A Letter from Monsieur The King

To The Ambitious Architects of The World,

It's seems by God's will that tragedy has been inflicted upon our people in Paris today, Notre-Dame de Paris has pretty much been destroyed by flames. The great jewels of the crown of France and Navarre have been saved, as well as the relics brought to Notre Dame by Saint Louis IX, thankfully. The monarchy of France will not sit idly by and allow this magnificent house of god fall into the muck of history. We have set immediately to rebuilding, no, building a greater and more holy edifice to remember and glorify God on earth.

That being said, we need aid in getting this monumental project completed. Funding is not an issue, as we have levied a new tax all across France, and are being matched one-to-one in financing by the Borgian Bank. What we need is resources and a grand architect to give us a divine vision for the future, a holy place that could and will be heaven on earth. Alongside this letter will be an application for architects, and will include any resources you wish to be available for purchase by France.

The architect of the new Notre Dame must be Catholic.

To The Ambitious Architects of The World,

We thank you all for the submissions thus far, and we will immediately begin buying our resources from Cartoonia and Luziyca. We, however, utterly reject the submissions from Al Dawla and Newark Aristocracy. In the former case, we will not allow Notre Dame de Paris to be replaced with an infidel mosque, although some Andalusian influences could be utilized by other Catholic architects. The Newarks are rejected on the principle of mediocrity and ambivalence. Not only is their architect a heathen, his ideas for the future of France are bland.

Old Notre Dame is gone. Nouvelle Notre Dame will be different, better, and glorious. We are still looking at the other submissions but have not made a final selection as of yet. The architects must know that their work will be criticqued and changed by the King himself as he wishes.

Sir Bulregard was born into House Petit, one of the great houses/clans of Zorcor dating back before the formation of Zorcor. From a young age, art was is one true love. He painted and sculpted, until the age of 18. It was then he decided to create what he called practical art. So he went abroad to The Colledge of Vitton to learn how to engineer. When he came back he was commissioned by a local group of fellow Xilon Maxiors to rebuild the lost temple. He spent a year finding everything he could about it. He read all written documents about it, even the conflicting ones, and studied all the paintings. After a year he started construction. It took 2 years to finish, and then he went back to school at the new Estonto University. Their he learned new technics and was rediscovered by Joseph Zorcor, the owner. Mr.Zorcor suggested he build the at the time new royal family the Zápolya, a new palace. In 1.5 Years he was finished constructing the Silver Bay Palace and was rewarded handsomely, and was knighted.

It has been decided by our grace that the architect, Bartholmew J.Simpson from Cartoonia as the architect for the new cathedral on Ile de Cite in Paris. His work is different and graceful, but not obnoxiously so, and he keeps to the true faith. We accept your second design as a base for building, with some alterations. The transepts and crossing will be removed entirely for one large circular room. This circular transept will be the base for a massive dome, made entirely of stained glass. This will be a cathedral of light, of heavenly beauty. It's plan shall be akin to this:

The dome itself will obviously be framed in steel with the stained glass, and its imagery shall be resplendent. It shall have a massive image of Louis XIV's sun looking down upon the parishioners at its center, with biblical scenes being enacted out between its rays. At the four cardinal directions on the circle shall be the coats of arms of France and Navarre, and at the Intercardinal directions shall be the arms of the Borgia. The cathedral shall be built out of marble and granite, and its interior shall be gilded and embellished with precious metals in the rococo style. We shall purchase all resources from all nations offering them, regardless of faith. The nave's columns will statues of the kings of France, arms outstretched, baring the weight that god has put upon our shoulders. The original rose glass windows have been preserved and shall be part of the new structure as well.

We shall put St. Peters and the Sistine Chapel to shame. Nouvelle Notre Dame will be the Versailles of the church.
