Khomnian troops moving down a Timbostani road towards the coast

TIMBOSTANIA CITY, TIMBOSTANIA - The occupation of the Empire of Timbostania has begun after the Timbostani emperor to the coalition mounted against them. Almost two hundred thousand Khomnian troops will be landing in Timbostania in order to enforce an occupation.

Currently, 30,000 troops have already landed in Timbostania as Khomney flexes her international muscle. Political observer Jamjer Khallaemir has pitched in his view of what the war and the ensuing occupation by Khomnian forces means geopolitically.

Our nation's assistance to Neo-Trinity through material, and then the military intervention culminating in an efficient, though bloody, blitzkrieg-like counter-invasion lasting mere days and the ensuing occupation is a geopolitical yell that Ashetkun is now on the international scene, and others should pay attention, especially Tasmanstad."

So how did this happen?

Khomnian mortar team take aim at Timbostanian railroads

On April 13th, Timbostania declared an unprovoked war against the democratic nation of Neo-Trinity and invaded, bombing major military bases near the border. The United Nations declared neutrality almost immediately afterwards, and the war kicked into full gear.

Neo-Trinity reacted quickly, gaining the hearts of the nation after rapidly counterattacking with their own bombing runs and mustering an defense force and attacking, despite being outnumbered due to being unprepared. The underdog situation Neo-Trinity had been put in further captured the hearts of the people.

Saint Hal declared neutrality a few hours later, and within the same day the military began to mobilize and extend an alliance to Neo-Trinity, which they initially refused due to their anti-interventionist beliefs. At 4:00 PM, April 13th, a lend lease policy had already began, and Khomney was assisting Neo-Trinity in resources. No one expected the war to escalate so quickly.

This was in concert with an unofficial declaration of war as Khomney went on the attack, providing strafer drones to attack Timbostanian forces. In the meantime, Neo-Trinity began mustering an even stronger force, but Khomney wasn't completely involved in the war yet.

Eventually, Khomney officially declared war and launched an invasion, securing multiple eastern beach heads. As they began to lose, Timbostania began demanding Khomney sign a favorable peace, which Ashketun obviously refused. Ground forces began to arrive as the war began to ramp up.

Paratroopers (and bombs) began to land on Timbostania and things got very bad very quickly for them. Hansdeltania got involved, sending aircraft carriers (that didn't make it in time) in order to participate in the defense of democracy in Sotoa. The Timbostani government reports one million civilians and soldiers dead within two days of fighting.

They also accuse Khomney and Neo-Trinity of aggression for continuing the war. They then surrender on the sixteenth, marking the end of the four day war with a crushing, uncondititional Timbostani defeat.

Pipeline explodes like a bomb, but good news

KELMINE, PAUDNAM:

An oil pipe has burst in Tulgsa, the capital of Lasman and Barracas. There was a large explosion and then a fireball, causing a blaze that hasn't been put out yet due to faulty fire hydrant piping. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of civilian property and public infrastructure have been damaged by the incident, which has been classified as the GL3 incident by the Department of Public Infrastructure.

A municipal review in 2012 rated the section of pipe "high risk" however in most provinces, just like in Lasman and Barracas, infrastructure funding has been slowly decreasing since the infrastructure boom of the 1950s to 1970s. A review by the Khomnian Infrastructure Repair Committee has called the actions of the Tulgsa Infrastructure Management "criminally negligent and unaware of the state of their infrastructure in general, not restricted to pipelines".

However, with new plans by His Majesty's government, another infrastructure boom is expected as civilians and TMs are forced to face the reality of Khomnian infrastructure and raise spending. Many under new infrastructure contracts between public and private organisations known as Title Sixes have been facilitating a new infrastructure revolution in Khomney.

Thanks to the May 10 infrastructure bill funding has been pouring into Khomnian infrastructure, producing optimism within communities with aging infrastructure. Infact, some projects have already been started all throughout the country.
In other news, a military parade for Khomney's independence day is expected to occur May 25, and Khomnian international film studio Mountbatten Pictures and Liberty Documentaries, a film and production studio, have announced a new film based off of the Hellene Sea War called Timbost.

