Welcome to the 27th edition of the International Basketball Championships!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Format: The IBC 27 consists of 48 competing nations. Therefore, the format will be as follows: There will be 8 groups of 6 nations each. There will be a double-round robin throughout the entire group stage. (Double round robin in this case means that every team in each group will face off against each opponent in their group two times, leading to a ten-game group stage.) After the group stage has ended, the top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds. There will be sixteen teams who enter the knockout rounds (Round of Sixteen). Each round from the Round of Sixteen through the Final will be a best-of-three series. Also, as stated in our bid, xkoranate 0.3.3 will be used to scorinate this event.
Grouping: There will be a total of 8 groups: Groups A-H. Filindostan will be scorinating Groups A-D and Abaja will be scorinating Groups E-H. Matches in Groups A-D will take place in Abaja, and matches in Groups E-H will take place in Filindostan.
Cutoff Times: Filindostan's timezone is UTC+8 while Abaja's timezone is UTC-5. Since their timezones have a large difference, cutoffs between Groups A-D and E-H will likely be 5 hours apart. That being said, cutoffs for Groups A-D (Abaja's side) will be around 11:00 AM UTC-5 while cutoffs for Groups E-H (Filindostan's side) will be around 4:00 PM UTC-5.
Roleplay: RP'ing regularly is encouraged to participating nations because it can increase their chances of winning IBC matches. This does not mean that they will always win, though. And it doesn't mean that a nation that doesn't RP will always lose. RP bonuses will be cumulative and RP's will be judged on quality. This includes originality. Team rosters also count towards an RP bonus. It is also encouraged for nations to place a team roster as this makes it easier (and less boring) for other opponents to RP their matches against such nations. However, before RP'ing, each competing nation must read and follow their opponents' RP Permissions. RP Permissions are to be used by nations in order to regulate what their opponents can and cannot do when RP'ing against them.
