You know, when people’s houses are on that ice, well. Most of us don’t want to live in Atlantis.

Not entirely sure how, deep sea/historical ruins tourism?

Faster shipping routes, oil exploration. For Greenland, some mining possibilities.

I think that if the Arctic’s melted, and we keep using oil, we deserve what we get.

It's like using nukes in the Fallout universe. "Everything's already fucked, so why not?"

Oh yay! While Greenland starts to get more habitable land, the rest of the earth will just be on fire! Woohoo!

In all seriousness, the amount of ice needed to thaw out in Greenland to make them just like any other moderately temperate place would place us at a huge environmental crisis. And even if there was some hypothetical where Greenland would totally be unaffected, there's still those millions of people elsewhere in other countries getting flooded out of king and country.

Agreed. Structures on permafrost will suffer damage when the ice layer thaws.

Why do you say that? We may have a tendency to try to kill each other and create weapons of mass destruction, but I also notice that humanity has the ability to come together in times of need. This can even be applied to this thread's subject. Don't doubt the future until it's gone

We're not doing that, and we're in arguably the biggest time of need in the history of modern civilization. So I'd consider the future to be effectively gone already.
That doesn't mean you can't do something good in the limited time we have left; I view it as a reason to get out of bed and help make our last years on Earth the best ones.
