Postby Port Ember » Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:00 pm

Welcome one, Welcome all to the Republic of Port Ember! Port Ember is an island nation, consisting out of two large inhabited islands, and many small unhabited islands. This RP plays off in the the Capital City - Port Ember Megalopolis - populated by 800 million people. The Megalopolis is roughly 200km wide and 400km long. This RP plays off in the Waterstad Borough, or popularly named by foreigners as the "Docks District".

Here wealth, culture and enterainment rules in a capitalist paradise where anything under the sun may be bought and sold. Foreigners flock to the Megalopolis for their chance at wealth, with rumors stating that even the poorest workers can afford a standard of living known as "middle class" in foreign nations.

Welcome to the Golden Land - the land of wealth and oppertunity!!

OCC POST:

- The local muncipality can be contacted for work or accomodation.

- When you post, your first line must be Bolded, stating your location and character name.

- i will every now and then post a post im coloured font. This is news or such which affects the entire city. Weather for example.

- As mentioned this is a large city. Feel free to TG me, to add extra locations. Im up for expansion.

- When posting, your first line must be bolded, stating your character name and current location.

- Please keep the OOC posts in the OOC Thread!

Phenom & Evan Snyder, Seaward Meridian 20km off shore
The sun was still a few hours from rising although the sky to the east had begun to show signs of transitioning from a dark inky black to the pre-dawn cyan coloured light, on board are 2 passengers who have paid for a trip to Port Ember for a short working Visa and these two people are currently standing on the deck looking forwards with the bridge above them.

"Over there Evan, I think that's the port" says Penny, pointing with her natural arm whilst holding a pair of binoculars with her cybernetic arm,

Evan takes his binoculars and brings them to his eyes, "yup. dwarf's Kai'Ilana River"

From the top of the mast, the sound of the ship's horns shatter the sound of the near silence of the morning and the gentle vibration that had accompanied them for the last 3 weeks dies away as the captain a deck above them gives the command to the helms man to reduce engine power to near idle as the pilot came aboard, the pilot cutter peeling off shortly afterwards. Shortly after the pilot came aboard the throttles are advanced again and the rumbling returns and ever closer the port begins to come closer to view.

"lets get our kit Penn"

"aye, last breakfast aboard ship and all on the house too" replies Penny as she leans back from the railings to go back inside the ship to make her way through the identical corridors to her cabin. The ship leans over slightly to one side as the ship is steered to follow a deep water channel however.

About half an hour later
The ship's movement came to a slow, steady stop and again the virbration comes to a complete stop and then came a knock on the cabin door
"Phenom, Evan can you go to the car deck please, we're about to off load"

"yeah sure" replies Evan, grabbing his bag. "come on Tiz"

Tiz, (short for Tiswas - a greay and white cat) just looks at Evan, "meow" he calls as Evan clips a leash to his collar and so the move down to the car deck begins, Tiswas leading the way followed by Evan and penny. On the car deck, crews are going about the task of unclipping the various vehicles that are going to be offloaded here and one of those is a rather nice looking vehcle in the form of a 730hp tractor trailer with a refrigerated trailer on the back which holds their posessions. Penny unlocks the door and puts Tiswas into the cabin as Evan turns on the isolator although with the cat securely in the cabin Penny goes around the truck to ensure that everything is in place.

"okay looks like we're good" comments Penny as she climbs inside and takes her seat which hisses as it adjusts itself to the height set by penny as Evan goes pulls the documents out from the locker. Penny turns the key causing the large V8 to begin to purr before gently threading the truck off the ramp. "first place - examination, then the port complex to let them know we're here although i foresee us working in the docks possibly driving one of those things" says Penny, pointing to one of the container pickers "ya never know we might even get to hire a driver but for now lets get ourselves settled in for the next six months" Penny then flicks a switch to light up the 8 spot lights and then another to bring the strobe lights to life.

