In a dystopian future (in which the world is run by a world government called the United Nations), you are a powerful magic user.
You have been recruited by a magical supremacist organisation. This organisation believes in the superiority of magic users and in the destiny of those with magic to rule over those without (they are descended from a cult that worships the Witch Queen dating back to the medieval ages).
You launch a revolution against the world's nations. You (along with others in your organization) use magic to kill large numbers of soldiers and civilians. However, your revolution was very poorly timed and in very short order all of you are killed, captured, or defeated.
In the aftermath of the war (in which your side is decisively defeated), you are sentenced for your war time crimes.
The United Nations does not use the death penalty. After you have been permanently stripped of your magic, they decide to give you a choice of two options with respect to your permanent incarceration with no possibility of parole.
Option 1:
You will be housed with the general prison population in a max security facility. This means that during many parts of the day, you will interact with a mass of other prisoners. Despite having lost your magical powers, you are known (amongst the prisoners) as a magic user and a mass murderer. The prison population, consisting overwhelmingly of born non-magics (over 98%) are on the whole very very hostile towards your kind. Guards are known to turn a blind eye towards personal attacks/abuse directed at magic users.
However, there is a possibility (depending on your IRL personal strength/toughness, charisma, and social skills) that you could make some friends. Perhaps a greater possibility that you could get stabbed, beaten, or abused in other ways.
Option 2:
You will be housed in a modern Glass Box for the rest of your life. This is a large floating transparent box suspended in mid air designed to keep you permanently inside. You will never be able to leave the Glass Box, it will be your home 24/7.
The good thing is that you are 100% protected from the rest of the prisoners.
The con (very obviously) is that aside from a few guards who come to deliver food to you and clean some things up, no visitors are ever allowed you are stuck in the Glass Box for all of eternity. You could go insane from the complete lack of friendly human contact.
Please note that if you choose the Glass Box option, it is permanent. When/If you start to go insane or suffer incredibly from the isolation, the guards will remind you of your permanent choice to be here.
...
Whether you choose Option 1 or 2, you are realistically never leaving the prison.
Remember, close to everyone in the facility (since they largely consist of non-magics) absolutely hate you. You can expect a certain level of professionalism from the guards but its part of the prison culture for them to turn a complete blind eye when bad things happen to unpopular ex magic users.
Which option do you choose?
Please justify your choice and discuss.
