Introduction
The Harrington-Poindexter Steel Company, sometimes shortened to H-P Steel, is an Abajan corporation which specializes in the production of steel. During it's 200+ years of existence, the H-P Steel Company has been producing steel-made material that has been transported all throughout Abaja as well as , for a time, Britonisea. The continuously growing company with its efforts has slowly became one of the most dominant forces in the manufacturing industry. Since it's foundation, the company had produced and delivered trillions of pounds of steel to other domestic corporations which relied heavily on steel, and H-P Steel is now willing to expand their efforts internationally, providing foreign companies their finest manufactured steel.

History
From the years of 1805-1936, Abaja was colonized by the Grand Britonish Kingdom (GBK), composed of the nations BRITONISEA, NIGHTOM, ALOQUIRBE, and ESTOGIUM. GBK industrialists, mainly those from Britonisea, came fourth to establish cities and businesses there, and the Harrington-Poindexter Steel Company was one of them. The H-P Steel Company was founded in 1809 in Queens, Abaja by Britonish businessmen and millionaires Matthew P. Harrington and Ulysses Poindexter. It's original name was the "Queensland Steel Company." However, the name was changed to the "Harrington-Poindexter Steel Company" in 1832, when the company began to branch off to other cities from it's main point Queensland (now Queens.) The name change also brought a greater appreciation to its founders.
The H-P Steel Company was the first Abajan-based company that specialized in the production of steel. From it's foundation, Matthew P. Harrington searched endlessly for employees he could hire to manufacture steel, mainly those with proper education. Almost immediately, Abajans eager for work started piling in. By 1820, there were 17,000 Abajan employees working for H-P Steel. By 1850, there were over 55,000. These metalworking Abajans would be called "Blacksmiths." They created objects from steel (and sometimes wrought iron) by foraging and using tools to hammer the metal into shape. At the time, working conditions for Abajans were quite dangerous and most of the steel produced was shipped to Britonisea and other parts of the GBK, but since pay was higher than many other skilled jobs, Abajans stuck with it. Together they helped construct ships, build bridges, create railroads & buildings (in Abaja and in the GBK) and later in the 1900's construct airplanes and cars. Very quickly, the H-P Steel Company was Abaja's largest business of manufacturing.
In 1817, the New Plymouth Lumber County was founded in New Plymouth, Abaja. Three years later, they partnered with H-P Steel until 1891. The area around New Plymouth, being rich in pine and oak trees, gave the Britonish a major opportunity to make even more money for their Grand Britonish Kingdom, especially with the increasing need for wood that citizens of the GBK could burn during winter time. H-P Steel would then produce steel for the plating of ships that would ship the pinewood from the Lumber County to the communities in the GBK. Steel railroads would have trains distribute wood to the H-P Steel Company for shipping. Both companies made profit, until the New Plymouth Lumber County was unable to recover from it's significant loss of workers and dispersed in 1891.
By the 1930's the H-P Steel Company was run completely by skilled Abajans. The Chief Executive Officer was Ade Masamba, a previous worker who replaced William Mercier, a Britonish businessman who took over the company from 1899-1932. As Abaja looked toward independence, they wanted no part of settlers from the GBK running Abajan businesses. From 1932-1936, as Abajan forces battled the GBK, demand in the Steel Company skyrocketed. Stainless and carbon steel was needed for the early Abajan planes and their engines. Ships were also to be plated with steel (and iron) for naval combats with the Britonish Kingdom. Bullets were also needed for guns. Most bullets at the time were made of lead and jacketed with copper, but some were made of steel as well. As a response, the H-P Steel Company hired more workers and increased working hours. They transferred steel material through railroad lines that were spreading throughout Abaja at the time. With the help of H-P Steel, Abaja was able to gain an upside against the GBK and won their independence in 1936. The Company had made an estimated $186 million between 1932-1936 from military demand alone.
The 1960's-1970's saw the advancement in both automobiles and building construction, and the abandonment of railways for transportation. In 1964, new CEO Franklin Adam Mosi began advising the use of steel for car engines. The H-P Steel Company then decided to partner with Eyeugbé Motors, founded in Kingston in 1953. In the mid 70's H-P Steel realized that Eyeugbé was falling behind heavily in popularity, and they began losing money. They went another route: constructing buildings. With a strong, dense material like steel, it provided further greater strength to buildings. It was also easier to build with steel than with brick, and building with the material was cost-effective, meaning it didn't cost as much as other ways of building.
Today, just as often as before, Harrington-Poindexter Steel Company still produces valuable steel for airplanes and ships. The production of stainless-steel objects such as utensils and medical equipment have also surged from previous years. More buildings continue to be built upon by steel and other smaller steel corporations such as "Northern State Steel" (est. 1961) have emerged.