Moments later the suspension hisses as the truck settles onto the hard standing as Penny begins to make her way through the port complex and to the import area, letting the V8 just pull the truck along on idle.

Waterstad International Airport. Kiana and Caja.
The two women, who had just cleared customs and were now walking inside of the terminal, would not be recognized as Selkie. When one thought about the rather distinctive people, who seen as a bit quirky, but fun, one fought about the Geansai, the fur-lined traditional dress, which, especially in the female version, turned heads left and right, or horsemen in the distinctive half-cuirasses.
No one thought about two young women in Smart Casual.
The older one, in her mid-twenties, had her flaming red hair open and her brown-red eyes hidden in behind sunglasses, replacing her passport in the pocket of her shorts, which went to her knees, plus a blouse with the topmost buttons open for ventilation (officially, at least), a smile on her face.
This tropical archipelago, real tropics, unlike the Oileánra-Archipelago, was a welcome change for her from the dreary and snowy winter back home. Riverwood was buried underneath a thick blanket of snow, and so were half of the Free Lands, including Traverse.
Her companion, two years younger, was a blonde with her hair done up in a knot, her emerald green eyes sparkling directly at everything around her as she moved forward in hotpants and a white blouse, a light jacket over it.
Both wore sturdy shoes and the attire of both of them emphasized their curves - and there were plenty of curves to emphasize. They felt one or two heads turn as they moved through the terminal, their bags carried by themselves.
Their names were Caja Rois of the Tribe of Fermanagh for the redhead and Kiana Rúisc of the Tribe of Waterford for the blonde and they worked both for a company known as the Mangaire Dealership Company Limited with seat near Traverse, Free Lands of the Selkie.
Although they were primarily in Port Ember for Business, they would not let the fun come up too short.
As they stepped out of the terminal, ignoring the gift shops, it was Kiana, who asked, speaking Selkie: "So... what now?"
"We get a taxi to transport us to our hotel.", Caja said with a small smile, "The Upperdeck. Quite a well-renown hotel. In any case, there, we set up shop, get used to the climate, pick out clothing for the night and spent the first night looking around town for a bit. Business begins in the second night."
"'Looking around town' means...?", Kiana asked with a small grin.
"Having a bit of fun, yes.", Caja replied with a grin of her own, "And as one is hard-pressed to find something illegal here..." She shrugged. "Just try to stay away from drugs, okay?"
Kiana nodded. "I promise, Caja. And I'll keep you away from them, too!"
"Thank you.", Caja replied with a small, grateful smile, then switched to English as they finally found a taxi with a driver, "Hi, there! Can you bring us to the Upperdeck?"
As she bowed down to the window, the taxi driver got a good view of her ventilation system.

Port Ember Megalopolis Docks - Vehicle Inspection Office

Sally was an old grumpy lady working at the Vehicle Inport Office on the docks. It was not a nice job. It was a serious drab to deal with hundreds of foreigners on a daily basis bringing in their vehicles, wanting to chase the golden dream in PE. Many of these people could not speak english, and had their vehicles in terrible condition. Telling a man he needs to repair his brakes when english is not an option... is a challenge. But oh well - the pay was good.

An odd looking couple started the vehicle clearance process with her. She stared for a while at their funny looking jewelry. As they approached.. "Morning. Welcome to Port Ember. Hope you speak english. If not - don't care. I'm Sally - please forget it - im not yer mum. I need to see ownership papers, want to see your condition of your lights, brakes, tyres and undercarriage. I don't care whats in the back." She started walking towards the truck and pointed to the young women's hair - "darlin hope thats a phase.."

Waterstad International Airport. - Taxi
Tim - a 24 year old lad with shiny black hair and blue eyes - loved his job. He met new people every day of his life. Locals and foreigners alike graced him with their presence. Smart, stupid, nice, rude, excited, shy, thin, fat, nice smelling, rotten - he has seen them all. He loved a good story - and he got a new one every day. Life was good.

