They are a product of a way of thinking that only works if people were inanimate clouds of thoughts and data without emotions or instincts etc - basically, if humans weren't bound by the laws of nature in any way.
There is no natural principle that says if you say something I don't like, like if you humiliate me, I shouldn't react violently in anyway. Actually it's arguably the other way, since humans are social beings. Sure - one can argue that violence is a bad idea for other reasons - but there are no magical inalienable "rights" involved in that.
What does exist, however, is the need of dignity of all living beings. Respecting the dignity of other living beings and yourself is the most fundamental practice to achieve and spread happiness around you.

Note: I am not saying that we need to start beating people and committing genocide. I'm only saying that there are NO objective or essential human rights, morals, etc.

Human society is a part of the "world around", and it is shaped by humans and their ideas.
In turn, human society shapes the world around through a process called "civilisation".
So, yeah, human rights do not exist in the same way a rock exists, but they are rather important in the current state of human society.

“Hitherto philosophers have merely interpreted the world. The point, however, is to change it.”
Humanity has, up until this point, shifted, evolved, etc. in terms of social organization. For example, feudal Japanese society produced their means of subsistence (i.e ensured their survival) in a drastically different manner than, say, modern English society. This difference in social organization, difference in modes of production, is what distinguishes modern England from Feudal Japan. We see here, then, that mere ideas do not change the world. The American Revolution, for example, was not the result of philosophers theorizing about a better world; rather, it was the result of merchants and colonialists responding to taxation. We can see this in the old Soviet Union. Socialist ideas certainly dominated rhetorical life in the USSR, but after even the most simplistic analysis of Soviet economics it is obvious that Soviet “socialism” is merely another form of capitalism. Ideas, giant red flags, hammers, and sickles, do not make socialism magically appear.
It is on this level that “human rights,” a human idea, become the most unhelpful, banal conceptions. Not only do they not exist on a material, physical level, but they also provide a false consciousness, an ideological fantasy. Not only does the idea of “human rights” prevent an individual from truly noting their material existence, they also serve as a defense of idealistic class society. Ideals in general, e.g. human rights vs despotism, individualism vs collectivism, and libertarianism vs authoritarianism are trivial banalities which serve as a distraction from the true material world.
So, no, civilization does not alter the material world. It is actually the opposite, civilization is only shifted when the material mode of production is changed. It can and will never be the opposite. Any belief otherwise merely serves to preserve the present social order of things.