FOREIGN MINISTRY, ASHETKUN, ASHETKUN: The first Khomnian small business enterprises have been established in Emaha and the slow intertwining of the two economies is beginning as Khomnian businesses begin to be financed by Emahan banks and lenders and vice versa. The foreign ministry has dispatched the Foreign Minister to Emaha in preparation for the audience and to outline the details of the audience. It has been clarified that His Majesty is coming in lieu of the Prime Minister.

Very generous foreign aid has been offered to Manoresca given a republic or constitutional monarchy is established there with "regular elections" (atleast every eight years) for president and democratic representatives. A constitution is also expected to be drafted within the next decade.

The military presence in Solypsis has been exacerbated, political commentator Alfred Yloker calling the military buildup, though conceded by Solypsis, an "invasion". 14,000 Khomnian troops are somewhere in the nation of 585,000 in military action, though the majority are not currently prepared for combat.

Provincial integration of New Friesenland has begun, while Khomney has gained even more concessions from Solypsis, the queendom wearily accepting a Khomnian royal guard division that has still sworn fealty to the Khomnian government. Several politicians and political commentators have brought Solypsis' effective sovereignty into question.

Markus Rudleisse [CP], Head of Infrastructure for the province of Dogedde (a province known for it's excellent infrastructure) from 2005 to 2012, and Royal Head of Infrastructure from 2016 to 2019, has formed a royal government with the permission of the crown, and became the official Premier/Marshal of the Kingdom of Khomney at 9:10 AM today; full-throatily backed by the Conservative and Christian parties who pushed his nomination through, and nervously by the oppositions.

His acceptance speech called for a complete revitalisation of Khomney on the international stage and in space, calling for new funding allocations to Khomney's space program, with the "carrot" of the proposal being asteroid mining. He has called for more Khomnian involvement in the International Space Station and more Khomnian soft power involvement on the international stage; setting up a SETA deal with South Asians and exerting their influence on "belligerent" nations like OF Arian Hellas, whom's citizens have been exerting influence and facilitating the annexation of other nations; sanctioned by the imperial government.

In contrast with the Emahan proposal which is likely to be paid for by the public, the new agenda set forth by The Marshal is expected to be funded by partnerships with the private sector. The Dept. of Transportation has suggested that private firms shoulder some of the risk for public projects they are involved in order to incentivise them to be interested in the success of the project due to the benefits that upside this risk.

The government has also released the effects of SETA, which has been protested by the democrats. Hundreds of thousands of shells have flowed into the Khomnian economy in the first days of the new deal that can be classified as resulting from the deal. In other news, the Khomnian government has introduced a new artillery design that should be rolled out into the military over this summer. It is currently known as the M93 Pierce and is expected to succeed the M92 Bunkerblaster this year. The M93 Pierce has been featured in the independence day parade down Ashetkun's main street this noon.

EMAHA CITY, EMAHA:

Khomnian envoys have shown similar interests as Emaha, wishing to export agricultural products like egg, poultry, pork, dairy, beef, etc., manufactured goods, lumber, and energy at lower tariffs to South Asians. In return the import of gems, tea spices, carpet, rice, etc. will be at significantly lower tarrifs (these happen to be quite hot in demand at the moment, especially gems with Khomney's rising marraige rate) that will be worth an estimated thirty billion shells. A copy of the proposal is in His Majesty's New Delhi Embassy for South Asians to accept.

Khomnian volunteers have set up polio relief centers in Frostland in order to slow down the rapid spread of poliovirus. Khomnian (read: modern) medicine is being introduced to the country in a desperate attempt to stifle the massive amount of cripples that will ensue after the outbreak subsides. This has been sanctioned by the Khomnian government as public relief centers will be established and private relief centers will be backed by the Khomnian government with public paxtayer shells.

A Khomnian police force has been established in the "sovereign" queendom of Solypsis. A statement has been issued that this is merely a police force, however there are reports, mostly those from seasoned international reporter Franziska Marshall. She has reported the Khomnian "military police" enforcing Khomnian laws in Solypsis. Khomnian sources have fervently denied this idea, claiming no arrests can be produced proving this assertion from the Khomnians or Solypsians, therefore this information cannot be how she stated it. She has retorted these records may have been removed, but many are unsure.

