Inaccurate Stats?

Postby Rastafarianastan » Tue Feb 12, 2019 1:43 am

Sometimes The Stats Don't Seem To Accurately Reflect The Issue And Legislation Passed. For Example, My Nation (As You Can Probably Guess From The Name) Is Meant To Be A Rastafarian Theocracy, However, For Some Reason, When I Actually Put The "Theocracy" Policy In Place, It Decreased Recreational Drug Use, Which, From My Understanding Of Rastafarian Beliefs, Should Not Happen. If There's Some Way To Change This Later On Or If There's Somewhere Better To Post This, please Tell Me, As I'm Pretty New Here.

It’s all based on a (from my understanding) random generator, I the data base cannot also know what religion you are based on the name, so it will not know, ‘hey, this guy should get higher ____ because ______.

Earlier I had the idea of a dispatc format system, but turns out, those are just dispatches.

I guess you can use factbooks and stuff when that happens.

Please don't capitalise every word, if only for the sake of thread readers.

This first post of the Unusual Effect Thread explains this pretty well.

Basically, enforcing a mandatory religion generally lowers civil rights (there are times when that won't be true for your unique stats). Civil rights traditionally have a knock-on secondary effect on many things, including drug use. The game tends to correlate lower civil rights with lower drug use (maybe, IC'ly, it assumes your police are holding crack-downs).

Not much to be done about it. It's just how the game works.

I'm kind of amazed that anyone would think that the game would read the @@FAITH@@ field and then tailor stat results or each issue according to the religion you write in that fully free text field. Even if it were a choice of fixed known religions, that'd be an impressively complex bit of game design to do that for every issue in the game, and with a free text field allowing you to put anything from Zorroasstrainism (with spelling mistakes) to Ariana-Grande-Worship it'd be pretty incredible to expect the game simulation to account for that. Seriously, dude.

Or As You Would Say. Seriously Dude, You Think Dat Possible?

In my experience, average people seem to have a very poor grasp of how computer programming works.

So do I, to be honest. I just know how common sense works. Sometimes.

As far as I can guess, the stats are randomly generated

The stats are not randomly generated. And it would be helpful if you didn't guess when you don't know.

The stats output are based on the stats programmed to the option interacting with your own pre-existing stats. Some stats are primary and some are secondary. They run according to the game's code, which might take some getting used to.

Sorry for the offtopic since it's not about the stats, but my nation is described as:
"Havarlandians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often." yet my civil rights are very good and people have democracy.
I used to be a democratic socialist but now that the government has changed it's not the case anymore.

That line is the standard description for an 'Inoffensive Centrist Democracy' such as your nation now is.

Well, it's sort of based on stats.

Your nation classification is based on freedoms, and your freedoms are stat-based. The issues you answered would have -- at some point -- changed your freedoms which altered your nation classification, and the description of your nation ("Havarlandians have some civil rights, but not too many...") depends on your classification.

EDIT: Your classification will possibly change again at some point as you continue to play the game.
