strike for years- But everything was coming to a head too quickly. The officer was caught between a hundred decisions, but all his guns were now in position. He had infantry digging trenches ahead- And somewhere out to sea, he knew the force of the Uvoanian Navy was wheeling about to support him bombardment. He took a deep breath, and then began calling orders...

"Battery One, Elevate 15, Bearing 146! High Explosive, Fire for effect! Battery Two, Elevate 15, Bearing 148! High Explosive, Fire for effect! Battery Three, Elevate 15, Bearing 150! High Explosive, Fire for effect! Battery Four, Elevate 16, Bearing 148! Chemical, Fire for Saturation! Battery Five, Elevate 17, Bearing 148! High Explosive, Fire for Saturation! Battery Six, Elevate 15, Bearing 146! High Explosive, Fire for effect! Battery Seven, Elevate 15, Bearing 148! High Explosive, Fire for effect! Battery Nine, Elevate 15, Bearing 150! High Explosive, Fire for effect! Battery Ten, hold for tasking! All tasking, OPEN FIRE!"

As he felt the thunder of guns shake the air, he could only pray to Kvona that Commander Olot, the entire general organizing this rebellion, knew precisely what he was doing...

New Asan, Chemical Manufactury

The Hazzantian rebels had taken the position without much trouble. The quick assault had over-run the minimal, private, security force. Taking hostages, and killing the rest, as across the city, rebels quickly took key communication points. The leader of the rebellion, Kazak, was grinning to herself as the reports came rolling in.

Her command center was a modified 'Battle-field' armored train- Its heavy guns, and speed, made it perfect for her rebellion. It would start here in Asan, and then spread, spread to encompass all of Uvoan. They would feel the fury of the Hazzantian Rebels, who had been denied their homeland.

They would feel the fury of Kazak, and her murdered father. Her murdered family... And all the families that had been cut down in the first siege of New Asan. Uvoan would pay ten-fold. She swore this, as she turned to the map on the table.

Voroan, Central Station
The first shots rang from inside a freight train, halted as all traffic across the country came to a grinding halt. Pro-communist rebels leaping out of boxcars, and quickly establishing a base within the station. Wule Chao, the leader, sat inside an armored train-car...

"The people have suffered too long under this rule! Let the worker arise- Let the worker strike! Let us tear down those who have ruled us for decades!"

He heard his voice ringing out over the radio, and he smiled. The Worker would not be held under these chains for long! He turned, as gunfire came from the north side of the station. Police forces, backed by military units, rushing to dislodge them... He would not let them.

"Comrades! They come to crush the worker! Forward! Forward! Repel the capitalist pig! For the Glory of the Worker!" He cried, as his comrades around him picked up the cry.

"For the glory of the Worker!"

Vokan, Industrial District

Kyle Vekat walked down the palace-like halls of his personal mansion. The city of Vokan was his city- Its mines were his, its refineries were his, and its military was his...

So when he had gotten the news of Asan erupting into chaos, he had consolidated his control. Bribing an entire army to his side, he had made his move. The city had been subdued, quickly. And now his armored trains were attacking from out of the city, to bring Vulon, the city just down the mountain, under his sway.

He intended to strike fast. Drive a stake into the shattering heart of Uvoan, and reform it to his dreams. Afterall, a man with money had it all... And a man with the money of a country? Could make a paradise on earth for themselves.

Gution, City Gardens

The city gardens were nearly empty at this time of day- Everyone was either at work, or preparing to go to work... But it was different today. A small building had been rented-

And now it was full to the brim with people yelling. 48 Factions came together to plan their first moves in a war- But nobody could agree. Forty eight voices all disagreed...

The pro-Democratic faction would spend a while getting off the ground, but they all knew one thing at heart. They could rally the population behind them, with ease... And where the populace went, Uvoan went.

Unknown Location, Uvoanian Mountains
Prince Aloe was the last survivor of the Uvoanian royal household- He had bid his time. Waiting for Zkto' to make a mistake, so he could return... But it had never come.

Decades had passed. The palace he had retreated to was crumbling around him. His guards deserted, or died, one by one. His entire retinue was maybe 5,000 people now. The door to his room suddenly flew open, as a courier bowed.

"Sir! News from Asan- The city is burning! Rebels are all over!" The messenger panted, out of breath.