The audience with El Presidente and his government is expected to be at 5:00 PM tonight with the topics of diplomatic, economic, and military co-operation in the future. The monarch will be replaced by Rudleisse in attendance. The Khomnian government has also issued a statement to Emaha informing them that they are welcome for an audience to the Tepetak, Marshal, or Monarch. This is unusual due to the fact the last time a foreign leader had an audience with either of these bodies/people wasn't in any living person's lifetime.

Khomnian loans and work teams have been fueling the rebuilding of Manoresca along with foreign aid. Loans in order to re-kickstart Manorescan businesses have been offered; packaged with establishment of Khomnian banks in Manoresca. Khomney has also expressed interest in establishing banks in South Asians, Hansdeltania, and Frostland. This would make other nations more susceptible to a Khomnian recession, however the Khomnian economy has been incredibly bullish for the last few decades; making the possibility unlikely.

This morning the election cycle that will culminate in the May 27-29 election days has began. At least fourty-two candidates have announced their interest in election, two per province, usually from the Democratic and Conservative parties. Candidates from each of the major for the Marshallship have been announced by their respective parties, and they've been interviewed, too. These interviews and opinions can be read here, compiled:

The first interview was this morning with the incumbent Christian Party candidate, Markus Rudleisse, the former Royal Head of Infrastructure who has seen unprecedented popular support with the Conservative voter base. He has been presented as more of a centrist candidate, and has used the fact that he has already worked on fufilling his promises as a reason to vote for him. He has also announced a bill in the works in order to improve the Khomnian space program, KAS; which is also known as Khomnian Aeronautics and Space. He has also proposed pulling back municipal regulations and personal regulations in order to "give more freedom to the individual". He has openly appealed to the Conservative voter base.

The Khomnian Party refused an interview on the grounds of bias, however the Conservative candidate, Edmund Johannes, 82, has railed against Rudleisse and called him a traitor to his own party and conservatives everywhere. He has also called for generous amounts of welfare, space, foreign aid, and education funding to be pulled back from their respective departments and reallocated in the 2020 budget to demands of infrastructure, the military, and has also publicly ridiculed the president of Emaha's name, along with the names of the other candidates (to varying success). He has experienced anonymity and denunciation from his colleagues and peers; and most likely soon from other nations.

The primary Democratic candidate will be Edmund Empner, 36, who has called for the agriculture surpluses and public taxpayer shells to be contributed to welfare, education, infrastructure, environmentalist reform, and foreign aid; along with more foreign activity by the Khomnian government. He has also shown an unprecedented optimism and charisma that hasn't been seen for decades, though his opponents denounce him as naive and too young.

The Social Democratic candidate will be Klara Begbouz, who has called for multiple luxury taxes that have been opposed as possibly leading to businesses moving away, which will help fund public welfare and education expansion, a renewable energy program., and more. She has called for a corruption investigation, the banning of industry lobbies, expanded labor rights and mandatory union membership, and more radical proposals. She has became one of the most radical candidates politically to date, and is also openly bisexual, setting several precedents for a political candidate.

Khomney slams the gavel on the Frostland invitation

EMAHA CITY, EMAHA:
The Tepetak has made it clear that they refuse to accept any lowered tariffs for cat exports to Frostland after Emaha accepted them into SETA, and in fact plan to raise them. Aside from this greivance, it has been announced that Khomney is interested in approving Frostland's decision to join SETA. Infact, cat, dog, and endangered animal farming is illegal under the 1972 Animal Welfare Act, and any economic co-operation encouraging cat and dog meat farming was struck down in the 1975 Animal Welfare Act. If a SETA member intends to export cat meat to Frostland, the Khomnian government will flip it's decision and strike down the invitation.

On the flipside, Khomney is interested in exporting aluminum and opening the Frostlandian market to Khomnian poultry farming. Interest in an embassy has also been notified to Frostland, as Ashetkun has plenty of real estate, and Khomney has plenty of money to invest in a Gaventopia embassy. The foreign minister has issued a statement saying that, unlike for Emaha, Khomney is not yet ready to tear down the visa system when it comes to Frostland. Economic predictors show that Frostland will most likely have a trade deficit with Khomney due to the fact Khomney fishes and manufactures it's own trout.