Especially at this moment, when two beautifull (jawdropping to be precise) girls entered his cab. And by doing so - he glimpsed a short second of heaven between the blouse of the flaming redhead girl. Tim flashed a wide smile.

"Oi ladies! Certainly lasses - its a short ride - a quick thirty minutes. It's a good place to stay! My niece used to work there ya know. I take it ya lasses aint from around?" He finally pulled away drivinf off to the Upperhouse Hotel. While driving, he took more than a few quick glimpses in his rear view mirror at the beauties sitting in his cab. The radio softly played a local radio station, a modern folkrock song was playing. "ooi swing a little more, a little more on the Devil's dance floor. Grab a lass - pour a rum - Swing a lil more on the devils dance floor.."

Port Ember Megalopolis Docks - C.S. Cooper Freighter - Kevin Lee

Kevin Lee stood aboard the bow of the C.S. Cooper, a Silver Port Dockyards Ltd. Pattern 253 freighter, as it pulled into Port Ember Megalopolis Docks. Before him lay the cityscape of one of the most well known cities in the entirety of the Northern Ocean. As he took it in, he smiled as he muttered under his breath,

"Port Ember, the underworld's dream come true. A nation with literally no restrictions and an open market."

Once the C.S. Cooper docked, Kevin walked down the gangplank and watched as the sailors from the ship coordinated with the dock workers as they started to unload cargo containers. As he watched them unload, he pulled out a black phone and flipped through some of the screens looking over data. Once he was finished, he looked up to see a car being carefully lifted off the deck of the ship and transferred to land. Once it was on the docks, Kevin waited for the black shipping container to be moved. As it was being moved, a flatbed truck pulled up and the container was placed on the back of it. Knowing his cargo was secure, Kevin walked over to the car and pulled out his keys. Finding the right one he opened the door on the black Cadillac CT6 with tinted windows. Climbing in, he turned on the car and drove a short distance to the Dry Freight Office with the truck in tow. Prior to coming to Port Ember, he had made sure that his contacts in the country would ensure that the cargo container wouldn't be searched to thoroughly by the port authorities.

Port Ember Megalopolis Docks - Dry Freight Office - Customs Desk

Behind the Customs Desk in the Dry Freight Office sat a young lady, appoximately 20 years old, with long black hair tied in a single center pony. Her sparkling green eyes could give away her boredom to the watchfull observer. Clarice did not enjoy her job. It was so... peasant. But it was an easy job and it paid the bills to keep her small apartment and kept her in university.

A young man approached her desk. She liked what she saw. "Cute" she whispered under her breath.

"Good morning sir - Welcome to Port Ember, the land of wealth and dreams.." she said in flattish tone revealing that this line has been utter a thousand times before.

"Papers please?" The man handed her his papers. She was typing as she read out loud "Okay... Kevin Lee. Came in on the C.S. Cooper. Brought in a container.. which have been pre-approved.." she looked up at him. She knew what this meant. Cargo which was checked before custom clearance are always part of a bribe. She smiled - Georgie better give her cut.. she needs a spa day! She flashed him a flirty smile. "I like the mysterious type.. anyyyyho.. ya need to take the Cadillac CT6 to vehicle inspection office.. I'm not askin whether yer here for bussiness or pleasure.. Here in PE, its all the same thing really. Enjoy yer stay mister." She blew him a small kiss and winked.

Caja smiled as Tim, although she did not know his name, replied in the positive and that it wasn't a long ride. And her smile only grew as she saw, that he was... not too opposed to their looks. And the little view of paradise he received.
She shifted slightly on the back seat, accentuating her figure slightly, the strap running between her 'argumentation amplifiers'. Kiana had strapped in, too, the strap running along a similar path, but more upright.
Both saw the glances in the rearview mirror even during the drive.
"We aren't.", Caja the Redhead replied to the question, smiling, "We are from the Free Lands and here business and pleasure. What about you? Are you from here?"
For the two Selkie, this was harmlessly (or at least willing no harm) messing with a lad's head.