"Lovely!" Aloe called, as he stood. "Go, rally my retinue! Alert me when they are ready- We move for the Red Palace." He said, as the Messenger simply saluted. Turning and sprinting off.

Aloe smiled to himself. Uvoan would know a proper ruling hand again... A proper ruler.

Voroan, Military Outpost 3E8

Pro-Teno forces rushed about. Armored trains darting out of the city, planes taking to the air. They'd forced the city into complete martial law, and rebels had fled into the countryside. Voroan was the Capital-

And Teno intended for it to remain that way. He looked over maps, plotting advances. He looked up as a courier sprinted in.

"What's the situation?" He asked, as the courier took a few breathes.

"The Third and Fourth army are aligned with us- The First army is aligned with Zkto'... A rogue group of military commanders have 10 armies- The Second, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eight, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, Twelfth, and Thirteenth. One battalion, the one near Vokan, simply isn't responding to hails... We're outnumbered by an incredible degree, sir..."

"Roll out the Specials then. We can't let Voroan fall... If we fail here? We cannot win this war."

Another courier burst in, suddenly.

"Sir! Communist rebels have taken Central!"

Teno grimaced, and swore. Vigorously, and loudly.

New Asan, General Hospital

"ARTILLERY!" A soldier called, diving for cover as the heavy artillery slammed down. The streets erupting into heavy shelling, as explosions rocked it. "KEEP THE ROAD CLEAR- AND SOMEONE CALL THE AIRFORCE!"

Soldiers crawled as the heavy shells slammed down. Explosions sending bodies, cars, tanks, and debris flying. A few troops crawled into defensive positions, as rebels rushed towards them, hoping to seize the hospital... And by proxy, Zkto' Zovban. Doctors were fighting for his life inside the hospital, as soldiers outside fought to give them that chance.

A rebel ran through the hell of artillery, and drew a knife. A soldier threw himself forward with his own knife to meet it, and the blades slashed. Punches, strikes, and anything else flew in the close-quarters combat as more rushed out of the chlorine fog. Someones gasmask was punctured, and the screams filled the air. Shots rang out, as rifles were dropped for pistols.

But these were the Fighting First- Not some rookie conscript army. An officer caught a rebel charging at him by the gas-mask, and ripped it off. Stomping a spiked boot down on the soldiers head, as he looked up. "Keep fighting! Don't let them into the hospital! Give all you've got, lads!" He screamed, over the deafening roar of artillery shells... Every man here would give his life to protect the Hospital. He know that... It was just a matter if they could make their sacrifices matter.

Adama fell silent, as he heard the news. He dropped to his knees, and began to pray. Words low, and impossible to hear... One sentence did stand out though-

"Gods in Heaven, forgive my failure. Give my nation a reprieve from this war, and alleviate my sins..."

The behemoth of a ship stopped at the harbor. It was a container ship, old and clumsy. The ship was able to sail by the Uvoan battle zone, with it flying an unknown flag. Most assumed it was some small far off nation. It was a flag with a large sun, and 19 stars around it. Nothing too strong. As it pulled in, a group of 10 large hover robots began to lift the two huge containers, each the size of a transport ship. As the massive cargo ship pulled away, the robots, all bearing the same flag moved in the direction of the hospital. People, not recognising it, apart, avoiding the bots, as they had a few weapons on em. As they arrived at the hospital, the constant shelling was still happening. Seeing the shells continuing, 5 bpts with one container turned towards them and moved on. The other 5 dropped their container. Then, they waited. Seeing the huge guns, the 5 bots sent to them set down their containers. A small group of Uvoan troops came to investigate. Seeing Nothing odd, they look into the containers. Than they were blown back. The containers collapsed away, seeing troops. Troops with turbans and swords. The Kafairians had arrived. The same flag was raised, and the men formed ranks. This was no small national flag. This was the flag of the 19th Interdiction Force. 30,000 men, sent to to help Zkto' win this war. As the troops yelled at the Uvoans, and they turned to see this hug force appear out of nowhere, the men yelled, and charged at the guns, weapons blazing and grenades flying. They were dropped behind the trenches, so they had surprise. May the Sun have mercy on their souls. The other 15,000 set down near the hospital burst out of their container, and charged the rebels. Caught off guard, they Kafairans slammed into them, and the battle intensified.