Along with proposing the name "World Trade Association" if SETA was to grow any larger, the ambassador to Frostland has officially been assigned by the crown. Localised headquarters of various Khomnian food manufacturers like Whimberly Foods, which has already began work on a headquarters in Gaventopia and New Delhi through foreign construction contractors. Economic observers expect other companies to follow suit if/when Frostland joins SETA, though South Asians has already seen multiple corporations making their place in New Dehli and other cities. Khomney has also proposed that Khomney, South Asians, Emaha, and the next two nations form a Council that is responsible for approving new members.

Tulgsa Prison

Inmates out of the cell with stories to tell

TULGSA, LASMAN AND BARRACAS:
"It's almost post-apocalyptic," this hyperbole wasn't describing any type of movie or video game. It was a quote from released convict Alfred Eldente, commenting on the Khomnian prison system. Eldente is a spokesperson for the Khomnian Prison Reform, a not-for-profit organisation that has been advocating for prison reform and funding since 2014. Recently, they have requested and gotten a review of the state of 7 province's prisons; these provinces being Lasman and Barracas, Kelmine, Kristoph, Kirrimar, Nojayeyet, Lesser Meramat, and Neque.

The 58 page summary is horrifying: in an anonymous facility in Lasman and Barracas, with the lowest budget in the country, an inmate was shot eight times in the stomach with a Beretta M9. She was then left to lay there, grasping her stomach, for the remainder of the day, and wasn't found for six more days. One prisoner's account: "her guts were just.. out there and blood was crusted all over her stomach". There were no guards on duty at the time because the prison couldn't afford it.

In Tulgsa Municipal Jail, an inmate was "beaten to unrecognizability" with a makeshift weapon made out of a newspaper and pieces of the lunch tray. The inmate has still not been recognized as the fingernails nor teeth can match any records in Khomney. The summary describes this as the worst incident: "this horrifying incident was the culmination of poor in-prison policing and possible bribery" the latter note referring to the nearby guard likely being paid off by the inmate to "overlook" the incident.

This brutality isn't news. Khomnnian prisons have been notoriously terrifying to be in, to the point where it makes the fact Khomney has quite a robust legal system look like there is a sweet and benevolent god. Death and violence behind the tall fences of prisons and jails have been gruesomely described by this report and others like it. Sexual violence and human rights violations have been described within the prisons and civilian rights organizations like the KCRU or Khomnian Civil Rights Union, NHRA (National Human Rights Organization) and the aforementioned KPR have staged a protest near Pruejell.

Rudleisse has contributed this into his campaign promises, calling the report "indisputable and clear" about what actions the Kingdom should take in the future addressing prisons. Meanwhile, the death penalty was upheld for punishment, but restricted to treason and crimes against Humanity.

The Ashetkun Foriegn Ministry announced that they would like to establish relations with the Airemmian Federation (The Greatest Bestest Nation) and construct an embassy there, along with some consulates for Khomnian citizens in the country. Khomney is a democratic country, however it does not use renewable energy for most of the grid thanks to strong lobbying from Khomnian energy corporations. They have also extended an invitation to any nation to establish a embassy in Khomney, except the ones that have already been invited or haven established an embassy in Khomney. Khomney has also re-invited Hansdeltania to establish an embassy in Khomney.

The Khomnian FOB in Timbostania has been renamed to Fort Esterbeld while the work-in-progress Manoresca military base has been named Fort Augustus. The Khomnian military network across the world has been already used for location triangulation of lost planes and passenger ships by using their radios, something the bases still have. They're usually used for music, but can also used for military communications. Khomney has expressed interest in a joint military base in Emaha and Neo-Trinity to help expand Khomney's military network and give Khomney another obligation to defend the two countries (there are already cultural and geopolitical reasons to do so, especially for Emaha).

The Tepetak is considering a re-proposal of the approval of the Frostlandian invitation, but has invited Hansdeltania to SETA, which suggests the Tepetak may vote to flip the Khomnian international decision and decide to reject Frostland due to them striking down Khomnian financial infrastructure in Frostland, which the Economic Minister in Ashetkun has called "the first step to economic co-operation" and economic growth.

Road resurfacing in Brevost

BREVOST, EJELLEI:
Brevost, Ejellei, a major manufacturing town in the northern sector of the province has seen a rejuvenated infrastructure network thanks to funding from the new Tepetak infrastructure bill passed on May 14, which has been dubbed "Khomney 2020". Updates to the bill have also been made announcing that new roads, highways, railroads, and airports. Under a new amendment called the Chaptin Amendment passed this morning, significant amounts of shells are being allocated to the act in order to provide for public internet.