Penny & Evan, port of entry
"Good Morning" replied Penny in a tone that is way to happy for this ungodly hour, "so ya want the ownership details, okay" her voice had a slight Scottish twang to it as being from Invergordon makes her a true highland lassie

Penny reached up and popped open the locker with efficiency, almost as if she knew what she was doing, she also handed down a second folder which gave Sally every thing she needed, from MOT test details to service details, even if the truck had to have a new bulb inside the cab there is a document for it, yet despite being a 2009 model, it looks as fresh as one that had just rolled off the line in Sweden.

Evan looked at Penny, "I'd hate her job, trying to get folk to understand you when they dont speak the same tongue, not to mention those who try to bring in more than they're allowed in the case of cigarettes and beer"

Taxi - en route to Upperdeck Hotel

Tim really loved his job. He really did. Being able to constantly observe a small piece of heaven sitting in his cab - was what life was all about.

"Aye! Born and bred lassie. Was born near the docks. Never bin outside the country - unlike the rest of the locals. No matter, lifes a good ere! Ya know, most foreigners coming here for business ends up movin ere. Dont know much bout the Free lands. That makes ye Selkie lasses ya? Heard our government is busy with some kind of arms deal with yers over the tellie. Maybe ya'll end up ere as well one day, like most travlin ere? I'd be happy to show you me land. None knows me land like me!"

Tim kept throwing small stares through his rear view mirror. He had a constant big smile on his face. He was not too worried about keeping his eyes on the road, all new native PE Vehicles were installed with an auto collision detection system. He could stare all he want (just not get caught - he does not want to be rude)

Port Ember Docks - Vehicle Inspection Office

Sally took the documents from the women named Penny. Sally did not like her. She had no reason - she just hated her job. Penny was nice.. which was frustrating since she could not be a complete monster to her. And their paperwork was in order and organised and clean. No coffee spills or oil marks like she is used to.

"Egh olright not that bad.. Ya yer paperwork seems to be fine." She threw a glance at the truck - it looked as if it had just left the factory floor. Marvelous machine she was.. "Ya its fine you passed." She took out a small official stamp from her pocket, stamped the paperwork, and handed it back to Sally. "Enjoy yer stay" Sally turned around and started walking back to her office to prepare for her next client. As she walked away she whispered coarsley under her breath - "and fix that damm hair.."

Both Selkie had detected his stares and while they knew enough people, who would mind, they did not.
In the words of Nora Cathlong, he could look as long as he wanted, but the moment he got touchy, they would cut off his balls and shove them up his arse.
"We might take you up on the offer for a little tour, cara. And we might return the favour, if you ever get to our neck of the woods!", Caja said with a small smile. She knew of the arms deals between the Free Lands, or rather SDY, and Port Ember, mainly due to the excellent connections between Gabha and SDY. Cara was a term in Selkie, describing a friend or, more informally, a pal. "I'm Caja, that's Kiana."
"Hi!", the blonde said with a smile and a wave.

"Pleasure, Tim.", Caja said with a smile, leaning forward and hugging the co-driver's seat from behind, "So far, PE's a good place. The taxi drivers are nice, though." She smiled a bit radiantly. Kiana smiled and looked out of the window.

Caja smiled to her fellow Selkie and asked her something in their melodic, song-like language.
Kiana nodded and replied in the same.
The redhead turned back to Tim. "That'd be awesome!", she said and grinned, "So, plan. You drive us to the Upperdeck and we get our bags into our rooms. Then we'll do a city tour, of course generously paid, until, say... five." She let a beat pass. "You drop us off at the Upperdeck and the two of us meet again for those drinks at seven."
She let a beat pass.
"Sounds good?"

It was the first time Tim heard someone speak Selkie - and he liked it. It was quite... pleasing.

"Aye sounds good to me! But lassies.. ya know that'l cost ya a lot dont ya? There is many more affordable means of travelin around ey. Just so ya know.. Me mum didin't raise a crook. Oh yea - hotel is 5 minutes away."

