Season 2 What are we waiting for?

I do not mean to sound condescending with the title but rather curious as to what (if anything other than the right time) needs to happen before season 2 happens.

Seeing as its been more than a year from the begging of season 1 and we have yet to hear anything about season 2 and that's okay the volunteer mods and admins are working as hard as ever on the main game don't have time to spend on cards a small sub game. The idea was brought up in one of the lovely discord communities (Shame less plug time to join if you haven't already! here's an invite link) That using the community for both changes to balancing and handling coding changes. Obviously it by no means is a perfect Idea but it was bounced around that if there was something say giving every card a "Fair" rarity was the biggest hiccup to season 2 I know my self and at least a few other members are Tecsavy and could help!


of course if everything is lined up and the just needs the magic button to be pressed to released season 2 all the better! I would love to see it happen I know a lot (Not all people are getting to a point there season 1 collection is complete and they are just stocking up on bank.

I always think of Season 1 truly beginning around Christmas, whenever the cards were relaunched and the idea of "seasons" was conceived. Because even though the cards came out in April, it was just a short flurry of activity, after which it more or less stagnated until the Dec relaunch. So, from that timeline, it's been less than 6 months

No idea when Season 2 starts, but I hope it'll be soon because there's a lot of nations with flags I like and I'd like to buy their nation cards, but there won't be cards for them until Season 2 starts. And I'm hoping most of those nations don't cease to exist before then.

The game intends to cater to 'most players', not the few who have giant card farm nations and by now have gotten all the cards they wanted three times over. (well, the cards which are still obtainable that is)

Also keep in mind that NS doesn't move quickly as a game. It's more of a slow evolution. Think of continental drift instead of the reckless speeds displayed by glaciers as they barrel down a mountain slope in mere decades.

In seriousness, I have to agree with Ballo. S2 would look near identical to S1. I'm sure lots of us are fine with not having a card for a year or 2 just to make sure S2 is fun and not the same stuff.

There's nothing to resolve, because there's no dispute. Each nation has a unique DBID, and that's what the cards use as an identifier. Current "Examplestan" would have a different DBID than historic "Examplestan", and a third DBID for ancient "Examplestan". Note that when a nation takes over an existing name, it is no longer possible for the earlier player to revive their nation.

It is indeed possible that 'historic "Examplestan"' might have a Season 1 card, and a more modern version might come along later - let's say in season 5, since it takes a minimum of 5 years to cycle nation names. There's no conflict, because Season One and later Season cards will have a "Season" indicator in them, just like they do now.

I can't tell you what your S2 and subsequent rarities will be, but your Season One card will always be a Legendary. Your future cards will have a different URL with the same DBID, i.e https://www.nationstates.net/page=deck/card=261305/season=2. (And I have no idea why that link redirects to your S1 card. I'm sure that will be fixed during the S2 release.)

I hope you don't mind me bumping this one, but also as a side note, if Season 2 is indeed coming, it would be great to get a countdown or a bufferzone so that we can finalise the flags of the nations/puppets.

I would hate to be taken by surprise only to see what I haven't get around changing the flags or proportions yet.

Not a bad idea, however it would make me nervous, constantly going around my puppies to be sure everything is in the right shape

I prefer fixing it already, as soon as possible; so no surprise would catch me off guard.
If we get it as Christmas present; it will surely be a surprise hahaha

Looking at other historical events like zday they happen at the same time every year and there is a day or two warrning that being said cards is the secound reoccurring event to really take place out side of some odds and ends on the fourms

I'll toss my hat into the ring.... Max, it sure would be nice to have season 2 of the cards, sooner than later. When the cards came out last year (April 2018), it was a wonderful surprise, and being so, cards were as-is. Now, most of us who have come to love this fun side-feature, are prepared, waiting, and eager to trade a whole new crop of cards (as well as existing cards that have better flags than in April 2018).

The card trading game could use an infusion of fresh collectibles -- especially for those whose nations were not around in April 2018. Can you provide something to look forward to in regards to the release of season 2 -- perhaps a teaser? Maybe a tentative date?

I'd love to see Season 2 come round soon, but that's mainly because I don't have a card myself and want to collect myself and my puppets. It'll also be interesting to see whether S1's cards will still be pullable or they won't exist anymore. It could make previous seasons cards really valuable

I believe it was noted that season 1 cards would continue to exist, but no longer be pulled from packs. So, yes, this would make season 1 cards a great deal more valuable after season 2 is released.

It was speculated that this would happen similar to how cted cards (not ex flags) can only be pulled when the card is at auction