This was thanks to a motion lead by Edmund Empner: "Khomney needs to modernize and improve it's domestic internet capabilities so that they can be used within education and by your average civilian. The private internet service providers need a public corporation to compete with funded by taxpayer shells," said the Democratic candidate for 2020's election at a campaign rally in Ghrozny known as "Build our Nation", the campaign slogan which has been catching on with voters across the nation.

The candidates of the major political parties will be debating on June 16, 2019 in the first Khomnian national debate. Expected headliners will be Empner himself and Johannes, both of which happen to be named Edmund. Political pundits have dubbed the election cycle the "Edmund Elections" and new polls across the nation have predicted the Conservatives have a fair chance of winning, though at a slim margin. Due to Khomney being on track to the 2020 Census and new municipal updates, the election is key to whom will have stronger influence.

The Democratic and Social Democratic parties are expected to coalition almost immediately, which spells bad news for special interests lobbyists which the primary Social Democratic candidate has railed against, calling it "effectively corruption, but it's legal for people to do". Lobbying groups have already attempted to support conservative candidates and fund "grassroots" advertisements against both the Democratic and Social Democratic. Allegedly, a more extremist left-wing party is soon to be founded in the wake of the election.

Gaventopia to the backdrop of the Frostish civil war

GAVENTOPIA, FROSTLAND:
The Khomnian air force has continued to launch airstrikes in Gaventopia (the capital of Frostland) in the wake of the Frostish-Violetist civil war, and the Khomnian ground forces have been expected to already have secured the primary Gaventopian harbors. Some of these have been operated with Khomney's drone strike technology, which usually launch bursts of gunfire at targets repeatedly with different drones. Missiles have been launched from Khomnian destroyers and aircraft carriers constantly since this morning. Thousands of pounds of bombs have landed over the skyline of Gaventopia in violetist held areas, especially the west side.

When bothered about the conflict, General Van Kleist said this, noticeably optimistic compared to van Reynolds: "The Violetist terrorists aren't going to be bombed off of the earth. They'll eventually have to be rooted out from the ground with boots on the ground." 3,000 more Khomnian ground forces along with vehicles and artillery have arrived in Gaventopia. They've been followed by the Khomnian Red Cross, whose coordinates have been marked and shared with the entire coalition as to allow them leeway in airstrikes.

Many have offered theories as to the inner causes behind the conflict. "This conflict wouldn't have occurred if it wasn't for Frostland's lax constitution and law, and their liberalism." said Khomney's larger-than-life secretary of international defense as he somewhat intimidatingly fixed his tie. "They need to crack down on violetism, which has clearly shown itself to be a violent religion throughout the world with no care for human life or decency who have shown no care for Frostland's sovereignty, breaking away multiple times in the last century."

The remains of the bus

GHROZNY, EJELLEI:
Yesterday at 8:32 AM, in the middle of rush hour with buses going to and fro, three buses across the city were boarded by who would turn out to be Violetist terrorists, carrying bombs. According to law enforcement, they had emigrated from Frostland a little before the civil war began. The first one reached an intersection, and it's death sentence, at 8:35 AM. As civilians filed off, the bus exploded thanks to Louis Kresou, the attacker on the bus; shrapnel damaging the cars around it and the adjacent cars being caught into the explosion. A family of five adjacent to the city bus were all killed in the explosion. In total, 29 people died, and 6 were wounded.

The next bus was over a bridge at 8:37 AM, the attack being successful as this bomb did the most damage, destroying the bus and killing everyone inside, including the attacker, Francis 3ou. The pavement, structure, and integrity of the bridge was severely damaged, forcing the bridge to close down due to it being in a dangerous state to carry capacity any further. After all was said and done and investigated, the police department has reported that 30 people died in the blast, and and costs have been estimated at least six-hundred thousand shells.

The final attack, just as the minute hand hit eight, failed. The attacker, Frosus Marinez, was tackled by a tertiary student and beat over the head with a LGS (Lassi Game System). Though the attacker managed to hit her in the nose, the bus was stopped and she managed to subdue him for long enough for law enforcement to de-escalate the situation, disarm the bomb, and arrest the terrorist. He is currently in a hospital so that he can be medically capable to be questioned for his crimes and involvement in the other bombings.

