Mendoza Estate Accords (Private|Invite Only)

The Mendoza Estate, also known as the Percy Family Home, was located in the Central Valley of the County of Mendoza, which belonged to Henry Percy, the ex-husband of the Empress of the Dutch, though she had been just Princess Anna and briefly Empress of the Royally United Privinces when she had been his wife. In fact the County of Mendoza was the last piece of that fallen country that remained, the rest swallowed up by the Gênoise and Visayans.

The estate was also home to Prince Henry, son of Henry Percy and the future Count of Mendoza and his family. It was for that reason that it was playing host to the King and Queen of New England, who hoped to see the hand of his youngest daughter, Anna as the bride for their youngest son Eugene. It was the final part in the making of a new treaty between the New English and the Dutch, and perhaps a very vital part of it.

The ranch that was the estate was large, dotted with herds of cattle and goats and sheep. Over head the Mendoza sky was cloudless and bright blue as the sun beat down unforgivingly on the land. In the northern distance rose a mountain which was still part of the ranch. The main house meanwhile was an oasis of flowers and civilization around the plains. A long drive way made its way to that main house were the Percys waited to great their guests.

William felt the shuttle moving through the air, the modified LC-50 dropship, which had seen its computer systems replaced, and a number of its combat systems removed. It also had the royal coat of arms emblazoned onto the side, marking it as a royal transport. It was also quieter than a normal LC-50, courtesy of its engines being better optimized for atmospheric flight.

As the shuttle came in to land, William reminded himself of the people he was going to be speaking to, as well as to the reason why he was doing it. This had recently become a thing that he had to do, as his memory had decayed some, though the reason for his slowly decaying memory had not yet been identified. He looked over to his wife and sons, whom were as dear to him as they had ever been, and while he had been trying his best to spend more time with them, the recent crisis had taken his attention, as he had been forced to lead the recovery effort that was still ongoing, however much progress had been made, and the new Parliament had made things easier as well.

William felt the craft touch down, and stood as the door slid open, revealing the estate, and he walked out, ready for whatever might happen.

Sophia looked nervously as the New English settled on the grounds of the estate. Sophia had always fears that such a day like this would come, where a foreign monarch would come for her daughters. She had never thought they’d be coming from dealings with the Dutch. Sophia found the the whole situation unnerving. Sophia was a daughter of the infamous or famous, though Sophia preferred infamous, Auguste of Serbia. She knew first hand the lives of those who were made to serve for crowns.

Princess Sophia has married Prince Henry for love, but in part because with him she had been allowed to escape that life that now may very well take her daughter. She held onto her husband’s arm as an anchor as she watched the New English king step out of his ship.

Karola found herself having a case déjà vu, on board this ship with her sons making their way to meet a couple who’s daughter would be a bride to one of her sons in the future. There was even the same fear that if they ever broke said agreement that assassins would come after them and kill them in their sleep. Though this time instead of being meet with great pomp and grandeur they were instead meet with the lifestyle of ranchers rather than royals.

Karola stepped out of the LC-50 dressed in a simple white shirt and jeans with newly boat cowboy boots. She had gotten the feeling that the future Count and Countess of Mendoza were not exactly the dressed in gold and silk type. She carried Eugene, the star of this agreement rather than his older brother; Alexander who walked behind his father, holding onto his hand. Karola smiled at Henry and Sophia with a wave as they walked up to the estate.

“Your Royal Highnesses, what a lovely home you have!”

Karola let her smile brighten, cover her eyes from the merciless sun. She should have brought a hat. She glanced over at William. Karola had been one of the first to notice William’s memory problems and had been consulting all sorts of doctors to make sure he was alright. That compounded with the crisis made her worry about him. She hoped that his meeting would let him regain some strength in simple meetings.

Prince Henry and Princess Sophia

Henry smiled back at Karola and William as he patted his wife’s arm affectionately. He knew that she was nervous about this meeting and what it would mean if she gave her permission to give their daughter’s hand in marriage to Prince Eugene.

“Please, call me Henry.”

He gesture to his wife.

“And this is my wife Sophia. Please, come in, come in. Let’s get out of this heat.”

Henry waved the King and Queen of New England inside.

William nodded, he was content to allow his wife do most of the talking for the time being, she was more knowledgeable about it that he he was. He simply followed them as he was led inside, holding his wife’s hand as they walked, he had been reliant on her as of late, as she helped to make up for his failing memory on many an occasion, which had been a saving grace many times.

Henry lead the New English inside, the group being meet with the sweet release of the trying heat of the outside and then comfort of air conditioning. He lead them into the living room of the main house. With large windows that looked out over the flat fields and there stood a great fire place, though at the moment there was no fire. A large painting hung over the mantle flanked by the mounted heads of bucks. The painting was of Henry’s mother, Anna Charlotte from when she was a princess, shortly before she was pregnant with Henry.

“Please, have a seat.”

Henry directed the royals to join him and his wife on the leather couches that were placed down. He grabbed a silver bell from off the coffee table that acted as a centerpiece to the arrangement of the couches and rung it.

“Constance, Anna!”

Two girls, one nearly seven and the nearly three came rushing into the living room, coming to a a stop next to their mother. Henry have a small smile as he gestured over to the two little girls, pulling the smaller one up into his lap

“Our daughters, our eldest Constance and our little Anna.”

Karola smiled at Henry and Sophia. The two seem pleasant and their daughters well behaved. She encouraged little Eugene to wave at the slightly older Anna. That was to be her future daughter-in-law, Karola thought to herself, it all went well. It would be a perfect match. The Percy’s were royal but not so associated with the Dutch Imperial family that they’d be seen as foreign royals. As she sat with Eugene she spoke.

“Will this is Eugene, and his brother Alexander, of course. Anna is positively adorable, and your Constance is so well behaved.”