Taxi en route to the Upperdeck.
Kiana and Caja.

Caja smiled.
"Thank you for the warning, Tim.", the redhead said, "But we have the funds. And if everything else fails, I am sure, that we can find... alternative methods of payment."
She said that with a certain seductiveness in her voice, letting the suggestion sink in and his brain draw his own conclusions, before she clarified.
"Kiana is a good driver and I'll whip you up a meal for a lifetime!", she clarified with a grin.

Taxi en route to the Upperdeck

Tim coughed. An embarresd and shocked cough. Which led to a blush. This time a very visible blush. And a small nervous laughter.

"Well in that case - Tim aint saying no!" Flashing a large grin "Interestingly slavery is the only thing you may not in trade in, in PE.." Tim spoke alot and about nonsense when he was nervous.

The taxi stopped in front of the Upperdeck Hotel. It was a large Stone building, build in the 1800's. It was the most renowned hotel in the borough (although not the city as large). "You have arrived at yer destination lassies. Tim at yer service!" Tim tipped his peak cap as he spoke.

Taxi en route to the Upperdeck.
Kiana and Caja.

Caja smiled.
"Is it slavery if we trade in services? You show us the city, we cook for you?", she asked as she undid her belt, Kiana already out of the car, "Something to think about while you wait."
And a moment later, she stood on the pavement, getting her bag from Kiana.
"Someone has a date tonight...", the blonde sing-songed to her friend as soon as they were out of earshot, then looked up. "Nice building."
"Indeed.", Caja replied.
With their bags in one hand and getting their IDs out with the other, they entered the lobby and approached the reception desk.

Upperdeck Hotel

An impeccably dressed young man was seated behind reception. He had short brown hair and brown eyes. His dark suit and bright yellow tie was all clean and very neat. He was the face of the hotel.. and he knew it. His gold plated nametag on his jacket revealed his name to be Johnathan. Two young women approached his desk, a redhead and a blonde.

"Good morning. Bonan matenon (esperanto for good morning). Welcome to the Upperdeck Hotel. How may I assist you fine ladies today?"

Upperdeck. Kiana and Caja.
"Hi.", Kiana said with a small smile, "We have rooms reserved here by the Mangaire Dealership Company Limited. We are Kiana Rúisc of the Tribe of Waterford and Caja Rois of the Tribe of Fermanagh. Do you need our IDs?"
She took over speaking, setting her bag down and reached into her pocket.
The rooms, which their boss had reserved, were of medium to good quality for the house, middle price range, and according to him, next to each other and paid in advance. If all worked, though...
Caja looked around.

Upperdeck. Kiana and Caja.
The two Selkie exchanged a quick glance as they took the keys.
"Thank you... Johnathan.", Kiana said with a small smile, reading the name tag, "Ocean view sounds fun! See ya!"
And with that, the two took their bags, being do-it-yourself-girls (and because their bags included materials, which they didn't want in the wrong hands), and went to the third floor, to the left.
Kiana took 312, Caja 313.
Depositing their bags, appreciating the ocean view and putting the bags on the respective beds.
Both sent a message back home to Cíochbheart House near Traverse from their smartphones: Arrived well and sound. City tour now. Hugs and kisses!
Around ten minutes later, they were at Tim's Taxi again, Caja leaning down at the co-driver window with a grin, allowing him again a good view of paradise: "Mind if I sit on the co-driver seat?"
Kiana sat down on the rear bench.

Taxi outside Upperdeck.

Tim blushed again as he noticed a glimpse of.. paradise. He could smell the beautifull angels inside his vehicle. And he liked it.. alot. Tim loved his job.

"Offcourse not lassie! My ma raised a gentleman! Right so what ye lassies looking for?" said as he started his bright green cab.

[Note to all: Lassie is the way the locals addresses a young women. Lass is the form of addressing an older women (late 30's and up). This is a common form of respect to them.]