The student at East Side Tertiary School, Eliza Woltzmeyer, has provided an interview with one of our anchors. "I saw the wiring and acted a bit impulsively. I tackled him and knocked him out with my LGS. I thought it was my only option at that point for all of the other passengers on the bus." She has been touted as a hero and been praised by the public for her actions on the bus. Her family has gotten many donations and gifts as thanks, especially from the families of those who were riding on that third bus.

Politicians have taken their own stance on the incident, calling for stronger immigration standards regarding Frostland and extreme politicians have even proposed unconstitutional religion based persecution against Violetists and other colored faiths like Yellowism, Cyanism, and even the "peace and understanding" touting Greenists. Pundits and politicians have dubbed the attack the 6/6 bus attacks or just 6/6, and Violetophobia has been on the rise in the mere hours after the incident.

The Ghrozny Times has even compiled amateur footage that has the bombings in frame and recreated each and every second of the bombings, where even selfies of the skyline are included in the compilation of footage recreating the attack. In total, there are roughly sixty-five casualties including the attackers, and politicians are already working on legislation to strengthen the police force and stop attacks like this from happening in the foreseeable future, including increased civilian surveillance, though others have called this extreme and dictatorial.

Today a landmark environmental bill narrowly passed the Tepetak 108-102, cosponsored especially by the Social Democrats, according to the preamble of the rather lengthy document the bill will be assessing energy and infrastructure primarily and making sweeping but gradual reform to both.

The bill will come into effect with the 2020 budget and credits shells to civilians who install home solar panels, renewable energy companies, places taxes and other financial punishments against non-renewable energy, allocates funding to public renewable energy like wind, solar, and hydro; and more. A classified section unreleased to the public also proposes the use of an apparently renewable liquid substance found in caves called Uthremine.

"It's a long overdue piece of legislation necessary in order to bring Khomney up to snuff with the rest of the world's environmental standards," retorts environmentalist radio show host Klaus Truszler. "It's possible in nations like the Airemmean Union (the greatest bestest nation) and Emaha, and they've been doing it for years. Khomney's just now catching up with this, but it's better late than never." His opinions have been mirrored by the various co-sponsors of the bill during their support speeches while it was under vote.

However, many have raised skepticism on the "optimistic" bill, like Sofia Cykes, a conservative Tepetak delegate:

"This bill is going to harm Khomnian businesses, workers, and by extension, families," argues Sofia Cykes, chief delegate for the Province of Kristoph, a province with significant coal and oil jobs established there as she stuffs a wad of dollars into her pocket. "It needs to be repealed by 2020 before it does real harm to the industries that Hayetians rely on to get by. Solar and wind may not grow fast enough to replace the damage this bill will cause."

Cykes isn't the only one with fears surrounding the reform. Those who work in these industries, especially the rank and file coal miner, have their own worries concerning how the bill will effect them and their community.

"It's a bit scary: My town relies on the coal companies that set up shop nearby, and so do my wife and kids," worries father and miner Otto Buschenhauer, a resident of rural Chachulla. "They're going to be laying off a lot of people to cover the expenses of paying for these new taxes, or they might even move shop. I don't know what I'll do."

Augustus was supposed to be asked his opinion on the bill, but apparently "hadn't slept in three days" and "desperately needed to prepare for the flight to Hansdeltania", so our interviewers halted their relentless assault on the twenty-one year-old.

"There's not much to worry about for those in the coal industry," interjects Minister of Energy Edward Wesser, a key supporter of the legislation coolly, "The legislation provides bonuses for hiring those who have worked at a coal company under certain pay rate for at least the last two years with a progressive increase calculated with years formerly working and agreements with the former company: think pensions and retirement."

The Minister of Energy has been doubted by various civilians and government officials. "But where are the shells for all this going to come from?" objects self-proclaimed "Ultimate Skeptic" Albert Walker. The bill states new tax dollars via squeezing the coal, oil, etc. industries will contribute to funding the bill, but Walker says that won't make up for the entire bill.

In other news, a Kelmine man has been found humping a McRonald's railing naked. After being arrested by a trio of police officers he protested "Can't a man [have relations] with his wife?!"
