A series of pieces delivered a two-million pound structure's components, largely out of Northern Nevada. This structure - nicknamed Watchful Eye - was something Europeans could only speculate on. Thankfully, advances in automation and many willing experts have hurried along the project with round-the-clock construction. The platform, a world first, sets Cascadia as the first nation to address extraterrestrial warfare. A highly-televised test showed Cascadian High Command bombarding a hastily constructed ghost city and wreaking the structural havoc equivalent of a nuclear bomb. Deep craters ruined the mocked up city utilities, and destroyed transportation. Several buildings burst in to flames and collapsed over the course of a day. A second test saw test missiles shot from the sky with alarming precision, harmlessly floating a mere twenty-five miles from their launch point before being downed. Five of the five test missiles, each coming from different Cascadian States, were shot down with little delay. The European Union's silence was broken merely by citizens on social media alarmingly noting that this weapon could single-handedly bring down every satellite and space station and threaten any location on Earth with a remote designation of coordinates. Upper Corporate is tight-lipped on the specifics, but assures citizens that this weapon will pay dividends back to Cascadia. It is speculated that there are weapons of mass destruction, including chemical and nuclear bombs on said platform. Chinese President Li Zhihao offered praise for the combined Cascadian effort. "This genius platform will let us finally disarm our enemies for good. Where others saw waste, Strohm saw opportunity." The American response, once bellicose, was now rather tame in comparison - promising full retribution for their crimes and brash disregard for international law. The world's internet is held firmly captive in Strohm's hand, and the reliance on e-commerce as a growth mechanism seems to serve as an Achilles' Heel for the Nordic Economic Union, and European Union. Even the allies of Cascadia have reason to take pause, for this one breakthrough provides an asymmetry that could very well redefine and create a new era of gunboat diplomacy, with Cascadia able to seize control of the limelight and apply leverage to even those that would have made a credible threat in the past. The heavy investment in the defense of Corporate assets already had international experts conceding that the world was 'not prepared for [total warfare] with Cascadia'. The rapid militarization and dream of self-sufficiency fulfilled, it is no secret that the higher-ups set their ambitions largely towards the stars. Whether space provides a new economic potential or merely serves as a series of buoys in our limited solar system remains to be seen, but the effects are presently undeniable. A world gripped in anticipation, and the potential for global disarmament enforced at the end of a slew of projectiles raining from the sky. Strohm has not released a statement on the success yet; instead opting to seek out key world leaders - striking while the iron is hot. Citizens are advised to go about their day as normal, Cascadia as we know her is no longer under threat; and is in fact due for further expansion. Cold and calculated, the traditional allies of America seal her fate. With the heat applied, European leaders have been in heated discussions regarding counter-action, though their constituency universally sing a tune of sorrow and fear - unable to be filtered out of the zeitgeist with even the finest media fabrication. While some sovereigns remain obstinately anti-Cascadia, more nations are willing to bring to an end the tensions of the world. It is no secret, though perhaps it is a reality not admitted, that Cascadia has won the 'conflict of conflicts', or the world war. Indian Prime Minister Meninder Anand stands opposed, shaming former allies in the BRCCS alliance and disparaging Strohm; much to no culmination. No Indian missiles, and no last-ditch effort to stand alone. Whether they will participate in diplomatic proceedings or not remains to be seen; though at swordpoint, their hand will certainly be forced. A wasteful, feckless force incapable of enforcing a classroom's rules to an increasingly mentally maligned generation saw a lack of skill retention. An uneven state-by-state system saw some children indoctrinated by Bronze Age cults or by parents that took stock in any other peasant's flight of fancy. Constantly-shifting standards saw to radical grade-by-grade scores. All the while, children were often delinquent and proud of their lack of attendance. The brilliance of the Cascadian System lies simply in these academies. Brilliant minds educate our children for twelve hours a day, six days a week. The children are resource-secure, and are given a nutritious diet, allowed plenty of exercise and opportunity for socialization. All standards of living met in full, they are merely expected to return a vigor for education. They are allowed many opportunities for electives, which involve everything from Drill to Cooking. On Sunday, they may indulge in the consumerism of adults within the confines of the academy grounds, enjoying earned privileges and contributing to the greater civil economy. Cascadian children are driven to have a great curiosity, and a fierce competitiveness tempered by cooperation and exercises in unity. With the failed Atomic Family dreams buried, the Corporate Childhood proves superior, giving this first generation the high likelihood of overall success. Even those filtered out of higher-level academics are contributing to the economy, or providing exemplary Civil Corps service to citizens and tourists. A childhood with a clean transition in to adulthood is guaranteed; employment beyond is easy to find, and opportunity abounds for entrepreneurial minds that need not burden themselves with the later years of information that their brains simply don't retain.
